[Q] How to downgrade stock Kitkat to stock 4.2.2 (UL) - HTC Desire 601

Hi,
Sorry for the noob question, but I would like to downgrade the stock Kitkat to the original 4.2.2 I had on my Desire 601, when I bought it. I haven't fiddled with the phone in any way yet, so it is still S-ON. What would be the easiest and most secure way to downgrade it to original stock 4.2.2 (I guess UL)? This is a standard european distribution version, without any carrier rebranded version.
Thanks a lot.

Hi I have tried this method and I got to a point where I flashed the Jelly Bean ROM. After that the phone doesn't boot anymore and recovery says that there is no OS. The device still has S-OFF and unlocked bootloader. What should I do? I cannot boot the phone anymore. I've tried to flash SuperSU, but that doesn't work, also tried to flash JB rom once again, but it reboots a few seconds after starting the flashing process. Please help.

You have recovery for Jelly Bean or Kitkat and bootloader 2.20?

I played with it a bit, it seems that it cannot flash the ROM. It cannot mount the system partition and even though it says that the ROM has been successfully installed, I don't think so, because afterwards when rebooting, it says that there is no OS installed. So I think the problem is it cannot mount the /system partition...

I found that the flashing of the new ROM stops when it is about to write the system partition. It just reboots the phone. So the real issue is with that system partition, TWRP can't write nor create a new one. Any ideas?

I'm trying to do that, but even when it says that it was successfully restored (Jelly bean), when i reboot, it just shows the HTC logo and locks there forever. I can then just long press power button and it will reboot. After the restore of Jelly bean, TWRP cannot mount /system partition anymore.

Hello,
I have managed to solve the issue. The problem was that I was flashing a wrong ROM - I accidentally also downloaded a Jelly bean downgrade ROM, but for hboot 2.22. When I flashed the correct one (for hboot 2.20) everything worked, even without renaming the hcheck. Sorry for all the fuss I caused and thanks for your patience.

Do you have CWM installed?? If so, boot into recovery then go to mounts and storage and format /data /cache / and /system.
Then clear cache and dalvik cache.
Then factory reset.
Then re-install stock ROM with ODIN.
Should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply. But i don't have CWM installed. Could you help me to do that. Where do i find it. These days it pretty much comes with the modded ROMS. At least you gave me some air to breathe. Please help me with CWM
Can you get into download mode? If so, flash CF-Root. You'll probably still have the stuck Samsung Logo, but it SHOULD install CWM.
Then pull the battery, and see if you can boot into CWM Recovery.

Getting a bootloop doesn't mean the phone doesn't have a OS to boot!!!
in simple words it's not able to finish loading of all the apps before it shows the home screen. The reason for not able to finish boot may vary.

Why are you wiping after you flash the rom?
Just flash the rom, flash Gapps,...reboot.
If I remember correctly, I needed to pull the boot.img from the 4.4 tiKtaK Alpha ROM and flash it with Fastboot to get the ROM running.

Try just going back into recovery again, don't wipe anything, reflash the rom and Gapps.
If you are not s-off, then yes you will have to fastboot flash the boot image as mentioned above.

That's definitely possible.
I would suggest hunting down the latest available radio for your device and falshing it if you aren't on it already.
I see Andy has posted these, I don't know if you guys have anything newer or not...

Dang yeah im on current radio (1.53.06.0919). I'm stumped, I just tried the whole process over Locked bootloader, then unlocked, fastbooted cwm recovery and flashed rom + gapps. It keeps hanging at the htc screen, what are my options?
Ok for now im rolling to stock via RUU. I relocked the boot loader to do so.

Did you verify that you had a complete download?
Check the md5 sum of the file you downloaded against what's on the server.
I know you already reverted, but that's the only other thing I can suggest really.

Silly question, but are you sure you have the correct gapps? Maybe flash just the rom and see if you can complete the boot process. Then install gapps.

No I'm not sure what's the problem, since I've never experienced or seen this kind of error.
Try tomorrow and get back to us with the results.
I would try another recovery as Saad_ said.

[Q] HTC ZARA UL virgin mobile canada - No signal after installing 'insert coin' rom

Hi,
I was running 4.2 jb that came with the phone and I had root and custom recovery(philz touch) A few months ago, I got the OTA update for 4.4.2 kitkat and when I did it, the device was unrooted and the custom recovery remained. Today, I installed the 'insert coin' rom for zara ul but after installing I found out that network signal is missing and network menu in settings are also greyed ou and there was an error about dialer apk. I tried wiping dalvik cache , etc . No use !!. So, I wanted to go back to the stock . But now that I have wiped clean my system, I think the recovery gives error like no stats found /system/build.prop something like that. I am stuck at recovery and fastboot are my only options. I am not sure if I'm using the right version of stock rom to flash. Also I'm not sure if only rom is enough or I need a corresponding boot.img file or firmware. Please point me towards links to download the right files for my phone and hguide me to solve this issue . This is my main phone and I do not have a back up phone .:crying:
Thank you

Yes. I get " installation aborted" error 7 from CWM. I had a copy of the OTA 4.4.2 rom and I know it's the right rom because that's what I've been using prior to this mishap. But I'm not able to flash that rom either. I get the same error. I read some threads and tried to delete some lines in the updater-script . Still no luck. Looking for a step by step instructions for wiping everything and fresh install.

Problem with BootLoop (customROM)

PROBLEM SOLVED, THANK YOU !
Hi.
I just recently rooted my Honor 5X (KIW-UL00 , it's the chinese model)
I then tried installing a custom ROM, the LineageOS. Problem being that I was stuck in a weird BootLoot. When I rebooted the system, it showed me the usual Honor page for like 4-5 seconds, then the loading screen for LineageOS. After like 10 seconds, the animation stopped, the thing crashed and my phone restarted to the Honor page, then Lineage, then crash ... So I booted my phone with TWRP, tried Wiping the Cache and System and started over again with installing Lineage. The same thing happened. I then tried with 3 other custom ROM'S and the same thing happened. I don't know what I did wrong, I am wiping my cache and Dalvic each time, but I can't figure out what to do.
I'm looking for someone who could help me fix this. I am thinking about flashing the stock ROM, I just don't know how to do it, because it seems different than the custom ROM'S
PS: I'm looking for a kick fix, because I kinda really need my phone xD
Thank you!
Ok so, quick update, I got rid of TWRP by flashing the stock recovery over it. I tried to follow this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/honor-5x-kiw-ul00-boot-loop-t3449554
(DigiGoon's first answer) but it told me that the installation failed.
So in short, my phone is actually in a endless bootloob, trying to boot no ROM, because the're none.
what's the stock system version you were running before you flashed the custom rom? B418 is the latest non VoLTE firmware.
It was Marshmallow 6.0.1... I found my mistake
We can't downgrade using the SD card method and I was trying to install 5.0
Now I need to find the stock version for the KIW-UL00 6.0.1
you can downgrade with the help of hisuite by huawei.
if your stock system was above B422, you can use this patch to stop the bootloop,
just flash the file in twrp after you flash the rom. https://mega.nz/#!tK51gDRL!S9oYLBTeFDbN0hOCzt5jQ5DYECObFC08YMr-Kml6scc
Problem is that I dont have any ROM or custom recovery running on my phone. I can only acess the bootloader, the eRecovery (that for some magical reasons, doesn't work for me) and the SD card installer, that also doesnt work because the only thing I can find is a UPDATE.APP that is on 5.0, when my phone was on 6.0.1, which doesn't work.
HiSuite doesn't even connect and I don't know what VolTE is, can you explain?
Can someone can help me in finding the Stock ROM for KIW-UL00 (the chinese version of Honor 5x) on android 6.0.1. I can find those for every country except china...
EDIT, I was able to get back on TWRP, so I can add files in my phone
