[GUIDE][XPOSED][ALL VARIANTS] Installing Xposed without recovery - G4 Themes and Apps

UPDATE: You can install the official Xposed framework (v74) by @rovo89. I have updated the instructions accordingly. It is recommended you upgrade to this version, as it has some bug fixes and is an official version.
You do not need a custom recovery or unlocked bootloader. All you need is root. Here is how I did it:
NOTE: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE. FOLLOW THIS GUIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
1. Download Xposed framework (xposed-v74-sdk22-arm64.zip) from here
2. Download official Xposed installer (XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk) (APK ONLY!) from here
3. Install FlashFire (you will have to sign up for the beta program) here
4. Make sure your phone is fully charged. Make sure it's unplugged from computer or any power source.
5. Flash Xposed framework using FlashFire. (Just use the flash .zip option. Do not check Automount) (This will take A VERY LONG TIME-Your phone will not boot for at least 10-30 minutes.)
6. Install official Xposed installer
7. You have Xposed! Enjoy!
*Please note: Some users have reported the flash appearing successful, but after booting, the Xposed framework is not installed. Some of these users report second and third attempts failing. You may have to try it over and over before it actually installs the framework. Currently it is unknown why this is an issue. This is a rare issue, but there have been a few reports of it.

You're welcome! You have to join the beta community to get FlashFire from PlayStore. That's why you need to join that G+ community.

When you click the "flash" button to start the process, is the screen supposed to go black and stay black through the entire process?

4.3 TW Vzw Patch SS or MDK For XXUE [MKF] [ML1] [ML6] [ML9] [NA4] Int Roms 02-19-14

This Patch Is For 4.3 TW International Based Roms. It Will Not Work With 4.4 TW KitKat Roms!!
Works on:
[XXUEMK8] [XXUEMKF] [XXUEML1] [XXUEML6] [XXUEML9] [XXUENA4] International Based Roms
This is a Patch for TW 4.3 XXUE International Base Roms to work on 4.3 Verizon S4 with MDK firmware and custom recovery. There is a Minimum Patch which does not change the build.prop or contacts or dialer but some features of verizon will not work such as the ability to change from global mode to cdma/lte only mode and the signal icons will be international version not the verzion ones. Use this patch if the rom you are using is heavily themed. The Full Patch changers build.prop and flashes stock versions of the international dark dialer and contacts that will maintain more verizon functions along with using vzw signal icons and the ability to change from global mode and cdma/lte only mode. Use this patch to make the rom the most compatible with verizon. Both patches contain a modified version of the International dark themed SecMms.apk which works to receive both sms and mms and group messages. This app is required and cannot be changed so if the rom has a themed messaging app it will be replaced with mine. Sorry but thats the way it is.
THESE ARE NOT MY ROMS OR KERNALS I DONT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS IF SOMETHING DOES NOT WORK I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE!
Instructions:
1: Download An International Rom [XXUEMK8] [XXUEMKF] [XXUEML1] [XXUEML6] [XXUEML9] [XXUENA4]

3: Install [XXUEMK8] [XXUEMKF] [XXUEML1] [XXUEML6] [XXUEML9] [XXUENA4] International Rom in recovery(Do Not reboot yet!)
4: Install VZW Patch Full Or Minimum
5: Reboot
6: Go through Setup

Seems great, except no WiFi. Anyone else having issues getting it to turn back on?
Other issues I've seen is sometimes it'll take 2-3 minutes to boot up. There could be an explanation for this that I'm not aware of. It's also froze on me while charging. Screen was still off but nothing I could do would unlock it but the red LED indicator light was responding to the charge plug still.

Where did you find the Samsung Apps?
Phone froze again with the screen off. This time I was pressing the power button on and off, testing the lag of the lockscreen. One more time and I'm going back to Eclipse! Also, AdBlock doesn't work on Android 4.3 so I'm trying Adblock Plus in the meantime. https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install
*edit* Aaaand it froze again for the 3rd time. Back to Eclipse. I can't take this instability.

last I tried multi-window (on another device), i believe each "side" of the split-screen is "standalone"
(i.e. you have google maps on the left side of the screen, gmail on right. If you try to click on a hyperlink on google maps, chrome (or whatever your default browser is) will open up on the left replacing google maps)
wonder if it's possible to open chrome up on the right, so you get "better" multi-window/multi-tasking because your original app and "newly launched" apps are running side by side

as long as you already have a custom recovery installed (which requires initial root), and have a nandroid backup on the device itself AND on your computer, you should be fine
ask the other people who've already flashed it
I'm using almost the same device tree from CM11 (only need to convert the CM file structure-> omni file structure, no other changes), so there shouldn't be any unexpected surprises when you flash the ROM

I stupidly did not flash St along with the multi window version and gapps. Now I can't get SU to work from the playstore. It says it needs to update binary but fails when it tries. I assume I need to flash the SU zip from my twrp recovery?

One thing I'm wondering. Is really flashing supersu through twrp sufficient to gain root? I've only hooked up my devices to run batch scripts in order to gain root so the idea of gaining root merely through flashing a zip is new to me.

TWRP should also warn you when you reboot TWRP after flashing a ROM without SuperSU...
Flashing the root update.zip will gain root.... TWRP/adb/fastboot is a lot easier than running batch scripts that use exploits (unless you are stock without TWRP, and you need exploit like Towelroot to intially root)

[ZIP] Adreno GPU Driver Update: 7aug

After looking into my Nexus 4 and LG G Pad 8.3 (v500) i found out they use same binaries.
Credits to @xboxfanj
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/qualcomm-adreno-gpu-binaries-t2667759
There have been new Qualcomm GPU binaries released on their developer site here: https://developer.qualcomm.com/mobi...eno/mobile-gaming-graphics-optimization-tools
Download:https://www.dropbox.com/s/2misws4vp0bjjnc/UPDATE-adreno-drivers-n4&n7-may-30.zip Thanks to Medel-Silver and barome for adding F2FS support to the updater-script.
Note: This is identical to Qualcomm's zip; I just extracted it so you can download and flash. Props to Qualcomm for taking my suggestion to unify the mako and flo binaries so they work on all Nexii.
Revert to KOT49H (newest 4.4.2 stock) http://d-h.st/KHN
Shout out to DeesTroy and TeamWin; Qualcomm uses TWRP in the documentation
I noticed a slight smoothness and benchmark improvement, but your mileage may vary. Let me know how this goes for you.
These updated binaries should work on any ROM. No wipe necessary.

You can a geht performance increase in 3d applications as these drivers are far more optimized but it could also get you a bootloop depending in Rom and device
Its working flawless for me
I get excelent results on Antutu, but more important, the device feels smoother now

well if your device uses adreno 3xx as gpu this zip should work
just check where the binaries are located and try replacing them by hand if they are located somewhere else than in the zip
but only do this if you are brave enough
this zip should also work on the vk810 since its using adreno 320 gpu

Thanks!! Just put these on my G2 (locations are definitely different) so I'll see how they work. I'll probably back up my G-Pad and update it tonight..
Please, this update works to me ?
My info system says: Adreno 320. Can i flash this update ?
ROM Stock 50020b, root, twrp 2.7.1.
Thanks for attention.
The June update definitely feels more fluid than May's. Thank you for the heads up!

Tried installing these manually on my Verizon gpad and the first one I transferred over made the tablet freeze up. I had to manually reboot but it wouldn't boot past the LG logo. I tried just installing the zip in twrp but it still wouldn't boot. I had to restore from a backup.

use a root explorer and look up the location of the binaries and see if they fit the schema of the zip
make a backup and flash the zip
if you get a bootloop restore the backup

make a backup
look up the location of the binaries on your gpad and compare them with the zip
download the zip again and try flashing it if they fit
it should work cause they dont have anything missing or different. they are just more optimized

^^^Ditto, mine froze after flash and stuck at LG screen. I had to restore from backup. Rom is a 4.2.2 and TWRP was 2.6.3 wonder if that has anything to do with it. Anyway I had to restore from backup as well.
EDIT: Oh I almost forgot I was on the stock LG gpad not Verizon and not GPE either.

The driver are made for Android 4.4.2. High Chance that they work with 4.4.3 and 4.4.4
But its not likely that they work with 4.2.2

Android 5.0 Google Now Launcher for 4.4 devices

For those of you who use the GNL, you can get the newest lollipop version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/gnl-5-0-t2909143
I've confirmed that it works on our phone, the Verizon G3.

Yeah, did that. Don't see any instructions, that's why I asked. Care to be more helpful...?

Does this need to be "bumped"

To my knowledge, only kernels and ROMs need to be bumped other than that you should be good.
I flashed it via TWRP, no problems at all. I will say I'm using the Jasmine ROM, so not stock. Not sure how much of a difference that would make, but I can confirm it works pretty well with no FCs.

Not having any luck, after flashing I just get a black screen when trying to use the Google launcher
I extracted the zip and manually moved the apks over and now it's working just fine
Really smooth launcher

I am having the same issue, I had to use multi window to open play store and install Nova, where did you move the APK files to?
So... Strange problem here. First off, the launcher is great. My problem however is disturbing, so every time I reboot I have to reinstall the velvet apk. Does anybody have any advice on how to solve this? Thanks

[Beta][Marshmallow/6.0][XT1575/1572] Systemless Root

Systemless Root
Read this first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63197935&postcount=2
To summarize:
This is an experimental root process
[*]It needs an unlocked bootloader
[*]It needs the system to have no trace of any other superuser solutions
[*]This will patch the kernel RAMDisk to include the su binary
[*]Following that, all calls to execute commands as root will be handled from here
[*]This means no system partition modification
[*]This also means Android Pay works
[*]Since this is experimental, expect apps with hardcoded su calls to not work (blame the app developer)
[*]Also, there are bugs as Chainfire stated but it's been stable up until now
[*]I have not tried this on the XT1572 but it should work
Click to collapse
IMPORTANT!
You need to revert to completely stock/clean marshmallow without any SuperSU installed.
Installation Instructions:
Install the kernel patch - systemless_root.zip
Install SuperSU (systemless) - SuperSU v2.56
DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER SUPERSU MODULES
IGNORE ANY TWRP MESSAGES ABOUT SUPERSU or SU in general

Aaaand....ignore this post.
XDA discourages place holder threads. Without a download link, this will probably be shut down pretty soon.

Yeah...really should tidy up your instructions. Tons of stuff to wade through in that link thread. No "clark" for our phone. Also, a layman's, two-sentence overview of what this is and does may be helpful to many. Thanks!

And I definitely jumped to a conclusion I shouldn't have.

Will there be a download in this thread (curious because I don't see a .zip for our phone in the linked thread) or just a link to @Chainfire's thread?

I'd say especially when you list yourself as the only contributor and just link to someone else's work. Who knows, maybe he created the .zip we need for the 1575/1572 and he's uploading it now? I suppose I shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Wow. Aren't you guys all respectful? This is a DevDB thread. The link was up in the Downloads section. For some reason my post edits/links didn't go through. Maybe check once before you fire all guns?

Apologies...as you know, many people try to get credit for work they didn't do (I'm obviously not a fan of that and let it get the best of me). It just looked odd since there was only a link to the original thread until just now. Again, apologies for jumping to conclusions and thanks for the work.
I couldn't find any info anywhere how does systemless root benefit vs regular root by using the modified boot image? thanks!

Sorry about that. I saw [WIP] as the thread title and no download links in the OP and assumed this was another "I'm first to start working on it but have nothing to share" thread that pop up all over XDA and immediately get closed.

From what I understand it allows you to root your phone without making any modifications to /system. So when a OTA is released you flash the stock kernel and accept the OTA. This assumes you've made no changes to /system once you gained root.

It's working great, I had to reinstall superSU from the play store as it was not showing up in the app drawer. Everything is working.
@alnikki25k BTW. Congratulation on the brilliant idea and implementation of a script that make the systemless root changes to the kernel, could this be used with another device?
Can I use this with the stock odexed (unrooted) from here:

worked so far.. flashed the stock odexed no root. rebooted and did quick gmail setup. Went back to TWRP and flashed the files for the kernel and SuperSU. When prompted by TWRP to install SuperSU after flashing the files I said do not install per instructions. Booted up and restoring with titanium as I type.
Next question would be if anyone was able to get xposed working with systemless root? Probably not going to take that plunge since I got root mainly for titanium and ad blocker.
Edit. All apps back. Running good. Not trying xposed yet. Android pay loaded no problem. Added cards no problem. Doing good so far
Tested on XT1572 , everything works flawlessly except es file explorer unable to request for su permission for some reason.
Thanks again for this

Yep, ES Explorer does not work with systemless root, change to Solid Explorer that works well.
Thanks for this, now I have android Pay working properly.
BTW: good ole root explorer still works.
