Still can't see the black text of the first two posts on my black themed Tapatalk. Definitely not a problem that affects the majority, but it may be confusing to some as the post just looks blank.

Is this more modded than the trapkernel?
Would be AWESOME with a lil OC thrown in.
As per norm all is worshippingly appreciated.

Great

I tested this kernel a little while ago and don't recall having any problems with wifi. You can test it easily though by flashing it. It's always just a flash back to Trapkernel if you run into any issues.

Hmm...Can you tell me exactly what you did? To go back BTW you can just flash Trapkernel in the AP slot of Odin.

just flashed the vegito zip in twrp. would only boot back to twrp after that, so tried flashing the boot.img i had pulled from monstro rom (which im currently on). same result, so i then flashed trapkernel via ODIN, but still no boot. i haven't done any factory resets or clean installs yet cuz i'm at work. will try later tonight.

If it's automatically booting into TWRP instead of Android, then you're in a recovery loop. More info below:
As far as I know, the only way to cause a recovery loop on this device is to select "reboot to recovery"(instead of regular reboot or just powering off) from somewhere either in TWRP or Android. To fix, if just flashing Trapkernel doesn't work, then try flashing TWRP again as well. Sometimes it helps to uncheck "auto-reboot" in Odin so you can flash them both on the same go. Assuming that you didn't at any point flash anything in a slot other than the AP in Odin, it should get you booting again.
After that you can try flashing the Vegito .img file to your device. Steps for that below.
-----------------
INSTALLING VEGITO:
-----------------
1) Download the Vegito boot.img file to your device.
2) Reboot into TWRP.
3) Click on "Install".
4) Click "Install Image" button.
5) Navigate to the boot.img and select it.
6) Select "Boot" from the next page to let it know you're installing a kernel.
7) Reboot and enjoy.

If I have the time I'll do a pull request adding CPU Governors InteractiveX, Smartass, and SmartassV2 as I already have the code and files on hand after adding them to the stock kernel. Have to flash and test on my own device for bugs first.

After a user of this phone model contacted me via pm about the way root is handled and if I knew a way around it forcing root on every boot
quote on quote his words, I took a look at your git and theres only 1 commit? Like you predid everything then uploaded it and made 1 little change after..
That really makes it unable to help or fix any problems you had with other stuff added?
If anything the user would like to know why you're not using systemless root, it's far much simpler

I am a fan of his early work. Thanks to him again.
Just a comment of my own about his kernel.
Samsung stock roms do not allow to charge while hook to the PC!
There is a reason for it as I understand. When your battery is empty the load of your Tablet can approach 2 Amps !!!!
Your PC's USB Port is designed for a maximum load of only .5 A.
So as you see an empty battery in an tablet could overwhelm the USB Port by trying to load 4 times more (2/.5) than the available .5. This could put unnecessary overload in our USB Port that could result in unnecessary heat stress in our PC. ****
I have test Bindroid V3.0 and I personally like the rom. Due to my personal opinion, I have make sure that my tablet was fully charge or close when I did plug it to my Laptop.
*****Edited to prevent disagreement due to my personal opinion with my buddy MobiMikes. The original sentence was:

The kernel is working. I lost root so I flashed it again via TWRP.
There's a bug: when the screen is off, and you want to turn it on, the device reboots. Could you fix that? And please add the option to set lower frequencies to the processors both big and LITTLE (The lower frequency currently is 800mHz on big and 500 on LITTLE)
Thanks for your work
Oh if there is a reboot bug then ill wait till it gets fixed after that ill flash it for reporting

Hi, I modifed stock 23.5.A.1.291 kernel to support f2fs file system etc.
The kernel is EXPERIMENTAL so I need testers.
Features for now:
F2FS support (without encryption)
Disabled sony RIC
SELinux permissive
GPU overclock
Kcal support
IntelliThermal
init.d support
Multirom works using no-kexec workaround (WIP kexec-hardboot)
DIRTY COW exploit patched!
Both f2fs and ext4 partitions support
Custom CPU govenors
Custom ZEN I/O scheduler as requested
Adreno Idler
Intelli-plug
Voltage Control
Features that will be added:
CPU overclock
Optimizations
working kexec-hardboot patch
CPU govenors
I/O schedulers
you tell me?
Features that will not be added:
TWRP - install it with fastboot (custom roms also have them )
Prerequisites:
Official TWRP from https://twrp.me/ (it contains mandatory mkfs.f2fs file)
Xperia Z3 Compact
Fastboot drivers installed and unlocked bootloader
FizTech kernel - helium
Instructions:
I recommend to do this after fresh install of ROM of choice. I tested my kernel on SLiMM and AOXP.
Kernel must be flashed through recovery. The zip contain wifi module and script that corrects partition layout.
If you want to use f2fs filesystem then follow optional steps which will format your /data and /cache partitions. (Maybe backup? )
Think thrice if you are determined to install this!
Install official TWRP
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
To enter recovery press POWER and VOLUME down buttons simultaneously when phone is switched off. It should boot to recovery. This requires new bootloader, that allows booting to recovery.
Install ROM of your choice
F2FS optional : Wipe->advanced wipe select /cache and change filesystem to F2FS (Repair or Change File System)
F2FS optional : Do the same for /data
Install kernel ZIP
Reboot and wait. Sometimes it takes few minutes, especially after fresh install.
F2FS advice: If device is not booting, please reboot to recovery. Check your if your /data and /cache filesystems are F2FS. If not then repeat F2FS optional steps. Even if your partitions were F2FS, install kernel zip once again.
Optional: install TWRP once again if it was damaged by ROM installation.
If you don't see F2FS format option in "Repair or Change File System" then your recovery doesn't have mkfs.f2fs file in /sbin of your recovery (it needs to have permissions also). Use offical TWRP from @someone755

A day were a new kernel project is starting is a good day...
Good work up to now...
Maybe UV would also be nice...
Good to hear about the new kernel. Awesome works!
I'm having with issue with the touch screen on my Z3 compact. The top and bottom of screen is unresponsive. But it happens on main screen, not in lock screen, not in welcome screen (when installed a fresh rom), and also not in TWRP.
I believe this related to the Sony' kernel. Could you help to investigate and hopefully fix the issue.
I will test the rom if hearing any word from you
Many thanks.

Did I understood correctly, that you installed my kernel and such issue appeared? If yes: does the it exist on other kernels? I didn't modify anything in panel/screen/touchscreen. The only possible problem for now is that some kernel modules are not loaded. I must check which one is resonsible for what to decide whether to enable it or not or if it could be responsible for such issue (which I doubt).
What about your charger? In some cases broken chargers caused misbehaviour in touchscreen . For instance they are not properly grounded.
I need more information to help you.

Can someone please explain to me what are benefits of f2fs, and what does it mean? Are there any bad sides of using it?

If you search on Google, you will find that f2fs is a filesystem developed by Samsung, faster than the others file systems(if used on emmc, SD card and ufs) so it'good if we could use it. But the kernel must have compatibility for it. Correct me if I'm wrong! And I'm looking forward using this kernel!

It's not from your kernel. It's issue on Sony's ROM, which causes top and bottom screen area is not touchable. I think it was the kernel issue. Some forks from the thread had the same of my issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/home-button-t3151587
Many appreciates if you can figure out and have some fixes included in the kernel.
Thanks,
Cool! All the best developing this kernel. I will surely try this. BTW, do you see and performance and battery improvements in SliMM or AOXP?

Cool I'm developing AOXP... And 1.3 I will be releasing 1.3 now!
Also, how stable is the kernel?
This kernel Is awesome! It would be good if you added zen io, Adreno idler and dynamic fsync

Maybe I will consider it in the future. Now I would like to focus on stock based kernel and patching it.
I have a problem with my sd 64GB with this kernel i get a notification that says "corrupted sd card" i touch to format and fix but not work and my sd work with twrp :/ i use SLIMM 3.8
noob question could you tell me a good setup for running games without lag? I have problems in games like NFS no limits and RR3 in stock.
I tested another kernel only that always hangs up then I need to reboot.
Game always starts well only after a while drops to 15/20fps I'm almost changing smartphone. I've seen that is some limit that sony puts after a certain temperature thank you for help

Hi, what is the filesystem of your sdcard?
Have you tried to format in TWRP or with help of PC?

Hi, after certain temperature a feature called CPU throttling is enabled. It's implemented by thermal driver to prevent damage to your phone. I haven't tried it in gaming but I read many positive opinions about intelli thermal driver which is included in my kernel.
I'll install that game and tell you how it works for me.

FAQ
1. Screen mirroring is not working. Is it kernel related?
No. It is root related. Just add this to your /system/build.prop :
Code:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
2. Bootloop.
Did you flashed SuperSU or Magisk again? Maybe you were rooted before and you need to reflash root. Pay attention to OP instructions and to the text printed in recovery.
3. Thank you for this kernel.
But can you please help me to get surround sound on my S6?
Sure, here.
4. How to enable multiuser support?
Add these to your build.prop:
Code:
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.max_users=5
5. Synapse is saying:
- "No UCI support" → Close the app from recents and open it again. If still no UCI support then PM me with the output of this command: uci (run it with su permissions).
- "JSON configuration parsing failure" → Using a file manager go to /res/synapse and delete a file named "config.json", close Synapse then open again, UCI error, reopen and done.
- The apply and discard buttons appeared for no reason. Which one should I click? → Click "X". This is a bug in Synapse.
- Is there a mod for Synapse? → Yes, Morogoku worked on it and I modified it a little bit to match our kernel and I built it. Get it from the attachments below. All the credits are going to Morogoku. It features backup/restore profile option and a red material theme.
6. Where to install BusyBox? In /su/xbin or /system/xbin. I'm using SuperSU and Synapse is working perfectly. After each boot up I highly recommend you to check the Synapse settings, especially CPU OC to see if everything is ok.
7. How to build your kernel from source?
After you git cloned it, open terminal in the root of the cloned folder and enter this: "sudo bash build_kernel.sh G920F" (or your model). Choose stock dt.img during building process.
8. XYZ not working. PM me with logs and screenshots.
Thanks! I'll try it later

First, thanks for the great kernel.
It works perfectly on my g920i except for magisk is now frequently auto unrooting. I reflashed it several times but keeps unrooting after a few minutes. Any ideas for a solution?

you can try but most likely twrp won't work after flashing kernel. so in order to use twrp, you will have to use bootable twrp image and use it whenever you need it. best thing to do is, flash Ryzen_rX_m.img via fastboot. and instead of flashing twrp, just boot the bootable version.

The trouble with TWRP being in the boot image is that...well... it is in the boot image.
I have a script to install TWRP as a patch into the current boot image... basically, you would flash the kernel, boot the bootable TWRP and then flash the TWRP installer. Will test it out...

that would be great, cuz currently there's no way to modify ramdisk and ramdisk modification is necessary for upcoming eas kernel for flash and forget installing. otherwise it's kinda too much work to setup properly. although there's a long way to get fully stable eas. hopefully next month it will be ready.
Bro , After installing the kernel my Wi-Fi became unstable, all online games like bullet force, critical ops and modern combat 5 are disconnecting every 3 minutes. I solved re-flash Stock boot.img And it was stable as before.
Can you give a better Instruction for beginners. Do we need unlocked BL or not and how to flash via ADB Tools, would be awesome!

Logs, please.
So... I have not had much time lately to work on X4 stuff. But I did find time to build a script to inject the TWRP ramdisk into whatever boot image happens to be on the device.
It works, but for SOME reason it seems to always boot to recovery. Weird. I need to figure out why this is happening. Once I do, we should be able to use the bootable TWRP to flash a TWRP installer ZIP after flashing a custom kernel.
This seems like a much better scenario than having to recompile TWRP with each new custom kernel as it is released.
Will update again in a few days when I nail down this recovery bootloop.
If anyone wants to look, the ZIP is here (again, DON'T flash it as it bootloops): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UzCz5sgJGCZJZ9ws_H4XZkxOQioWeyoc
It is frustrating that I spent 2 months trying to make a boot image start directly to recovery, and now I can't seem make one that DOESN'T.
Update r2 is released. link on first post.
* upstreamed to latest stable kernel release 4.4.114.

Hello,
Just wondering, would it be possible to incorporate TWRP (with permission/cooperation from @mightysween of course) into the kernel along with Magisk, so that both TWRP and Magisk get flashed when boot partition is flashed. I am not a programmer or anything, so just ignore if it is a dumb question and is not feasible.
Thank you

i believe he has tried it already, problem is it boots to recovery instead of system. so pretty much unusable.
