Will an Xperia Z2 charging dock work on Z3 - Xperia Z3 Accessories

Anyone know or have a guess?
It's currently $19 on Amazon.

it was $14 last month and seem to be going up now due to the Z3 announcement. my guess is it'll likely work with it, the port looks identical to me, including the pins

Z2

It's most likely to work, but Sony have reduced the mAh to 3100 on the Z3 so i just may be how much power both the docks feed on

It doesn't matter man, Actually, the amperage of the charger is much more low than the capacity of the battery. that mean you could charge the Z2 with 3,2A (it would be fulll charged in 1 hour) and the Z3 with only 3,1A.
Z2 charger is not over 3.1A, so you can charge the Z3 without any fear.
For me, it's possible.

charging port is the same
but Z3 "Dock" is different one

Will the magnetic charging cable (EC21) from the DK31/DK30 Dock being used for the z3?

The cable / port are the same for Z1/Z2/Z3.
My Z1 dock works with my Z2. Guessing it will work with Z3.

Z1,Z1s,Z1C,Z2,Z3,Z3C all use the same magnetic charging port.
Now whether it fits in the dock is another story. All the phones are different widths so you may have to take some playing cards and put them behind the Z3 but it'll charge. My advise is, if you are selling the Z2 include the Z2 dock and just buy the Z3 dock.

price gouging has begun..it's now $30+ and by next week it will be $45+
amazing how sellers take advantage of increasing the price when they know the device is coming out soon. personally i wouldn't spend more than $20 on this dock as i think it's a rip off, it;s not like it's wireless charging which IMO is what sony should have added to the phone.

Z1 Dockingstation works with the Z3
Hey guys i just bought the Magnetic Charging Dock Z1 (DK31) for taking it apart for the EC21 cable. Before I took it apart i tested if the charging docks with the z3. Well it works pretty good. Here some pictures.

Good to know. Not surprised. It works with the Z2 so it was very likely to work with the Z3.
Thanks for the pictures and info

How sad there is not more Dock coming with Z3. I am charging my Z3 with Z2 dock, not well fit, work though.

just to add on as well, am also using my Z1 dock with the Z3 as well. just had to add a small card at the back of it to make it a bit more secure and snug fitting

Just to add: DK39 charging dock (Z2 Tablet) also works.

Why the heck can't Sony just start selling inserts separately? It's getting silly now with so many variants and the need to buy new if you don't want to bodge things.
Sony could sell the insert for £5 each and turn a nice profit.

Xperia RAY induction charging mod

Just finished the Sony Ericsson Xperia RAY induction wireless charging mod
http://www.pbase.com/xperia_mods/xperia_ray_induction_charging_mod
All you need is about 15$ to order "Palm Touchstone" kit on e-bay, a bit of adhesive copper foil and
2 ohm SMD (1/8 or 1/4w) resistor is needed to balance on peak. Will not work without it.
Great mod indeed. thanks
i think this is similar to this:

yes. I't like to pay 39.99 for this magic battery and skip doing this tedious reverse engendering.
But this Powermat was still not out in the market of more then few phone models. In this 2010 video they'd planed to integrate induction coil into the battery. The idea with the battery replacement was great but still not commercially available. I suspect in reality it was tricky to make it work and it will reduce the battery capacity (as some battery room will be taken by induction coil and charging control circuit). Also Li-Ion battery can blow up or ignite when overheated or shortened. I guess they don't want to take this extra responsibility. So they roll back to selling Battery Doors & special bulky cases with induction coils. The need to integrate it into the heart of the phone (as we do with soldering + wire to the usb plug) prevents them to apply it to more phone models.
But your question can lead to a new great mod.
We can use this "Battery Door for BlackBerry Curve 8300" for just $4.78 or this and integrate it into the Xperia. However solution will be more expensive (due to mat costs) to that with PALM, we might skip ripping the phone, soldering and voiding the warranty.
If somebody will donate me this receiver door and the mat i'd try to do for him...
so you think we can have a wireless adapter for our mini pro?

I need to see it. I used to have x10 mini and the back of it was not flat. So it can prevent proper contact of coils. mini pro is a bit flatter. i need to hold it and Palm or Powermat coils in my hands to confirm
i had x10mini also.
unfurtenully i cannot donate you the material but i want so much wireless charging.
in alternative i have an idea:
maybe its possible to attach something to the battery to use duracell inductive charging mat no?

all this inductive charging works on the same principal
you need coil + mini controller + tiny align magnets on both sides.
unfortunately you can't connect it directly to the battery as li-on/li-pol battery are not that easy to charge and phone should control the charging process.
So you need to connect it to usb charging.
Maybe you can use something like this that connects to micro usb plug:

Question on the resistor
Hey There, im currently based in HK and im struggling to track down where i can get a 2ohm SMD resistor (is it 2 omh or 2k ohm??), Could you link me to a site i could buy them from i have tried Google but no luck on just getting a few. Would very much appreciate it.
Cheers,

would love to see this on mini pro
Great stuff! Will be trying this.

Cases for ZU

Hey now that this baby is finally out and some of us have gotten it in our hands, how are you gonna protect this beauty? Wallet? Soft/Hard skin? Naked?
I'm thinking of getting something similar to the sexy and thin wallet flip-cover that came bundled with the taiwain pre-order edition.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Rock-Stand-T...hone_PDA_Cases&var&hash=item20d5fc8367&_uhb=1
Or something simple just to prevent the back from scratching like this: (I have a black colored ZU it should look better than the picture) http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Thin-Hard-Ba...ll_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item232dfd0503&_uhb=1
All I know is that with a phone as monstrous as this, thin and lightweight cases are the only possibility as the phone is already approaching the limit of pocket-ability on it's own. Share your thoughts and finds guys!

Looks like large sized phones tends to have more flip cases than just shells. I'm not a fan of flips cases, prefer just shells/back-only casings.
The origin case from Sony (Malaysia) actually quite awesome.
I get it free during purchase the phone.

slim, sleek looking has card holder.
and big plus is the protection for the corners of the phone.

How about any holsters? I'm thinking it might be easier to carry on my belt than it is in my pocket, and I prefer to use the phone without a case. So a thin horizontal holster might work.
It'll look very 90s, but I can live with that.

Sony will start selling a battery back up case soon. This will solve the issue of poor battery performance. According to staff at Sony Center KLCC, the Smartwatch 2, SBH52 bluetooth headset and more covers will be available later this month.

So it's like Sony Vaio's sheet battery? Sweet.
For the case, I'm inclined to buy the baseus cover.. The only downside is that looks like the magnetic charging port is blocked.. The nillkin hardcase seems to leave the corners more vulnerable, not to mention the a-lot-to-break screen.. But on the plus side it is very simple and sexy.
I'm conflicted now Waiting to hear your reviews about the cases

Xperia Z Ultra Charging Case ( Video + Pic )

Hi All
This is a quick review and an initial impressions about the Z ultra charging case
below is the link to the video with the unboxing..
The link from which i purchased is
http://shop.brando.com/power-jacket-for-sony-xperia-z-ultra-4500mah_p09950c1599d003.html
the delivery takes exactly 14 days (it was same for another guy too ) , the packaging is nice and sturdy . The case feels a bit light not very heavy and all though it states the capacity of 4500MAh it would be equivalent to 3000 as the output is just 1Amp so charging will be a bit slow . the case feels quite sturdy and good build does not feel slippery when held , all though it adds 122 Gms additional to the phone , would not feel that heavy for a short use ( could feel heavy on prolonged usage like holding it in one hand and reading or playing ) The charging button is black and blends with the case unlike others with a huge silver button,
The charging time takes about 3 -4 hours and can charge the phone from 0-78 - 85% . overall its a good buy for people who want to charge on the go without the hassle of opening flaps , you can charge the phone and the case at the same time all though both would charge very slow in this case...

Deff High Performance Magnetic USB Convertor Jack For Sony Xperia Z1/Z2/Z3 REVIEW !!

Deff High Performance Magnetic Style USB Convertor Jack For Sony Xperia Z1/Z2/Z3 Review !!!
Deff magnetic charging Adapter for micro USB cable is an aftermarket connector for some xperia devices. At the moment it can only be order through amazon or some Chinese and Japanese site like eBay for $15.

What you get !!!
You can charge your Xperia Z1 / Z2 without opening the terminal cover.
Just attach this product to the tip of your micro USB cable, it will turn into a useful charging cable
Provides you a "quick connect" chargeable option without opening the cover each time.
Prevent getting moisture due to incomplete lid because you don't need to take it off.
Terminal is equipped with reverse protection which energizes only when there is a correct connection.
PROS
· The magnet is definitely strong enough to hold the phone in the air and it fits well on the port.
· There is good clearance between the phone and the adapter to have a case on and still be able to use it.
· Is affordable and so far it works.
· It seems to have a good build quality.
CONS
· You CAN”T talk on the phone while charging because the cable eventually falls to side and disconnects.
· You have to keep it in a flat surface in order to work best.
· If at all possible a thinner cable would work best because a stiff cable seems to disconnect it if it gets touch or moved.
Final thoughts
This adapter seems to be a good way to keep the flap on the charging port from opening and closing so much. I think is a good product if you’re willing to spend $15 on it and wait two weeks. I will test the charging speed and voltage and update later!!!!

it is tight, but if you have a very stiff cable like mine and I use the one that came with the phone it does disconnect if you pick up the phone while charging. I can see how a thinner cable could work.
I also think if the magnet was stronger than what it currently is you may take the risk of pulling the whole port out after everyday or every other day use !!!!

In Car Holder For Z5P

Hi thought I would put this out there, I bought a fantastic in car holder for my Z some years ago from Brodit. Spoken to them on various occasions they have released one for the Compact and Normal but not the Premium.
Has anyone here bought a car holder with windscreen mount for there Z5P and who from please.
I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has purchased a good one.
I'm likewise on the hunt for a good car holder and would welcome any other Member's inspiration on the subject ....
My old trusty Toshiba TG01 (recently retired) had a custom sized Herbert Richter mount but sadly (so far at least) nothing appears to be forthcoming for the Z5P. Nearest to that are the Brodits so I have tried both of their 'universal' mounts for thin devices, in advance of them hopefully coming out with an X5P-specific version. Unfortunately the larger one presses on the Z5P Volume rocker and the smaller on the Camera button.
My main usage to be for GPS navigation, so primarily in landscape rather than portrait mode.... currently making do with a Belkin Car Mount on the glass just under the rear-view mirror. The mount itself is absolutely fine, but I'm not keen on the placement.
Have also looked at several silicone mat based holders to sit on the dash but typically they have the device leaning back at too great an angle, making it prone to bad reflections. Also non-adjustable and hence largely useless.
One other which might be a possibility is the Spigen Stealth - it will certainly hold the Z5P (Landscape format ONLY) but has a substantial adhesive pad underneath to attach to the dashboard which I'm reluctant to do.
[For info Spigen do do a really good Desk Stand Model S310 labelled as iPhone but fits the Z5P perfectly and I find holds at exactly the right angle alongside my laptop docking station on the desk ]
Best regards,
Kevin
I'm using the Spigen Stealth and It doesn't leave any sticky residue after removal.
@kamalaggi - many thanks for the tip - I shall have to test the Spigen
Update 18 Jan 16..... I have now installed the Spigen Stealth and must say it seems the most practical and satisfactory I've encountered so far. It's simple, low-profile, unobtrusive and easy to get the phone in and out of without fear of damage. And can (relatively easily) be repositioned. So all in all seems to be a keeper
Regards,
Kevin
I have samsung's holder.
Quality is good, but unfortunately when it is closed it presses on volume buttons. So it is of almost no use for Z5P
I got tired of searching for a Z5 Premium specific mount so decided to get one of those magnetic ones and so far so good but you have to be careful where you attach the magnetic plate on your phone/case as it will switch the screen off.
