[Q] Flashing a different Product Code

Hey peeps,
I flashed a firmware with a different product code to my Lumia 920, and everything works fine. It came with CV-HK but I flashed CV_AU (Australian unbranded).
Just wondering if I will receive OTA updates since the firmware uses a different product code?
I am worried that when Nokia stops allowing users to access NCS, that I will be forever stuck on the current build of the Aussie firmware and wont receive updates (if a future update process checks the product code and blocks the install).
Should I leave it, or should I flash the CV-HK back to the phone just incase?
So I guess that no one has any idea? I've asked everywhere and haven't been able to find an answer.
i think the product code is stored in permanent memory, so likely what will happen is that it will check for OTAs/updates based on your actual product code, basically if you update it will likely just reflash the branded software

I cant imagine an OTA update being 1.2 to 1.4GB. That is what it would take to re-flash a different firmware over the existing one.
I thought that it would notice an incorrect Product Code and not update, or hopefully it would just detect the ROM your using and flash the updated version of that.
Wish someone from Nokia/Microsoft could clarify. Time to hit twitter.

Huawei regionalization question (regions and deployments)

Hello,
I am new to Huawei and wanted to understand more how Huawei was differentiating their devices for each markets. If anyone can comment on the aspect they know for sure, please do so. If unsure, it's ok, but please refrain from misleading.
I just receive a BLA-L29 (C636). Are there many models of the Mate 10 Pro, specifically the BLA-L29? Is the C636 the submodel version number (if so, what is that code called, likely not a submodel). Is there a mapping of those models and the markets/regions they are meant for?
Are firmware deployments by regions only done over OTA? If so, do all devices get them or only when in the region on one of the carriers supported? Any official firmware file distribution, or OTA is the only official method of distribution? Firmware finder is the only other unofficial tool I know of, outside the firmware thread, any other alternative of distributing official firmware for the Huawei devices?
And last but not least, if I know the precise model I have, how is the best way to search for, say firmware 8.0.0.142... Firmware Finder or something/somewhere else?
Cheers, thanks for introducing me to the Huawei hardware variations.

Emui 9, Android 9 DOWNLOAD for P10, P10 Plus, Honor 9, Mate 9 - open beta update

https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-android-9-0-pie-beta-for-huawei/
You're welcome
Just notice:
The regions for the P10 firmware are limited to Latin America, Argentina und China.
Don't flash the firmware before rebranding your phone! It's also possible that you can't use the mobile network in your country with a firmware from a different region.
The Chinese versions, AL00 and TL00 don't have Google services including play store installed.
So, don't install anything without knowing what you do
I still wait for C432E1R1P8 and try flash to Pie Beta ??*

Do you have to rebrand first? What happens if you don't rebrand before flashing this?
I read that it will make you region C900 but nobody said if C900 is a problem. It's just the international version.
So you could still use the phone on region c900 right?
Possibly single/dual sim will be affected?
I don't know if it works different with pie, but my last information is, that you can't install it. The recover, even the NoCheck version, checks the oeminfo partition first. I also never heard about C900 VTR models, the international version without branding is C432, while this code is for France / Western Europe on older devices.
It can happen, that your phone shows developer version. Then you'll have some problems to rebrand to a real version with pie, because there are no oeminfo files for pie, yet.
If your phone is in developer mode, you're able to use it as normal but you won't be able to update via OTA or even with methods like HWOTA8.
Is it worth to upgrade to Android Pie 9.0 ? Does anybody has some experience with it ? I read somewhere that 9.0 works much more with Ai algorithms. Like prediction, etc. Beside that Ai for OS usability i am more curios if / interested in:
- if it uses less RAM memory
- if it use less battery power
- if it has a performance boost overall
If all of this points are opposite on 9.0 , i donĀ“t see any benefits in it.

What if we rebrand to version C605 which is this 9.0 firmware region then flash the rom.
Theoretically if this is the first firmware available in europe for Pie then we should get an update of final version soon after right?
So won't need to rebrand later and by that time Pie will be full release??
The main concern is to make sure bootloader code does not change during rebranding because then we're stuck.

C605 is for Latin America / Columbia. If they use other network frequencies than Europe and Huawei specified those frequencies in the firmwares than you're not able to use it here.
But yes, you should be able to rebrand to C605 by flashing the correct oeminfo. Rebrand on Oreo first before you update to Pie.
The bootloader code shouldn't change because of rebranding, it's hard coded into the bootloader and Huawei uses serial, model number (not region) and IMEI to make the code, those information won't change.
If you'll get updates while using a phone in a different region as the firmware says, isn't clearly, yet. Huaweis update plitics are a miracle, some guys still stuck on Nougat, some guys are getting the newest updates.
Update manually if you want to be up to date.
Guys I'm from Argentina and want to install emui 9. Tried to move to SD but fat32 has 4gb files limit. Is there any way to install it from internal storage?
Format SD to NTSF
So, did anybody from Europe rebranded and got it working with gsm properly? If so, to which region did u rebranded? Thank you.
Good evening to everyone. Is there a twrp for p 10 EMUI 9? Thank you
