Galaxy View Screen Flickering : Running Apps Crash - Galaxy View Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

During the development and testing of an apk i have noticed that Samsung Galxy view is quite unstable and if i leave an app running including my own app then it just crash. It seems like screen flickering keeps going on. Is there a known solution to this ?
There is no firmware fix or any thing else that is publicly available. I have noticed that similar issues were present on previous samsung products as well. Any one who experienced this and found a work around please share.

[Q] Anyone having these screen issues?

There are some problems with rendering, I think. The problems started with ICS so I think Asus delivered a buggy product.
Here is a problem with the left side of the screen while using FireFox:
And here is some glitching while just using Andoid ICS:
Yeah, I had the same issue, but I saw in another post that this can be fixed by rooting and running SetCPU, and setting the scaling mood to "Performance". Ever since I did that, I no longer have the problem. I'll search for the other thread and post a link here when I find it.

Flickering screen

I still have the flickering screen problem after .14update. Does anyone have the problem? I am wondering if Asus will fix this problem with future update...The flickering screen is really annoying to me..
Edit: Because of flickering, I no longer use ezpdf reader and switched to "My Library". Then flickering occurred when it was just standing by....

I didn't see this issue until after I upgraded to ICS... I only see it when I use the live wallpaper... lets hope our friend Gary and Asus can figure this out an fix the problem.
Just wait for the custom roms that will come out since the bootloader unlock is out. The Dev's will get all the issues ironed out and make this a great tablet for sure.

have you been able to isolate what applications or events trigger the screen flickering?
it is my belief that the screen flickering issues are caused by bugs in the video drivers. certain applications seem to be causing memory corruption of some sort that leads to this flickering. in my case i am seeing specific applications trigger the issue, and a reboot always fixes it. i am quite sure this is not a hardware problem given those characteristics.
i'm thinking that the best way to address this is to identify some easily reproducible steps, provide this info to Gary and hope this gets passed on to asus/nvidia engineers so that they can identify and fix the bugs.
i rarely seen the issue before the last update, now its constantly, i just did a fresh boot and the very first 10 seconds was the screen flickering.. Pretty annoying i might add. Bcokas here

The only time I see Flickering Screen seems to be using Firefox Browser and I think the App itself causing most if not all the problem.

+1 i have also seen firefox trigger the flickering multiple times
After the ICS update I get horrible flickering, screen tearing, and artifacting in the youtube app in power save mode. Like to the point where it will lock up, turn off and restart itself. Interestingly enough tho, that does not happen in balanced mode or performance mode. Any idea as too why?

Once you used the customer rom, the warranty on your prime will be forfeited. At that time, flickering or not, you have to pay to fix that. Be careful when you do that.

I read somewhere that the screen refresh rate is dropped to 35Hz when in power saving mode. Perhaps that's why?
I have ICS .11 and only have a Flickering Screen when i open the Youtube app and this almost every time..

after reading the other thread, i have found out that the asus weather widget is kinda associated with the flickering. i also see this flickering using ezpdf reader and youtube app and brower. The brower and the pdf reader ones flashes more quickly than the ones caused by the widgets
Just another data point, I see flickering and strange artifacting all the time whenever I run Wyse Pocket Cloud.
YouTube flickers for me.

Temp solution is to turn on ips+ and put brightness to the lowest to save your eyes from blinding lol...
Could this be a .14 issue?
I have a lot of flickering and apps disappear / reappear as apps open and close.
It gets very annoying.
A restart fixes it for a few minutes but then it starts again.
.13 didn't have this issues.

It's an issue with every single update, depending on who you are
Every update so far has fixed some peoples' issues and introduced those same issues to people who previously did not have them.
msg gary?
I just updated my prime to .15 but the flickering still continues... I am wondering if anyone can PM Gary or tell me how to personal message him. I just become a xda member few days ago..so I am not sure how to do it.
Just updated to .15 and still see flickering and artifacts. This looks like driver issue. I had similiar problem on my laptop caused by drivers. Btw i notice so far its flickering on Firefox, YouTube and that Pinball game from nvidia tegra zone ( on game after i closed youtube, before it was ok)
Using the YouTube app is the best way I can reproduce it on mine:

[Q] Strange green screen camera bug/crash?

I've made this thread to mainly know if this could be a simple random software crash issue... What worries me most is if it could be the start of an hardware failure.
I have an S3 I9300 since October and there were 2 times where my back-facing camera seemed to crash into a green screen, both in apps.
1st crash happened in MixBooth last month, the camera preview screen was fully green. Exiting the program and opening the official camera app seemed to fix it.
2nd crash, today, happened in Barcode Scanner. The camera preview screen turned green, with some flickering lighter-green lines. It also completely froze the device and I had to force shutdown by holding the power button.
Has yet to happen in the camera app itself, but I'm worried if it's for certain an hardware issue related to internal connections or otherwise.
Unless these happen with software glitches/crashes as well? I found a person showcasing a similar green-screen issue on the S3 (can't post link so Google for "Android Camera Preview is incorrect on Samsung Galaxy S3"). It's not quite the same green pattern, though it seems a problem encountered while developing an app that uses the camera.
Many thanks for any answer, even if it's just an opinion or conjecture.

No, didn't install ExynosAbuse or anything that gains access to root.
Green Screen in camera
I have had the same issue happen to me a few minutes ago.
I was using the stock camera app and it just suddenly froze onto a green screen.
I have owned my galaxy s3 for less that 24 hours so I am hoping this isn't a recurring problem.
Have you figured out if it was just a software bug?
Not completely sure, but it has yet to happen again... I'd guess if it was hardware its frequency would increase...
Though I did find a thread from 2010 over at the androidforums in regards to a green camera crash on the Samsung Transform that would fix itself with a reboot (see "Support Camera problems?"), so I guess in that case it could be a software crash similar to the ones we just had.
Intresting. I suppose it is just software..
We will be getting a 4.1.2 update pretty soon and that should will iron out any small bugs such as the camera issue we are having.

got to solve it ... for while
Dear all,
I believe that got to fix this issue - had downloaded Ad Detector software from Google Play, and had noticed that there were 29 apps with AdMob plugin on it - had deleted some of the infected software and the camera is now working?
If you have free software installed in your mobile, try to delete it and check it if your mobile camera is working again ...

[Q] Chrome starts with black screen

Hi everyone,
I have tried to search for a solution to my problem but I haven't been very successful. If anyone knows of links to possible resolutions to my problem, please reply with them.
I have an issue with the chrome browser starting with a completely black screen. At first I thought it was only my last phone (RAZR HD), but the problem is also present on my Verizon Note 3. If it were just an issue on a single phone, I'd probably ask in specific phone forums, but it's happened on two different phones now.
I'm presuming that the problem might be caused by an app I'm using, but the problem is intermittent so I can't tell if the issue subsides when I uninstall certain apps.
Any help or insight in this issue is appreciated.
Thanks
I have the same issue. Seems in my case its ANY 4.3 rom. It started after an update to Chrome around the fifteenth or so of November. It'll work but if I change tabs or switch apps it will turn black when resuming. Older versions of Chrome don't have the problem. I've gone back to a 4.2.2 root box rom with no problems.

The latest update to chrome doesn't render the pages immediately.
This would most likely be to open chrome faster.
However, users are reporting that they don't get past a black screen.
This is common.
Go complain to google devs though, not here. (The bug tracker they have)
Right on. Will do. Not so much complaining as just sharing with the OP. Thanks for letting us know its very common. My searches have not returned much information at all. Including Google searches and searches here and on XDA.
Thanks again!

I see. My RAZR HD was still on 4.1.2 and this was an issue there too. Thanks for the information.
Side note: I'm glad I wasn't the only person having difficulty searching on this subject.
sorry for the huge bump but if anyone was wondering my dpi was 350 and this issue stated when my Rom was changed to a 350 DPI. I used xposed and App Settings to change the DPI of chrome to 480 and no more black screens
EDIT(2 hours later):Nope it just came back.

Touch screen lagging on changing direction

Hello. Few days ago I've got Huawei M5 10
And I've found strange behavior of the touch screen.
Long story short :
If you slowly move finger in one direction, and then change the direction, touch screen doesnt detect changing of direction and doesn't follow the finger. It waits for 10-15 (or more) pixels and only after that it places touch point into correct position.
I wanted to add video but XDA prohibits me
Its not a problem in regular work, but its annoying in games because you can't take aim in any shooters.
Do you have the same?
I haven't gamed much on my 8.4", but when new I initially experienced some buggy scrolling, possibly similar to what you describe, inside web browsers and what not.
If you are experiencing the same, I recommend:
Upgrading to the latest available OTA. (I actually hate upgrading software, but this was forced o me after a boot loop)
Disable/Delete Chrome (so it doesn't take over for Android System Webview)
Uninstall any updates to Android System Webview (after a reset, some buggy behavior returned for me immediately after updating Webview)
There are other things you can do if rooted. But those were the big things that seemed to fix touchscreen behavior for me. fwiw I can't discount that my upgrade to B153 may have helped, but I suspect that Chrome/Webview was the issue all along.
Thanks for answering
I've already updated Android and even tried to play with screen resolution (thought that because of huge resolutions touchscreens have this problem)
I can't paste link to YouTube but you can find the video named 'huawei medipad m5 10 screen lagging?'
I show there a bug.
Notice that in the name of video Mediapad replaced with Medipad. It's okay.
I'm having the same problem as you but i am pretty sure this is a software issue... But it doesn't bother me much as I use my tablet more for work than games
Hi, did anyone find a fix for this problem?
I don't have this problem on my 8.4. I play alot of first person shooters.
