Tizen SDK for Wearable with Gear S support - Samsung Gear S

Samsung just added a new support for Tizen SDK Wearable, it has now added support for Gear S, if you want to develop app for Gear S you can download the new Tizen SDK for wearable...

Accessory 2.1.8.jar gives unmarshalling errors when sending msgs over BT. All guys found this just reverted back to older version 2.0.19. There it works well

That should be possible as Opra mini uses this service already.

@raiu So Opera mini uses the phones data when connected via bluetooth. Right?

Yea it does and works with wifi and cell data. I think tether is built in but i have not tried to write apps that use internet directly.

I gave up on the emulators with the gear 2. Nothing matched the actual device and getting it to debug was far to flaky. It's too easy to debug on the actual device.

I got it to work by uninstalling the SDK (I had the Tizen general SDK on instead of just the Tizen Wearable SDK). Emulator is now working and has the Gear 2 and Gear S screen-size profles--on my MacBook.

Use android phone as generic bluetooth keyboard/mouse?

I would love to be able to use my phone as a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my media center (ps3, xbox media center), but cannot find any info about this..
I guess it would be up to the bluetooth drivers, and to my understanding, that was the big issue with bluetooth file transfer on pre 2.x android roms.
So i wonder, is this at all possible?
I am no programmer, so i couldnt possibly do this myself, so the question is merely hypothetical.
It would be nice to use the hero screen as a multitouch trackpad for my htpc with two finger rightclick and scroll as on my macbook but that would probably be asking for too much
I'd say it's possible, but I doubt that those BT profiles are included in the SDK, so it wouldn't be easy at all. It might only be possible on rooted phones.
A multitouch trackpad for a PC wouldn't be hard at all. I had an app like that (I can't remember what it was called, and it certainly wasn't as good as a mac's trackpad) but it worked over WiFi instead of bluetooth. I think it had keyboard as well... hmm..

Gmote does this, although i can't recall whether it supported MT. and i can't get the server to start on my pcs anymore, it is throwing some java errors, but i had it working in the past, and it was kinda decent as a touchpad.

Gmote has similar features, but it does act like generic bluetooth keyboard to be hooked with any bluetooth device, that support bluetooth keyboards. You have to install the server side part, which is not possible for devices like WDTV Live, which I would like to use.
If you want to control your xbox media center you could always search for xbmc-remote on the market.. I'm pretty sure it's for WiFi only though.. :/

but its little bit unstable, let see how it goes with mobile as bt keyboard and mouse as well.
BlueputDroid does this. It is working for me to use my Backflip as a BT keyboard for my Nook Color (though it's a little quirky for me)

Anyone have updated info on this? I want to use htc desire g7 on android 2.2. to type on xbox, anywhere on xbox, like an always on handy dandy controller...

thanks nd look forward to learning a ****load of stuff on this site!!

"GENERIC bluetooth mouse/keyboard"
Note "generic" word in the initial post. That means no server applications. I suppose it should work like this: I run the app on my android device and then my pc (or whatever) should be able to detect new bluetooth mouse/keyboard. Does such app exist?
I have searched google play and found nothing. Such app would be extremely useful, I would buy it immediately!

App problem, android wear...

Hi,
"Android wear" app dont connect to my gear fit.
No bluetooth pairing works, because the GF is not listed.
Do you run android wear?
Android Wear? WTF? What are you talking about? Gear Fit has nothing to do with Android Wear.
"android waea" is an app, which we find in gear fit manager at "app connect".
So i think it must work for us.

in order to connect your samsung gear fit to your android phone you must download an app called "gear fit manager" if you have non samsung phone you will not find this app on google play store...you must download this app from an alternative site, and change the security of your phone to allow install third party apps.
gear fit wtf android wear
Your replies are nonsense. "Android Wear" is an app in the play store. It claims to be able to link your Google now info to your smart watch along with other features depending on which model you have. I myself have been trying to get it to pair for days. It sees my gear fit and is stuck in a connection loop. If you don't know the answer save your stupid OPINIONS that are not FACTS.

This just wont work. The gear fit does not run android as its operating system. It is not an amdroid smart watch. if you want you can get Google Now notifications through the gear fit manager by selecting it in Notifications but it is not quite the same as what you are trying to do.

My thoughts on Gear S without Samsung Phone

Hi All . Just thought i would share my experience of using my Gear S without owning a Samsung Phone . I bought this watch to go running only with the option of being contactable when running / emergencys and it be truthfull it works a treat . Here what i do / think :-
Set my iphone to call divert to PAYG sim in watch before run
I have my running songs on my watch streaming via BT to my BT headphones
GPS works flawlessly
Watch set to always on using PAYG sim
Battery fine per run
What i wish for :-
Opera Mini
My Mac will see Watch when i plug it in
Kies not useless on my Mac ( can only load pictures ? ) - tried different USB's and just ordered a powered USB to try ? . Drivers installed etc
Overall after buying for £ 202 with £ 58 customs charge i'm pretty happy !
Any help / suggestions / answers appreciated !
Well if you can get access to an Android phone and download the Gear Manager on to it you can get Opera Mini from the Samsung Store on the Gear S.

From what little research I've done so far it looks like you need to download the Tizen SDK for warable devices which comes with a tool called sdb which works just like adb for Android.

Wish i wasnt a novice and had a clue what you guys are on about
Well it seems the basics of it is you:
download and install the SDK I linked above
find the directory with the sdb executable
copy the Opera file into that directory
connect the Gear S to your computer
open up a command prompt in the sdb directory (Shift + Right Click)
type "sdb install <filename>"

A bit more info for you guys or potential new buyers :-
I previously stated GPS works flawlesly . After a bit more fiddling this is not the case . If you get your first outside fix then all is good for future GPS locks unless :-
I use bluetooth for anything ?
Watch runs out of battery ?
I turn on Wifi ?
All of these take me back to the start and waiting ages for first GPS lock ? Totally mental and useless to me as a 100% standalone user for running
I am very near to giving up
And lastly as a Mac user whatever i do cable / driver / usb and powered usb my Mac wont see my Gear S yet my daughters dying windows PC ( No problem ) . This is becoming so difficult for me to use .
Thanks for Listening
Hang Fire !
Kies just informed me of a Software Update !!!!!
Downloading know !
Hope all my problems are fixed
Update worked a treat !
GPS lock is super fast now ( even after re-start ) etc so thats me happy !
Even get a few more watch faces as well .........
And lastly as mine is a South Korean model the missing maps app has appeared
Very happy now

Developing apps for Gear Fit 2?

Is it possible to develop apps or watchfaces and distribute by Samsung store for new Gear Fit 2? Some developer can confirm that or not?
Yes you can. Just need to sign up through the Samsung Tizen developer site and then build the apps/watches faces to the store.

space below music player on gear fit 2 drop down menu
The Gear Fit 2 drop down menu has an empty rectangle below where it says music player. I wish this could be assignable or at least let you tap home. In order to go home in a lot of cases you have to hit the home button. I wish you could swipe and tap your way through on the screen itself.

There's no support from the Tizen Studio (installed latest version 1.1.0). So, there's no template, you'll have to start from scratch. There's also no Emulator template either. There's great examples included, incl. native app which shows how access sensors (runs great in the emulator). The Fit2 is fully Tizen RTOS compatible. I tried to use one of the S2 examples to make it Fit2 compatible. Not luck, W/o a working template and a working emulator I give up...
So at this moment we can't really develop apps unless we know how to make it from scratch? No help for amateurs?

Correct, Samsung policy, buy at your own risk...
The screen res is 216x432. I made layout pics to use with the emulator. The db-file is the button assignment file. But haven't figured out yet, how everything works together.

Such a shame. It has lot of potential. Decent hardware and software that offers a lot as well. Could you please let me/us know if you figure something out? If Samsung doesn't want to help me use my watch to its full potential, I would happily spend my time doing that myself.

Success, partially...
I got an emulator working, BUT the screen settings are not ok, screen elements are being cut off, have to investigate...
Somebody interested helping me?
Emulator running: http://imgur.com/Uzdk0zB
Settings cut-off: http://imgur.com/nYeKZLi
Settings itself ok: http://imgur.com/pBaPrEk
Power Off ok too: http://imgur.com/Ir0p5sd
Both buttons (back and Home) are working.
If I find a way to make the emulator robust, no screen cut-off I can transfer sample apps from Gear S2 to Fit2. That's the first steps of developing own apps for this thing.

This looks promising. I would gladly help but I don't think that I would be of any use with my lack of skills.
I have Neonto studio installed which looks like an easy way of creating apps but I could not figure out how to get the app on my watch. Probably because there is no emulator for it in Tizen Studio.

You need the Tizen Studio to get apps onto the watch. In developer mode.
There's no template for this watch for Tizen Studio, so the interfaces are not declared (API to sensors), the screen resolution is not set (see my cut-off settings screen) and the GUI elements are not defined (swipe, L/R. D/U, no ring like Gear S2). I doubt that there'll be apps for this watch until some skilled person adds this to the SDK...
if somebody is interested I can send them what i did so far, it'll save some time in doing the emulator templates.

Three questions/requests:
1. What SDK did you use for Gear Fit 2? Wearable 2.3 or 2.3.1 or is there one for Gear Fit 2?
2. Are you able to push your app/project into your Gear Fit 2 via debug mode or something?

Hi only started to experiment today with my new fit 2. And got a hello tizen app on the fit 2. I was only following the samsung step by step guide.
1.) Used 2.3.2
2.) Yes, debug mode is working
Now i need to investigate how to build a minimal ui. I want to build a small app, that unlocks my smart door lock.
1.) enable wifi
2.) wait until connected to my router
3.) get thet state of the lock
4.) send the unlock command
5.) close app and disable wifi
So i'm able to go running without any additional key or phone.

If you make any progress, I'd be keen to hear, and I'm happy to share what I get done too.
I will probably look at it sometime over the next month when I have time as I am a complete noob to Tizen.
I never thought to have the watch directly open the door (but now I am going to copy that idea - thanks), originally I just wanted to have the watch trigger phone to open door (to avoid getting phone out to open door) I previously had tasker detecting the phone shaking trigger my door unlock, but It would be much neater to get the watch to do that instead.
Door unlock is simple https request with authentication token.

Mi Box 3 [Android TV MDZ-16-AB]- Remote Control/Teamviewer issue

Hello everyone,
Teamviewer does not allow remote control pc- box, just transfer files and screen view.
Is there anything to do or any alternative to that effect?
Maybe it's a very talked theme but I did not find anything relevant.
Thanks
Depends on your software level and build number. There are older version 9 and 10 of Teamviewer QUICK SUPPORT that allow remote control. Some combinations of MDZ-16-AB firmware and QUICK SUPPORT apk work very well but certainly YMMZ depending on specifics.
Have you tried VYSOR paid version?

Yes, I did but unfortunately wifi in the Vysor only works with the usb cable connected first, and whenever you connect the box you have to do the same, which doesn't make sense.
What I want is a simple wifi connection for different networks, how does teamviewer on simple android.
I've tried several versions of teamviewer including 9 and 10 but no result.
Thanks for trying to help

yes, I've tried it and has same problem as with teamviewerHOST app... just sharing the screen, doesn't allow remote control.
Note that I use the HOST teamviewer or quicksupport without problems on the native android system.
I've read in several places this question in androidtv OS, but no solutions.
