dual boot would be great

Flashing Ubuntu devices to Android or the other way round is possible but not easy. You have to repartition your device to fit the other OS'es needs. If you want, you can find some information on the internet regarding that.
The Android files are still there because Ubuntu relies on some Android code for harware drivers. That makes it easy for harware vendors to get started.

Hey!
I just want to confirm that I was able to flash Flyme OS 4.0.4A into my MX4 Ubuntu edition instead of Flyme 4.1.1A, and most importantly that I got an OTA upgrade to 4.2.8.2A
So now, I am running Flyme OS 4.2.8.2A Android 4.4.2 on my MX4 Ubuntu Edition.

Let's rock! First thing, maybe I'm to stupid - how to get to the fastboot mode? I'm pressing simultaneously Vol-down and Power button, however it switches on and boots in normal mode

lol no, you are not! because I had the same issue before, but actually it's not an issue. It just take longer to get into it rather than the recovery mode.
just make sure it's totally off, then Vol-Down+Power button for longer time then you will get the black screen of fastboot

Ok. Step 1 is done: Fastboot mode -> 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' -> Recovery Mode. In recovery I see Flyme screen with 2 options: install update(it asks for update.zip in root) or clear data. My question is how to transfer update.zip, while ADB is not seeing my phone?
Can I just use "fastboot update update.zip" from my command line while my phone is attached and staying in fastboot mode??

It's very simple. In Windows, just open Computer and you will see the recovery partition showing up, copy and paste it over there and make sure it has the name "update.zip" otherwise it won't detect it. Finally, hit upgrade and wait until it finish.

No, I've updated it through the "Upgrade" app within the Android. It will download the 4.2.8.2A OTA file with 415.29MB on the root folder of the device as update.zip, then it will ask to reboot to upgrade.

Mamdou7 thank you for your answers, there is no need to make a screen shots, while the installation is very simple, just sometimes you have to switch you brain . I figured out to enable dev mode in Flyme and forced recovery boot from ADB, while pressing Vol-up and Power was not helpful. I'm going to try international package, because I'm little bit confused with partially localized interface in Chinese version.

Most welcome Botema, I'm so glad that it worked with as well.
Thank you, you saved me great time, although I already went through the same procedure again with the screenshots and I am so confident now with this approach as a success one.

Also on my fastboot screen it says: FASTBOOT MODE... then all the stuff in white.... Secure boot enabled and lock state unlocked. i can go into recovery mode, restart bootloader, and the start mode. I have no clue what to do... once again please anyone help me.
what were the steps you followed, try a wipe dalvik and if that does not work wipe data cache from recovery as well.
My phone should be arriving today but I don't think I'm going to root it straight away - I understand unlocking the boot loader wipes the phone, so if I do that can I then root later without it being wiped again? (Via the toolkit)

It will only wipe your phone after unlocking the bootloader, not after rooting.
Thanks for this! It will be a nice change to be able to use my Mac at home to mess with my phone instead of always having to do it on my Windows machine at work.

I think you can try restoring to factory mode and deleting cache via recovery mode.

Yeah I did solve it. I had to put in SuperSu first onto my phone and then when i got the option to reboot into recovery i flashed it. I also had to wipe cache and then it was fine.
I also just recently unrooted my phone and locked the boot loader. The toolkit for that was perfect.
thanks this was most useful!
Forgive me for being a bit of a n00b, I've just come back to Android after a couple of years away and it's all changed!
What order should I run the toolkits in?
As far as I can tell, it's Unlock Bootloader > Root > CWM
Is that right?

If you don't know what order to do the steps in, you don't need to be using a toolkit. The first time you root any phone, you need to do it manually. Toolkits are not a way to avoid learning, they're a convenience for the experienced.

dont restore any backups until this selinux stuff is fixed/figured out, luckily its a note 3 issue so all the note 3 people will be working on it .
this is a 4.3 thing but dont have my recovery fix root/remove scripts. you need them for root, when i get some time ill trash that stuff and compile a better version but for now just click no

nandroids, currently there is an issue where selinux flag isnt being set properly when restoring data and then causes bootloops. titanium backup should be good
just to be clear, i didnt root the note 3, you guys had an unlocked bootloader it means rooting was as simple as flashing recovery. i included rooting steps in my OP to help people out.

Just re-run the CF-Auto Root instructions to the T and you should be back in business. I had the same issues and just used CF auto Root and it resolved my issues and I have root with no seen issues so far. Just got the device literally 1hr ago and just finishing up on it. Also if you installed a recovery you will have to ODIN back to OUDHS to get that back. I am holding off until I see some Jellybomb

You will need:
- Engineering boot images
- Patched version of Odin3 (only AT&T models ?)
- Extract files, and run root.bat with adb on the path
This version of SuperSU is not officially supported. I recommend against updating the APK from the Play Store, or otherwise updating the binaries, unless someone knowledgable has tried before you and confirmed it worked.
If it breaks, you get to keep all the pieces.
First of all thanks to @Chainfire for helping achieve su
I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your device, same goes for everyone that helped.

Usually clearing the cache and letting it rebuild helps. However, like everything else, try it at your own risk. The boot method just came out so there is going to have to be a lot of trial and error before things smooth out. Generally, first adapters (such as yourself) are often the ones that have to try things before anyone knows if it works or not. Best case scenario is that it helps, worst case scenario is saying bye bye to your phone. Then again, anytime you do anything to your phone there is always risk. Good luck and let us know if you try anything that seems to help (or hurt).

okay, not really a noob, but not really an expert, I have been doing this kind of things since the LG ally. but I am baffled, ever since root I cannot for the life of me get this little cyclone icon or the vo)) lte icon to Go Away. I don't have an option for HD voice in any setting, nor do I have a setting for rcs service. I have been scowling through threads for about 3 hrs, so I have looked for an answer, pretty much my last resort here. any help would be great!!!

I followed the instructions and got Odin to flash but once my phone reboots it gets stuck at the at&t logo. I can turn it off via vol down+power but once it boots back up it stops at the logo again. Any idea on what to do to either get it back to normal or moving forward?

Interesting problem here. Restarted the phone for a reason unrelated to the root, and it's stuck at the AT&T logo. Won't boot no matter what. Wiping/Factory restore doesn't fix it either. It'll wipe and reset but never gets to the setup, just stays at the logo. Any ideas?

Honor 9, No OS, adb via fastboot not working.

***SOLVED***
Used DC Phoenix to flash stock rom using update.app provided from their website, as far as I know, this is the only way to restore the phone if nothing else works.

Hey guys, posting here as a last resort.
I have no OS and cannot use adb via fastboot, it does not recognize any device detected.
When running "adb devices" when in recovery it picks up the phone just fine.
Info:
STF-L09
Bootloader and FRP unlocked
TWRP 3.1.1-1
No Rom
Cannot use Huawei exRecovery (Package info fails)
adb fastboot does not get recognized.
Have all drivers needed on pc for adb to work.
HiSuite doesn't support recovery on this device.
Really desperate for help, so any info is appreciated!
Cheers.

How would I go about testing it, what problems could occur? Considering I dont have any rom on the device I dont see the issue.

I have the same issue and could use some assistance here too.
but i have bootloader unlocked and frp locked .
Happend to erase everything on internal (vendor, cust, data, system etc) and have the same issue as the thread creator

Yes, i have unlock code
so, just put everything in the downloadfolder from your G-drive onto my SD-card (in a zip or just the files) and choose restore from TWRP, correct?
After that is done i will unlock my bootloader again like i did the first time and then make a facory reset via? inside the phone or via TWRP or?
Rommco05 said:
1. Yes thats right. Folder on sdcard must have same name like on Drive
2. Yes unlock bootloader like first time. (hupefuly will be possible)
3. I'm not sure which recocery will be installed but I think in twrp

I cant seem to write on the system...
Unable to wipe system
Failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
Failed to wipe dalvik
Failed to mount cache, cust, data, system, vendor, product, version, (all invalid argument)
Restarted and did normal wipe and then it started to restore, went about halfway and the quickly said it was done.
Restarted and It went into download recovery (eRecovery)

Strange that adb doesnt list my phone. Is it because im in fastboot&rescue mode?
I can only access fastboot&rescue and eRecovery. Adb doesnt want to list my device. As soon as its listed i could unlock bootloader.
Any tips?
doesnt work to install drivers again, they should work fine i think. Phone gets connected to recovery in Hisuite if i am in fastboot mode.
Dont know how to get device to show, seems like a small thing that is in my way.
Please help, anything
Is it worth tying even though the user above has experienced problems?

I think you and me are in the same bubble buddy, fastboot works, but adb will not list any devices whatsoever unless in recovery.
I have tried everything from using the HiSuite drivers to google USB, reinstalled all adb packages and it still will not work.
If I got adb working this whole problem would be so much easier.
EDIT: Tried flashing the STF-l09C432 firmware via twrp, it fails to install zip package with error 9. I can not find any info on an error 9 anywhere.

Ok cool but this nokia phone can't be bootloaded into; it's always locked, even if you tick on allow oem unlocking in dev settings fastboot will tell you it doesn't have permission. Whats the purpose of this? Is there some kind of way to get past it that I am not aware of?

I have not seen this service anywhere, I did see that a page containing this service was deleted due to paid services, though. Regardless, I can imagine only a few handfuls of people being able to make use of this, which is a shame.. I hope in the future some method of unlocking it at home gets discovered, but that probably won't happen knowing nokia.

I also hope, not because $5 is much for it, but I rather do it myself w/o giving my IMEI or any other infos to someone. As it was on Nexus devices.

@Maherabed1986 Thank you for getting this device rooted. Why does Magisk has Preserve force encryption selected by default?
Is the Nokia 6.1 encrypted by default? I had many Android devices and none were encrypted by default. I didn't know this Nokia was encrypted until I saw it on Magisk.
