New update Verizon LG G6 - Verizon LG G6 Questions & Answers

Decided to check and what do you know, I have a 756mb update downloading now!! More to follow!

Installed it. July patch, camera update but still no native AR sticker support. Did add Super Bright Camera mode but the QR scanning option they mention at the Verizon page seems to be missing as well.

There's a toggle in the camera settings menu. Do you mean that you don't have that or that it doesn't work when switched on?

Superbright, yes. AR Stickers and QR Scanning, no options for it in settings unless it's really hidden.

What are AR stickers? The only option for QR scanning is ON or OFF in the camera settings menu. I just verified it works. When it recognizes a QR code, it shoots out a little banner notification to click and open the link.

I don't have anything related to QR scanning in my camera. No options at all.
https://www.xda-developers.com/arcore-for-all-google-augmented-reality/
It's Arcore is now supported on the G6 on Oreo but the camera doesn't show it.
We still have to use this
https://www.xda-developers.com/install-ar-stickers-galaxy-s9/ (which works perfectly but it's crazy to need to install gcam to use something the native camera supports.

Ah, I see. I thought you were suggesting that AR stickers was something that the update promised but didn't deliver. For QR option, are you using the stock camera? Here's the option on my phone:

}

yep. Using stock camera. I just don't have the option for it which is fine. I can use Google Lens for the rare occasion I need QR scanning.

And another update this weekend!! To version VS98820d. Android security patch level,Sept 1. I did not get to see how big it was or the install log.

And another update before 3 days (1/12/2018) To version VS98820e. Android security patch level, Nov. 1 ^_^
Waiting for Android 9 pie ; )

Is there a stock oreo flushable link without pc for some reason my verizon g6 is still on 7.0

Today in verizon

Missing camera features in FW 9.0.0.146?

I just got the update for firmware 9.0.0.146, and I noticed that all the camera demos and videos of the camera app has that extra icon on the left side that looks like an eye. However, ever since I got the phone and even now with the latest firmware update I have never seen that icon appear in any of the camera modes. I have turned on Master AI as well but still no luck. What is that icon for and is that supposed to be there? Am I missing some features of the camera app?

Hey boss - perhaps I can add some insight.
I've got the same issue.
Can you confirm which version of the phone you have? Did you get the phone from a North American provider?

I have the retail version from Germany: DT.DEU 9.0.0.2 (LT.F01)
Thanks Chieftain,
I'm tracking a thread for missing North American features here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/how-to/list-features-confirmed-available-north-t3877691
I'd try an online chat on your regional Huawei support site to see if they can provide some insight.
Are you talking about the one in the top left of my screen shot that launches the picture shopping search thingy?

Yes that's the one indeed. Some of the demo videos I've seen also claim that you can also read barcodes with that. I've never seen that in my camera app since I bought it nor now that i got the firmware update.

It should be under hivision. Try turning it on in your settings. Then your camera should have an extra icon on the top left corner. It is hivision with QR scanner.
that's weird i can't find anything about HiVision in my phone. could it be locked because it is a "german phone"?
I've bought my phone from Vodafone in Germany.
Here's a Screenshot of it.
So it's definitely not the region.
It's at the top left corner.
Assuming that you didn't deactivate it or made any other changes, it should be there.
I'd say, just download a qr code reader from the playstore.
It'll be easier to open than the HiVision version.
Plus, the other HiVision functions aren't good at all anyway and you need to tap through them every time you want to access the QR Code reader.

that's interesting, i also have Vodafone Phone from Germany but do not see the QR option anywhere.
I don't really want to download QR reader app because i don't use it that much. but it's nice to have it somewhere without app is nice because if i ever need it i can just open it without needing to download anything. i wonder how i could disabled it.. just don't want to reset the whole phone to see if i get it back.

It might be a problem with the phone itself?
But I guess that it's a minor one.
I hope that someone can help you here without you having to reset your phone.
problem solved by activating AI Lens
had the same issue. solved it by enabling AI Lens app. after enabling AI Lens you should see a new icon on the top left corner in the camera app.

Privacy alert! - Xiaomi Silently Removed "Sensors off" function from Developer options from many phones- 12.0.4

Just had recently updated to latest December security patch last week, I found out that "Sensors off" - An option to turn off all sensors from Developer menu is removed. This is quite an interesting change by the company. I don't why would they remove such function? Barely any users would have been using it to begin with.
You can read more about this privacy friendly option that can disable all sensors with one toggle along with your camera here:
Sensors Off | Android Open Source Project
source.android.com
[Conspiration mode ON]
Maybe it's a request made to Xiaomi by the Chinese government to help crappy and unoptimized Tencent applications to more easily spy in background the phone activity?
Seriously, when you see what this governement is ready to do to track their people, I wouldn't be even surprised...
[Conspiration mode OFF]
That's why I don't like miui roms in general. I just don't really trust them. Yea, every rom via apps will spy on you, but now on stock locked miui you can't really do anything about it anymore.

Question Add Google Lens to Recent Button? Better use of Lens in One UI?

Hello,
I recently moved from Android One to One UI 5.1.
Mi A2 Lite to S23 Ultra
The recent button in One UI has only one option: Close All
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The recent button in Android One, however, has three options: Clear All, Lens, and Screenshot
And that Lens option is magic. Because in whatever application you are, you can use that to translate, search, ... in that screen.
Could we add this option to the recent button of the S23 Ultra?
Or is any workaround to run Google Lens on One UI such that we can use its abilities?
The only possible way I found was to take a screenshot and open it in Lens which is very annoying since I have to take a screenshot and delete it after say translating the text inside it.
I also have the same need, but there is really nothing I found.
Maybe you could try Bixby vision that is more integrated in the one UI
I loved this lens function on my pixel 6 A simple way to save photos without taking a screenshot. I miss this feature in Galaxy S23 Ultra :/
Highly desireable feature, I also moved from a pixel 7 pro and extensively used Google lens for copying text from pics & such and the smart select function on one ui is not nearly as good!

I was living in Brazil so I have always been using Lens to translate new words or phrases besides its other options. Now I moved to Germany and I need it more

There should be a workaround to use Lens in One UI.
We need pixel launcher port
I have google lens installed on my S23U and its working, if you dont have it, maybe try to download it from the play store?

It's already installed but not integrated as in aosp roms. You have to take a screenshot and then go to lens and find that screenshot. Then you're able to translate or copy a text inside that photo.

Question S23 Ultra what is the dev password for Smart View hidden settings

Just noticed the new an updated app for smart view now has a password to ask the hidden settings:
Works on all older versions of the app on S22ultra and older, but for some reason there's a password just to access the hidden settings.
Anyone know how I can get around this, either downgrade my smart view app or find the password for it.
For example the password for the older version of advanced controls used to be #00sv00 on my S22ultra or S21 or S10
Any help is appreciated
