Is it possible to edit our max charge rate or enable qualcomm quick charge 2.0 where the hell are these settings on our phone.
It really just depends on your charger block. I noticed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8 inch tablet has a charging block with higher amperage than the Sony ones. Puts out more charge, but I notice the device does get hotter than the usual charger. It could just be me since I don't usually sit there to compare heat differences in a charger.
With Ampere though, festively notice more charge going in.
I've noticed the same thing. When I use a Note 4 or Note5 charger, the device becomes increasingly hotter but definitely charges faster. Ironically, if the phone completely dies and shuts off, it will not accept a charge from any of the Samsung charges that I have in the house due to an error message saying that the charger is not supported.
I got a pop up window when using a note 4 charger to stop using it and use the official cord. Wouldn't charge all the way.

The stock charger from Samsung was for 0.7Amps and it charges ok, but I find it slow.. about ~4 hours to fully change my SGS2 from with less than 10% left of battery life.
If I plug into the laptop, it takes like ~6 hours due to the slow trickle charge with 0.5Amps.
I don't know what the max pull is allowed on this phone, but I did find that when I charge with a 1Amps charger, I can get it from less than 10% to full in about ~3hours.
So, I tried a few such charges and have noticed some strangeness.. (all with the same test conditions, start charging with less than 10% and with the stock usb cable for the phone)
1) older Belink ac-usb 1Amps out put, it does seem to charge the phone good and faster finishing around ~3 hours ... but, when charging, the touch sensitivity of the screen is out of whack, any subtle movement, will cause the screen to jump around.. like in gallery, trying to select an individual pic is difficult as the screen jumps around; forget about using the browser and selecting links...not sure why..
2) HTC thunderbolt charger 1Amps output (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WM6SOU).. same issue here, charges faster, but makes the screen jump around
3) iPhone charger 1Amps output; this seems to work the best for me so far.. charges faster ~3hours and while charging the screen behaves normally, I am able to use gallery and browser fine...
4) iPad 2 charger 5.1 V and 2.1Amps: Still charges the phone ~3 hours, but same side effect...
Anyone else have the screen sensitivity issue and what chargers are you using?
I haven't seen any issue when I used a HP TouchPad Charger rated at 2.0A I think..
Max pull is 650 mA - this is set by the charger chip itself.
If the phone thinks you have a normal USB connection to PC instead of a dumb charger, it will be 400 mA.
Having a charger rated more than this won't hurt, but it won't help.
Monoprice "1A" car chargers are rated 300-400 mA at best - the ONLY monoprice product I've ever been unhappy with in my life.
In general, you want to make sure USB D+ and D- are shorted together by the charger - this guarantees that the phone sees the charger as "dumb" and goes to 650. Exception are media and car docks - whatever you connect to these will be assumed by the phone to be a high current "dumb charger".
All phone power usage (CPU, screen, etc.) counts against this current budget - e.g. if you have 200 mA of load, only 450 will be going into the battery.
Unlike the I9100, we don't appear to have any way to change these charging currents. Our phone, for whatever reason, has an additional chip for charge control (MAX8922) instead of using the charge control built into the main power management chip (MAX8997). I have recently been profiling a few USB chargers to figure out which one is the best for rapidly charging my phone. A few threads have pointed to the EP851 charger being something a bit special. I was thinking about it on the drive into work..
The specs say that it charges for 60 minutes talk time in 10 minutes.
The XS has 8.5 hours talktime,
This means the charger can fully charge the phone in 8.5 * 10, 85 minutes
Plugging these values into my Charge Timer app gives an estimated power output of 1235ma, almost identical to the 1211ma of mu cheapo 1500ma charger.
Given this closeness, and the fact that the EP850 is also rated at 1500ma I am conclude that they are the same thing.
So, if you want a fast charger for your XS, and are waiting for the EP851, stop waiting and get a genuine BlackBerry Playbook 2A charger. It is about 10% faster (est 1314ma) and available now.

Is it possible that the S has the "boost" pin with its USB connector and the 51 triggers it?
This is my understanding of it. PIN 1 and 4 provide power, 2 and 3 provide data (and 5 provides USB OTG?)
If pin 2 and 3 are not bridged, the phone will charge at the maximum rate as determined safe by the usb 2.0 spec

Both scenarios are, of course, restricted by the power that the connection can supply. For example, if you plugged the phone into a 1000A charger, I would expect it to only pull about 6? amps
As for "is the Playbook charger is safe?", the Playbook has the same type of battery as the SXS, just a lot bigger. For the Playbook, this charger is considered the slow charger, and a rapid charger that pushes more amps at 12V is available.
Obviously, its your phone so use it how you want. I prefer mine in my pocket instead of tethered to a wall so I am going to use the fastest charger I can.
Donno if its the regular case of 'bad usb port'. It's happening only when I'm charging with specific car charger (1A, output 5V) sometimes its charging fine, sometimes I notice its stop charge and the icon of battery is blinking/flashing...
I've tried to clean the usb cable and port from dust, maybe the cable got some dust into it?
Also I've notice that the temperature of device goes down to 22°C when its happening...
At any other chargers (include othe car chargers and other wall chargers) there is no problem at all...
What could be the reason of this specific car charger (it used to work without any problem the last few months ago)?
High/Low voltage? Dust?
maybe other problem with my device? (Battery/something else)

Chargers DO fail, and from my experience, dc to dc step down transformers and circuitry (the type in your car charger) have a higher failure rate than their ac to dc (mains) equivalents. ....

BTW - the reason of 'bad touch' while charging with some generic chargers is because higher amperage then should be to this device's battery? or other reason?
As long as the amperage is not ludicrously high or low, the only noticeable difference would be the charge time.....other than that there should be no noticable effect....

Battery Icon Flashing with Samsung Galaxy S4 Car Charger
I had the same problem charging my Galaxy S4 in the car. AC charging works fine but when plugged into the DC car charger the battery indicator icon flashed rather than showing the lightning bolt.
I purchased a higher voltage DC charger adapter, same symptom.
Finally I swapped out the USB-to-micro cable and now it works fine. I suspect that in the car the phone gets jarred over time and it wears down the micro-USB connector.
It's not just you fella........
The micro USB socket idea is (imo) a pathetically fragile arrangement for what the manufacturers intend it to do. I've repaired two phones with worn out sockets, and judging by what I am reading on XDA, it is an issue that is getting more and more common.........

So I'm experiencing the same blinking problem with my note 4. Each time the lightning icon blinks the phone vibrates in sync with it. And ithe galena with all charges. I have to keep unplugging and replugging ...and OCCASIONALLY it charges. I don't know what's the problem

I have same problem with my nexus 4.
After some googling I came across an app called Ampere.
This app tells you how much rate of current your battery is charging at.
So what i found is that when phone gets old the battery doesnt hold up charge as before. So the charge rate becomes slow. The nexus charger is rated at 1Amp and at the time of charging is able to provide low current than the rate at which the battery is draining. So the Android gets confused between charging and discharging.
For eg: if phone is charging at 300mA and draining at 350mA.
Also the battery draining rate is constantly changing. So when its greater than charging rate phone shows discharging and if less : charging...
Fix: There are three fixes which i can think ...
1) Get a higher Amp rated charger...
2) while charging close most of apps , dont play games , switch to a lower gen network like 2g , close wifi , close data which will reduce the discharge rate of the battery.
3) Get a new battery.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't know fast charge was Kernel specific. Thought it had to do with the cable and plug in?

With the fast charge app that looks like a battery it is kernel spefic. When u run the application it will either work or say kernel is not supported
The output of a typical computer USB port is a half an amp at five volts DC. If you get a charger, wall or cigarette plug, that is meant for an iPad, it will output 2.1 amps at five volts. It's best, for the battery life and phone, if you don't use a modded kernel for fast charging. Batteries last longer, overall life before replacing them, if they are slow charged. Heat from rapid charging will reduce the overall lifespan of a battery. I'm talking tech like in one hour or less chargers for AA batteries but it still holds true for lithium ion. Heat and hitting a battery hard with an aggressive charging circuit will kill a battery faster. My suggestion is to use a charger that has a max output of 2.1amps, like used with the stock and iPad chargers, to recharge the battery if you're impatient. Better yet, get an official Samsung external charger with battery so you can rotate batteries and have one charging or charged without forcing yourself to have the phone tethered to a charger often. There have been high profile instances where extended capacity batteries have burned up a phone, when charging, because the electronics of the battery were crap or the cells were of crappy quality. Be safe, be smart. Samsung OEM batteries might be expensive and low run time, but they won't usually cause a phone to go into meltdown mode because of their subpar electronics or cells.

Then today morning again I put to charge with same official charger
and it doesn't charge !!
it shows charging but percentage don't increase
it sometimes even decreases!
I checked ampere app and now showing just 90-180mA current
I used a 1.5A Samsung charger and it charges with 750mA current

Did you check if your phone still is communicating via USB? Because I have nearly the same issue.
I one wondered why my phone always was bringing this sound fpr plugging/unplugging the charger.
I assumed this was issued by a small charger which could not devliver enough current (usually up to 1800mA). So I used another one over the night.
Next day I expected it to be fully charged but it didn't charge at all. The app Ampere showed me just 100mA.
Then I've recognized that the USB-communication did not work anymore. So I guess that until there's no charger or PC-USB recognized, there's a limit to 100mAh.
I tested several chargers, cables and no chance to achieve more current. USB plug seems to be broken or something.
It doesn't matter if phone is powered on or off.
Then I've checked the Test-Menu. You need to shut down and then press VolUp, VolDown and Power all together.
Even from there I did not get any more current. And then I've chosen from Test-Menu the Reboot-Menu, choose Shutdown.
Now I got a 1000ma current!!!! Seems that somewhere the software restriction to 100mA is not active at this point.
Well, trying to fix this by getting the spare parts. First delivery did not fit. Second Delivery did fit, but phone did not boot.
USB-Plugin seems to be okay. the phone was a few days old.
I really don't know why anyone uses a 2A charger with this phone... Ideal conditions for charging a 4000mAh battery, or any other for that matter, would be 500mA to 1A current. I am using my trusty old LG 850mAh charger with this phone, and it charges properly, without heating up the battery. On the original charger, it went up to 38+ degrees Celsius. Now, it stays close to 30.
