Nubia Z7 (nx506J) working with Google Apps. - ZTE Z7, Z7 Max, Z7 Mini

I have a nubia z7 with rom version 2.05 (Android 5 and Nubia UI 3), with google apps working without problems. Even youtube.
It took 3 days to figure out how to do it, without rooting the phone.
But some tools are needed...
I upgraded my phone rom (which came with version 2.26, a modified 1.26), put rom 2.02 then 2.03 and at last 2.05, which is the last one in nubia chinese site.
I used nubia rom updater, for the roms version 2.02 and 2.03 you have to decompress to each folder and point nubia updater to that folder.
The last one (version 2.05), i used option update of the phone.
Then uninstalled every chinese app. Downloaded gapps micro for android 5.0.1 and copy to the internal storage.
Then rebooted the phone with TWRP and installed the zip file. With TWRP root the phone, in advanced menu.
After that, i reboot into android system and made login into google play and updated everything.
It's a google phone now.
I think this should work for Nubia Z7 mini and Nubia Z7 Max
I hope this help someone

hi, i'm Senh0r. I had logged with an old account.
now you can uninstall all chinese apps ,that you don't want.
then copy file gapps to internal storage.
Check if you have port ADB selected, by inserting on dial number *#7678# , if not, select it.
Now run the TWRP, which is in chinese, when the menu show up, choose option 3 and wait for the phone reboot into TWRP.
When you enter in TWRP, on bottom of screen you can choose english language.
After that is only to install the zip file. don't check for signature.
Now it's only need to reboot phone.
To enter on TWRP you need always to run the program to reboot your phone.
Anything ask

Thanks for that. I got them installed but when I boot the phone I get a google services has stopped and the phone shuts down I'm

having the same issue as helobot.
update to 2.05 no problem
But after installing gapps it crashes in the setup phase
any ideas ?

Did you rooted the phone before installing gapps by twrp?

Rooted from twrp, installed gapps, rebooted.
After a few minutes it started, google setup wizard.
It crashes with an exception.
Gonna give it a shot in a few

Call me an idiot, but I didn't make a backup of the delivered stock ROM KitKat 2.26.
Please have you guys an image? I am stuck for good.

And cleaned the cache and dalvik partition too? Mine its working with no problems.

Cleaned cache etc.
I could hit me for being so stupid to forget backing the original ROM up.
I can easily go to a stock Chinese ROM but at least a KitKat Google ROM would be nice.
Señor or anyone, can you provide a image of 2.26?

Unfortunately I didn't backup it either , but soon I will create a zip file with my Rom with Google apps installed.
I will check Nubia site for older roms too.

Getting the hands on an 1.26 is relatively easy, but the googlefied 2.26 seems to be rather hard to find ...

Hi, I have my phone with 2.26, I have rooted it with kingo, if you can provide me a custom recovery I can do a nandroid back up of complete rom.

Hi Steveyknoxville, Señor shared a custom recovery based on twrp and that works very well. I would really appreciate if you could provide us with the 2.26 ROM
The link is in the first posting of this thread.

Hi, I have read that senor twrp does not work on 4.4.2, are you confirming it does. My biggest question I need answered before I do anything is, if I install twrp how do I go back to stock recovery so I can do Ota updates to get to lollipop. Thanks.

Sorry but I can't confirm weather it fully works or not. I followed señor's guide and updated the phone. But if I recall the thread correctly from nubia cn forums the stock ROM should be a slightly modified twrp anyways.
Try just going into the recovery mode.
You should be able to backup the ROM.
Thanks for the invested time.

[Q] Two ROMs trying to load at once?

Hi!
This is my first time ever posting here and although I've found some topics relating to my issue, none have helped me out.
My problem:
I downloaded an app called Flashify.
From the app, I downloaded android 4.4 KitKat because I wanted to update my ROM.
When I booted my phone into recovery (stock <3e>), I clicked on install from SD card, installed the .zip file but I got an error...
It read:
"E:failed to verify whole-signature"
"E:signature verification failed"
"E:update fail and delete temp files"
"formatting /cache..."
Instalation aborted.
Now, if I try to set up my phone again, I'll get as far as the welcome screen and it will always say:
"Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped."
Please help.
I've tryed everything and I can't get rid of that error!
Thank you
Oh by the way, I forgot to give some details
The phone is a Huawei Ascend g330 U8825-1
Android 4.0.4 ICS
Rooted
Running stock everything (or at least it was...)
The file I tryed to install is called: "gapps-kk-20140105-signed-4.4.zip"
Did you even look at a guide on how to update your phone? Actually, I am quite sure you didn't or else you completely misunderstood everything you read. Neither is a good thing when trying to do something complicated like updating your phone unofficially.
1) You can't install a custom rom with stock recovery.
2) You didn't even download a rom - those are the Google Apps that are to be installed along with a custom rom like CyanogenMod.
3) You have to unlock the bootloader to install the custom recovery that will allow you to install updates not signed directly by Huawei.
I suggest you read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198908
There are links in the later pages to a version of 4.4.2 from the Modaco forums, as well as links to the original firmware, which you will probably need to re-install if a factory reset doesn't help.

I'm new to all of this and I thought that the app that I downloaded could do it all in one operation.
I wanted to take a chance and see would happen, thinking that any consequences that may occur, could be fixed with a factory reset.
Thanks for the link and the advice.
I'll have a read, now
Is it a serious problem or is there any way to fix it?
I tryed unlocking the Bootloader in DC-Unlocker but to no avail.

Getting CM 12.1 on my SPG621

Hey Folks,
I am totally new to this but I want to put CM 12.1 on my SPG621. I have unlocked the bootloader so far and I was looking for hours for a step by step guide that is noob-safe.
There are many guides and tutorials that tell different things and it is very hard for me to get the essence of it.
What I understand is as follows:
- I have an unlocked bootloader (and lost my DRM Keys, good job)
- get root
- install custom recovery
- install CM 12.1
Is that the correct order? How do I do that in detail? I don't understand how to install a custom recovery without root and I don't understand how to get root.
I have downloaded Flashtool so far. I would be glad if I got any helpful advices. Thanks a lot!
These are what I did to have root and twrp:
1. Check what version you are on right now. If you are on 5.0.2, you can root it by using Kingroot 4.5 (here)
2. If not, you can download stock 5.0.2 from here and flash it via Flashtool; then you can install Kingroot 4.5 and get root
3. Turn on usb debugging and unlock the bootloader again as you have converted to stock
4. Install twrp - download from here
5. Download CM12.1 and Gapps and install via twrp here
Hope it helps!
Thanks for your quick answer.
I now obtained root access via Kingroot. I would like to install TWRP Recovery now. I downloaded it via PlayStore. I chose my device and tapped on Install Recovery.
It now asks me to confirm a partition /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel else I would risk bricking the device. How can I make sure that this is the correct partition? I can't see this path in my file commander.
Cheers,
ArctiCMooN
Edit: Never mind, I didn't click on the link. I will install it with your link then and post the result here.

I have a few problems now that I try installing the dual recovery.
Root Checker says I successfully have rooted my device. BUT: I cannot find the KingUser App anywhere.
When I try to install TWRP via this dual recovery method, it asks me if I want to use SuperSU or SuperUser method, but I don't have anyone of the, is that correct?
Did something go wrong?

Thanks a lot for the help.
I managed to get CM12.1 on my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet.
I basically did what Mocha7 told me, although I wasn't sure about KingRoot 4.5 (trustworthy or not?). I gave it a try, the first time it failed, the second time the root was successful.
I did not install SuperSU or SuperUser and directly continued with the installation of XZDualRecovery and chose SuperSU method in the Windows Command Terminal.
This worked perfectly and the tablet directly started into TWRP. From there I started the installation of CM 12.1.
After that, I did a factory reset of CM 12.1 to erase all data of the old system and reinstalled XZDualRecovery.
I downloaded the latest Gapps from CM Wiki and installed it via Recovery.
The system works fine and I am extremely happy that I got rid of Sony's Stock Android. There are some very small bugs in CM 12.1: Rebooting erases some shortcuts on the homescreen and the lowest brightness setting is still quite bright.
Thanks again for the help!

Hi, Please report how is the condition of Cynogen mod 12.1, is it stable for daily use already?
wow, man! I read your post and think this is ME!! haha I just got my Z3 Tablet a few days ago and had the same struggle. I got it with 4.4.4 installed and jumped right to CM12.1. Also tried crDroid and like it actually much better^^ I got a big problem though. With these custom roms my camera would not focus! the back camera is useless. front is ok though. Have you anything like that??

Hi, CM 12.1 is quite stable but has a few bugs.
Restarting the device deletes most of my homescreen shortcuts.
The adaptive brightness options seems a little bit buggy. It switches brightness way too fast and too often, is not smooth, so I turned that off.
Besides that, I did not experience any further bugs.

Now there is a problem. I tried to update to a more recent nightly of CM 12.1. I did it via the settings menu and let everything happen.
Now I can't boot my device anymore nor can I boot into recovery. The device just tries to boot, shows the Sony symbol and then turns off and tries to boot again. So it is in a boot loop.
Can anybody help with this?
This happened to me a few times. Try to flash the recovery again and the flash the rom from there. If it works, good, if not....
It happened to last night when I tried the latest nightly. I could not do anything so I flashed the sony stock rom with flashtool. After that I could flash TWRP again. Not sure of any other way.
Yeah I had huge problems getting recovery on my device. I reinstalled stock 5.0.2, rooted it and tried to get the same dual recovery on it I used before, but it didn't work. So I downgraded to 4.4.4 and managed to get Custom Recovery on it and from there I managed to install CM 12.1 again. Now everything works fine, but my nerves need a rest now^^
glad it works. take a rest and enjoy haha
I have to wait some more or maybe even sell it because of the camera bug.... I don't like sony stock os ....

HTC Desire 626s - Stock Firmware/Rom?

Hey guys! Unfortunately I bricked my new HTC Desire 626s while fiddling around with xposed for lollipop after successfully rooting the phone and installing cyanogen recovery. I think if I flash the stock rom on the phone through either adb or cyanogen recovery I can unbrick it, but I have been unsuccessful in finding this file on the internet. Would anyone care to give me a link or upload the stock firmware/rom of this phone? It would really help me out, thank you!
You have to make sure the firmware is the same version or newer than the one currently on the phone as well as which carrier or region the phone is from. Without that, can't provide the correct file to download.

ANYTHING ELSE?? IF YOU CAN GIVE ME THAT DOWNLOAD LINK, MY MOM WONT KILL ME:crying::crying::crying: (she's really pissed :laugh Thank you btw!
Was just thinking about this...if you soft bricked after attempting to install Xposed, and nothing else, you should be able to get out of it by flashing the xposed uninstaller zip. If that does not work, stay tuned to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-626/help/htc-desire-626s-root-recovery-t3169169 as there are some others at the end of the thread in a similar predicament. It does not appear that there is an official RUU yet for the Metro version, only the T-Mobile version, and they are not compatible. Just try the uninstaller zip first because that would be the easiest thing to try and should only take a couple of minutes.

I tried this before my phone got ****ed and it worked:good:! If you can help me dude that'd be great. After uninstalling or changing some stuff in priv-app on my HTC Desire 626s, when I rebooted, it would just stay in a boot loop with the optimizing app message. Any ideas?
What did you uninstall? I would ask for those apps in that thread and use a flashable zip and install via TWRP. You might also try clearing caches and/or resetting the phone again. It DOES take a long time to optimize the apps after wiping stuff as well, so sometimes it is a matter of being patient.
This is why I ALWAYS recommend to freeze apps vs uninstalling. Uninstalling them does not get you any usable space back, so there is no benefit, but it can cause issues if you do need the apps, as you can see...

I believe I uninstalled the dialer and its service in an attempt to replace them with the stock lollipop ones. How do you install TWRP on this phone? My mom has the same phone and its also rooted but hers actually works so I was thinking since TWRP has a nandroid backup setting, I could simply do a nandroid backup on hers and flash it on to mine to see if it will boot up. What do you think? And for the optimizing apps thing, it would finish optimizing, say starting apps, reboot and then optimize again and repeat. Thanks for the help btw, I really hope we can fix this.
You have to unlock the bootloader @ htcdev.com and use fastboot to install TWRP. And yes, that would work, as long as they are on the same software update. Know that when you unlock the bootloader, it will automatically wipe the phone, so make sure she has everything backed up to Google, the PC, etc.

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused... How did you install Xposed and the Uninstaller without a custom recovery? Upon further searching, there doesn't appear to be a version of TWRP for your phone that I could find. Just figured you already had one. You must be on Kit Kat and not Lollipop?

I installed Cyanogen recovery before flashing Xposed and the uninstaller. I thought you had the TWRP recovery img for my phone which is why I asked. I believe some developers are working on a Clockworkmod recovery for this phone which is basically the same thing as TWRP recovery, right? Anyways I guess I just have to wait until that comes out, but I was wondering if anyone who somehow got a hold of the stock rom could upload it for us to use. It would be really helpful
ClockWorkMod is the recovery that Cyanogen uses. That is able to perform nandroid backups as well.
You have to unlock the bootloader, then if you messed up your stock rom and you've updated it to something newer than what Samsung gives for a stock recoverable rom, you must first use the tmobile vers, let it fail, and then use metropcs vers.
If you messed up recovery or anything it will all go back to stock after flash.
Next just copy superuser zip file to phone, go to download mode and adb flash cyanogen recovery img. Then reboot to recovery, choose to flash update, and find the superuser. zip and flash it, voila.

Kitkat, anyone?
Does anybody have a stock KitKat ROM for this device? I'd like to try to bypass the FRP, but am stuck on what must be either a marshmallow or lollipop ROM.
What carrier do you have?
I can send you a backup of the FRP.img for Marshmallow or for lollipop.
You can dd if= flash it to your device and you should be all good.
I am looking for any older roms for these devices too.
Seems like not too many people save the RUU and then HTC only releases the newest.
I got lollipop and marshmallow that's it.
But like i said we can fix the frp partition.
Issue is fixed

[Honor 5A aka. Huawei Y6 II Compact] Are there any custom ROMs?

Hello guys!
Recently, i've got this phone mentioned above. It is a great phone, everything is okay, but i do not like EMUI a lot, i prefer AOSP to EMUI.
Are there any custom ROMs (CM, AOSP, etc) to this phone?
I've looked around on 4pda.ru about this, i found a recovery, but thats it, nothing more.
There you go, i installed this TWRP 3.0.2.0, and it works like a charm.
1: Unlock your bootloader. IT IS INDISPENSABLE! If you brick your device locked, you lost.
2: Go into fastboot (Easiest: Turn off your device, and Hold down POWER DOWN + POWER WHILE you attach the USB from the computer. The phone will go instantly into fastboot mode, it works for me)
3: Type: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
4: The phone now should download the recovery. Pull the battery out, and restart in recovery.
Download
The file is from 4PDA.ru, i have to reupload it, because 4PDA's sign up is a PAIN. A friend of mine helped me, and it took like 2 hours.
Altough, i do not know why you need the recovery other than backing up, since there are no custom rom avaiable for this phone. (Can anyone maybe port to it?)
I think, that porting Allwiev E4 Lite custom roms would be the best option, but I have weak knowledge about roms porting :crying:

For first you may trie to install nova launcher? It gives some feeling near to aosp.

@snikerfreak did you find any rom for this device.
My son instaled TWRP and wiped everything trying to flash an honor 5A rom, installation failed so now phone is dead.
Do you know where to get a firmware? Can't find anything right!
All attempts to find firmware for my Dual Sim Huawei Y6 II Compact (LYO-L21) failed so I want to ask a BIG support to anyone in this thread with a TWRP recovery installed. By inexperience my teenager son wiped every partition on the phone and now we are unable to boot. It would be of great help if some one could share a twpr backup (including all partitions) to be used not only for me but for anyone as a flashable firmware.
I'm aware it would take some time, skills and dedication.
Here is how to perform it:
Backup your current phone firts with all your personal data
Do a Factory Reset
Do a second backup to be shared as a stock rom or standard firmware
Restore personal backup
Upload firmware (stock rom) backup to the cloud and share donwload link here
Is there anyone wanting to provide this?
I'll be very grateful for that
Thanks

Russian have custom ROMs in 4pda forum. It is Resurrection Remix OS 7.1.1 (unstable beta) and CyanogenMod 14.1_Android 7.1.1 (beta, camera not working). They stop work with RR_OS, but CM 14.1 is still porting.
You can help em.
links:
RR_Os port - 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=792704&st=560#entry60137872
CM 14.1 port - 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=792704&st=780#entry60547208
Also u can install ota-updates from custom recovery. Just del some strings in updater-script file into update.app \META-INF\com\google\android\ and repack its like .zip (w/o compression)
4xample strings:
assert(file_getprop(" -- it is checks firmware version and region
assert(apply_patch_check(" --- it is checks the hash sums of files the updates

Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon (Global) - OK to Root after update to 7.0?

Hello from Australia,
I recently purchased the Redmi Note 4 (Global) and absolutely love it! After owning iPhone for the last 8 yrs I am finding it very refreshing. I am looking forward to being part of this Android community
My questions is this - I am very keen on rooting the device but have also found that there is a pending update to 8.5.4.0 (Miui) and 7.0 (Nougat). Will I still be able to root it after I update and if so where is the best guide for me to do this?
Many thanks

yes, you can root it after updating to 7.0. First unlock bootloder. Install twrp recovery. and then flash SuperSu zip.
Note-Dont forget to flash lazyflasher-no-verify-opt zip after flashing twrp or you would go into bootloop.

Hello, and many thanks for your quick reply. Good, I had this guide that I was going to follow but then found out about my pending update:
EDIT - sorry, had to edit the url link as I'm a new user. h t t p ://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=667496
Do you think this is the right steps for me to follow? also, I have never flashed or tweaked an Android phone so don't know how to do the flashing of lazyflasher-no-verify-opt zip. I don't see that in the steps. How exactly do I do that? Do you have a link?
Thank you.

steps given in the guide are almost correct.First unlock bootloader which is the biggest hassle in whole process. Probably you wont be able unlock bootloader in first few tries as mi unlock tool will probably stuck at 99% and show error "account not binded to device".You can wait a few days and try again but i dont think that will work. To solve this problem what i did was-
download miui developer rom version 7.2.16 link-http://bigota.d.miui.com/7.2.16/miui_HMNote4XGlobal_7.2.16_e6eed016d8_6.0.zip
Now go to updater app choose downloaded zip as update package. Now updater would start decrypting it and your phone will be updated to developer rom. Now when on developer rom go to updater app and there will be an ota for latest version, update. Now when on latest developer version try to unlock again using mi unlock tool. I dont know if it will work for you but it worked for me.
Now your bootloader is unlocked, go to mido section in xda forums and download twrp for redmi note 4. To flash twrp recovery, there are many ways. process given in your guide may also work. But what I did was downloaded "mini flasher" link-"https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=25193&task=get" install mini flasher.choose install twrp, browse to the recovery image you downloaded and it will automatically flash it and reboot your phone to recovery.
Now when your phone is in recovery mode coose 'install'
choose the lazyflasher zip file you earlier downloaded. now reboot. again go to recovery install SuperSu zip file(link given your guide) reboot. your phone will probably bootloop one time but dont worry it is fine. now when your phone reboots it is rooted.
Well I sucessfully updated the phone to Nougat and it was very easy.
Now I have tried to unlock the bootloader but keep getting this message:
您所在的IP申请次数超标
I have googled it and it says I have tried too many times from my IP address. But I haven't - this was the first time. I have tried 3 times, with the same result.
Does anyone know how to get around this problem?
Thanks
The nougat update eats to much ram I got only 1.3 GB free ram
You could try Miui 9 beta channel after miui 8.5 update without unlocking or rooting. Just had to download the miui 9 recovery rom package. Place it in folder named downloaded-rom. Backup your imp data before proceeding. Goto the updater app or settings about, tap three dot menu. Choose update and select the downloaded file. It will erase all your data and update to miui 9.
They release updates weekly. And battery backup is outstanding.

Anyone able to help with this? I have read it is a common issue for it to incorrectly say you have had too many attempts but not really any conclusive answer as to how to get around the problem.
I am really keen on unlocking my bootloader. Thanks in advance.
