Complete Flop! - OnePlus Nord Guides, News, & Discussion

For practically 500 USD (converted, not even released for the US) it was a total over hype. For that rate you better go find yourself an 865 device.
... Or even a Dimensity device at this point honestly, looks like it'll be a while before you ever get flagship specs again at a budget level with Qualcomm.

Opinions are like as###les. Everyone has one.
Like it, buy it. Don't like it don't buy it.

Indeed, so much money wasted on marketing that could have been used to reduce the price of the device. Be better off with a Redmi K20 Pro or a Realme X3, slap a custom ROM.

I ordered mine for 369€ from amazon(Germany) (they are doing a 30€ off for prime customers).
Im pretty satisfied with the price tbh, I got my oneplus 3 4 years ago for 400€ and I think its time to upgrade it.

I still use my OnePlus X (Onyx), which I bought ~5 years ago for 299€, but I'll gonna wait for the 6GB+64GB version to show up in Europe, because it should cost the same 299€.
369€ for 8GB+128GB is great deal, but I don't play games, so I don't need extra RAM or space..

You have no idea what you are talking about.
Current exchange rate suggests that Nord would cost 460 USD and that's when you convert it from 399 EUR, not 500 like you suggest.
Every Oneplus device of the last few years was cheaper in the US than in Europe, even when you adjusted it for VAT.
499$ devices were 499€.
So this would be a 399$ phone.
What do you expect from a budget phone in that price range?

I do agree tho The realme X50 pro is 489$ 8gb 128 gigs and it comes with SD865

Well for 419€(399€ for phone, new oneplus buds and a gift mistery box, 20€for pre order) i thunk is very good. I loke it i buy it, who don't, well don't buy.

Lol. Use same UI and same Android forever

why should I pay 300$ more for a 865 (OP8) if the 765 offers more than enough power for me?
so I can text faster and read news on the toilet faster?
Get control over your 'I always need to have the best on the market' attitude if you can't afford it lmao.
I'm glad the Nord exists because honestly I wouldn't buy anything else than a pixel or OP (or maybe some android one devices) because of the software no matter what cpu they offer.
I mean you can get a Poco F2 Pro with 865 for around the same price as the nord sometimes, but MIUI (or OneUI/ColorOS/EMUI) ruins the hardware and my OG pixel feels faster than that.

this guy has some serious maths problem or he hates Oneplus for no good reason, because 24,999₹ = ~335$ as of now and top model is 29,999₹=~402$.

So does any of these "affordable" SD845 phones have a 4000+mha battery? a 90hz Amoled display? 5G support? a 2 year official software support?
Don´t get me wrong the SD845 is an awesome processor but it only beats the SD765 in gpu performance while losing in power efficiency and connectivity.

C'mon though let's be real, all bs aside. You could get a used SD855 device off Swappa in just fine condition for at or better than that price. Why are you fooling yourself? I get it new, flashy hype. Go for it, it's just my personal opinion that your (closer to)$500(than $400) could be funneled in a "better" direction for what you're wanting.

Yea a USED higher end phone from last year is still better than a new midrange one from 2020. That´s the point. You are comparing 2 different price brackets. But it´s pretty damn hard here in EU to fins a better phone for ~370€ even used.

First comparison just compares the GHz, that doesn't say anything.

It doesn't matter 845 or 765. They have both almost the same power and until you don't play Ultra HD 4k blablabla games you won't notice any difference! I have a 7T and a Redmi note 9 pro and I can tell you even the 720G in the note 9 does a very good job here! For surfing or YouTube and music even a Snapdragon 720g is enough. Battery is very great, much better than my OP 7T. Only camera sucks. So let's wait for the Nord.?

It's time to say goodbye - farewell OP rant

As a former huge OnePlus fan, it's time to say goodbye. I never upgraded after the 2, the phones got more expensive and the upgraded features didn't justify the additional cost. I've been running my OnePlus 2 on DU 11.5 for months now, the ROM development just never got to where we all hoped it to be. I blame OnePlus for this not giving the developers the tools needed and really hindering their success opportunities.
A huge thanks to all the devs who have and still put work into keeping this phone development alive. Until we meet again.
As for where I'm going. I'm a 2 phone guy, one for work and one for personal. I'll be switching my personal over to the Samsung A5(2017) which is an incredible phone. And my corporate phone will be an iPhone 7...
Farewell. I'm personally not buying OnePlus again.
Oneplus is still using USB 2.0 in the OP5, over 2 years after the type C spec was published. There is still issues with jpeg compression in their phone app and it is not adjustable. Not releasing decent camera blobs for devs to use in their roms, etc. Oh yeah, premium pricing too. No thanks, I am done with them too.
My carrier has the LG G6 on sale right now, I think I'm gonna try that. I love the idea of a wide angle lens, and the Google camera app with HDR+ is confirmed working on it.

Farewell!!
Yeah, I have enjoyed my one plus 2 also but the lack of decent support from the company has turned me off from them. Around the beginning or middle of next month I will be switching to something else. Farewell OP2
OP2 is still a decent phone even in 2017. It's all about finding the right rom for your needs. But yeah.. OP is a terrible company and have forgotten what made them great in the past.

This sums up my thoughts too. I'm happy with my OP2 for now but when it comes time to change I won't buy another OP.
What if I told you that OnePlus provided the tools, but no one here ever made efficient use of them since Grarak left?
This device still has life and its still a solid phone. I just got it and my intention is to improve it.

I would say yey new ROM !
There seems to be some good devs working on the phone still so would be surprised if they where all missing something.
I'l just dreaming about Google doing affordable Nexus devices again ... They would be so successful I'm sure. I first bought the 2 because the 6P was too expensive for me, but I still don't know about any other company which is "developer friendly" as OnePlus and Google. So yeah I'm stuck buying ****ty devices from a brand who doesn't car about their customers
Never settle. Yeah right.
Some good points here, yes, OP2 is still a good phone even in 2017. OnePlus turned it's back on it in pursuit for more ka-chiiiing, and 3, 3T or 5 haven't done much to make them sooo much better. But prices, oh my. Just got OnePlus spam in my mail, new OP5 model with more memory already! What? How much?
6GB RAM + 64GB Storage
499,00 €
8GB RAM + 128GB Storage
559,00 €
So I went to see my order from february 2016. I got 64GB one at the time when 32GB was available. Mine was 345€ minus 40€ for coupon. So 305€. Guess what OnePlus, I won't be settling.

Come on, stop. OnePlus 2 was not a good phone, is not a good phone and would never be a good phone.
How can you say it's a good phone when you see User Experience is so bad with the Snapdragon 810, when there is so much thermal throttling every time you are doing something on the phone ? (don't talk about underclock / overclock / custom kernel / etc, those are elements which are flashed after by the user, and are not relevant for every users).
When you can see that you can buy a OnePlus 3T for 350E on Ebay (what I did, phone is in perfect condition), you should not even consider buying the OnePlus 2.
Never had those problems, but I am not using it for games. Phone works just fine - not saying it is (or ever was) a great phone, just a reasonably good one. Mostly let down by software and company which became greedy, and yes, while being the latest thing at the time Snapdragon 810 wasn't that good. Still it works for all basic needs, even after 2 years specs are almost impressive and user experience can be ok. *Not* a power-user experience.
Not comparing it to flagships because it never really was in that category, and you also should put it in it's price bracket, you bought used 3T for 350€ while OP2 when new was 300€. So there's that. After having it for a year and a half I am surely not considering buying another one or recommending someone to get OP2 or any OP actually. For that user experience and satisfaction should be on higher level.
Actually i will buy oneplus again. Why, because it's cheaper then the rivals much cheaper. And i really like my oneplus 2, spent 100 euros for it, really cheap and good phone.

Bought a Nexus 4 towards the end of them selling out for like £150 or something, was a brilliant phone even though I replaced god knows how many screens and back's on it but was a great great phone
Efforts will be put in getting Oreo up for the OP2, specifically halogenOS 8.0

LG G6 worth the money at this time? July 2018

Hello, Im currently considering buying the LG G6 becouse it is around 310 Euros here. And in this price Range i dont see anything good for this price. I like the Wide angle camera and i saw also that it got Oreo update.
I was looking up for the Oneplus 6 or VG30 which is also 500 Euros. But considering that i will change any phone in 2 years... Dont wanna spend more than 400

Definitely not worth it. Better go for a phone with Snapdragon 660 or 710....
well, as last comment sayd better go with some SD710, if you can wait you can buy a Xiaomi Mi8 SE with SD710 for more 50 dollars more with better specs.
For me it's the best smartphone in this price range. Everything is at least very good, with no downsides.
My girlfriend bought it to replace her iphone after trying mine and she is truly happy with it.
I won't ever spend more than 300-350€ in a phone, because the increase in price is not worth it. And there's no better option. I won't buy a Xiaomi phone because its poor software. Also the Mi8 SE has no ip68, no radio fm, no 3,5 mm jack, no sd card slot, smaller battery... And we'll see what reviews says about its display or camera.

Poor software?! i mean, is not poor, is less intuitive, but with MIUI 10 around the corner it will be better, and feature wise Xiaomi is way better than LG, i can tell you because i already have some Xiaomi's to play for a week or twoo and you can see in my phone history i already have a lot of LG phones and i can tell you:
If LG put half (right, half) of the features of Xiaomi have i can be more happy. LG have some advantages like microSD, better camera, better screen and design...its about that only, nothing more impress with G6, with Xiaomi (and i am talking about mid to high end Xiaomi's) you experience is a lot better even tho the things is a little bit unorganized, spread all around settings and its hard to find some things sometimes but its OK.
I bought my G6 a moth ago, and i am happy...but now i go to store, play around with Mi MIX 2 and compare it to my G6 (at the time i can get both for around 350) and now, if time could be pushing back i chose Mi MIX 2 over G6...but i can live with G6 anyway.
Its my opinion, you make your choise, i just say my experience with both brands...
Sure MicroSD card is a must have for some people (me too) but you can learn to live without...trust me, like IR Blaster and HiFI DAC, my V10 have that and i can live without that with G6 (the featureless phone i have for a long time).
Well speaking of software it's always subjective, but for me it's very bothering that MIUI is too intrusive. I mean for example, I had a lot of problems trying to set Signal as default messing app instead the built in one. It kept auto changing back to default from time to time.
Xiaomi is always very good overall for its price, but right now I don't think there is a phone more complete than G6 for its price.
if softwer update is not important for you i suggest you buy a G6 its better for you buy a H870 Eu model or US997 if u are in usa this two models are officialy bootloader unlocked and get better software updates and dont buy dualsim one at all advantages of G6 : main camera is pretty good , screen quality is very good at this price better than iphone i compared with my friend , u can experince a good sensation with UX6 interface of G6 , some one say that this phone has battry drain but my phone does not have this problem , just only thing i dont like it is selfi camera and at last i can tell u this phone is very good at this price i tell u again if softwer update is not important to u close ur eyes and buy a G6
No one has mentioned the G6 has a flat screen with no curves. This makes tempered glass installation really easy and you get full protection. Otherwise the phone is really good. My wife's has not given her any trouble.
Well I can get the Eu Version and it has Oreo. And I was thinking if it get poor Software update I can flash it manualy. I even have this conspiracy in my head that after some point the companies like Samsung send you some cool improvment update which for Example drains your Battery on purpose. From the G6 i am expecting normal to good Battery life and some cool Photos. I saw that with Google Camera there is better Quality. And yes i do want the 3.5mm jack and Im looking for a phone to carry me 2 years. But I just dont see good Mid Range Phones for Max. 400 Euros Also I have Samsung S9 in my hands that i got from my new contract but I will try to sell it for 500 becouse it has The Battery draining Exynos Version.

THIS ! I'm sick of searching for screen protectors for curved glass screens. They never cover full surface nor look good after installation.
I regret at times, try to avoid
Software updates sucks, lags a lot, it feels like snapdragon 600 series processor (I have 20-25 off apps).
Camera at the back is amazing, front camera is pathetic(although u can download google camera, but still front camera sucks in most of the siltation)
Battery is very ok. 3.5 hrs screen on time. I would definitely not suggest. I was so frustrated with battery and lagging issues i bought a secondary phone (redmi note 5 pro and it is wayy better)
Audio output is ok compared to other mid range phone of 2018. Although screen is good but not great in 2018
Try buying from aliexpress, MI Mix 2/2s are extremely good phones and it does not look as copy of iphone x as well.
apart from camera, everything sucks

You can always change software. Most of the xiaomi phones have a custom rom/software. As a senior member, you should know that I always change my rom when i hate stock one. I dont know about you, but i dont throw phones out because of firmware (except iphones and windows based phones xD).
Or should i get me the V30 for 200 euros more (500 total) I really want this Wide Camera and good Battery life. Altho v30 is a little bit to big for my hands.
I'm going to join in as I'm looking to buy a new phone. I was almost convinced that I would buy LG G6 but I just browsed G6 rom development forums and wow it's pretty stall. My current Galaxy S4 has more options inluding LOS 15,1.
I was also looking at Honor 10 but then I found out that Huawei blocks bootloaders so it's a no no for me.
Seems like XIAOMI phones have really solid community and plenty of roms to chose from.
Xiaomi MI6 and mentioned here Xiaomi MI8 SE look really great but they lack a few features I would like to have such us 3,5 mm jack, SD card slot.
Not sure what to do now I kind of not want to be stuck with LG G6 running stock Android 8,1 for another 2-3 years.

Read this before You buy POCO !!!

Hi XDA Friends
Below is an eye opener that I think got me convinced not to buy POCO- check out why:
I keep on hearing bad thing in my area about POCO from advanced users who judged the phone only by it's specification.
They told me that indeed the CPU/SoC (Snapdragon 845) is a great stuff but the phone as a whole makes no sense cause:
1. No NFC and no OIS (optical image stabilization)
2. Not so good cameras (Xiaomi used to delived better camers to other devices)
3. Every other part of the phone except the Snapdragon 845 which is currently the best Snapdragon on the market is making huge distance to that quiality of the CPU. Basicly they told me that Xiaomi put a super CPU/SoC and a good battery into a budget phone so it is not worth buying.
4. They said that it's way better to buy Huawei Mate 10 Lite or Honor 10 cause these phones as a whole are well balanced.
5. NO Amoled display screen, just IPS.
6. Xiaomi lured users to buy a phone with that Snapdragon 845 but as a whole it isnt a photo phone, a storage phone, a gaming phone. It's just and overpriced Redmi Note 4/5.
What do You think dear Friends?
People will find faults in everything. What were you expecting for $300? were you expecting Note 9 for $300?
you get what you pay for. for the price, this phone has good enough cameras, top of the line processor.
People will always b*tch about something. The phone is not overpriced at all.

tell them , this is the reason why this phone is worth buying. Those Huawei phones dont allow bootloader unlock, so f*ck Huawei. Huawei came to xda, and when the became popular they just locked them bootloaders and left.
also, change the title on your thread. stop with the click bait, drama creating titles.

PLease dont make me a drama king cause I really hate to give such titles but here at XDA we all are like a huge family and I believe we should take care of each other hence this tittle.
Look difrently if someone wants this phone real bad that topic wont stop him.

Then your title should be
is the poco f1 overpriced?
this title which you have
"Read this thread before you buy POCO"
is absolute BS of a title.

I disagree dude. These advanced users never mentioned price. It's not about it, its about the balance of all components.

what your advanced users are looking for is a $750 phone for $300 which will never happen.
There is a reason why the Pixel, S9, Note 9 cost what they cost.
dont change the title. this thread will die like many such on xda.

I agree about they money but they claim that this phone isnt worth even this $300. Either You buy something cheaper or something much more expensive. This phone is like a planet without a sun. No purpose at all.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Dude. Let's not start a fight. It will get us nowhere. If You would like to know I preordered POCO a couple of days ago and I always have the chance of canceling.
Dude seriously??? Did you just came after watching some BS drop tests and all on youtube, that made you these thoughts?? You don't need to be smart to see if you drop your phone what will happen?? And geez Snapdragon 845 is the main purpose all are buying this device, Name any device in the same price 300$ or lower which is better than this or at least competes with this?? Seriously i saw only one guy hating it thinking like it could be xiaomi's strategy to make people in trap, I met many people who already bought this and are all happy to thw fullest and 0% people complaining which I personally know.

One more thing it would have be great if you first bought the device yourself and experience and then share it rather than competing with the guys who already own this beast and are happy.

And none of your points make any sense about soc and battery are senseless and for NFC personally in my country it's waste and no one gives shi*s it's useless.

I'm just saying that my these advanced users do make valid points.
Why do You think I ordered this phone in the fist place? Casue of Snapdragon 845 and I am not campaning against POCO. I;m just leaving this message for pleeople that have a big imagination.
Personaly, I'd like to have it but I care about XDA users and I respect others opinion. So chill dude, please.
I don't have the phone but will be ordering it as soon as possible.
The lack of NFC doesn't bother me since I have never used it in my entire life. Not having OIS is a bit disappointing but whatever, I never take pictures in low light so that doesn't matter too much.
AFAIK the cameras are still pretty decent, or at least that's what the reviews seem to suggest. I watched some camera comparisons with the OnePlus 6 and they both seemed equally matched, more or less.
I would never buy a Huawei phone for the same reason someone mentioned above, betraying the entire dev community like a bunch of assholes. No bootloader unlock means no sale!
I am glad there are still high-specced phones out there with IPS panels. My eyes are extremely sensitive to the Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) used in OLED panels to regulate brightness. My Axon 7 caused me months of headaches and eyestrain until I realised that's what was causing the problem. Never again will I buy another AMOLED phone unless they figure out how to get rid of PWM.

so POCO is geat for You, Im happy to hear that. BTW You're the first person saying that dosnt like amoled
I kind of disagree with the post, several reviewers have rated the phone well on most counts, I am not a tech reviwer but an enthusiast who spends money to experience the new and the nice in tech.
Any phone has shortcomings, and so has this but imagine what you are paying for those, the curved screens on galaxy devices is effectively one of the things what one pays the premium for yet the real world functionality remains arguable. Having said that let me state whats amazing about this phone in my hands on experience so far.
1. Photo quality and Camera speed, the camera launches quick, snaps quick, the ai detection is fast and accurate and pictures are good with or without ai and hdr
2. Phone handling, single handed use, comfort, the phone gets this right. Face unlock, finger prints unlock are both very fast, the raise to wake feature is super useful. It does not feel a cheap phone by any means.
3. Battery life is too early to judge but my first charge has gone 30 hours with 3 hours screen time in a very bad reception area. (still at 50%)
4. The screen quality, contrast and outdoor usage all are at par with the good screens around. No complaints there yet.
5. The software on board is fast and functional, gestures work well plenty of settings to customize, the stock poco launcher is certainly better than what you see on Redmi phones
The minor annoyances come from the following
1. The curve at the bottom of the bottom could have been smaller, its not stopping anything functionally but just feels a bit more than needed.
2. Notification icons don't show up on the notification bar
3. Icons don't seem to have an option to resize. Nothing that another launcher won't solve.
Some may think its not a gaming phone, or a camera phone, why don't we think its a functional phone which ticks all the boxes without trying to be the master of one, the phone does everything well. If you must compare the phone, do so against the flagships and see how many contests it fights well, don't compare it to the midrange phones because it just bests them in all areas.
In an analogy form this phone is a new heavyweight boxer that can stand its ground well in the ring.
If someone has only 300$ to spend, they must buy this, if one has 250$ to spend, this is worth the 50$ extra if one can manage, if someone has 400$ or more they would not regret spending 300 here, though they are free to spend the extra bit on whatever feature specific phone they would like.

Man, people say some funny stuffs that we can't know if it's serious or not. NFC isn't a deal breaker for many many people. The camera uses the same sensor as Mi 8, Mi Mix 2S, Vivo NEX S, Asus Zenfone 5z that are so much expensive. The lack of OIS is not the end of the world and if a person want it so just spend more money for that.
A lot of flagships has 3000, 3000, 3400mAh and Pocophone has 4000mAh and it's not good enough.
AMOLED? Really? Even Mi Mix 2S don't have it, LG G7 doesn't have it, Xperia XZ2 don't have it and some others. They are all much more expensive and don't have it. The important thing is that Pocophone has a good quality IPS display.
The phone has good screen, good battery life, good camera, it's well made, stellar UFS storage, stellar memory speed and stellar SoC and people complain. If someone wants stellar everything, so go buy a phone that is double or triple the price. The phone gives us more than we pay for sure. There are a lot of phones in the market that is medium to good in everything and costs around $300.
As person who have poco phone and Note 8 , i have to humbly disagree OP's points
1. NFC is good to have but not a necessity but personally i have far better option (Called note 8) and also we so called advances users would have over specs 1000 times before buying any device be it poco f1
2. It has good camera(s) with 1.9 and 2.0 aperture lenses with sony IMX sensors and for price point they do great in good lighting conditions and OIS is again good option to have but not a must.
3. Not sure how to answer that question as you have done it yourself as XIaomi has put SD 845 SOC in a budget phone
4. DOn't have those phone to comment on them
5. Amoled is awesome as i have one of the best amoled screen on phone but this IPS LCD panel is no slouch adequate brightness and color accuracy
just my .02 cents
NFC - you will not find NFC in any device in the same price range, not even Honor Play and what you will do with NFC? I have had atleast 3 phones with NFC but they were useless because except samsung pay my country has no support for NFC payment.
2. AMOLED? Are you serious?? Does honor 10 has amoled? I have used LCD all my life and had no problem, only viewing angles are bad, why would anyone see their phone from sides btw? I have 2 ways of getting an AMOLED:
i. If I buy a mid range phone that has AMOLED and useless processors like SD450 or SD430 Cost - 300USD-400USD
ii. If I buy a high end phone that has both AMOLED and great processor - Cost - More than 700USD
Xiaomi's LCD screen is on par with even expensive phone's display.
3. Honor and Huawei are worst companies in terms of open source and custom ROM development. I had an honor 8 pro, these idiots said they will support development but after few months they flew away, now there is no method to even root the phone and last I had heard, Huawei/Honor will not allow bootloader unlocking.
4. Everyone knows that the camera is not good, it is called cost cutting, everyone here is buying Poco just for the SoC. I was going to buy Honor Play, but however bad poco's camera is, it is still better than honor play's camera and android Pie is certain but Honor nowadays is not even providing patches on time and with each new update a new bug arises.
5. And you are right, Poco F1 is nothing but Redmi Note 5 with a better SoC. And don't even mention Widevine here, I have Moto Z play, Honor 8 Pro, Mi A1, Samsung J7 Max and none of them support Widevine L1 and most of them cost more than Poco.
Your power users are noobs and not experienced people and you sir, either are a very rich guy, else you are extremely stupid.
your points are all invalid because the phone costs 300 bucks lol
Dude, you high or something? Change the damn title to "is Poco F1 worth the price?". You are not giving some top secret news about POCO. You are just sharing your stupid opinion which anyone can. "Read before you buy?". I have it and it's awesome. You just don't understand tech stuff a lot. 100000 people already has it. 5000 has posted 5* review on flipkart.
Just takes a few minutes to read the customer review before buying anything. Do that.
Is US$300 reasonable to buy a Xiaomi Poco F1????
@everyone
Good Day!
I come across all earlier contributions with good and bad comments on this particular Poco F1 ...... .! Bear in mind from the business point of view ask ourselves why US$300 on a snap dragon 845 ... surely might be wrong on this huh! Well, Xiaomi is adopting very aggressive marketing penetration to wipe all the heavy weights like Apple, Samsung, Huawei and smaller ones as well on this! Poco F1 hits them well just like that.
Everyone is entitled to his/her own experiences based on what one believing in the pros and con ..... bearing in mind how long will this lasts! Is just another phone US $300 justify your meets/want for 1-2 years before the next wave going to hit in the market maybe the Oppo or Vivo phones are getting ready to hit back at Xiaomi with more prudent and well built features in probably less than US $250 for soc 855 or 865! Not forgetting that idiot Huawei good for nothing "No bootloader unlock" phrase and many still reluctant players NOT willing to open up bootloader unlock ..... . will count them out.
Conclusion is based on every individual who thinks value for money, ease of operation, good OS (nothing is perfect at least 90% satisfied), NFC not necessary ... many others can do away with it, and end up simply with a price of US $ 300 is certainly the justification that I want with following rationales:
1. Can you still find another alternative or replacement unit with US $300 for a soc 845 ;
2. I can still do my bootloader unlocking but with minimum frustration (1440 hours or 61 days to unlock >> latest new!!!) with Xiaomi;
3. I still can have my custom roms later part ([RECOVERY] TWRP-3.2.3-x [beryllium], Tool/Utility for the Xiaomi Poco F1) or maybe OrangeFox .... . more custom roms will be available by then;
4. If I don't like custom rom I still can revert back to stock roms which is another alternative! Bearing in mind Xiaomi is making a great impact now and maybe the next 10-20 years future to stay more competitive; and
5. Target on this model may last me for a year or 2 ..... by then a much better model with higher specs would surface to take over Poco F1.
Till then Good Luck guys! - -

[QUESTION] Is POCO F1 Worth It AT 185 Dollars 6/128 GB Model? [22/10/2019]

Hello.
Right now, POCO F1 (6/128 GB Model) is being sold in India at appoximately 185 Dollars (Rs. 13,000) with all the discounts and deductions.
What I am looking for atleast 3 years from now?
- Respectable camera specs. Not professional but very much satisfactory till 2022 end.
- Good XDA community support and ROMs
- Lag-free day-to-day experience
I don't game so no such requirements.
If all the points mentioned above will be satisfied according to you then please do tell in the comments. Thanks a lot!

Camera is good but it won't last till 2022 as satisfactory camera considering already we see mobiles with 65mp camera. Also at current growth I don't think any mobile can last for 4 years. (f1 launched on 2018)
Xda support will be there till 2022 easily I guess considering still lot of top developers are working on poco device
Lag free yes currently I feel my mobile is on par with other mobiles in 20k price segment

POCO F1 is GOOD device in 2019 but you wana device that RUN till 2022 ? , thats hard to say bro!
i think by 2022 we will be having 5g everywhere, galileo Support (its next Gen of GPS), QLED and 21:9 HDR 8K perhaps been pusing out in devices! WHO KNOWS? 2022 is 3 years from now on! , perhaps ram would be 16gb in all midrange devices!
however having said that! I think YOU SHOULD NOT buy Poco because I personally believe i am not going to use poco till after Sep2020...
go for Xiaomi A3 , its on Android One and usually Android One devices are smoother in performance! and A3 is Led, Go for 6gb variant!
other Android One devices for you could be Nokia Midrange devices :s
Not worth it. Don't get this phone. It's a scam.
My best choice even after galaxy note 10. Srsly, tottaly worth it device. Best performance, battery life, exellent camera, overall tactile sensitive is 9/10. AND remember - this choice is subjective factor. My test device is N910F and its pretty good in the last quarter ot 2019, but for my specific usage, even i9300 is my working daily driver. I think the price is awesome for Poco, so dont scare to dive in!

Take the Poco and do not hesitate. It is bang for the buck as ****. Whether or not it will become laggy depends on software, if they decide to degradenit, you will notice, Camera already starts being behind others, so by 2022 it will be defashioned. I am satisfied by the pictures it can give. So you should really focus on your opinion, cause the Poco greatness is repeated over and over again

Galileo is only the european satellite system. It is already used by the pocophone. We even have dual GPS with L5 meaning increased accuracy in cities.
8K is not happening on phones. 7 years ago we already had FHD. Some manufacturers tried WQHD like LG G5 or even UHD with Sony XZ Premium in 2017 but most Phones stay at FHD or FHD+ because of 21:9 since this is enough for our eyes.
Camera, Software and maybe battery technology are the only major things which need improvement

People feel "scammed" because a 1 1/2 year old device doesn't have the next android update instantaneously. I am happy with the update policy and it is still amongst the first to be updated. Huge community development and fpr less than 200$ a no brainer compared to mid range devices coming out.
TCL announced a new phone for 300€ with way worse specs, nokias cant compare at this price point either. Sure I'd like a wide angle cam, OIS and a few other things. But thats not happening for less than 400€

thanks for the insight, i have xzp and it stays on fhd only! however answering to the question here, 2022 is far ahead where mobiles are concern. I believe even TODAY, its ONLY SONY that is using 21:9 screen ratio in Xperia1 & Xperia5 and now soon to be in xperia 8.
most of the High end Xiaomi phones are on 19.5:9 ratio, (including Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G)
so by 2022 we will be having 21:9 ratio in most of the fones
more over, I think if he wana use fone for 3 years then He should buy something in LED line, Poco has LCD only with Screen Bleed issues, even my Poco has a fine double shade line on the left side of the screen (noticed from day1). so in my opinion and price range he should buy A3 (or any ANdroid One phone on LED).
P/s , A3 is on SD665 (where Poco is 845), and A3 has NO liquid cooling system,
but then on SD6xx series you don't need one! I used RN5p for many months! it never lag (SD636) --- A3 has 4gb ram but make sure you find 6gb variant
Prior to the Poco, I was someone who changed phones every year. I'm not saying I always bought the expensive ones but I always changed every year to what I needed at the time. My Poco right now is more than a year old but I have no intention to get a new phone.
The entire forum is filled with threads on touch issues and people claiming that Xaiomi is slowing down devices with every update.
I honestly haven't found a single issue with this phone.
I love how fast it performs . Iove how it just gets its intended job done without any hiccups. And with 9 hours screen on time, this is easily one of the only phones that last this long.
However, coming to your question (I'm using the 6/128 myself)... Technology moves fast. Buying last year's top Gen is often a smart choice for the wallet, but not in the eyes of the corporations.
If you want to buy this phone, go for it.
It has amazing performance, an amazing camera and most of all amazing battery life. These are the things that matter.
My genuine advice however is that you get a newer phone. Even if it's weaker than the 845. Corporations want you to move on to the the latest.
My advice, get the ROG Phone II
It ticks all the right boxes and it's future proof till 2021.
However if you're looking for a phone that just does well, a POCO at 15k isn't a bad deal. I actually love my Poco even though I can buy more expensive phones. Hu

Note20 Hype

Who's already thinking about upgrading their phone, according to the current informations we have about the future Note? And which phone do you want to replace it with?
I'll start: I'm a big fan of the Note series since the first one (I don't use the Spen that much, but I find the overall design and specs to be quite nice, I prefer it over the S series). I usually skip one iteration because I find on one year they add features, and the next year they fix some of the previous year's mistakes. I even had the Note7... not for long So now, even it it still rocks, I'm thinking about replacing my Note9 with a Note20, for the cameras, the display, and all that stuff. Yes I'm totally into the consumer's profile, paying the full bill for a "minor" upgrade, but I enjoy it
What about you guys?
I'm hyped!
Note 10+ here, but I got the upgrade plan or whatever through Samsung with every intention of getting this year's model.
My biggest excitement? 120Hz screen and the new colors. Improved camera as well. I'm hopeful the battery life will remain similar despite the increase in refresh rate.
I'm actually trying to find out reasons to NOT get the Note 20 Ultra and I'm not finding many so far which is a good thing.

Big bump, but the array looks way better than the S20 Ultra.
Oh Im getting it for sure, the new copper color.
Will be keeping my note 10 plus though and still even use my copper note 9 once in awhile lol.
On an S8 and have been putting off a new phone because every time I get hyped I read about what the NEXT one is going to have, most recently skipped the S20 because the 120hz doesn't work on the highest resolution, but I think the Note 20 Ultra will finally be what I drop money on. As long as I don't hear rumors of the S21 folding my laundry...
Sent from my SM-G950U using XDA Labs
I really want to get this phone. But I gotta say I'm a little disappointed with the news being reported today that Samsung is sticking with the Exynos 990 (note the rumored Exynos 992) again for international models, while the US, Japan, China, etc get the Snapdragon 865+. There was already about a 20% difference in power between the Exynos 990 and the regular Snapdragon 865 with the S20 models, now that gap will likely be larger.
Don't get me wrong, I think I will still get the Note 20 Ultra as I'm a huge fan of the Note series and I don't think I can wait another year to upgrade from my Note 8. I just wish I wasn't going to get an inferior processor for the same high price as others are paying for the Snapdragon variant.
I'd be interested to hear what others here think about this.

I use a case, so it won't bother me much at all.
I also hope there will be some sort of pre-purchase offer, for example a refund if you send your old device back maybe, like they did for the Note9.

the ONLY reason whoould be that Samsung will again charge us the same money for Exynos chipset eventhough South Korea, China, US and Canada will get Snapdragon 865+ which would be with 30% more powerful and more power efficient.
This means approx. 3hrs SoT more for the Snapdragon 865+ ..
And Samsung it makes it even more difficult if we will buy Snapdragon 865+ note 20 Ultra from US or somewhere else, because in EU they are not supporting warranty for the Snapdragon devices..and they neither do service where customer pays money because they don;t have the spare parts..which is awful..

And Samsung it makes it even more difficult if we will buy Snapdragon 865+ note 20 Ultra from US or somewhere else, because in EU they are not supporting warranty for the Snapdragon devices..and they neither do service where customer pays money because they don;t have the spare parts..which is awful..

I feel the same. But I'm also quite conflicted on this for another reason.
Snapdragon phones are locked down, usually they can’t be rooted, and users can’t flash custom recoveries/ROMs.
There are of course exceptions to this but the Exynos variants are definitely better for development purposes.
Now for the first 2 years that probably won't bother me as the stock software would be fine. But once Samsung no longer provides OS updates it's really nice to be able to run custom ROMs.
If only we could get an Exynos device with comparable performance to Snapdragon.

Exynos 992 on 6nm or 5nm with arm x78 architecture is the best soution as of now for Note 20 Utra
If Samsung does a really strong trade in offer (I have a Note 9) to get the price reasonable, and ideally a throw in offer like the new ear buds, I'm in. Multiple Note owner (had the Note 4, 7 and 9) and really looking forward to a camera with a real zoom and better battery life. Looks like a winner!
Note 20 Ultra Colors
Does anyone have a link or list of what the Note 20 Ultra colors will actually be? Thanks in advance.

I read somewhere the 3 colors for the Ultra will be that new copper color, then black and white.
One with Exynos 990 & the other one with SD865+, Samsung will STILL find them to be equally performing..
And a lot will believe it too.
I went from a Note 10+ to a Oppo Find X2 Pro instead of waiting for the Note 20 series, simply for the fact that every leak was pointing to European users being stuck with a Exynos 990 & I don't regret my decision at all, Samsung themselves are so blind they that continue to argue that the Exynos 990 is on the same level as the Snapdragon 865/+, it's ridiculous and from a consumer point of view, unacceptable, we're paying the same premium price but for a worse equipped device.
Many argue that it's only noticeable in benchmarks or on paper etc. But it isn't, it affects camera performance, camera quality, gaming performance, thermal performance, app fluidity, all the important parts of a smartphone experience, Snapdragon is far far ahead.
Sorry for the rant but it's just frustrating, hopefully one day Samsung will listen, in the meantime I'll enjoy my Snapdragon equipped Oppo :good:
