Really nice review.
I got some questions :
1) Is it possible to switch the capacitive buttons? What I mean is reversing the Back and Multitasking Buttons
2) Do you got issue with sync Google stuff (Agenda, Contacts, etc....)
3) Does the camera as good as 2015 Flagship? (Galaxy S6, LG G4)
I will try to get one 128G tomorrow :fingercrossed:

1) No unfortunately not
2) Yeah I couldn't sync my Google contacts, but I synced them then with my Xiaomi account instead and that works.
3) The camera IS pretty good and fast, I would say on the level with a S6. But people may have different opinions about it.

Are you sure? There is such option in Redmi Note 3.
Edit
From Arstechnica: "The buttons aren't labeled because you can swap the "back" and "recent" functionality in the software, a compromise between Samsung's "Recent, home, back" order and Google's "back, home, recent" order."

I have just checked it again. You can configure the buttons. But in the settings you can not set a "back" function for the left touch button.
From stock it is the recent button, and the settings for that one only allows "show recent apps tray" or "show menu". No back function is possible. So you can not put back on the left side.
The right button (which is stock back) you can not change at all, only for the long press on the back, you can choose "none", "show recent apps tray", "Launch assistant" or "Close current app".

Try this http://weigu.org/install-google-play-store-on-xiaomi-mi5-miui-7-1/
Btw. I have also now added a video in #1 of the Mi5 in BLACK and 10 games that I test on the device!

Hey, thanks a lot for the review.
I was wondering about how much free space you had when you got the phone.
Is there a lot of bloatware that can be easily removed?
I'm really considering buying this phone but in my country, India, they only sell the 32 gb model.
I'm not sure it'll be enough for me :/

can u show me yours mi5 temperature at cpuz? my emmc temp always at 57'C ,never went down..

can it play HEVC x265 1080p 10bit videos in HW/HW+ Mode with mxplayer?
and does it have artifacts or sttutters?

HP Pavillion X2 Troubles

Installed Remix and dual boot on my hard drive of my HP Pavilion x2 12-b020nr 12" Detachable Laptop with Intel Core M3, 4 GB RAM, 128GB SSD.
Loving the dual boot and having android on this thing. But I am having a few problems and I don't know if they are things I can update or install a driver or ?? And just know - I know Remix is new and I am not complaining but there are lots of smart folks here that know stuff - so I thought I'd ask.
1. The multi touchpad doesn't work at all. Just not recognized. I enabled some experimental feature to try and get it to go too. But still nothing.
2. During boot up at what I would call the grub screen - the touchscreen doesn't work. So I can't select what to boot into without the keyboard attached.
3. Weird graphic black circles through all the white spaces in apps or website screens depending on the size of the active screen. Really weird and hard to explain. I will try to get a screen shot or something.
4. The app LastPass doesn't work at all. I click open - it flashes like it is opening and then closes.
5. WiFi doesn't seem to autoconnect on boot up. I have to click on the icon - then it opens and recognizes my home router and connects... but it won't do it without clicking.
Really loving this project. Thanks in advance for any help!!
Here is a picture of the graphics weirdness

Also - I completely reinstalled Remix to the hard drive and it still has the same problems.
Any thoughts?
What's ur graphics card?
Graphics is: Intel HD Graphics 515.
Other specs just in case:
-Memory: 4 GB LPDDR3 SDRAM (onboard).
- Storage: 128GB solid-state drive.
- Processor: Intel Core m3-6Y30 Processor, Dual-Core (0.9 GHz up to 2.2 GHz, 4 MB cache).
Thanks in advance,
Wan
In case you are here with similar problems...
I tried Phoenix, CM13 for X86, Lineage 14.1 for X86 and here is what works/doesn't and my thoughts.
Phoenix
Works - wifi auto reconnects
Works - No black dots or circles scrambling the screen
Works - Lastpass
Works - Bluetooth
Works - Teamviewer
Works - Google Play Store
Not Working
Widgets
Touchpad
Can't force some apps to be less than full screen (pby app issue)
I tested this one the most and will probably get it back working. Having grub and EFI boot issues that I just can't figure out yet... but I will.
cm-x86_64-13.0-r1
Not Working
I had the black dots and swirls
Wifi reconnection issues
No google play store
BUT - it has widget support
lineageOS14.1_Unofficial-Alpha-x86_64-01032017
Not Working
I had the black dots and swirls
Wifi reconnection issues
No google play store
BUT - it has widget support
Okay - no hating on me - I know that the CM and Lineage ports are new and in development. They say they don't have the play store etc.
Anyway - I am working on getting my Phoneix install in grub - so feel free to post a link to EZ UEFI instructions since I seem to have messed something up...
Good Luck
Using remix os x64 on a x2 10-000np with no troubles at all except for sleep. After the preset time expires, it wont shutdown the screen and the touchscreen crashes as in stops responding to my fingers. Does anyone here knows how to fix this?

New update Verizon LG G6

Decided to check and what do you know, I have a 756mb update downloading now!! More to follow!
Installed it. July patch, camera update but still no native AR sticker support. Did add Super Bright Camera mode but the QR scanning option they mention at the Verizon page seems to be missing as well.

There's a toggle in the camera settings menu. Do you mean that you don't have that or that it doesn't work when switched on?
Superbright, yes. AR Stickers and QR Scanning, no options for it in settings unless it's really hidden.

What are AR stickers? The only option for QR scanning is ON or OFF in the camera settings menu. I just verified it works. When it recognizes a QR code, it shoots out a little banner notification to click and open the link.

I don't have anything related to QR scanning in my camera. No options at all.
https://www.xda-developers.com/arcore-for-all-google-augmented-reality/
It's Arcore is now supported on the G6 on Oreo but the camera doesn't show it.
We still have to use this
https://www.xda-developers.com/install-ar-stickers-galaxy-s9/ (which works perfectly but it's crazy to need to install gcam to use something the native camera supports.

Ah, I see. I thought you were suggesting that AR stickers was something that the update promised but didn't deliver. For QR option, are you using the stock camera? Here's the option on my phone:

yep. Using stock camera. I just don't have the option for it which is fine. I can use Google Lens for the rare occasion I need QR scanning.
And another update this weekend!! To version VS98820d. Android security patch level,Sept 1. I did not get to see how big it was or the install log.
And another update before 3 days (1/12/2018) To version VS98820e. Android security patch level, Nov. 1 ^_^
Waiting for Android 9 pie ; )

Enabling additional settings in the stock camera.

Enabling additional settings in the "standard" camera.
1. Using any file manager (for example, "Explorer"), go to the DCIM folder on the internal memory, then to the Camera folder .
2. Create a folder called Lab_options_visible .
Thank you.
Does anyone know what exactly does turning on the Internal Magic Tools do?
I can't tell a difference.
What does it do?

Doesn't seem to work. Did you just open the settings in the camera or is there an extra menu somewhere?

I can confirm that's working on pro version global
I find these useless tho
I've figured out that you have to use the built in file manager, don't know why.

Hello,
It is supposed to enable some internals tools to increase image quality.
Regards.
PD. At first attempt I failed because I created the new folder inside DCIM, but it should be in DCIM/Camera. @MacGuy2006 said it, but i forgot to read that part
Please tell me what is the option for Dual camera?

it's for touch focus timeout,
some other setting details :
MFNR => Multi-frame noise reduction
SR=> automatic scene optimization
Dual SAT => camera takes picture with dual camera and then combines them in one picture (every camera shoot's in her best optical range)
Anti banding option is i believe to remove bands caused from power lines (lights) and freq. in which they operate (60 Hz, 50 Hz or auto)
Confirming that this works with the Global update to Android 10.
There is a new option at the bottom, in Chinese. Does anyone know what it is?

Thank you, I think this was an old menu item. There is another Chinese item and that's the one that I'm wondering about.
Is there an option to simply save the preferences?
I always have to change back the flash to auto and change the slow motion back to 240 fps.
Hi! God some points!
1)Have some issues with focus on my camera after enable and disable those features. Now when i open the camera, it needs some time to focus, or not focus at all. Dont know if it has to do with those features.
2)Any idea in simple words what those options do, cause in reality i cant understand any difference.

Question Add Google Lens to Recent Button? Better use of Lens in One UI?

Hello,
I recently moved from Android One to One UI 5.1.
Mi A2 Lite to S23 Ultra
The recent button in One UI has only one option: Close All
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The recent button in Android One, however, has three options: Clear All, Lens, and Screenshot
And that Lens option is magic. Because in whatever application you are, you can use that to translate, search, ... in that screen.
Could we add this option to the recent button of the S23 Ultra?
Or is any workaround to run Google Lens on One UI such that we can use its abilities?
The only possible way I found was to take a screenshot and open it in Lens which is very annoying since I have to take a screenshot and delete it after say translating the text inside it.
I also have the same need, but there is really nothing I found.
Maybe you could try Bixby vision that is more integrated in the one UI
I loved this lens function on my pixel 6 A simple way to save photos without taking a screenshot. I miss this feature in Galaxy S23 Ultra :/
Highly desireable feature, I also moved from a pixel 7 pro and extensively used Google lens for copying text from pics & such and the smart select function on one ui is not nearly as good!

It's already installed but not integrated as in aosp roms. You have to take a screenshot and then go to lens and find that screenshot. Then you're able to translate or copy a text inside that photo.

You can share the screenshot with lens, it's faster
