Trying to unlock bootloader -- Can't register on Huawei website! - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

I'm following this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/root-kiw-l24-usa-kiwi-t3305190
I can't register on the website because it's taking a really really long time to load the website. I've tried different browser with the same result... Can someone let me borrow their account/ do it for me so I can get my unlock code?

Same issue for me since Wed last week! I am beginning to think that $200 just doesn't buy as much company support as $600 does.... Will probably sell the device if I can't get the bootloader unlocked soon.

I am having no issues loading the sites.

U might check any antivirus program u might have on our comp or firewalls

Log in and try to go to unlock bootloader link. I get server busy error.

Heads up guys I just logged in and was able to receive my code. Looks like site is back up. I have been trying the last 4 days with no luck also. Today was the day though!! Hurry before it is down again!

Holy Cow! It worked! If you ever want to flash custom ROMs do this now before the site goes down again.

This has been happening since the day the phones came out. The good thing is that you only have to unlock one time. After a month with this phone, I am very happy with it. So don't let the unlock website ruin the phone for you. The rumor is that they run their website with hamsters, they probably tire easily. Small price to pay for such a cheap phone with such good specs.
I like the fact that Huawei has gone out of their way to tell developers how to unlock things and mess with things. Even one of their company reps has posted several times that he will give advice for those making mods.

Hello,
I had problems with the website as well - registering was fine, but the unlock part was always "busy".
I got my code by using the chinese part of the site - horribly slow, but it works.

I had to use the Chinese pages as well, but they worked.

Its been more than 32 days since I have bought my KIW-L22 (Indian version). I had no luck with site even though I used both IMEI numbers. Every time I do it, 14 days message appears. Its been more than 32 days and getting frustrated with it.

Hello, that won't do it, only the unlock does.

Unlocking the bootloader won't prevent OTA updates.
But custom recovery, like TWRP will. You will have to go back to stock before installing updates.

I had to give up and use the unofficial process. I detailed it here - http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/...our-honor-5x-official-and-unofficial-methods/

Not sure, if it's the same issue, but I think everyone has been misinterpreting the 14 days warning. What it says is the ID "has not been used on the phone for more than 14 days." While most people have understood that to mean "you have to have used the phone for 14 days," what I discovered it probably actually meant was "The ID you put in here has not been used on this phone for over 14 days" or, in my case "has never been used on this phone." I think the hard stop is trying to prevent granting unlock codes to inactive users, not new users. The second part of the equation is that the ID with which you log in has to be in some way tied to your phone. I had tried to log in with Facebook because my email registration had screwed up. I was getting that error because I hadn't used that Facebook account on my phone. So I downloaded the Facebook app, logged in with my account, and tried again. This time it worked!
TL;DR: Make sure you log into Huawei site using an ID (phone number, email address) that is actively tied to some account on your phone, be it Google, Facebook, etc, and you should get past the 14 days error.

I have created Huawei account using my yahoo email
Have installed Facebook app and login using the same yahoo email
Have installed yahoo mail app with same yahoo email
I still see the message
"The Huawei ID used to apply for the unlock code has not been used on the device for more than 14 days."
I was thinking of that in the same was as you @ultimahwhat thought, in previous two days in have installed almost every app published by Huawei and login using the same Huawei account by thinking it may identify my ID as "used in the device" still no luck.
Even I reset my phone to see if I missed something in initial setup like if I have skipped any Huawei login process in the setup process, but there is no such step in the initial setup.
So actually very disappointed and reall have no idea of what they say.
Feel like I would never buy any Huawei device again and never recommend Huawei to anyone.
This is gonna be my first and last Huawei device.
Dear @wimbet
Can you please explain what Huawei actually mean by that 14 days message and what Huawei expect user to perform for obtaining the unlock code as there is a big confusion in this matter?
I am very thankful for any information.

how many people would be unlocking their phones?! dont you think we would have seen a GIANT influx in noobs
I've been trying to unlock bootloader on my Rezound I got yesterday, since about 10p last night Eastern.
Still no go. It's actually, really pissing me off. We shouldn't have to go thru their website to get this done.
I wish the people who are here on the forums would release the S-OFF stuff they've discovered.

I was about to do it last night and decided not to yet cuz I was gonna try CleanTool (which no longer works....) But I held off and today all I can get is "We are sorry, but this section of site is temporarily closed."
same here as well
Site returns several errors on various stages of the walkthrough for me currently.
1. Typical access throttle message "you have exceeded the page load frequency" on either HTCDEV.com or on stage 1 or 2 of the unlock guide, which to remedy this I have to release/renew my external IP just to get back to htcdev.com
2. Receive blank white screen on stage one or two of the guide (If i even get to that point).
Has anyone found a maintenance log or down-time expectancy at all?
UPDATE!!
I got in!! it said token submitted!! still no email though. Waiting Patiently....
Works using Firefox. Dont use Chrome. That's what was wrong for me as far as i can tell.
sumit my token and WHERE IS MY DAMN EMAIL..been waiting since the damn morning only day off today to unlock the phone damn!
This is seriously so bloody frustrating, got my phone yesterday and I'm not going to start using it until I can unlock it, because I'll need to wipe it after doing so. I don't suppose there's any other way to generate a token?
Probably dumb suggestion since I am sure you checked, but check spam folder.

Frustrating. Just picked up my Rezound a few hours ago and I am getting to the same point of submitting my token and after a long delay it says the site is down for maintenance. Not a good first impression!
I'm also in the same boat of not wanting to use the phone until it's unlocked because it will end up being formatted.

yeah sadly its ip based not program i got the token accepted thing like 5 times. still no email. went from a locked down Droid x2 to an un-unlockable rezound (
Yep, same here now. Finally got it to go through once, but no email. Called HTC, got a fairly unfriendly CS rep that said "web sites go down from time to time for maintenance and it will be back up when they're done". I asked her if she was going to let anyone know and she said yes, but I doubt she will.

Called back because of how unpleasant the first lady was. Got a guy that was a lot more helpful. He said they are a completely separate entity from the dev side and that the only contact info they have is an email, but that he would fire one off. He also suggested everyone that is having a problem submit feedback through the link on the dev website stating that the token submission is broken and either throwing the maintenance error or saying it's sending an email but still isn't. I guess that's the best we can do right now.

[Q] Is anyone else experiencing problems with HTC dev emails?

Ive been trying the past few days to root my HTC evo v 3d on VM, but cant get the unlockcode.bin from them. It says that the token was submitted succesfully but when I check my email theres nothing. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? and if its just me could someone get the ulock code.bin and send it to me? my token is

Unfortunately you cannot get another persons unlockcode.bin as these keys are unique to each phone. (As far as i know) If someone knows any different please shed some light on this. Now I got some good news and bad news. Good news is that it isn't you. Bad news is that there's issues with the dev site. Users have reported that it takes a long time to get their unlock codes. Unfortunately there's no way around this. Keep ttrying. Eventually it'll go through. Good luck.

Alright, thanks for the update and info. I will keep trying!
Clear the cookies and cache of you internet browser, And try again. It usually helped me with the site.
After I had my phone in for repair yesterday, I had to unlock the bootloader all over again. I went to HTC DEV and put in my code.
I'm still waiting on the emails. I tried about 7 times, attempting to get a new unlock_bin each time, and still have not gotten 1 email. I think they are experiencing a problem with their mail server. It wasn't in my junk mail or anything.
Try again later today, it may have corrected itself. I found an old unlock_bin that worked for me from a previous unlock.

Whatsapp Virus spreading?

Hello everyone,
I might have a big problem.
This morning I booted my HTC One M7 as usual, and when it finished booting it opened a browser tap with a fake whatsapp update. I closed the browser immediately, and five minutes after this, the exact same thing happened. I started thinking how this could happend, and honestly I have no clue. All my apps are from the play store, and I only download documents for school. I haven't even downloaded a new app in the last week, however 15+ of my apps aren't up to date.
I scanned my phone with malwarebytes and it couldn't find anything. I rebooted my phone after the scan, and the problem seems to be gone. I was telling this story to a friend of mine this afternoon, and my mother said that she experienced the same thing, just a couple hours before I experienced it. After further investigation, it wasn't exactly the same. When she opened whatsapp, it asked her to do a weekly back-up of her chats. At first, she closed whatsapp, but when it appeared again, she clicked yes. She wasn't very clear about this, so I don't know if it was a fake menu, or the real deal. I have also scanned her Moto g (2013), and it found no malware.
I don't know if this could be harmfull. Especially because my parents use their phones for mobile banking.
This is a screenshot of my HTC
It could easily have been done through whatsapp. Part of the reason most people have stopped using it. Viruses run rampant I'm just about all of Facebook apps. And no anti virus will find them as they are vastly different then normal viruses.

Yeah I heard alot of people in Europe use it alot, here in the states almost no one uses it really except for kids. Most have moved to hangouts.
If I was you I would completely back up the device and then wipe everything and reflash the device.
Things like this will not be picked up by so called virus scanners.
I'am afraid that it is something like ShiftyBug (https://blog.lookout.com/blog/2015/11/04/trojanized-adware/). In the article it says that you have to install apps from third parties, but I have almost never done that. I have downloaded popcorntime in the past, but I have deletet it almost 6 months ago.
I'm afraid that if I reflash my device, that it will come back fairly soon. Is it possible that it has spread over my wifi network? Because of the fact that my mother got something similar on the same day.
But how do I know for sure that it is a virus? After I restarted my phone (12 hours ago), it hasn't shown up yet. Am I worried for nothing, or is there a big chances that I'm infected?
Thank you for all your replies!

The key word there is almost. If you reflash the device and it comes back then it maybe something that someopne else downloaded and was shared through your network. As you said your mother also saw it so I would go through her phone as well.
There are many apps out there that do this that are in the play store. So it is all a matter of being careful.
There is a chance. If it is big or not depends on how you use your device. It could also have come from a website someone visited. Im not saying you did but many porn sites are set to infect devices when they visit them.
If it was me. I would just start from scratch with each device and make sure that all the things installed are legit.
You could also run a logcat and try to reproduce it. That would tell you what is causing it.
Doesn't seem dangerous.

Then you have not been paying attention. Any browser pop that tells you to update an app is 99% an infected apk. It is a common practice for those that take apks and re-package them with malware
After reading more i must admit you are right.... My bad:good:
So I have to flash my phone, aren't there any other options? And if not, how do I reflash The HTC firmware to my phone?
Should I make a back-up before doing this, won't the malware spread again if I instal the back-up on my phone?
Thanks again!
EDIT:
Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to reproduce the problem.
I still haven't been able to reproduce the pop-up.
I do propably know where the problem came from, a friend of mine sent me a older version of soundcloud (the new one can't cache music). I installed that app, decided that it was to old for me and deleted it. The malware must have spread right after the first use. I'm planning on flashing my phone inthe weekend.
EDIT: I can reprodce the pop-up! It's linked to opening the app 'night mode', this app was downloaded in the official play store 2 years ago. Since then it hasn't got a lot of updates though.
Hey,
Time for a little update.
Last weekend, I contacted HTC's customer support due to the fact that I couldn't find my software version. They told me that I should execute a RUU, but they couldn't find the right version, so I had to contact the Dutch customer support (I didn't do this in the first place because the Dutch customer support wasn't open in the weekend).
The next monday (23-11) I contacted the Dutch customer support and asked them for the ROM, and unfortunately due to the regulations they don't publish the ROM's. However, they told me to do a factory reset and that should solve the issue. Unfortunately, it didn't. After the reset, I now get a different Whatsapp pop-up once or twice a day. The pop-up isn't connected to opening an app, like it was before the reset.
A friend of mine experienced the same problem this week on his new Moto X. All the other phones in my home network don't have this problem.
I hope someone will be able to help me!
Thanks in advance!

Depending on the malware a factory reset will not remove it. In fact most malware cant be removed that way. You have to flash the whole device to get rid of it.

In my opinion after starting all over again as you've already been told, you should do all that you did before and monitor each step with patience and concentration to actually understand what's behind this... This may help out

As he said. Here is what I would do if I was in your place. Anyone got any extra steps to add feel free to chime in. This would kinda suck for a bit.
You will need a custom recovery. And a bit of time to set up
1. Take everything off device.
2. Format full device in recovery. Not factory reset. Format system, data, internal storage and both caches.
3. Flash complete stock firmware.
4. Get root before rebooting
5. Reboot, do not connect to wifi during set up. Do not restore anything.
6. Get Catlog from the play store and run it.
7. Then continue set up. Wifi and ect. Scan backed up files with a pc virus scan but only return what you really need.
8. When restoring from TIBU install apps fresh from the market and restore data only to apps. (sucks I know but only way to be sure) make sure to delete old back and redo.
Then monitor catlog. This will tell you everything going on. You would be able to figure it out.

Problem getting bootloader unlock code

First, I try to log in with my usual Huawei ID. It doesn't allow me. I try to get my password back, they send me an email in Chinese with a link to restore my password, I click on that link and the web does not exist.
Then I created a new account. I finally logged in! But, when I was typing my phone information (IMEI, serial number, etc) and when I finally clicked on the submit code buton, it said the following:
The Huawei ID used to apply for the unlock code has not been used on the device for more than 14 days.
Any ideas with that?
Hi,
I can tell you I tried during months on the website and always got the same error code as you. Then I used DC unlocked, it cost me 7€ I think and I got the code in 4 minutes. It saved me a lot of time, so don't hesitate. Please have a look at a tutorial where they talk about the official and unofficial method. That's the unofficial method which works great.
++
never again huawei!,because I have to pay to have the code!??????? , ****!
To pay 7€? Are you kidding me? For a phone that you got at least 50€ less expensive versus the competitors...

This means that the registration on Huawei website must be "old" at least 14 days. If you can wait 14 days, you will can get your unlock code without further problems.
This doesn't means that I agree with Huawei statements.
Hope this can help you.
I waited 60 days , I think are sufficient....

Certainly, a problem is occurring. I'm reporting mine experience that was positive, at 15th day I was able to generate the code and next to unlock the phone.
The message was still the same ?
yes,the message is alwais the same

ciao
Hi,
I can tell you for sure you will never get the unlock code from the huawei website. I tried for 4 months i think. I tried with my huawei account linked to facebook, i tried with a new user account not linked to facebook, I alsways made sude the huawei ID was connected on the phone, I got in contact with Huawei club also which only warned me about the risks of rooting the phone, etc.
I still don't figure out why it worked for some and why not for some others, but paying 4 or 7€ definitely saved me a lot of additional headaches.

Hey guys, thank you for your comments, I tried yesterday in Huawei's website and it worked, I'm not sure I will use it yet, but I've noted it just in case^^

Unlocking bootloader immediately

Hi all!
I got this nice phone yesterday. I made a Mi account about 3 month ago, hoping that when i get the phone i can unlock it immediately. Sadly, MiFlash Unlock said that "You need to wait 360 hours..." etc.
But i found a way that could unlock immediately. :good:
- First of all, you need to download latest MiFlash Unlock. Get it here. (You need to update it in the app itself, just to be sure you have the latest version.)
- Sign in, Install latest drivers, connect Mi account & device etc.
- Go for unlocking, to the point where it says "You need to wait..."
Now the fun part:
I was reading guides and stuff in this forum, where i found a thread about 360 hours of waiting. There was a comment by @arddy1 (Thank you) which solved this issue.
- Download this MiFlash Unlock tool (This is an older version.)
- Sign in, go for unlocking (It'll still wipe everything so make backups)
- Reboot
- Enjoy
It's not 100% working but you can give it a try.
Hope i helped! Happy flashing :good:
So you're able to unlock instantly with that mi unlock right? Are you sure you have not waited 360h before?
In my case, that mi unlock version didnt make me unlock immediately, but to skip additional waiting hours. I still need to wait 360h before can unlocking.
I heard some old or admin mi account can unlock instantly. In your case, I dont know how it works. For normal account, normally you need to wait 360h on whatever any mi unlock version.

How old is your Mi account? Maybe it's the cause of it.
I have a xiaomi account for some years now, this unlcoker tool did not change the wait time.

Interesting... Then it could be random. :/
Will try later.
Edit: it says binding time is too short.
latest unlock tool says 95 hours left.
I tried this version too, still have to wait 360 hours. You were lucky!

I wonder how it worked for me :|
according to my theoretical & practical research old tricks like using old miflash, old account do not work. i used also this version with veteran account and it didn't decrease waiting time by a nanosecond. the only trick still working is when xiaomi gives you extra ~3 days to wait as a bonus for not using the device (who would use non-rooted device?), you can skip it with old miflash.

I've ordered one, should be here Saturday. Given that, I'm reading where you basically have to use the device during that 15 days? I'd honestly prefer not to until I can set it up how I prefer, from what you gather, using the old version will allow that?

Good attitude. I'm strict too and i didn't use the device at all, and also borrowed SIM card for the registration process. So i got penalty 3 extra days for not providing Spyaomi enough of profiling data I can imagine excited sheep, having privacy in mind as last priority, will use the phone most actively during the first days, which is perfect for them.
You don't need to do it. After 15 days, get a bail from extra jail with old miflash. Just make sure to keep the account, i switched, and the countdown started over. After oem unlock, you can delete the account from phone, then delete it from the xiaomi website. Bye bye:victory:

Great. That's what I'll do then.
This method is not working for me either, waiting time is around 347 hours, let xiaomi use my data for that time... lolz
Did you all connect your Mi accounts before unlocking?
