[Q] Is the T-Mo version carrier-locked? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I know that the bootloader on this phone is locked (although there seems to be a workaround in development). Does anyone know whether the T-Mo version of the G5 is locked to the T-Mo network?

I believe it's normal practice for T-Mobile to unlock the phone once it's been paid for. My back up grand prime even has a app for this.

Be careful, though. It sounds like T-Mobile has quite a few requirements for unlocking, with which a lot of people are displeased. I'm on AT&T and considered buying the T-Mobile version in full and requesting an unlock code, but it sounds like they won't give you a code unless you have an active T-Mobile account/phone plan and have used the phone on the account for several days (claims range from a couple to 40 days). T-Mobile CLAIMS it's because they have to register the imei of the phone on their system before they can unlock it. I think it's a load of crap, because with AT&T, all you have to do is pay in full and send them the imei number. I don't see why T-Mobile should be different, but it seems to be.

Maybe I'd just be better off waiting and paying the same price for an unlocked phone through B&H?

I think that's what I'm probably going to do. Just fingers crossed its bootloader will be as easy to unlock as T-Mobile's! I don't really need an unlocked bootloader, but I definitely need root. And with Marshmallow requiring an unlocked bootloader just for root, this is now non-negotiable for me.

Thank you very much! Still waiting for my I9305 to be shipped, and it's probably going to be locked too. Going to travel in March 2013, so I'm glad to hear it can be unlocked already.
Had to cut my Three SIM down to micro sim size but thats no big deal when the outcome is such a good phone.
Where did you get the phone from in the UK?
also what speeds are you getting with 4G in the UK?
I got the phone from T-Mobile shop in manchester. The EE 4G service hasn't been rolled out nationwide yet so currently still just on 3G until the end of the month.
Will be great to see what the UK can get

(AT&T) Google Wallet "Tap to pay" Working?

I didn't see a post anywhere about this,if so please remove.
I use Google Wallet all the time in conjunction with the Google MasterCard. I've had devices in the past that were able to use tap and pay (NFC) , with the need of root. My AT&T M8 is not rooted and tap and pay is working fine.
I'm sure this will be patched soon with a firmware update, being that AT&T is pushing ISIS and always blocked Google Wallet from being used.
Can anyone else confirm this or am I the only one ? Also, I tested a payment just now at McDonald's without any problems.

I think AT&T is dropping the exclusivity to Isis. When my GS4 updated to Kit Kat, Google tap to pay magically started working.

Yet Tap to pay has been stripped out of the AT&T and T-Mobile LG G2.

Same with the One M7, once updated to 4.4 I had an option to pick google wallet or isis.

That doesn't mean it's their doing. If it was their doing then other devices that were upgraded to 4.4.2 would have been removed but the likes of the M7, and Moto X were not. So there is no clear cut stating who took it out or not.
Google wallet has been working fine for me as well.

[Q] Cannot make calls with SII I9100

Good morning guys (i am writing from Sydney so for someone good afternoon),
i bought a second hand phone on gumtree due by the end of my other phone and i am having some issues.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy SII I9100 seems to be brand new even still the plastic cover on the screen, by the way i flashed the phone with the NeatRom
The phone is working 100% fine the only thing that i can't do is calling someone
I have signal on the network and i can even go online using my phone, no wifi, but sadly i cannot make outgoing calls.
I tried loading other ROMS but same problem and i found the NeatRom the more reliable and fast for my experience so i decided to go back in to this.
Now guys i need your help, i could buy a new phone and throw this one away but I like challenge and i would like to get the problem fix.
I notice that many users have the same issue and they reckon could be some application loaded into the phone.
Any idea or suggestion?
I was thinking to load back the Rom stock version?
What do you think?
Could be that the phone has been stolen and locked by the provider (VODAFONEAU) ? in this case what i should do?change provider?change IMEI?
I checked the IMEI on the back and is the same that you get if you query the phone with *#06#
I attached few screenshot taken with the phone to better show the issue, if you notice in the last one i tried to call and i get back a message from the system "we currenlty accept only US number". so wierd...
Thanks in advance to all for the attention paid to help me.

1) You absolutely cannot change IMEI. Any further discussion of this will see your thread locked (it's illegal).
2) First thing you need to do is contact your carrier in the first instance & ask if it has indeed been IMEI locked (all carriers can see this in Australia, once it's locked on one network, it's locked on everyone's). If you have no joy there, then you contact Vodafone & ask the same question (I'd be very surprised if you carrier doesn't answer this one way or another though.
If it is IMEI barred, you won't be getting it unbarred. These things don't normally happen.
3) It may only be network locked by Vodafone rather than IMEI locked. Again, Vodafone will be able to confirm if this is the case/not.
Anything else troubleshooting-wise is a waste of time until you do the above; if it's IMEI barred you put one down to experience & chuck it away, if it's network locked Vodafone will possibly give you an unlock code for free.
Edit - Also, delete the screenshot which shows your IMEI. Last thing you need if it is just a simple case of a network lock that you can get fixed is for someone to see your IMEI & decide to use it for nefarious purposes (easily done). If this happens, your IMEI absolutely will end up barred & the phone useless.
Good explanation above, ask the one who.sold ypu this phone, he might have sold you a barred phone and claimed from insurance.
Hope it is not the case, but do check
Best of luck

LG V10 DEMO (t-mobile) h901bk

Hello,
I need some help guys, so i'm looking into purchasing a LG V10 & I asked the seller to send me the imei just to make sure it's not blacklisted with t-mobile. The phone is clean, only problem I had was, beside the model number it says DEMO on the box. The seller said he won it through LG. Can a demo phone be unlocked & used as a normal phone or does it need to be rooted?
Thanks

I did & they weren't sure lol. Going to go to the store tomorrow and find out. Just wanted to check if someone else on here knew.
Demos don't carry warranty, and legally cannot be sold words from my business Rep.
Thanks for the info, does it still work as a regular phone or will it have to be rooted?
My business Rep says itll be fine, but can't be traded in/upgraded through tmo or warranty exchange.
Is the phone unused as a demo model? I sometimes see demo devices advertised for sale, and the ones that were on display in stores are always shown to have some severe screen burn-in from displaying the same graphics for so long. The also say that the demo mode needs to be deactivated, but I'm not sure how that's done.

Imho it's a risk. My G4 also came up clean on swappa as DEMOUNIT. 4 months plus using it as normal, no issues. YMMV
Thanks, i have verified it with tmobile and they advised a week ago these units were won in a competition and one rep won it as well. So he advised all were demo units. Only issue in having now is to make sure it will unlock. Tmobile has the device unlock app now

I have a demo one and it it was unlocked already I unlocked boot loader myself and rooted it but it's fully functioning in metro pcs right now
I have a close friend that works for T-Mobile. He won an Experia Z3 at a Christmas party last year that was a demo same as that V10. As others have said, the phone will not be warrantied in any way but will function exactly as any other V10. You'll be able to unlock and root just like any retail model.

Nope. What I have learned is that it is not treated as a T-Mobile phone and can't be unlocked. It isn't intended for commercial use but is fully functional as long as you have T-Mobile or a sister carrier.

This is the English translated version of the message (using google translate):
"We inform you that this Smartphone is disabled due to delay in the payment of the fees. Claro invites you to pay immediately so you can enjoy the Smartphone"
The problem is the phone was disabled due to non payment. Unfortunately no one can help you here, forum rules prohibit this. As an example the link below was the response from a moderator over a person how to unlock a financed phone (with a balance owed).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77825724&postcount=6
If this is your phone then you must pay your phone bill to get the phone re-enabled..
If you bought the phone and it was like this then you must contact the place of purchase to get a working replacement or your money back.
If the phone was purchased from a person who still owes money then have them bring the bill current or return the phone to them and get your money back.

This is incorrect. New phone or not, store bought or not and where you purchased/use it at doesn't matter. The device is disabled by the carrier, the message tells you why it is and what needs to be done to resolve it. In order for the device to be re-enabled the past due amount must be resolved.
Based on what you said you will have to have the store you purchased it from replace the device with one that is working. If they can not then get your money back from them if possible.
Even if what you say is true XDA forums doesn't allow this kind of discussion. We don't make the rules, we agreed to follow them when we registered for the forum.
