Hi Guys,
i have an issue i bought this nice tablet in December last year and two weeks ago the display just cracked in my hand when holding it in the lower right corner through its on weight.
now when holding it on the edge one could feel that a sharp edge comes up, please see the picture
anyone else having such an issue, sony is not willing to exchange on warranty, i should pay 200€ to get it repaired?

Wow you must have really have "Hulk" hands. It sucks indeed. They should probably rebrand the tablet as "Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact & Fragile"
Be nice and try to explain it in the store you bought the tablet. Friendly people will be helped easier.
Just tell what happened. If it fell it zould be visible in the frame around the tablet. So I don't think they can really find a lot of other reasons to refuse a warranty repair.

Thanks for the answer. I meant what brand the glass display was made of? Like of the SX Z3, it is made of both Gorilla Glass 3 and Dragontrail X.

i was just told there is no gorilla glass and it has a pentile display can someone show me a spec list for our american version
It does have pentile and it does have Gorilla glass.
The pentile display does not mattery at this pixel density, and will actually just increase battery life and outdoor performance.
If it doesn't have official "Gorilla Glass", keep in mind that Samsung and Gorilla Glass have a joint venture and have used the same type of glass in all of their recent phones.

It DOES have Corning Gorilla Glass.
DURING my pre purchase research about XPERIA ZU through different reliable forums like GsmArena, one thing that clicked and attracted me was It's screen Scratch resistant feature.
But sadly I managed to get two noticeable scratches on the very first day of use. Since my phone was under Warranty, i reported it to Sony and I was given another brand New Phone in exchange.
I advice all you Gadget lovers not to use it without Screen protector (Front n Back).
NOTE:-
SINCE it is new in market, you will hardly get Screen Protector for it. I bought Galaxy TAB 7 Inches Screen protector and managed to cut it to Xperia ZU's size. Atleast to keep it safe until the right screen protectors are easily available.

My screen protector already have some 2 spot of "erased" area. I don't know how the fuk is happened. Very hard to spot this thing but on the sun I can see 2 stains like a dirty glass !!
And I swear I didn't touch my screen with no chemical/hard cloth etc
And if you look closely the Sony logo printed on the protector side again ! I hope I'm wrong. Damn it.
All fault came from Sony still insist stick that stupid "Shutter Proof Sheet" that will get scratch, it is that sheet scratch not the screen itself.

I always find it useful to have a back protector, even if the device is in a case, as bits of dust etc can still work their way into the back of the case and scratch the device :good:

I prefer the "wet" install of the xtreme guards as I find it easier to put on without getting bubbles under the film. Does anyone else find the same or is it just me?
It might be "scratch resistant" but not "scratch proof" even Gorilla glass 3 is not scratch proof and if you think otherwise try with some sand.
do we install Xtremeguard over original or do we have to remove the factory installed 'shatter-film' first?
Few days after buying I went to the store and looked at the display model screen bcoz and ithe screen definitely had quite a few scrathes and keep in mind that its only being handled not shoved into pockets etc. So I immediately got scratch gaurd. so get a scratch gaurd and don't trust the manufacturers when they tell you it's scratch resistant or scratch proof.

How do you guys even believe this?
Sure one screen can be more, or even much more scratch resistant then the other but no matter what all screens will scratch.
Take some beach sand, put it on your screen and go rub it on the table! Even glass scratches, sure a metal key wont do it, but grains of dust will which have sand in them.
Not using a screen protector simply means you dont care about scratches. In the end when the screen is on, its very hard to see them.
Personally i do not remove the plastic cover the screen comes with until i have a screen protector in hand, ready to apply!
Hey guys it scratch resistant not scratch proof moreover theres a extra screen protector thats shatterproof its very thin almost un noticeable and it isnt scratch resistant hence there are many scratch. Theres one in front one in back hard to peel off and notice but its there believe me

Its been long havent posted anything, Got myself Ultra but somehow my slide app tray from left is missing.... does anyone know do i need to check any option or what
.....Now i am writing here is my review of Ultra for people who are thinking to buy it
Good Bit
Snapy as mclaren F1 (being an apple freak in past anderiod never appealed me but this is so quick no disappointment at all)
Being 6.4inch its manageable, Jeans pocket, tracks never had issues to carry it ( Sony have thought very clever on this)
Thin (Trust me its not thicker than a chocolate bar)
Material used feel posh (Not cheapy plastic of Samsung )
Display is very rich thanks to 1080p
No match of its speed, handling heavy items(games video) and thank god it do not get hang while working on it.
Bad Bit
Camera is still not that great give high noise in picture
Speaker level is way to low (INSTALL SOUND BOOSTER APP)
Ear phone quality sucks
Gorrila glass is not very gorilla front glass get scratches very easily (put screen protector both side before start drawing like they show on tv ad)
As its water prof dont play with water too much as this time no lid for earphone jack its been tempered with some water resistant solvent, excessive usage will wear it out( normal life is about years of that solvent)
If someone is confused with black or white I advice white
first back glass in black tends to get lot of finger prints and look dusty
secondly white side Bazel look like metallic aluminum compare to black cheap plastic
Overall
- It used gorilla glass, but sony has applied the screen protector at both side (the do the same with all the xperia family, if you're not recognized, just look closely in the camera ring) so by the nature of the screen protector, it will scratch easily
- don't used any sound volume enlargement apps, it will break your speaker sooner or later, the low volume is a nice trade-off for the water resistance feature
/- The side benzel of Z-ultra is real metal, unlike the Z, so it's not cheap plastic at all (exclude the top and bottom pieces, which is real plastic! @@)

The side drawer (and other features) is a feature from the next update for the ZU which will be released in september, so just hold tight and wait for it.

So the glass itself is actually gorilla glass? Which version is it on the ZU? Then why would sony put the shatterproof film when other manufacturer which also use gorilla glass didn't put any preinstalled 'screen protector'?

What do you mean by "has applied the screen protector at both side"?, that the phone screen/back are not glass exposed?
yes, the glass itself is not exposed, and covered by a screen protector on both side, which is applied by sony, just look closely at the border and especially the camera area, all the xperia is the same (not sure about tablet z)

The X-Reality engine, and a lot of bug fixes is my guess. I can't really think of other noteworthy features, but they're only a google search away.

Not possible. Try a different launcher and see if you like it better. I recommend Nova Launcher and Apex Laucher.

I recently bought a new Le Max 2. While pressing or touching the screen, I found that the screen tends to bend easily even with the slightest of pressure. Feels like it is made of some thin plastic rather than a glass. Is it normal with all Le Max 2 devices fitted with gorilla glass 3? I'm really scared about this now.

Never ever had anything like this. It feels like solid glass. No flex or bend or white pixels even with more pressure

Does that mean that some of the phones are not fitted with gorilla glass 3? I can easily see that the screen flexes like a thin glass. This is visible while tilting the phone and viewing the surface of the screen, reflections of light or an object becomes wavy towards the point where the pressure is applied. Any other audience faced the similar issue?

Honestly I don't think that some phones are fitted with gorilla glass and some not. From where did you buy the phone?
If you press any glass, it will flex a little bit. I think it may be normal. Do you have any other device to compare?

From flipkart. The reason why I came up with this observation is because i saw some videos of Le Eco 2 with the same screen flexing issue. And I was a bit worried whether it was the same case in Le max 2 too and yes the results weren't pleasing. Now its an annoying little thing for me every time when I play games or type in something..

Nexus 4 I should say. Its pretty solid though it has an old Gorilla Glass 2.

Need recommendation on one protector without the black borders (all those with black borders always steal a little bit of screen
Need a all clear one that cover all pixels, and a little bit of the pixel less black bezels
I dont mind if dont cover all of the bottom bezel
All post about glass protecror dont point to one

took 1 month to arrive, been using it for one week
Perfect, it covers like 1.5mm after pixels on each side
More clear than the one i was using before
No good at avoiding fingerprints, but i dont care about it
