Are Huawei lying about the hardware? - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellow honor fans!
First of all I just want to say that I love my new honor 7, i'm an old oneplus one user, i'm quite spoiled when it comes to performance.
Anyway i've been running a few benchmark tests reaching a score of 50k on antutu which is decent for a €300 phone. But to my suprise, while testing the device, i saw that the GPU in honor 7 PLK-L01 is a MALI-T624 not MALI-T628 as advertised.
This made me very sceptical because t624 is two times slower than t628. I even tested three different benchmarks and all of em shows the same poor MALI-T624.
So are my fears true? I'll attach some photos of the three benchmarks i ran.
Edit: weird i couldnt upload the pictures..
Kind regards,
Sebastian

I have t624 too

Alright well this wont end well for Huawei if that's the case. Because then i'll return my honor 7 and sue em for false advertising.

There is a difference between Mali-T628 MP4 and Mali-T628. The MP4 version has only 4 GPU Cores instead of 8, being an upgraded verison of the T624 in fact. That's the reason why some apps (like CPU-Z and Antutu) recognise it as Mali-T624.

Only thing is that its faster with its deca corw processor and has more ram.
Many phones have the same look these days...
About this one:
Powerful at first glance, but rather poor build quality, many users are reporting connectivity issues.
Advice: avoid it.

Its a knockoff so its probably poorly optimized so it will probably be very slow.

Vernee like most Chinese smartphone manufacturers doesn't have any specific budget for paying international patents or specific design (including Xiaomi) so they can "share or borrow" their ressources one another including the mold... ^^
The SOC is based on Mediatek, so cheaper than Qualcomm and the phone is sold mainly on the Chinese domestic market with no international after sale services !
If you have any hardware problems, you'll have to send the device back to China, wait for some weeks and you'll most probably have to pay for shipping fees back and forth.
When you see the trouble to get official updates from Huawei, I don't think you can expect any regular updates from Vernee or any other Chinese manufacturers.

Agree, so I wont be getting it but it would be good to see some bench or speed tests from it. The lack of software updates probably kills this phone has you said.

Mate 10 Gaming Performance!

Hi.
Samsung Galaxy S8+ has a feature to optimize the phone for gaming performance.
I tried latest Asphalt game on both phones (Huawei Mate 10 & Samsung Galaxy S8+) and I noticed that some details look much better in S8+ than Mate 10!
For example, in the first mission, the windows of the apartments look blurry in Mate 10, But in S8+ they are much better (Of course in Gaming Mode).
Now, I want to know that if Mate 10 has a feature like Gaming Mode in S8+ or not?
Thanks.

Actually I'm talking about the Graphics. But that's a good point you mentioned.
The hardware should be able to handle it, especially the GPU... The phone doesn't get hot either. Luckily I am not that much into gamin anyway

But, I'm surprised about that, and Mate 10 has a great hardware!

What is the radiation (SAR) level of Huawei Mate 20 Pro?

Anyone knows what is the radiation (SAR) level (not value) of Huawei Mate 20 Pro?
And, how does it occur ... by switching on WiFi ... or as long as the phone is on ?
Thanks

Sar value of mate 20 pro
The bad thing about galaxy s10 which no reviwer talk about is the high SAR radiation of this phone, it's only 1 point less than acceptable limit i.e 1.6
Head Sar - 0.47 which is awesome
Body Sar - 1.59 but this is very high
I don't like Huawei brand but i was surprised to check huawei mate 20 pro has sar well below the limit.
Head 0.40, body 0.96. even the p30 pro has head 0.64, body 0.99

good to know. thanks
but no one yet has answered my other question ... do this radiation takes place while the phone is ON, or just when the WiFi is activated?
sorry, I'm just a beginner in this :fingers-crossed:
Well, i am a beginner too ? but the thing is as we use our phones these days a lot and the phones with more sar value will apparently be more harmful for our body as compared to lower ones.
I loved the new one ui in s10 series plus the good lock app but sar value of that phone can't be ignored but people do these days.

Yeah man but Samsung is becoming just greedy now like apple. They ship their phones globally other than north America with inferior Exynos chips. Exynos chips not only affects performance in comparison to Snapdragon but also camera, sound quality is inferior too,
plus this sar value i was just surprised because people say Samsung phones has least radiation level but it was just a thing of past. Body sar value of Samsung phones these days are a lot higher.
I wouldn't buy any good phone with high sar. I don't care what people say oh no this is bull****. Radiation is nothing but in my opinion it definitely affects in long run. Looking forward to newer galaxies next year and newer mate 30 series.

Thanks mate, this is very informative. Cheers
I will always buy phones with less sar value instead of good and bad software and blah blah blah.......
looks like the Mate 20 Pro is the best at the moment regarding the SAR level/value.
perhaps, it's better to switch off your WiFi and the phone itself for the night !?

Complete Flop!

For practically 500 USD (converted, not even released for the US) it was a total over hype. For that rate you better go find yourself an 865 device.
... Or even a Dimensity device at this point honestly, looks like it'll be a while before you ever get flagship specs again at a budget level with Qualcomm.

Opinions are like as###les. Everyone has one.
Like it, buy it. Don't like it don't buy it.
Indeed, so much money wasted on marketing that could have been used to reduce the price of the device. Be better off with a Redmi K20 Pro or a Realme X3, slap a custom ROM.
I ordered mine for 369€ from amazon(Germany) (they are doing a 30€ off for prime customers).
Im pretty satisfied with the price tbh, I got my oneplus 3 4 years ago for 400€ and I think its time to upgrade it.

I still use my OnePlus X (Onyx), which I bought ~5 years ago for 299€, but I'll gonna wait for the 6GB+64GB version to show up in Europe, because it should cost the same 299€.
369€ for 8GB+128GB is great deal, but I don't play games, so I don't need extra RAM or space..

You have no idea what you are talking about.
Current exchange rate suggests that Nord would cost 460 USD and that's when you convert it from 399 EUR, not 500 like you suggest.
Every Oneplus device of the last few years was cheaper in the US than in Europe, even when you adjusted it for VAT.
499$ devices were 499€.
So this would be a 399$ phone.
What do you expect from a budget phone in that price range?
I do agree tho The realme X50 pro is 489$ 8gb 128 gigs and it comes with SD865
Well for 419€(399€ for phone, new oneplus buds and a gift mistery box, 20€for pre order) i thunk is very good. I loke it i buy it, who don't, well don't buy.

Lol. Use same UI and same Android forever
why should I pay 300$ more for a 865 (OP8) if the 765 offers more than enough power for me?
so I can text faster and read news on the toilet faster?
Get control over your 'I always need to have the best on the market' attitude if you can't afford it lmao.
I'm glad the Nord exists because honestly I wouldn't buy anything else than a pixel or OP (or maybe some android one devices) because of the software no matter what cpu they offer.
I mean you can get a Poco F2 Pro with 865 for around the same price as the nord sometimes, but MIUI (or OneUI/ColorOS/EMUI) ruins the hardware and my OG pixel feels faster than that.

So does any of these "affordable" SD845 phones have a 4000+mha battery? a 90hz Amoled display? 5G support? a 2 year official software support?
Don´t get me wrong the SD845 is an awesome processor but it only beats the SD765 in gpu performance while losing in power efficiency and connectivity.

C'mon though let's be real, all bs aside. You could get a used SD855 device off Swappa in just fine condition for at or better than that price. Why are you fooling yourself? Yea a USED higher end phone from last year is still better than a new midrange one from 2020. That´s the point. You are comparing 2 different price brackets. But it´s pretty damn hard here in EU to fins a better phone for ~370€ even used.

First comparison just compares the GHz, that doesn't say anything.
It doesn't matter 845 or 765. They have both almost the same power and until you don't play Ultra HD 4k blablabla games you won't notice any difference! I have a 7T and a Redmi note 9 pro and I can tell you even the 720G in the note 9 does a very good job here! For surfing or YouTube and music even a Snapdragon 720g is enough. Battery is very great, much better than my OP 7T. Only camera sucks. So let's wait for the Nord.?

Question Support for this device?

Since the production for 780g has stopped, that means hardly anyone will make a custom roms or stuff like that, but my question is, does that means that offical updates from Xiaomi for MIUI will also stop or they'll be rarer in compare to other devices?
I wonder, will we get normal updates or they'll be rarer cuz of rarity of this cpu?
For custom you can use GSI ROMs..for the rest only Xiaomi knows, but maybe less update
I'm very disappointed, I would never buy this phone if I new this model would be abandoned. This news was launched 2 days after I bought it :-(
Should be worried? I generally don't think it will be " abandonded" Xiaomi like xiaomi, we'll get updates for sure, burt idk how often.
I also think that the production of 780g might continue in the near future? Thoguths, gentlemen?

MI 11 lite 5g appear on Android 12 update list. So probably we receive A12 and 1-2 patches and than stopped. Anyway Xiaomi is known for short support for his phones.
Im hoping that both versions get the same support. The only difference being the SOC(?) with everything else being exact.

Tehnically, yeah, the diffrence in perfomance is so tiny.
Unlikely it changes anything. I'm 100% sure support for 5G ends when support for 5G NE ends. Maybe less often security updates, that's it. Support for both phones will be dropped with MIUI 14 or 15. Android 12 guaranteed, Android 13 possible.

This website base power efficiency on guesses I'm afraid. No real tests. Rest is based on pure benchmark numbers. But there is no benchmark for power efficiency. They thought 5 nm means efficient but fact is our phone likes to run hot.

Okay then, looks like you are right then. How is that possible that Xioami kills performance of their phones with OS is just beyond me. But still they are not bad in terms of efficiency, many Xiaomi phones leading battery charts. So I assume other companies are even worse. Wish to try custom ROM but for safety reasons I don't want to.
