I'm planning to buy a quick charger for my Z3. Maybe i'll buy this one. I just want to know, what cable should i use? or will the default cable of the Z3 would enable quick charge? Here is the charger i'm planning to buy. Is quick charge cable dependent as well? can't find any post about the cables.

I thought it was a Quickcharger (EP880), the one that came with the phone.
It is EP881.
If you buy a EP881, they give you a EP880 power adapter(this already comes with the phone) and a different looking usb cable. so i would say if you buy a z3 you already have a quick charger. someone in the z3 compact forums confirms this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/accessories/magnetic-dock-quick-charger-t2926784
also if you google EP881 you can see multiple images of the EP880 power adapter.
i hope this clears up any confusion
EP880 is not a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger
FYI, just received a Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 compatible charger and the Z3 definitely takes advantage of it. I have the Tenergy Turbo charger and the light is blue for normal charging and green for Quick charge 2.0. The only downside is it doesn't seem to work using the magnetic charging port, only directly into USB.
Roughly how fast do you get a full charge?
I read that with 2.0 it rapid charges to ~65% and then normal rate.

Not sure since I only had it on for a little while testing today. No I don't feel like running down my battery and testing it, it takes to long to run down the battery
It absolutely, definitely charges at QC 2.0 speeds though, but only via the USB directly into the phone, not through the magnetic charger.

proof? sony seem to think they are considering when you buy EP881 you buy is actually a combination of EP880 and a usb cable.
did you buy an EP881? if so what model number is on the brick?

they are "quick charge" but not Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 spec. Maximum output for the EP880 is 5v 1500mA. Quick Charge 2.0 charges at 5v 2000mA (2A) or 9v 2A, or 12v 1.5A

Charger provided with my Sony Xperia z3 got short circuit (burning smell from the head piece) on the 1st charge itself. It was replaced in the sony service center. The issue is, the output the replaced charger was 5V-1500mAH. I forgot the output rating the charger provided in the box. Please confirm the output rating by the pic. Based on your inputs, I will raise a request to my retailer to provide. Please find the rating of the replaced charger.

If my memory stands correct, box version of the charger rating was mentioned as 3000mAh or 2000mAH. I might have misread it in the frenzy of getting Z3 and I am the 1st buyer in Chennai, atleast that's wat the retailer told me.
I forgot to take a snapshot at tat time. My USB cable version is EC803 and Charger (provided by service center) is EP880. I have searched throughout the internet and no where the output rating of Z3 box version of charger was mentioned.

I really wish Sony would have included a quick charger in the box....
I am disappointed that the quick charge is not working with the magnetic charging port... did you try using the adapter or the usb cable when you tested if it charged faster with the magnetic port?

"quick charge" or charging at 5v 2A (2000mA) works through the magnetic charging port. This is still very fast.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, which charges at 9v 2A does not work through the magnetic port, which is not a surprise to me.
I got my phone today, and one of the first things that I did was test all of the Chargers.
My first thought is that the one plus cable that I bought is very high quality. Every charger that I tested, it charge faster than the cheapo ones that I bought on Amazon.
However, what I've been consistently surprised with is that using the same cable this phone charges faster on a Qualcomm quick charge 2 charger than it does on a standard USB charger. I've tested this with all sorts of Chargers around my house and I'm consistently seeing around 1500 when connected to a quick charger, and only a thousand when connected to a standard charger.
The USB C charger that came with the phone is significantly faster. However I wanted to share this so that for those others who bought all sorts of Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 Chargers, don't throw them out. They're still better than a regular charger.
Yeah on a good USB 3.1 cable (nice and thick) with my standard quickcharge charging block (7 ports, 60W total IIRC) I get 'charging rapidly' and it charges better than 1% a minute - about the same rate my N5 did on a much smaller battery. I've still not taken the google charger out of its box yet.. Need to get around to testing it even if I can't see myself using it.

I am curious as to what "standard" chargers you are using. I have a wall charger rated at 5v 2.1a (non-QC) per port and a car charger rated at 5v 2.4a (non-QC) per port, and both of those charge at 1500ma. Is it possible that your "standard" chargers are only rated for 5v 1a output?

Bought that one though still waiting on my phone. Like that it has micro USB too for other devices. Charges my HAM2 very fast.
Your results have nothing to do with them being QuickCharge bricks, I have a inline amp meter and I can get 1.5 on any brick with an amp rating high enough, not just my QC bricks that I was using with my Moto X. At least people will know if they have a QC brick they'll get at least that though.

I've always found the battery in this phone to be poor.
I've owned years of Xperias and only one other had a bad battery life (Sola). This very often won't reach 1 day even on half brightness. I don't use this phone any more than the last one, or the one before, so it's the phone not my usage.
I just asked Sony and it doesn't use Quick Charge 2.0. That explains it. It charges so slowly.
The stock charger pumps out 850mAh. I see some chargers pumping out 1500mAh. What would happen to our phone? Would it charge even a little bit faster? Is it a threat to the phone's health?

It shouldn't really damage phone I'm using 2.1mAh output charger on my current phone Lg L7 II while waiting for new phone (M4 Aqua) and it charges really fast, lasts long and no problems so far

My first instinct was to browse on eBay. I'm going to get one there. Watch out though! There are many non-Sony chargers and some of them don't look trustworthy. Also, many of them say output 5.0V. But at which speed? 850 mAh or 1500 mAh? Some say 5.0V=850 mAh and others say 5.0V=1500 mAh. So, if you don't shop carefully, you may get the 850 charger all over again!

BUT...I checked Qualcomm's compatible device list, there are some Sony Xperia devices but the Z5 series mostly, not the M4. So, it would charge the phone but at a much slower rate...1500 maybe? But not Quick Charge 2.0 speed. So the older EP880 charger of 1500 mAh seems to be the max for this chipset/device.

Well I don't know really Qualcomm page says that snapdragon 200 supports QuickCharge 2.0. Yet I don't have any issues with it. It takes around 1hour 10mins to charge from 4% to 100% 2450mAh battery
Just to point out that in my research Qualcomms "Quick Charge" uses a higher voltage output while you're not using your phone.
These chargers are "smart" in that they communicate with the phones chip to give the OK on fast charging. If they don't they'll stick to universal 5v output.
You can buy other aftermarket "fast chargers" and these only output 5v but at higher amps. I use a 4.2amp charger for all my devices, my M4 takes about 50 minutes from 10-100%.
Also note that devices generally will only draw what they need/want. If a device only requires 1 amp and you use a 2+amp charger, it will only draw 1 amp.

You may have seen that we're confused about the M4's capabilities. Sony says it cannot support Quick Charge 2.0. Qualcomm lists that chip (in some, not all, I noticed) pages on their site as supporting Quick Charge 2.0. Do you know if it does?
I'm new to learning about devices drawing power. Would you mind giving a brief run down on what the M4 can draw in terms of power, what the stock charger draws? Then we could see better what a 4.2amp does.

the difference is generally in the kernel
for example, the lg g2 mini has an SD 400 that supports QC 1.0 and is not functional in the stock rom, but with modded kernel that feature was enabled and the phone charges faster with a 2A charger

Can you point to an example for QC2.0? For 2.0, the charging circuitry must be able to sense and adjust voltage and current draw from 5v to 12v with steps in between. QC 1.0 is Qualcomm's implementation/branding traditional 5v/2A charging. Also, QC 2.0 circuitry can be licensed and implemented in other SOCs as is evidenced by the ZenPhone 2 (Intel) and Galaxy S6 (Exynos).
You're right that QC2.0 can be implemented at the Kernel level IF the underlying circuitry is already there (as was the case with the SD800 powered LG G2). That said, if the supporting circuitry is not there (independent of the SOC) it can't just be enabled in software.

Check the capacity of the chargers.
The original M-charger has a capacity of 1,6 A at 5V. You can use any charger with at least that capacity.

Thanks. However, i also wanted to know the experience of existing users with these chargers, including power issues etc. I think I saw somewhere that the micro USB side of a quick charger melted when it was kept on in the power socket?

Get the Aukey one, it has a really really good review rate at Amazon. It also should come with a cable so you shouldn't be worried about that one.

I prefer wireless charging for my N4 and N6.
I am using cheap QI-chargers on several places. The QI-pads can be used with almost any USB charger. Of course wireless charging is slow.
I'm thinking of going with the Tronsmart WC1Q as it is cheap and has good Amazon reviews. I'm not really technical when it comes to chargers. This is the technical info: 5V/2.1A 9V/2A 12V/1.5A. Can anyone confirm if the power details of this charger will be fine with Nexus 6?

As long as it is Certified by qualcomm you should be fine.

I recommend the aukey as well, I used it for my moto x 2nd gen and now my Nexus 6.

In my experience and from others Anker makes good products might want to check into them. And a good charging cable is just as important.

I have an Aukey and a Tronsmart. Both work well. Strangely enough, the quality of your USB cable also appears to play a legitimate role in whether Quick Charge2.0 is consistently recognized and used. In other words, high quality charger AND high quality cable is recommended!

Most important is the 5V/2.1A. This is better than the original Motorola charger I have.
The other values are for Quick charging.
Also better than the original charger.
But I don't know if this Tronsmart is compatible with the quick charging mode of Motorola.

Not at all... the phone is made to be compatible with QC. You can even use the QC charger with a phone that doesn't support it, what will happen is that the charger won't activate the QC and just charge at normal speed.

As long as it is Qualcomm 2.0 Certified it is supposed to work. Motorola's "turbo charge" is just a rebranded Qualcomm 2.0 Quick Charge.
I have just tried the Aukey in your list with my N6 and it did not work as a fast charger even tough the specs of the charger says so. to get the N6 to charge at QC2 you will need a charger with 9V 2A or at least 1.6A to reach approximately 14.4 watt.
many chargers do have the said specs but they won't recognize the N6 as a fast charging phone unfortunately. meanwhile still searching

My aukey works just fine, been using it for a while now. I even have a aukey portable battery charger with QC 2.0 and it works great as well, especially when I go out and play Pokémon Go

I use this one and it works perfectly for me. It has an LED that changes color depending on whether it is in normal charging or fast charging mode. Unfortunately, I don't think it is on your list.

I am getting a kind of a weird experience this end. I use my Huawei quick charger of the mate 8, and it is only recognized by the Motorola Nexus 6 as a fast charger after I reboot the mobile then it starts charging at 9.15 V and 1.36 Amps. it does fast charge at this volt and amps at highs of 2240 mAps on Ampere application !!
I could not figure out another way to get the charger to recognize the Nexus 6 as a fast charging phone except by rebooting, and still working on it. in the meantime I have ordered a Choetech QC 3.0 and waiting for arrival. my question does this happen on your chargers or does it connect directly to 9V when connected to chargers like Aukey, Tronsmart, Anker etc. ??
Guys, is it normal that the phone get heated like an iron box when charging ? ( Well I noted that this happens only if my battery is below 50-60% ) Using Stock charger. Same happens (heating, but temperature is lower than before) even when I use One+ charger.

Good I stopped by XDA before purchasing it.
It does say if you scroll down on its specs it's a QC4 charger, but I assumed the described output would be a sum of both USB ports working simultaneously.

It's indeed just a QC 4.0 charger. Will only do 18W.
Hi, I have one. For it to work properly you have to have the cable of more than 30w.
Load much faster than the original that comes in the box. I did a quick test from 75% to 100% with the phone turned off and charged in 25min; so you can assume if it's fast or not.
WTF ; does this phone even do QC4 ... the Xiaomi offical charger is 3.0 and I bought a $68 dollars Belkin QC : 4.0+ offical as per reviews and it caps out at. 3470 : it NEVER has said fast or TURBO and it ofen Ampere reports 1800 mah ? Can anyone explain this in any way

I suspect that Turbo Charge only happens with the 27W factory charger.
Because my Hama QC4+ charger, certified by Qualcomm, charges definitely faster than the 18W charger found in the package, but does not say Charge Fast or even Charge Turbo.

Call me crazy but I think it will charge the device at 27W speed.
A lot of people don't seem to realize but the "Xiaomi Turbo Charger 27W" is actually QC3, not QC4+, and it does charge the device at 27W. If you find a QC4+ charger that supports 27W and up, you will still get 27W charging but you won't see "Charge Turbo" because it will use the better, newer charging standard.
This can make charge turbo QC 3.0 and it's cheaper and with more ports:

Yeah but it can only charge at standard QC3 speeds, aka 18W at max. 9V/2A like the original one does. But the original one can also do 12V/1.5A. So it does not "Turbo Charge".
Careful many poster here are confused. My BELKIN true QC4.0+ never ever charged over 3200mA and averaged out at under 2200mA. Posters who speak about things without testing their theories are really frustrating. Do yourself a favor don't believe this phone accepts QC4 or QC 4.0+ (at least not @July 2019) only QC 3.0 NON FAKE xiaomi 27w can do the 4600mA + it would seem. Turbo charging is required for extremely rapid charge times. Make sure you get OFFICIAL 20V 1.35A from Xiaomi for Turbo Charge sustained charge and under one hour 0--100%
I also purchased a QC 4.0+ Hama DC charger cause Xiaomi doesn't make a DC charger to my knowledge. Guess what ; 18w ish charging speeds .. no Fast or Turbo classification ...
XIAOMI Hoe do you call this phone a QC 4.0/4.0+ unit !!! Cause look close at the charger Turbo pictures they are all using the "Original QC 3.0 Xiaomi charger that we ALL should have got in the box. Instead many of us have wasted tonnes of money and time buying useless to us QC 4.0+ tech that doesn't work or WORSE fake chargers that don't do more than 18w !! By the time we we have ordered 3-4 different chargers trying to get it to work we have to order it on Ali or gearbest or Gearvita. Cause the company does make them after all!! Enjoy the brutal shipping fees and heavy wait times. Well we order this and that trying to get the darn thing to work. So annoyed right now
Hi, I got the original charger and this if it gives the turbocharged 27w charge, however the baseus charger charges the same as the one that comes in the box or with the wireless charge.

I also have the Baseus charger mentioned above (BS-EU906), the variant with 2 usb A ports.
When I charge with the cable from my samsung galaxy tab S5e it charges with a bit over 4200mA 20w-21w.
But when I charge with my Baseus 2m 5a capable cable (CATSS-B0G), it never goes above 3400mA ~14w.
It still chargers fast, but it is not what was advertised. Both the cable and charger are rated for QC3.
Baseus GaN charger 65W + Baseus 5A cable reaches 5000mA in Ampere, which is assuming 5V (that's what Ampere is assuming), equals to 25W. The fact is voltage in QC is never stable, it's the factor that allows it to dynamically supply power based on various parameters: battery temp, device temp, battery capacity and so on. If you have a USB-C USB doctor (and it should be more accurate than any software based monitoring) you can watch yourself that both the voltage and current are alternating constantly.
