[Q] Xperia Z2 Bumper/Case with no access to SD card and Sim/Charging port - Xperia Z2 Accessories

I'm looking for a case or bumper for my new Xperia Z2 - is there a product that has no access to the SD card and SIM/charging port, but has access to headphone jack and volume/camera buttons and the docking area? I won't need access to the SIM/SD card and the bumpers I have looked at that have cut outs for them don't look very nice.
This might be a strange question but thank you to anybody that can help me!

I have been looking online for hours maybe there is no such thing

I don't think there is, I've never seen one.

I've just received this, it's not the best fit though, a little lateral play. I'm considering packing it with some thin rubber to remove that, but it probably won't last as I work in the railway and want something a bit tougher

I am presuming this is not meant to be a sensible suggestion. What would you use to clean your ears? The metal eraser holder on the end of the pencil can be a bit sharp
They do come off quite easy. Luckilly the one I had that came off was going in for warranty replacement anyways.

How to seal the 3.5mm audio headjack port?

Hi guys,
Dust has been collecting in my Blackstone's 3.5mm port and I don't really use the port. So I've been wondering if there's some sort of rubber piece that I could buy to fill the whole up to prevent more dust from accumulating?
I've found this post but that turned up dead links on Ebay. However, other searches have led me to i-Close but it's not in English and I'm not sure if they even ship internationally.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Dug around a bit and found these, a bit expensive though !!

Steeve,
Thank you so much, this is exactly what Im looking for. But the problem is...Im not in the UK.
Cheers.
I personally like having a rubber cover for it, and if I wanted to block up the port I'd put a small piece of black paper/card over the hole. If you're able to divert sound away from using the headphone socket, you could maybe put a jack in and cut it right down so it doesn't stick out = you'd have a radio antenna.
Hi guys,
I managed to purchase the ebay link mentioned above. I'll report back to you guys how it fares once I've received it.
Cheers.

Hi guys,
I've received the items and I would have to say that this is PERFECT (for me). It is even cute in the sense that the stub makes it look like a little ol' antenna.
Here are the pictures as promised.
Cheers.
thanks for the pics, Wolf. but seems a little big for my taste, doesn't it come off when u slid the phone in your pocket or when u take it out?

Insane,
You're welcome. It really isn't that big in my opinion. And no, until today, it has not slipped, not even once. It's really sturdy.
Cheers.

Dust cap

Anyone knows where to get a replacement? I think it's what it's called. It's the small plastic cap on top of the phone over the cable socket. Lost mine at some point...
There is probably no replacement for this. Either live with it or replace the whole housing.

Why would you replace an entire case for a lost dust cap?
I'd be very happy if that thing fell off. Makes it impossible to plug charger in in the dark or with one hand!

You mean they last more that two days then It is so much easier to connect the cable without it - shame there isn't a thing to fill the holes it leaves behind though (aside from the USB one that is).
Go to a site called "netimes.com" and type "micro usb" into there search box .I.ve ordered a pair already, will let you know what they're like when they arrive.

The black casing does not show the dust cap, whereas the white casing does...
Yup, true genius engineering design went into that usb connector. (Same guy tested the in-call volume in a sound proof room).
What?!?! Put the connector at the bottom and be like everyone else?? No X10 owner would want to put the device into a docking stand. That would just be foolish.
My previous phone, an HTC Cruise, has the connection at the bottom with no cover. In more than a year of being in my shirt pocket on a daily basis the mini-usb never got any dust in it. At least not enough to ever prevent a good usb connection.

Replacing plastic cap for charging port

I have the tablet for a couple of weeks now and the plastic cap on the micro usb charging port has a bent in the middle and wouldn't
close the hole tight any more.
Is it possible to replace the cap without sending the tablet to a service station ?
I have the issue on the charging port as well, let me know what you find out

I sent mine to Texas after receiving RMA#. I've been waiting over 3 weeks to have it fixed. Tried to buy the cap but could not find it anywhere. I have only found port cover for Xperia phone Z but wasn't sure if they match those on the tablet. Anyway it is fixed now and recently I bought a cradle and it works great. I think it is a must to avoid damaging those covers. Pricey but I think it looks good, functions properly and it is great for watching movies, playing games and typing.
Bottom line send the tablet back to Sony and in the same time get a cradle and you will not have any issues with the tablet's waterproof tabs.

Thanks. I am sure the cradle is the best solution but not very practical when traveling and charging on the road on trains or air plains.
the cap must have a design flow if it breaks only after a couple of weeks.
Agreed. It was not the greatest engineering marvel. Cradle is in fact very thin and it fits the tablet very snug so I don't see any problem of taking it with me when I go. The threaded plug port with an o-ring would have been much better solution than that cheesy tab. But then again not many people would have bought a cradle. It is a good product but like most electronics it has its flows. My advice try not to open those tabs too often or better avoid opening them altogether. They will last forever. Bluetooth headphones, cradle, WiFi can easily facilitate it.

I would prefer that Sony replaced these, but they told me that when the tiny piece of plastic bends and breaks that it's considered physical damage. I find that odd that a main selling point is its resistance to damage but the part that protects from damage breaks off with normal use. I had to settle for replacement covers I found on ebay.

I also bought one from ebay but i have no idea how to replace it. did you already replace it and if so how ?
I had this situation that the cap got bend because I forgot to put it back after closing the tablet cover over it. I was able to bend it a bit the other side and also notice the little pin needed to be straighten so that it will fit back in place. This is when I notice the hole next to the usb to be used when the cap is open you insert the cap pin in it.

no there's not need for me to remove it close perfectly .... but if you take the manual it says hole for cover
You need to remove the back panel first. There is a video on yt. Seems easy to do it.BTW where did you get those tabs??? Can you send a link?

I don't know if that could work as a replacement part: something that looks like the current part, but with an extra rubber plug that would fit inside the mini usb port to hold it in place...
Seems like I now have a reason to get a 3D printer :S
**EDIT***
I remembered something I saw a few years back, is called Sugru, a moldable rubber that cures and can be used for almost anything. Search them out on Google.

well the problem with removing the back is that it is not waterproof any more when you put it back on
here is a link from where i got mine : battery-cover.de/product_info.php?info=p102_abdeckung-usb-anschluss-tablet-z-weiss-black.html
Btw are you talking a bout a video of replacing the cap or a video about dissabling the tablet ?
From what I've seen the tab cover has a "nipple" which can be squeezed and pushed through the hole (from the inside of the tablet). I don't think it is easily or even possible to do it from the outside. Besides I think the back panel acts like a gasket and seals the inside so I don't understand why would the tablet lose its waterproof capability. Do you have any bad experience?? Besides I don't see why could not you smear very fine silicon layer around the mating parts and make it 100% waterproof! Disassembly is here: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zczfTnBFqtA
Good luck and let us know how did you make out.

The price ofc. is terrible for so small thing.
It is a pure rip off. Piece of plastic and rubber priced like silver! Even more reasons now to buy the cradle. Too bad you can't use it for USB transfer. It is a big design flaw and I have no idea why did Sony make such cheap and lousy part!

Search for "USB Cap USB Side Cap Sony Xperia Tablet Z" on ebay, a seller from spain has them, not cheap ($17 usd including shipping), but at least somewhere to find it.
I broke mine and about to order it, what I wonder is how do I remove the still attached plastic part without opening the entire thing...

Anyone have any recommendations?

Buy from somewhere else and replace by yourself or take to sony but this will charge you because not cover by warranty.
Only place is Ebay. Takes 21/2 weeks to get.

Weird though, I just called Sony in Canada and they are willing to fix/replace my phone that has screen problems, usb port flap came off and speaker problems.
Why can't you just buy the part and they send it? (U have to send the device for that silly little piece right?)
I'm also interested cos I have the same problem

Sony needs to change this design...Or...send a couple extra with the device
Buy a magnetic charging cable! Saves the port! Yes you'll still need to open the port for communication of copying files from PC but it would be substantially less compared to opening the port to charge everyday.

If you don't wonna buy new cup, you can buy cheap glue gun,
then you put some glue on your cup, make the hole a little wet, so your glue want stick.
then wait few secs until glue will become a bit harder and close the cup.
Finally, after it will be hard enough, you can cut with razor glue you don't need.
And yeah, you can always warm up that glue with lighter, if you need to do step 2 again.
Works for me, even tested under water, but not for a long time though :good:

you cant replace the rubber gasket....it wont stick. And I tried locktite 401, and it ruined the whole gasket instead of setting it in the right position....perhaps you can do it. But you need a microscope
Thanks! I've found a video on youtube showing how to remove the old one for putting the new one on!
