Broken Strap - Ornate TrueSmart

Hi. I have a Truesmart for almost a year now, I love it and I'm completely dependant of it.
Unfortunately, yesterday, I played with a friend, and he just grabbed my arm and broke my Truesmart's strap in two. Fortunately, it wasn't the part where the antennas are, but a few cm below.
I can't fix it up by setting some glue. Do you have any idea on where can I buy a strap replacement or how can I fix it ? It'd be so sad that I got to replace an entire watch for just a strap :/
Thanks you for your kind help

[Q] After an LCD replacement

A while back ago I received a G1 (Which was my favorite Android @ the time) with a broken digitizer. I was going to replace the digitizer shortly after having it unlocked. But I ran across a friend who bought an Aria off of Craigslist, who needed a T-mobile (Or unlocked) phone. So I traded my buddy my G1 for an Aria with a broken LCD. I ordered the LCD (Screwdrivers & such) off of ebay, and replaced the LCD shortly after. I didn't really have any problems doing so. But I've started to notice that it seems as if the screen / digitizer doesn't really fit down all the way. If you catch my drift. Like, Sometimes I can push the corner of the screen (Where the LED is) and it sets back down, but arises again. Would this be something that I did wrong, or maybe I need a new adhesive strip (so to say) to put back around the digitizer? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
_Edit_ The performance of the digitizer nor the LCD are affected. Its more so my personal preference to have it back in the right spot I guess you could say, for resale to upgrade. (Which is pretty consistent)
Same Issue
HI! I have the same issue with my Aria!
I noticed when I was replacing mine that the adhesive part you mentioned seemed "not so sticky anymore." When I take the back off and look at the corner that stick up slightly, there is no sticky at all there. I assume that's the problem. I just leave mine as is. But if there was a simple fix, I would love to know!
Hope
Actually, almost all arias do that (to some extent) after a couple of weeks. I noticed it shortly after I purchased mine. It's probably a design flaw, or just a bad design in my opinion.
The sticky tape must just break down overtime.
Just a theory...

Well. Bummer. It would make sense that it is a possible design flaw. Everything has something wrong with it. Oh well. Guess I'll just roll with it until I trade this off for something else. Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.
I have carried my aria in my pocket, no case, for almost a year. No sign of separation from the base at any corner. I don't think separation is a normal condition from regular use. Maybe need new "stick down" stuff.

+1. Ive also never had any issues with the build quality of my Aria. Ive seen enough issues posted in the forums to know that there had to be certain batches of Arias that were just poorly made. This little thing has been through quite a bit (working on construction sites) and it still looks like the day I bought it with the exception of a scratch in the corner of the back cover (I do use a screen protector). Nothings loose, nothings worn out, nothings ever broke.

[DISCUSSION] Cracks by the Speakers?

I have noticed a crack by each speaker (the one near the top is much deeper) on the thin plastic of my TouchPad. I know it's a common problem and was just wondering if anyone else is pissed about this? I feel like it's a waste of my time to even baby this device anymore now that it's not pristine.
EDIT: Added image for proof and links to other sites about the same issue.

I have the same problem. Noticed mine was cracked 2 days ago. REALLY pissed me off because I take extra care with this ever since i got it. Put a drop of superglue in there and pressed it back down. Isnt perfect, but shouldn't crack again.
same here unfortunately.
did the superglue trick as i don't want a refurb.
i plan to beat the hell out of this thing anyway lol.
I'm fixing to get some epoxy and fill in the scratches today. I asked my friend who got his the same day I did and he said he has no scratches. Oh, and I also have the infamous crack by my headphone jack. I've never even plugged anything into the jack.
I have a crack closest to my headphone jack. I didn't notice it until I seen your post here.
I notice that the glass is raised just slightly as well. I'm kinda mad but then I remember what I spent on it.
Posting from it now as a matter of fact.
I got a crack also. the bottom left speaker. not to happy. i wonder how much a back cover costs and where we and buy one?
Pics please?
How long have you guys had your TPs? Mine is only 2 weeks old and so far, there are no cracks around the speakers or the earphone jack.
This is the same problem the Nook had when it was first released, cracks around the page turn buttons. My later production nook (version 1 e-ink) never showed any cracks.
I assume most of us wil have to expect this to happen on our TPs, unless it was a mold issue with a few earlier units.
I know exactly when it happened too. it was in my bookbag in a special pocket on the back made for small laptops or tablets. very padded. my bookbag fell off my couch, maybe two feet, flat on it's back. I take out my TP and it's cracked. not cool.
I've had mine for a little over a week. It went into an official HP case right out of the box. I've been very careful with it. Never dropped it or anything like that. Yesterday I noticed there was a crack by the left speaker. It sucks to have such a thing happen when you're really careful. Used some super glue in it. Will beat the hell out of it now.
I posted about this on SD and made a poll for it almost two weeks ago.

I was proposing the possibility that all of these are defective and this is the reason why HP liquidated them.

You can't be serious.
Why would HP take a $200 loss for an issue that people may or may not notice.
Guess what.
Mine is cracked too. I didn't notice it until I saw this thread and went looking. Never would have seen it otherwise.
Mine is crack free, literally and figuratively

This is the exact location mine is in. I've kept mine inside the factory box since day one. I have a joby ori on the way, but I guess I need to glue it up now.

Anyone found a way to prevent it? Not got the crack just yet, I guess they didn't reinforce the plastic casing around the parts mentioned from the inside.... Pretty poor.
My tablet has taken a couple drops and I dont have any scratchs, dings, or cracks! I wonder what is causing the problem for some people. I have been rather impressed with the build quality of my TouchPad, Id say it almost comprable to my iPad.
I have a hairline crack I never noticed until I checked. It looked like a spec of dust but was indeed a crack on the speaker headed away from the screen.
Here is a pic of the one by my top/left speaker. It has actually spread since I first began this thread. It's bigger than it used to be and I still have never dropped it or mistreated it in anyway.

My glass is raised on the speaker side as well. I can see it move when I press on the bezel. Hopefully the screen doesn't pop out on me.
Well, this is definitely a huge issue. A hairline crack just formed on my 64GB white touchpad within the last day right by one of the speakers. I never bumped, dropped, etc my touchpad. I am guessing this is going to occur to 100% of the touchpads out there eventually. I had mine for over a week before this crack appeared. Give yours time and keep an eye on it. You should have them soon enough.

S4 Zoom Strap

Bought this phone last week. Quite big compared to normal smartphones but loved the zoom so much due to the camera. So far it had never disappointed me. The only problem i found is that it is quite difficult to pull the phone out of my pocket. Solved the problem with this strap that only reach me today (http://www.lelong.com.my/korean-col...strap-piccologift-I1359791-2007-01-Sale-I.htm). Actually, i went around a few shopping mall just to realize that phone straps is just out of date and many phone accessories shop is not selling them anymore. So far today my pulling out of the phone out of my jeans is settled by using the strap i purchase. So i heavily recommend people using this phone any kind of phone strap coz it makes it so much easier to pull it out of your pocket. However it also does make it easier for people to steal your phone. So it has it pros and cons. Anybody with similar experience do share. Thx in advance.
Hi
I have a Zoom. I tried using the strap from my Samsung camera. It fitted fine, no problem, but I ended up taking it off and don't wear jeans with tight pockets

[Q] Umeo/ Truesmart Spares

I backed the Truesmart the day after it went live on Kickstarter and now after almost 3/4 of a year later I recieved the two devices i backed.
One was fine but the other had an assambly damage. The antenna cables for GPS and WIFI were broken.
To find the source of the connection problems I had to take of the back of the device and now I was told that I have voided the warranty because of that and will not get an exchange!
So I asked if I could buy the wrist band seperately as a spare part and was given a MAYBE in a few months when there is a service center near where I live.
I doubt that.
Repairing a broken micro coax cable is nearly impossible ( at least for me) so...
Now to my question:
Could anyone of you advise me where I could buy/get such a spare wrist band with the GPS and Wifi antenna inside?
Have already asked the seller of the Z8 device on aliexpress but he said thei are out of stock....
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Holy crap that was most definitely broken at the factory.
posted using my towelrooted Galaxy S5.
Yikes.... not good. Do you have any more pictures of this zoomed out a little? It would be interesting to see how the cables fit into the strap. Are you able to slide them in and out of the strap? I wonder how far they go into the strap? I wonder what shape they are as well (straight? curved? coil?), and what's hidden in the strap (components or antenna plates?)... if it's a simple length of straight wire, and it likely could be, then it would theoretically be possible to yank out and replace with something else.
Also what were the GPS/wifi issues exactly? Were both completely dead or was it an intermittent connection? Did it work better off your wrist rather than on?
I reckon this information will be helpful to other users in case they are suspicious of problems in their own units. For instance, my wifi seems a bit weak and I need to be relatively close to the router for it to work reliably (within 25 feet, I'd say), but I'm not sure if that's because the antenna is pressed against my arm and it's wirelessly noisy around here (it is) or because there is a possible fault.
On mine the antenna leads were glued in after insertion through the case and I am pretty sure the connectors were added, crimped on the ends, after insertion too.
Would be hard to remove and replace without destroying the ends.
I've already swapped bands three times so far. The ends are crimped before attaching the bands then soft sealant is injected into the case holes.
I was contacted about parting out the immersion test unit and found out that it would not have worked properly even if it had survived. Just like the OP the leads were damaged.
They drilled big enough holes in the case to push through the antenna leads with the connectors already on them, then sealed the holes around the wires with that white too ?
OK. I was wrong. Sounds like it would be easier to refit a replacement band than I had imagined. If you could get the band halves...
it's easy
It is quiet easy to change the band. The big holes and the sealant injected there after assembly is also the main cause for water getting into the device.
So that's the thing I would love to get my hands on a wrist band to be able to use the truesmart as intended.
Right now it is just sitting around because the companion app on the ostore really sucks and I still don't get the use of a smartwatch as companion to a phone.
Maybe this changes when I get to use a device with Google wear on it.
This would be good for the truesmart as well but needs an upgrade to at least 4.4 I think.
Until then its waiting again for me and asking around for spare parts at resellers or find someone with a broken truesmart who wants to make at least some money.

Can someone confirm this is a LCD/digitizer issue?

Hey there, here is an image of my gf's phone (my old one!) which i recently dropped quite hard onto concrete from about 4ft high. As you can see it's slowly dying, the pink-ish band has been coming down gradually over the past 24 hours.
My plan is to find a replacement LCD/digitiser screen and fit it to the phone. Will I need a new glass cover also? Has anyone else ever seen this and successfully repaired it?
Thanks!

If I'm correct is a screen problem
Definitely the digitizer.....
that is broken. Bought a replacement on ebay, about 100 dollars. Came as one unit, front w/glass, digitizer and connector tool and screwdriver. Fairly easy to replace. Look at youtube videos. That helps.
Be sure you get the right one. My softkeys are erratic at times. Might be the versoin that is wrong.
Any confirmation om that will be appriciated w or wo any hints to correct that.
thanks guys, gonna look for a kit now. Does anyone know if I can buy a second phone with for example, bad motherboard, and lift the whole screen and stuff from that one?
my pack arrived today, but there's a big plastic thing same shape as the screen, but like a big sticker with different cut outs. Is this the digitizer? Do I have to break open the fresh front panel? All the guides I've seen suggest otherwise, but I can't figure out for the life of me where it goes :/
just in case anyone was wondering... i never used the sticker thing. I followed iFixit directions and the phone is good as new. a snazzy white/blue hybrid!
