Screen auto brightness keeps it way too dim in a dark room.
Over sharpening text on certain webpages (Certain text on a light colored backgrounds looks awful until you zoom way in, basically unuseable sites).
On screen buttons mean less screen real estate (screenshot).
Need the ability to hide home row buttons on ALL screens (system apps too).
Knock off doesn't work on Google Now Launcher. (thanks to nfuNk user I discovered this still works if you double-tap the notifications bar, but not a real solution.)
Google Play Services using tons of battery life (no longer the case after first day... problem solved because LG appears to fake battery usage).
Way too much space used by toggles and sliders in notifications drop down. Killing volume slider was a must just to make it usable for other notifications.
Charging port is hard to plug into even with included cable and feels like it's going to bust sometimes. You have to slide in from the top. Very un-inotive.
My MHL adapter won't plug in at all and I found out it's because LG uses Slimport to do HDMI. What was wrong with MHL?
Many 3rd party apps I've installed that I know support multi-window don't show up as an option to use them in multi-window.

No ability to add more than 5 default room profiles in the QuickRemote. Lame.
Ten tries at knock code is way too many. Needs to lock you out after 3 or 4 attempts. Often doesn't even recognize a wrong knock code as incorrect.

Just my complaints. Absolutely no pro's are included. I really want to keep this phone because there is a lot about it that I like but much of the cons are making me rethin it. Why aren't their more companies offering good batteries, NFC/Qi backs, etc.?
On number 29, I believe after ten it wipes your phone not lock you out. So ten might be a good idea.
On your overall list I don't see anything that is a big deal except maybe the display seems to bother you quite a bit. All the rest of the stuff are just the usual annoyances. Might not see the exact same issues on another phone but there will be just as many.
That said if the display really bothers you a lot you should return it.
Oh yay, a "convince me" thread. Show some sack, and make your own decisions. If there are things you don't like, only you can decide if you can live with them. How is anyone supposed to convince you?
If you don't like stock screen brightness use Lux.
You can use any other Launcher that supports Gestures and set up Knock Off with that without any issues.
You can try changing your DPI to gain more screen real estate.
You can use Flex Multi Window app to add whatever apps you want to the Multi Window.
You can change your LED for notifications with various apps and mods.
My WiFi works far better than it did on my S4 so not sure why yours isn't?
I think most of your dislikes could be fixed without getting a new phone. Every phone will have it's list of " annoying things " I think the G3 is a great phone myself even without a custom recovery and Roms. Although I'm excited to get that going as well

I've got until next Thursday to return mine. All of my problems deal in the LGDroid software. If the phone's bootloader is unlocked I will be happier than a hound dog eating steak.

Root and install XPosed. You can turn screen off with 2 taps to notification bar (top of screen).

Fair enough. But I'm use to having spare batteries that are as good as the original for $26 and come with a travel size wall charger. I don't think I'm going to get that with the G3.

On Amazon now you can get an OEM Battery for $30 or you can get the Caseology or Trendon 2 Battery + AC/USB Charger for about $30 as well.
Those ones people are saying are about 90% of what the OEM one is I guess.

Links please? All the batteries I see on Amazon that have supposed good reviews are stuffed with fake reviews that turned out to be junk when I researched them elsewhere.
I know a lot of Anker batteries aren't all that great but their warranty is fantastic and I have first hand experience with that. It's the reason I have 3 reasonably well working batteries and two compact wall chargers that work more than well enough for traveling for a measly $26 for my GS4. That option doesn't even exist for the G3.

Well a friend of mine has the Caseology ones that he ordered right from Amazon. I'll look for the link but it's the ones with 2 Batteries and a Charger.
And I've spoken to a few here on XDA that got the OEM LG Battery off there as well and they've said that Battery is just the same same as the one that came with the phone, even though the writing on the Battery differs a little from the stock one... Same Battery and it's made in LG factory I guess.
I'm with you though.. I miss having my Anker Battery I had for my S4. That Battery was awesome.
LG and the other companies haven't made it easy to get a good spare at all.

And with root you can use xposed gel settings module to fix the knock on issue an the g3 tweaks module to fix every other thing I missed from my nexus 5 I got tired of reading after the first few issues but for me this is an awesome phone an I'm keeping it at least till the next nexus comes out

Thanks everyone for all the tips on various apps and ways to fix some of the things that are bothering me. If I keep this phone (and I probably will) I'll look into rooting so that i can do a lot of the xposed stuff.
Root it and just about all your complaining will go away even the on screen buttons
on #1: maybe you are wrong about what is way too dim. when you are in a dark environment with the fone beeing pretty much the only light source you should keep it as dim as possible. give your eyes like half a minute to adapt to it. otherwise you possibly damage the low light reception of your eyes in the long run.
You already made your choice since you list 30 problems.

That might be true. Maybe my old phone was just way too bright and needlessly killing battery since I can see this one just fine. It's just a shock and something I noticed right away.

Not at all. I only listed the negatives. There are plenty of positives about this phone and that's why I needed to point out everything I don't like about it to try and convince myself to save $599. I want to keep it, but not if there is something out there as compact with as big of a screen as this. I'm afraid I won't find it so I'll be "stuck" with this G3.
I'm test driving a iPhone through T-Mobile right now and I absolutely hate everything about it except the fingerprint scanner. It's amazing. I hope LG can copy that tech into the G4 as a back button. It's even better than knock code IMO.

Build: It's nice, I actually like the rubberised backing and I love where the speakers are. It's taking a little getting used to as I recently sold my ipad 3. To me, it feels like I don't have to treat it as precious as the ipad, and that is something I really like.
Screen: Sharp as hell, The screen is great. Really great. Sharpest I've seen. The contrast is took some getting used to because my phone is an s3 so I'm used to over saturation. After spending the evening with it yesterday, I actually prefer the more natural looking colours. I did download a black image to look at light bleed and did notice a couple but to be honest, its not something I have ever looked for before and it's not a big deal, its not noticable on mine when using it.
Android 4.2: love the multi log in. Love how smooth it is. Browsing internet so far as been as good as my laptop. I always found Chrome and Safari to be quite annoying on ipad. Still undecided about my preference on the soft keys placement, time will tell! I had forgotton my entire music collection is synced on my laptop to google music, so i got a great suprise when i saw all my music and picasa collection synced.
Apps: I probably don't use apps as much as other people but I do miss some apps from the ipad, things like amazon, ebay etc. and a decent twitter client. I'm sure they will come and they can be just as good (look at expedia on ipad and android for good example) and there is one app you will not see in the app store, one of the main (if naughty) reasons I sold my ipad...utorrent :S
That's all I can think right now...camera is average, as to be expected I guess.

Is the web page scrolling smooth on sites like the verge and droid life articles, especially in the comment section, as smooth as the ipad 3 in safari? That is really my only concern about the tablet after reading the other reviews. I just can't stand stutters when I'm scrolling a web page.

Where abouts is the light bleed located? How much light actually bleeds through? By that I mean is the light bleed spots noticeable brighter or only slightly.
It won't bother you during normal use, but would it if you watched a dark video?
My 32gb arrived yesterday late morning, used it on and off most of yesterday afternoon & evening.
Impressions:
In the box: Nexus 10, Quick Start manual, USB to micro-USB cable, USB adaptor & wallplug
Hardware:
Construction seems generally solid, I like the "grippy" rear on the device - you get have it on your knees without fear of it slipping off. My only gripe is how quickly the screen gets finger-print splattered, but that's a general tablet gripe rather than a Nexus 10 gripe.
Set-Up:
I had ticked the "link to my account" box upon ordering, so it greeted me by name when it booted up. Entering my Google password kicked off the quick & easy set-up process as any applicable apps (not all of them were) are downloaded onto the Nexus 10. Then came a OTA update to Jellybean, and a re-boot. Boot process is very fast - from switch on to login screen seems about 10 seconds.
Display:
As others have said. it is sharp. Very sharp. Zoomed text on web pages looks great. Games look great. Apps optimised for the tablet look great. No complaints about performance. I installed various widgets for email, twitter, FB etc. all without any issues.
User Accounts:
An excellent feature, and was very easy to set-up if you have google accounts for all users. Great for sharing the tablet around the family. My only concern is that now when I purchase an app on my account and someone else in the family want to use it, I will have to purchase it again for them - which is a bit of a gyp.
Battery:
Device came with about 70% battery. I plugged it in to charge whilst I was doing the set-up etc. During this period the device did not seem to gain any charge, but stayed about the same. When left alone on charge (not switched off), it seems to take a long time to charge up - probably managed about 10% in an hour. Left overnight it charged from 50% to full, no problem, but I'm going to see if a 10% or less battery will charge fully overnight tonight. Will not be very happy if it doesn't!

Hi,
I'm at work right now, can try and get a picture when I get in, its not noticable at all when screen in normal use, in black screen there is a very small amount in the top right hand corner and one in the bottom to the far left.
one thing i forgot to mention, the battery! seems good BUT I put it on charge at 10pm last night when it was 10% and by 7am it was at 91%. pretty slow by any standards, maybe just cos its a first charge but we will see though i have heard the pogo plug bit should charge much faster!

Gonna have a more in depth look at this tonight, but as each additional user I set-up was done using different gmail accounts & for each one it asked if I wanted to register a credit card, I concluded that apps purchases were done per account rather than per device. Hope not though!
First Impressions:
Slick fulfillment - Ordered 16gb at 11:16 am in UK on Tuesday, arrived 23 hours later!
Nice box Decent charge in battery
Looks cheap compared to the finish on my departed TF201, though feels nice in the hand.
Bezel looks slightly too large at sides due to the speakers.
Lovely screen, some very very minor light bleed, certainly nothing compared to my TF201.
Takes ages to charge via the micro USB, a faster solution is needed urgently.
4.2 being very early days mean a good few of my regularly used apps like MX Player and Boat Browser do not yet work.
Here is one I took last night with normal screen i nthe dark. perfect for movie watching, no?

Haven't received my N10 yet however with the Android phones my family uses I created a "family" Gmail account that some purchases are made under. I add that "family" account as a secondary account on the phones (making sure to uncheck all sync options) and the apps are then available for all family members via the Play Store.

Good. If all the screens only have very minor light bleed at worst then we have nothing to worry about.

Using a 6+ at the moment, but I need android as well. I am holding out for the note edge (owned every note gen), but in the mean time I am thinking of picking up a g3 second hand (very cost effective for what you get). Now I have read all about the lag, overheating etc followed by "you can fix it if you root and tweak". I am all down for tweaking, romming etc. I just need honest opinions about the end result. Not the fanboy defense or defending the phone because you have one etc. Thanks
I do like mine quite a bit. I have gone the rooting route of course, but it wasn't too bad before that either. There's a few things that still bug me, such as not being able to trigger Google Now via my Bluetooth headset and the AUX issues. Then screen is a bit dim and the battery life is amazingly average, but beyond those the phone is pretty awesome.

Honestly I've never had any of the mentioned issues, I've had G3 2 days before it was released. I love the phone, used to be Samsung person myself, got tired of Knox. I get at least 2 days battery, with no lag or overheating.
Maybe its my coverage area or the fact that incant stand a dim screen, but I've never been able to get "good" battery life in about any phone.
I was initially anxious when I purchased the phone. But with Xposed, Greenify, Tasker, Root, Bump!, Nova Launcher, and a variety of other tweaks, apps and freezing of bloatware, the phone just rocks now. I don't even need a custom ROM any more.
I also enjoy the look, feel and size of the phone. And I really like having the buttons on the back rather than the side. Qi charging has also been a nice frill.
The one remaining deficiency that can never be fixed is the screen in direct sunlight. Even with Lux IPS will never look as good or clear as Retina or Amoled.
I picked up the g3. I rooted and rommed, installed greenify etc. So far battery idle is great, haven't really tested usage. However, I notice there is a lag, not always but there seems to be a stutter that's almost predictable and constant. Any ideas?

If you search around the forums you'll see that this is a persistent concern for a lot of G3 owners. Here are some solutions/workarounds that I think I've seen the most often:
(1) Change your launcher to something better like Nova.
(2) Switch from Dalvik to ART (and sometimes vice versa).
(3) Uninstalling, freezing or at least Greenifying an app that just isn't working well with your phone. Top candidates include Facebook Messenger, LG Keyboard and Google Play Services.
(4) Go into developer options and completely turn off Windows animation scale, transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale.
A fifth idea which I don't personally recommend is to go into the hidden menu of the phone and reduce or eliminate the built-in slowdown that triggers when your phone reaches a certain temperature.
There's a wealth of discussion regarding this topic on the XDA forums. Take some time and look around.
Personally my phone has always been lag-free so it can be done!

Also switch to a different keyboard. The stock LG keyboard seems to be a lag fest, too.
Bummed about the loss of 2nd screen but the rest looks appealing. Did anyone else upgrade from a V20? What's your opinion?

Don't mind it at all. Was really just a gimmick to me though that I really didn't use.
I upgraded. Only two things that I kinda miss about the "2nd screen" is that it if I caught incoming messages as they came in, I could see who it was without opening the phone. The number of times that usually happened was low though. Most of the time I had to have some sort of watch on that buzzed me and I just peeked at that. Which is what I do now with the V30. The other thing I miss is having the mode switcher while in camera. Majority of the time I'm in manual stills anyway so I just made a shortcut icon for that in the static icons in my launcher. Other than that, using the AOD and floating bar I haven't really noticed it missing.

I upgraded from the V20 just 2 days ago and so far I'm LOVING my V30. I got my V20 after Samsung's Note7 disaster. I didn't want to downgrade to an S7 Edge, but the V20 still seemed like it was forced onto me. I liked the phone, but it was no Note7.
I will admit that the lack of Second Screen takes a bit of time to get used to if you integrated it into your daily usage patterns., but you probably won't miss it on the V30. The V30's Always On Display has a special "swipe bar" that has all the shortcuts that the V20's second screen had when the main screen was turned off (shortcuts like the wifi, bluetooth, camera, sound profile, etc toggles + music controller + shows icons for new texts, missed calls, etc). So that part is definitely similar and you most likely won't miss the Second Screen for that. The part that needs a little time to adjust to is the app shortcuts bar that appeared when the main screen was on. You will need to get used to the fact that all that info isn't in your face anymore, but will instead be on the hidden Floating Bar instead. You'll get used to it quickly though.
Admittedly, I don't use the Floating Bar on the V30. Too intrusive for me even though it's hidden. I just don't like that little half circle button on the edge of the screen. I instead use an app called Meteor Swipe, which adds a hidden swipe zone to the side of the screen (completely configurable from width, length, location, and left/right). When swiped out, you get app drawers (as many as you want) that contain as many apps as you want. It kind of mimics the S8 and Note8's side app drawer thingy. I used this on my V20 too since I really missed the side app drawers from my Note7.
I HIGHLY recommend upgrading if you want superb battery life compared to the V20's. This is why I actually upgraded. I'm a light user, with my phone mostly in my pocket all day, but about 1-2 hours of SOT. The V20 was needing a quick +30% charge to get me through the day (5am to 10pm). The V30 is lasting me all day with battery saver on (Set to Extended with only Restrict Background Data enabled and a few apps set to be excluded; Max brightness set to 100% in Battery Saver too, but auto-brightness is enabled) and some ATT and LG bloatware disabled. Yesterday (day off from work), I was using my phone from 9am to midnight and ended the day at roughly 85% with no charges and about 2 hours of SOT. I basically had my phone in my pocket all day, light texting, 2 short phone calls, and ended the night watching Youtube until I fell asleep. I fell asleep with my phone in my bed and woke up with only about 2% drain over night. Your battery life may vary obviously, and I'm only going off of memory, but DANG the battery life was remarkable!
EDIT: I should also note that even with Battery Saver on, I have yet to experience any lag or slow down. This phone is just super fast!
In short, you lose the V20's Second Screen, but gain so much more and keep several features of the V20 one way or another.
You gain:
-Faster CPU
-MUCH better battery life
-water proofing
-wireless charging (if you're into that... I personally could care less)
-battery saving tools not present on the V20's software
-lighter weight
-OLED screen that is really stunning (and saves battery over the V20's LCD display)
-And some other things I'm sure that I can't think of at the moment. The above mentioned were things I considered when deciding whether to upgrade or not.
You get to keep:
-The impressive DAC
-Main screen on Second Screen features are on the Floating Bar instead. Still there, but implemented differently.
-Main screen off Second Screen features are on the Always On Display instead. Again, still there, but different implementation.
-Impressive camera with all the manual settings... if you know how to use them... which I don't... soooooo....
Really, the only thing you lose is the toughness of the V20, but from what I've seen on Youtube drop tests, the V30 is still pretty strong.
EDIT: Oh, I should also mention that if you purchased themes for the V20 via the Google Play Store, they won't work on the V30 since it uses a different Home version than the V20. I was a bit disappointed by this at first since I love to theme my phones. The good news is that the same guys who made the V20 themes are working with the V30 now. Themes are currently scarce (at the time of writing this), but will populate the Play Store over the next several months.
Over all, I do recommend the V30 over the V20. Don't let the lack of Second Screen be a deciding factor for you.
Picked up mine yesterday. I was going back and forth over the S8+ and the V30. And really, they are pound for pound nearly identical, even with the 6 month head start that the Sammy had. You might give up some creative photo control if you go S8, but you get a much better selfie camera, but that's all personal preferences for that stuff. I got used to using the fingerprint unlock recently, and the location on the V30 is really what sealed it. Well that, and the S8 just reminds me of the S6 edge I had, and it just felt like nothing I hadn't already had or seen before. I was pleasantly surprised at the smaller physical size of the 30 vs the 20 though. So far, I've only had a couple things that irk me, and I think that's more app-based than phone-based. Overall though, I do like the phone quite a bit. Only been a day though, so who knows!
I got the V30+ just two days ago and I am in love with it already. I miss the second screen but I think it's not a big deal, since the V30 gives many more improvements over V20.
OK. So I'm sure as this tab gets out there more and more, there will be rumblings and grumblings with this generally awesome device. I've had mine (SHT-AL09) for three weeks here in the U.S. and while overall I am very happy, nothing is above some criticism and there are some things I could use some help with.
I've already mentioned in another thread having issues with the position of the volume rocker and power button as well as the overall shape. This device is not boxxy like the X2 I'm replacing and it takes some getting used to.
With this, I am deathly afraid of dropping it because of the shape. I did buy a folio wallet; but ultimately, I want a semi stiff gel case to absorb some shock. I have ordered one from China; but it looks like it could take up to 6 weeks to get it here in the US. So, I can use any advice or links for a gel case for this tab in the US. Also any recommendations for a quality gel case is likewise desired.
Secondly, this tab annoyingly begins playing music ANY TIME it connects to a blue tooth device (not sure if this is Huawei or Android.) This is real annoying when I get into my car first thing in the morning and I am met with Ronnie James Dio blaring at me before I've had my coffee. Anyone know how I can stop this from happening? My sanity demands it (BTW, deleting RJD from my library is not an option.)
Otherwise, I'm loving this tab and totally psyched to have a giant screen with LTE capability and a dialer!! Hopefully, this will set a trend and show the world we are a market best not ignored.
I had been having trouble getting Aquamail to activate the LED indicator on new messages. Supposedly, Huawei is known to make it hard for non-stock apps to activate the LED. However, in this case I eventually realized that the issue was that the LED didn't support the light blue color that was set by default in Aquamail. I changed it to red and new e-mails now trigger the LED.
I have noticed that when I adjust screen brightness via a 3rd party app - i.e. HD Widgets or Setting Profiles Lite - the screen brightness reverts to something different after I turn the screen off and back on again. This might not turn out to be an annoyance, as I kind of like the way auto brightness works on this device.
Is this thing supposed to be VOLTE capable? If so, I imagine it can be enabled via the build.prop file. I don't get VOLTE, nothing I care about too much but it would be nice.
I'd love to be able to customize the appearance/structure of the notification bar and quick settings. I used 'Color Status Bar' for this on my Sony Z3TC and it worked really well. It doesn't seem to work with Oreo.
What opens up automatically to play music when you connect a bluetooth device? That has gotta be an easy problem to solve. Also, I think it has to do with your car stereo more than anything else.
Hey, it's the stock music player. I tried changing the default music player but the stock one still starts playing every time I connect to my car radio. I heard there is a third party app to address this but I'd prefer to stay within the stock system if possible.
What I really find annoying is the bug with keyboard attached: Brightness Controll pops up randomly, interrupting my typing ... really annoying ...

There are some differences between emui 8 on the M5 and emui 8 on the Mate SE. Didn't expect that. Not pleased about it, as they are things that get used frequently. An AOSP rom would change that of course.
I didn't find the sharp edges very comfortable when typing. Found a soft tpu case that makes things a lot better. Not a fan that the main camera sticks out a bit which seems like it would get damaged when putting the tablet down on a hard surface. Again, the case helped with that.
Didn't like that the navbar was eating up screen space but found an option to use the finger print scanner as the nav bar, which I prefer after getting used to it.
Overall I'm enjoying the tablet, love the display.

I generally agree - but really the only thing I would change on the 8.4 version is the placement of the fingerprint sensor, which is too easy to press on accident when holding the tablet in landscape orientation and typing or what not. It should be nearly to the far right of the tab's bottom area, not dead center.
And really, this would be obvious to any ux designer testing the product, the problem is there is too much emphasis on blindly copying Apple and Samsung. Apple is a cult and Samsung makes extremely high quality hardware that isn't always user friendly.
My two issues right now is that 3rd Party Music apps don't show the album cover and stuff on the lockscreen. And that my device vibrates like twice after rebooting it.

Here's a minor annoyance - try sending a text message to a number without typing a '1' before the number...you'll get an error message: '(555) 555-5555' is not a valid recipient.' Instead, you have to type out 1-555-555-5555.

Music doesn't start playing automatically for me when I connect bluetooth headphones. Maybe it has to do with my config.

@kedge probaly you would like to have a look at HFF, there are several new updates available. Either do a manual update using HFF or wait another few days until the update arrives via OTA.

I have firmware version .122 i found on FF that there is .123 available and approved for install so i use vpn to force update but during install it fails at few percent that it failed to verify. What to do?

Still not able to figure out how to stop the damned music app from blaring every time I connect via bluetooth to my car stereo. I'm thinking the problem may be at the car stereo end as others are not having this issue. My latest nuisance is constantly turning on the screen accidentally. Wondering if there is any way to customize the screen wake up options. Maybe changing the behavior of the front facing button or something else. I was also having problems with applications shutting down mid text while using a third party keyboard. (Swype.) I finally had to delete the keyboard and go back to stock.
So for me the screen density was driving me nuts. Everything was way bigger than my previous tablet, even after setting the view mode to "small".
I fixed this by going into developer options and setting the smallest width to 750. More fits on the screen now. Much better.

Reading through a lot of the threads here I see that the Pixel 6 is very popular with the OP6T phone set. As the OP6T has ended official support I expect more and more of its users will be getting Pixel 6 phones. I just got mine yesterday and am getting used to it. I thought it might be nice to have a thread where folks used to the OP6T and similar OP models could discuss transition issues while we get used to our new Pixels.
I'll start with one big question:
I'm dying without the physical ringer switch. I knew I was giving it up, but I'm struggling. On the OP6T, I would use it maybe 20 times a day. Incoming Teams call from the boss? Set phone to silent. Ad pops up without volume control while playing a game? Slam the phone to silent. And so on.
Whjat's a quick way to switch between normal / vibrate only / silent mode on the P6?
Would love to hear other experiences, learnings, and questions!
One thing that i did not know initially is that volume keys and the ability from there to switch sound modes works also on lock screen. Just press volume up or volume down and use the button above the volume bar to switch sound modes.
Yeah I found that. It's slick but still takes more than just shoving a slider.
I wonder if there's a setting to like double tap a volume key to toggle modes?
Another thing I'm getting used to is the thickness of the device. I saw it in the specs before I ordered, but wow it feels like a brick. On the other hand, it's got a beefy battery and if a thicker phone is the price for longevity, I will get used to it gladly.
Overall I'm trying hard to run it stock Google to get the experience. However, I may be going back to Nova Launcher for my home screen; I'm not loving the stock google launcher due to lack of customization so far. Time will tell.
Alert slider was iconic feature for oneplus but now even they are dropping it in the newer devices that are not flagships. I am a little bit cursed regarding experiments with new brands. I bought LG V10 and liked it but it had the dreaded bootloop problem and after that LG went down. I bought HTC u ultra and liked it but after that htc went down. I bought oneplus 7 and really liked it but after that the merger with oppo started and everything that i liked in oneplus started to gradually vanish. Now i like the pixel 6 despite the initial problems and hope that situation will only improve in future.
What drives me nuts is manufacturers remove useful features that I love.
For example the multicolor notification LED. Used almost zero power and with proper app could blink color/rate variably depending what was going on. Silent, discrete in meetings, but told me what I needed to know. But now extinct.
Also I don't get the design choice of slick/fragile phone backsides. I used to by more rugged backed phones to go without a case. No more, phones are now more expensive due to glass back plus I need to buy a case adding cost and bulk. Sigh.

True, there's a way around this though - aodNotify makes the hole punch a bit less useless, flashing basically a notification LED around it. I've been loving it since I've started using it in Nov and can highly recommend.

I've bought the pro version, and did some basic setup. One feature it seems to lack that I'd really like, which I will communicate with the developer on, is to make the color settable not just per app, but per email account sending the notification. Maybe this already exists in the "contact" section. I'll have to play with it some more this weekend. I have three email accounts on the phone, and it would be nice to get differential notifications for "family email" versus "personal email" versus "commercial email" accounts. Also have to see if there's a way to have the time/date stuff off... I'd prefer a fully black screen except for the flashing notifications, when present.
But all this is just me picking nits. This looks like a great piece of software that fills a gap, and I appreciate the introduction to it!!

One more not on this: I learned the hard way that the silent mode applies onlybtonringer and notifications. It doesn't silence the phone like the OP phone sliders do. Media sounds remain enabled, so this mode doesn't silence ads which is the main thing I wanted to use it for. I'm experimenting to see if these modes remember the media volume last selected within the mode. Sometimes it seems yes, but sometimes they seem to reset.

After about two weeks with this phone I'm pretty settled in and liking it.
My biggest single issue was the lack of physical audio switch which I'm delighted to report is entirely deprecated by using the wonderful Button Mapper app by @flar2 . That app let me map a single down-volume tap to silencing media sounds, which was exactly what I needed.
I've gotten used to the increased thickness/weight of the phone, which of course there is no remedy for other than time and familiarity.
I'm pleased by its snappy responsiveness, and very happy with the built-in googleness of it, including the benefits of its dialer and call screening and visual voicemail which is better than the ATT equivalent. There are also a lot of assistant features I plan to dig into, gradually, that are better on pixels than other phones. It's nice to know I'm "on board."
The phone works well for wifi calling with ATT after I got the IMEI added to my AT&T account (I was never able to get that to work on my 6T) and at least in my area the 5G coverage is good. I don't get super fast data speeds on 5G but the typical 30 MB/s is more than enough for my uses when I'm out and about.
I've added aodNotify to make up for the missing multicolor LED in recent phones (6T didn't have one either) and while I'd like a few more customizations, it's pretty awesome.
For the first time in several phones I stuck with Messages instead of using my beloved Textra. I'm still getting used to things (including notably less customizable font sizes) but the benefits of Messages going forward probably outweigh the losses.
The one thing I had to ditch pretty quickly was the Google Launcher home screen. I went back to Nova Launcher within days; I just couldn't handle the "basic-ness" of the built in Launcher. That's less about the phone than anything else but I mention it all the same.
One ongoing thing: the phone is usually warm. My 6T only heated noticeably when I was doing something really intensive with it. The P6 warms up just sitting there with the screen on. Still, I get good battery life so I'm not worrying about it.
Overall I'm pleased with my purchase and recommend the phone to folks coming from the OnePlus line. Not sure if I prefer it to the other phone I considered (8T, for $200 less), but I'm happy enough I'm looking forward instead of backward.

Any other OPx users notice their OP-supplied charging blocks don't charge the Pixel? I have two of these. One from my OP3T and one from my OP6T. I believe them to be identical part numbers; I don't know which came with which phone as I've used them interchangeably since I got the 6T. Both charge either phone rapidly.
But, one of them slowly charges the Pixel 6, while the other just says "connected, not charging" when I plug it in. That's weird... the one that won't charge the Pixel will charge any other device, and so far all other chargers I've tried will charge the Pixel (albeit slowly).
I bought an Anker charger and an extra USBC to USBC cable, so I'm all good, I just thought this was a strange quirk and wondered if anyone else saw this.

How "root friendly" is the Pixel6 compared to the OP6? I don't usually install custom ROMs unless for emergency purposes. Simple root + module such as Magisk, AdAway, Maxlock, XprivacyLua, YT Vanced, InstaPrefs etc. Basically modules that improves app experiences, removes ads and some battery saver while we're at it.
Software update isn't important to me as they can be easily flashed. I usually have automatic updates TURNED OFF, as having it turned on will be a mess for a rooted device.

Not the most ideal fix but you could set up a Nova action --> sound setting.

Glad to hear this! BUT I am just afraid of major software issues. What I meant was in case of a major software issue like a sudden bricking etc.. at least OnePlus provides the MSMDownloadTool as the final option available...
Ah we shall see in the coming months, since the Pixel6 is still relatively new in the market and still unavailable to purchase in my country yet.

My op 3 and 6t charger, 9 pro 65w charger aren't charging my other devices as well. It charges my iPad very slowly. It appears to be connected to charger in my pixel but the battery percentage will still drop with the 9 pro charger lol. It seems to me that pd is not working on op chargers.

Pixel can usually be recovered with fastboot images if you're able to get into the bootloader as long as you have the OEM unlock switch on. You can do it easily with any Chromium based browsers.
As for the root friendly ness, it's about the same if you're not going to overclock or disable thermal throttling.

As long as the bootloader is unlocked, you can flash the factory images via fastboot. Of course, the platform tools need to be up to date and you need to be able to access the bootloader.
I'll hold my purchase of the Pixel 6 for now, until a stable recovery is released. God knows when it will be out, haha!
