[Q] Problem with using android kitchen. Help needed. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had been trying to make a custom ROM or porting a ROM for Micromax Canvas A 96. It has only one custom ROM found in 'needrom' site. As the stock ROM is in a format suitable for SP Flashtool , I wanted to make a CWM flashable ROM in zip format, so that porting will be easier. For this purpose I need 'METAINF' Folder with updater script. So, after searching I came across a guide on 'Converting boot.img +system.img' to CWM flashable zip ROM. I followed it and used android kitchen and got a ROM in zip in the output folder which I re-named (during working on 'cygwin' window). Now I checked it by extracting with 'Express zip' windows software, and it says " The zip is corrupted or encrypted or empty or in an incompatible format'. Now, I do not know how to go about it. Please help me.

ROMs dont have an update.zip

Hey Guys,
I'm in need of some really n00b friendly advice.
When you flash a new ROM (i.e. CM9) in CWM the tutorials tell you to flash the file named Update.zip. My problem is that I can't seem to find one in the zip file I downloaded for my xperia mini.
I downloaded FXP131, and found the zip file to contain a boot.img, which will be the kernel. And 2 other folders named META-INF and System.
I know how to flash the kernel and expect it was just left in there for easy transportation.
But where in the world is 'update.zip'?
Am I meant to unpackage the kernel then re-zip the META-INF and System folder and then call that 'Update.zip'?
I've flashed roms for some of my other devices before, but they've always used flashtool or samsungs flashtool.
Please help me guys, I don't like sounding this inexperienced
update.zip
I'm wondering if the ROM I am trying to flash needs to be renamed as update.zip in order to work. It is krook's v.6 of JB for the Lenovo K1 tablet. Since the download site has to distinguish between wifi and 3G versions, as well as nvflash versions there are a number of different filenames, however does it need to be renamed after putting it on my SD card?
Generally speaking "update.zip" is used as a generic name. For example the update.zip I just flashed is actually named "rascarlo_maguro_ota_2012-11-01.zip". When you flash a custom ROM in a custom recovery you should be able to browse & flash whichever file you need.
The FXP131.zip file that contains the boot.img and 2 other folders named META-INF and System is the "update.zip"
solved
My problem was an incomplete download. I compared file sizes, and checked md5sums and determined the correct ROM and it is now in the middle of finishing the upgrade/optimization process.
Thx

[HELP] Modifying ROM doubts

Good evening,
I've written a module for my smartphone and I need to compose a rom to install on my device...
I followed some tutorials, so now I know how to build an android kernel, obtaining a zImage.
Now, a friend told me that I must make a backup with clockworkmod (done!) and download on my pc, than I can recover the boot.img from there and split them in ramdisk and kernel.
Now I can compile my new kernel and merge it (the obtained zImage?) with the ramdisk to have a new rom to flash on my device... is true?
But I don't know how I can split the boot.img (maybe with dsixda kitchen?) and how to create the new rom. I tryied som weeks ago with a .zip rom and the dsixda kitchen and I split and recomposed a rom, but files contained in the .zip files was different from files that I downloaded by my device...
Someone can explain me the correct way to do this process? Thank you!

Development custom ROM problem

Hi guys,
So I started trying to create the custom ROM for an old smartphone, the Wiko Cink Slim following a french tutorial (I'm french ) .
So I encounter a small problem , let me explain: In order to create a flashable zip for CWM recovery , I put in the zip file containing all the system files etc., then the boot.img ( from the stock ROM the wiko cink slim) and the META-INF folder containing the updater script and another file and everything ... provided by the tutorial I follow.
So after the change in the system folder , I decided to flash the custom ROM in the CWM .
When flashing , all goes well , no apparent error. So I restarts after the smartphone and the problem is that it remains blocked on the boot logo ... And it all the time, I even try to flash the zip healthy custom that I had previously copied and even problem ...
So, conclusion, the problem is not from the file system because it does not walk with the healthy zip ( so the system folder had absolutely no changes ) and I guess it does not come from boot.img because it comes directly from the stock rom the same smartphone. I think the problem of blockage at boot comes from the META-INF folder.
What do you think ? I think that the problem is folder META-INF. So, I attach the address of the download of the META-INF folder, and as I do not know code in the updater-script, check any errors.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0kPUePrYTtEZHVmWVFPSVQ2Nzg&usp=sharing
And I just think, the meta-inf folder is planned for version 4.2.2 android while I have version 4.1.1 on my Wiko cink slim. The problem is not there?
Thank you in advance,
Bests regards

How to extract 100% of ROM from SPD (Spreadtrum) and make it flashable

Hi!
Ive been tinkering around and just cant find a way on how to do it...
I tried using TWRP backup but when renaming the .win file to .tar I could not see the system folder..
I got the stock rom but its in .pac and no idea on what to do with it to make it flashable via TWRP or edit it to make a custom rom..
Basically I want to create a custom rom for myphone which is a Myphone My28s
Hope someone can point me in the right direction

from Online Nandroid (CWM) to flash-able zip for Odin, need Meta-inf folder

After a failed online nandroid backup recovery I just shake my head.... not again. Don't want to flash stock rom, root, custom recovery flash path again!
So, I really like to create a flashable rom from my old backup. I just lack the meta-inf.
All these make flashable threads say get the meta-inf folder from any rom. I don't think that it is THAT easy.
(I tried a Meta-inf from a custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-noble-rom-t3403867/page19#post69117710
, but during zipping I get an error that it could not create something....)
Where can I get a working meta-inf file for Samsung S5 G901F, that I do not need to alter or just works?
Thanks you very much.
