Gear S Tizen UI Issue - Samsung Gear S

Something strange happened after I reset my SM-R750P. Everything is working fine via Gear Manager, however the UI isn't available and as a result, I can't select or navigate to anything on the device. I am able to answer calls and receive notifications, but nothing else. I've already tried several resets, but the problem persists. I even tried flashing the rootfs.img from a stock SM-R750W since Sprint doesn't have their firmware available and no difference.

you ruined any chance of recovery when you flashed the other firmware....

Sadly...

Okay, so the device isn't dead. I need the original firmware from sprint in order to restore functionality. After doing some thorough investigations, I came across some service codes for the device and one in particular, was beneficial *#0808# I was able to put the device in debugging mode and I am able to see the logs via sdb . It seems like a lot of services/applications are not starting up correctly. The snapshot for the sdb log doesn't contain the errors. I'll attach it from my computer.

Hey,
The watch is back in service, it seems your information regarding the SM-750J is sound. Due to the fact that this variant does not contain a SIM slot for GSM variants or the support for CDMA technology on the SM-R750P and SM-R750V, its rootfs.img did the recovery on my SM-R750P. I suspect this may work for persons that have a similar issue.

Successfully flashed using the rootfs.img file, no standalone phone support (no call forwarding/data), everything else is working smoothly.
If you can make root available, I am willing to try that too. In essence, the phone is working like the Wi-Fi only model seen in the SM-R750J

were you ever able to get this watch back up and running. I'm currently stuck in the download mode with a message saying it couldnt do a normal boot.

Hi, yes I was able to. Which model do you have? What exactly was done to cause the issue? You may require a different solution.

[Q] Latest WWE rom

Can anyone download for me the latest firmware with WiFi security fix from here? I need RUU_HTC Gratia_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_2.37.405.11_Radio_47.54.35.20_7.13.35.13_release_223105_signed.exe file, but download seems locked for me, don't know why.
I just tried to download the RUU but it seems that the file is missing. Either they have removed it or it is temporarily unavailable.
Maybe somebody downloaded it and has it saved and can could upload it
What are the 6th and 7th characters in your device serial number? Those two characters are what identify which device you have. It says there is no update necessary for my serial number (which is an AT&T Aria, device code R0).
I have a Gratia, I think that's why it gives us different results. 6th and 7th places are "RJ". This is what I get when I enter my SN. When I click the download button I get a 404

"RJ" is that characters. (for example, H T 1 2 8 R J 0 0 5 1 8, it's not my serial, but leads to the same update)
And yes, branded devices wouldn't get that update, they'll get it later.
Seems that file is absent on HTC's servers for some reasons. Well, I had reported to HTC support, and they could not say anything certain about it, just "contact to service center".
Yes, they don't like to make it easy to get certain RUUs sometimes.
If you load the frame in a new tab and click the download button it gives me this URL but still a 404.

Yep, i've found it already. Thanks nevertheless.
For now i'll wait for HTC support's answer.

I've continued conversation with support. Firstly they've sayed that that update is unapplicable to my russian Gratia, and i should go to the service center if i have any wifi issue. After some explanations (about unavailable update to non-russian but still european phones) they've promised to report to their engineers, and still recommended to contact service center. I don't know what to think about it. The situation looks pretty stupid for now. They have that update and i even know it filename (whoa!) but they don't want me to get that file for some reason.
I can only try to install stock rom to my Gratia and try to get FOTA update, if it's present as FOTA. But i don't think that it'll be successfull. BTW i can loose S-OFF in that case.

I hope you realize that the "wifi security fix" just fixes a software bug in Sense UI. If you are running a custom ROM that is not based on HTC's Sense UI, there is no reason to apply the update.
I know, dude. I'm even use modified CM on Gratia instead of stock rom. But some times ago for some people i've made custom rom (that was based on sense) and i want to keep it updated.

I think the update route is not an option anymore. You should try to flash the firmware with Nokia Care Suite
So.. I downloaded and installed NCS and got files from Navifirm.
However, when I go to Recovery, the Product Support tool doesn't see the data packages - tried rescan, and I have preferences to search in the location where the data is.
Am I missing a step? I have them downloaded, but is there an installation for the data package I'm missing?
Thanks for any help!

Copythe folder holding the files you got from Navifirm to C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products and rename the folder to the model number (as in 'RM-801' for the EU Lumia 800)
Then in NCP do File>open product and select the correct product
Sending the language cabs fixed this for me. No need to reflash or lose any data.
Goodbye for Now, Lumia..
Thank you all for the very helpful and instructive comments.
I did in fact attempt to use cabsender to send all language files to the Lumia; failed. Then tried one at a time; also failed. That's turned out to be the death nell (sp?)
I finally got the hang of NCS, got the correct files to appear, and also did the manual driver installations for x64. NCS could read my phone, but when I did the actual recovery, no matter what the phone just would not go into recovery. Would always power up and stick me either on starting or on checking mode. I even tried different button hold combos and then just not pressing anything - to no avail.
So it left me with a phone that could take and receive phone calls, but no access to ANYTHING requiring alpha input - including SMS and email.
Looking back, I think I may have also had a hardware issue. I could never get bluetooth to keep a connection properly - and many other RM-801 owners told me theirs worked fine; mine was not under warranty so was stuck. I don't know if that had anything to do with the phone rejecting the language files for 8112 and 8773, or with it not responding to any flash attempts - but wouldn't be surprised.
Today, I am thanking the Gods that I never got around to selling my HD7. I recommissioned it and got the new SIM for it and it's up and running nicely now. I figure if anyone dumps a Lumia *900 for less than $100, I'll go for it, but otherwise am intending to use this until I get my hands on a WP8 near the end of the year.
I found to my surprise that using the larger screen on the HD7 though less pretty was really refreshing. I love the form factor of the Lumia 800, but I think the Metro UI really deserves a bigger screen.
Anyway, congrats to all who had success and again many thanks to those who tried to help me yesterday and last night. Am sure we'll connect again when we have our Lumia Liquid Metal PureView WP8's!
Cheers,

Try doing a simple refurbish instead of recovery. It doesn't require any buton acrobatics, just plug the phone in after starting NCS. The only trick in this case involves renaming the ROM files to match your phones Product Code, If you choose to flash with different variant.

Interesting; I'll give it a try!
I did remember that cabsender does a restore, but that didn't work.
I thought of the refurbish, but the software wouldn't appear. I will try your method after work tonight. Might be the trick.
Still suspicious of my phone's hardware, but man, I can live with it until WP8..

Don't even bother with cabsender recovery - it uses Zune and Zune backups are uttterly useless.
NCS recovery means flashing a dead phone (or playing dead to force a different variant ROM) - that's where you need VolUp while powering on.
NCS refurbish means flashing a working phone - you plug it in normally and ROM file names must match your product code.

Hey Skrypek, you just SAVED me!! The file renaming followed by refurbish did the trick!
Also used your method to update to a UK Variant of Tango for the RM-801 - and went SMOOTHLY with no downloading and screwing around with language packs or cab files. Everything is running perfectly and can access all alpha functions SMS MMS, Email, Wifi, About Phone - i.e. every single thing that had been malfunctioning before.
I am now a strong fan of Navifirm + Nokia Care Suite - VERY easy to work with.
Now I just have to visit the T-Mobile folks and get a new microsim card!
(edit, feeling adventurous again, I cut my SIM card - SUCCESS - so now don't have to shell out another $20 to T-Mobile )
Many thanks!
I really thought I had a brick and had posted an ebay auction for parts; glad I was able to snag the listing back!
Cheers,
Skrypek..
Did I tell you you're amazing?
Thanks again!!!!
Nice to have my Lumia back!!!

[Q] [Help] Bricked my ZTE V965

Bought a ZTE V965 because it was a special offer and I wanted to give android a try. Nice phone for the money, hardware wise, but software wise it needed some work. No google apps! I rooted the phone with vroot, worked fine. Installed SuperSU and CWM, seemed fine, but CWM is not fully functional. When I boot in restore mode, it doesnt mention CWM, it seems to be the native restore mode.
Tried to install google apps as APK's, but this didnt work. Play store closes instantly. Can't login chrome. Tried to install gapps.zip in recovery mode, error message, not working. I gave the phone a factory reset a few times during all this, and that worked fine.
Then I read a guide for manually installing gapps to the system app folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428314
So I installed root explorer, and put several gapps files in the system app folder:
OneTime Initializer.apk
GoogleLoginService.apk
Google Services Framework.apk
Setup Wizard.apk
Gmail.apk
Still not working though, gmail app crashes.
So I wanted to factory reset again, to start with a blank canvas. Big mistake!!! After the factory reset, the google files are not removed! Now when I boot the phone the setup wizard starts and crashes. I haven't found a way to get around it. What makes things worse, the phone is no longer detected when connected to my PC. Before ADB toolkit would detect the phone, no problem. Now nothing.
Any ideas what I can do? All that is necessary (I expect) is that this setupwizard is killed/bypassed/whatever, but I can't figure out how to do it.
I can get into the emergency number dialer, maybe something is possible from there?
Well, as always, immediately after posting, I made some progress! I booted the phone, and got a low battery warning, from which I could access the settings and enable USB debugging. Now I have ADB toolkit connected again. Also, I went into application settings, to kill and disable all these gapps. I managed to do this for all but one, the biggest problem: setupwizard.apk. Maybe because it's running i can't disable it? The option is greyed out. So when I reboot, I still get the setup wizard that crashes.
However, I do have what i believe is a stock ROM (from a chinese website, hard to be sure, but the name suggests it). Might try to flash that one using adb-toolkit.
Finally managed to fix it using linux shell. Killed the setupwizard task, deleted all gapps from system/app, problem solved.
Still would very much like to have working Gapps though. Hopefully this phone will become more popular outside China, so more people will look into flashing it. I've tried, but I can't do it. No fastboot drivers, and the native flash method (putting update.zip on phoen storage) doesn't work. For now I'll stick with the stock ROM and just use it in it's very limited state.
chance you can put a link to that stock ROM you found?

Annoyances:
- not recognizing callers, some incompatibilities caused by country prefixes in my address book
- no badge notifications on icons, makes it harder too see missed calls, have to look at status bar
- some other stuff i can't think of now

Make sure phone is rooted.
Use MTK tools to install CWM zip package (just follow the instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44660171&postcount=417)

Bricked Tmobile lg-k7

Hello Everyone,
I have a questions and hopefully some one can help me out here. My son has bricked my phone and I believe it is a soft brick... could be wrong. However, I need to find away too unbrick it.
I can get into hard reset with out issues. however with everything I do, I can't get into recovery what's so ever. The phone just hangs at the loading screen. I have talked to my son in order to find out what he did and this is exactly what he told me
He installed king root and attempted to replace-kinguser-with-supersu. However when he installed the application, it asked to reboot the phone. Well he rebooted the phone and now it is stuck at the loading screen and wont go any further than that. He also told me that he did not remove kingroot prior too the reboot. Please help! as I need my phone for work.
I am out of options on what too do. I would post the guide he used but I am limited due too the spamming regulations of the board.
Any one have an idea on how to unsoft brick this phone? I am all out of options as the only two options I have are hard boot and download mode.

According to the good people here on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/qa-metro-pcs-lg-k7-lgms330-t3331678 there is only a paid solution at the moment.
http://lg-firmware-rom.com/download...330-dll-for-lg-up-unbrick-lg-k330-with-lg-up/
if it is a lg k7 k330 (tmo) i followed this guide http://www.repairshopusa.com/phone/lg-k7-k330-unbrick-method/
Thank you for the information. However the lgup application does not recognize my phone. Indicates that the model is "Unknown"
Guess i am out of luck lol
Not uncommon. Sometimes you need to unplug and replug the device back in or close and reopen the program.
Thank you for the information. Does the USB debugging option need to be enabled because if it does, I don't think it is as the my computer does not recognize my device at all. Under computer, it shows as k7. However when I got into the device manager it indicated "LGE Android MTP device".
No. USB Debugging only works while booted into the system or recovery. You must be in Download Mode for the LG Up tool.
At this time, I am really frustrated as nothing is currently working at this time. Possibly because the phone just went under a hard reset. I have changed the port too 41 and ran the flash tool and that was not able too pick up my phone either. Also, I can't seem to get the lgup to work correctly as it's still not working correctly.
I have uninstalled the applications belonging too lg, rebooted and then reinstalled them and I still get the same thing. I have attached screen shots below. lgup does indicate the firmware I need, however I can't get too it lol

If I remember right, you have to make it search for *.kdz otherwise it's looking for .tot files, which is why it's probably not seeing the firmware you need.

Yes you are correct. However the file that I have downloaded from the link below doesn't actually provide you with a kdz file. The file provided you the files that have been extracted from the kdz file, which are the (LGK330.dz) file
Ah, weird. Never worked on an LG that didn't use .tot, .kdz, or .bin files. I guess just search for *.dz and it should load according to the link the other guy put up.

How's it going man, I need your help I have a ms330 stuck in 9008 mode with an unlocked bootloader. Everything I've tried has failed and I'm stuck. I only owned this phone for 6hrs before I screwed it up any help will be appreciated!!

Xperia XZ1 701so doesn't recognize SIM nor does Wifi work stuck on startup

Hello everyone.
I have just got this phone brought to me by my little brother. It seems that phone is made for Japanese network (Softbank)
according to him, he downloaded few apps and was using it for few week until recently there was a problem and the phone had some issues. So he took it to repairer and the phone was flashed back to the company default
But now the issue is that the phone doesn't recognize any SIM and also WIFI searching forever without finding any network. I am not able to pass through this initial phone setup configuration to find out what exactly is wrong with the phone
Although phone restart with inserting SIM but soon as it boots to setup it acts like no SIM is inserted and prompt to connect to either network.
I have used Xperia companion with no luck cause the file size taking very long and my internet connection is not stable and failed on many attempts
Downloaded the exact Japanese firmware from Xperifirm and flashed using newflasher but still could not pass the setup due to no connection
I am not able to even skip that network and initial setup like all other android phone because the phone has to be connected to network and there is not step to skip
What could have gone wrong with the phone. Is this a software issue because the phone bricked by that guy accidently did something to software stuff or is it hardware issue? any urgent assistance would be highly appreciated.
I haven't touched the bootloader yet and as far I know it cant be unlocked?
Please help me resolving this issue
usually it happens when flashing the wrong baseband or modem firmware from another japanese firmware e.g. au kddi/docomo firmware, clean flash via newflasher should fix the problem, make sure to download the right firmware for your model (701SO),not au kddi or docomo...
if problem still exist after flash it,try to flash the global firmware (try CE1 firmware),it will convert your device to global variant(but nfc will not work and deep sleep not working)
good luck :good:

Hi and thanks @filandry
I have downloaded the exact copy of firmware as per my model (701so) and I even downloaded the UK customised version today and flashed it. The phone boots to setup but same issue no SIM detection and no wifi activity. I can't even see SIM or WIFI icons on the status bar
I am now thinking of whether if it's possible to somehow find this setup file and delete it in the firmware folder and then flash the firmware to see if it works when it gets to phone.
It will also help me checking the IMEI and other stuff but just wondering if its possible?
I know there maybe still few options to get the phone somehow into desktop but I am kinda newbie into sony phones and i wouldn't mind doing it
Edit; Just forgot the CE1 firmware part. How different is it from UK customised version? You really sure this will make a difference? Cause downloading a big file is a very daunting task for me as I am living in a place where we barely get 512 KB (shared 1:3) download time take a whole day for me.

you can try this via adb (i'm not sure if you can connect via adb since usb debugging not turning on)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4i/trick-skip-wifi-setup-setup-wizard-t3524419
or...try to boot up in safe mode
you can google it how to enter safe mode

Thanks for replying.
Adb can't be done since it needs usb debugging turned on and for that I need to get to the phone settings.
Safe mode already tried in the past and done it again for this new firmware but same issue
I wish i could flash custom rom so that its start-up settings might be different and no need to be connected
I really need help here if I still have an option
