Native WiFI trick for s7 edge - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussio

If you have updated your phone like me and lost the native WiFi (grayed out apn type settings). One temporary fix is to restart your phone and when it comes back up the first thing you should do is turn on the hotspot before all of the services kick in. The only problem is that once you turn it off and need it again you will have to restart your phone again.
Hopes it works for you like it did for me.
I don't know if this has been said in a previous post.

If you get the 'no data connection' error,
just quickly turn off hotspot and turn on again.
This is all about timing,
turn on hotspot too quick after reboot and the data radios have not yet connected,
too long and the verify subscription kicks in.
there is a window inbetween that works.
This has been covered in other threads,
not my find,
just relaying info

DUDE that worked. THANKS

I am hoping some one can tell me if this still works. I am thinking of upgrading from my rooted S5 and hot spot is very important to me.

+1 - I'm in the same exact boat
I need WiFi Tethering. Currently have a S5 that works great - but upgrade is coming next week. Deciding between S7 and LG G5 - but both seem to not have root available. I don't really care for root, but I must have WiFi tethering.
So does it work or not work for the S7? Any reasons to get the G5 instead?

S7 has root and you can get a unlocked hotspot
Sent from my SM-G930P using XDA-Developers mobile app

Good news I got my S7 and this Wi-Fi hotspot tethering still works. So I guess it will stay workinguntill the next update? I guess I should turn off my updates. This way I can wait a while before I have to try to root this new S7.

New Update
Does anyone know if the new update disables this hot spot workaround.? It still works without the update and no root.

[Q]about AT&T WI-FI problem in Starbuck or Mcdonalds?

I got Atrix recently, unlocked and flash Allen #4 ROM, but when I use AT&T WI-FI in Starbuck or Mcdonalds, get message - "You are connected to the internet". But it works for a little while, then disconnect - "ATT Wifi Hot Spot" "Unable to confirm eligibility, please call Customer CARE..." but the WIFI is working very well in my DEFY...I'm using T-moble, someone told me have to transfer to ATT carrier...
Is this only one way to solve the issue? I'm in NY...thx for all ans
You could try different ROMS to see if its a phone or software issue or network issue. Have you used wifi that's not ATT wifi and tried that? It could be a network thing.

I have encountered the same issue. Work recently installed a few AT&T hotspots in our buildings. I called customer care, but they were not much help. Seems if I drop Wifi and re-enable Wifi I get a good connection without the message. I never have this issue when visiting a restaurant next to a FedEx store. Lately, this happens 50% of the time.
-Steve.
Thanks guys...I will try to flash official 4.5.91 SBF...then take a test
I have this issue on a stock ROM on my Galaxy SII Skyrocket. Problem is, it never works no matter how many times I turn wifi off and back on etc. Customer service is clueless.
-This device works fine on any NON ATT hot spot and my wifi at office and home.
-This problem only started about a week ago
-So far I have confirmed this is a problem in Sam's Clubs (2) and Barnes and Noble.
-All AT&T or non AT&T phones that do not have their stupid "Auto-Login" software work without a problem, even my tablet that is WiFi only. Same locations works fine as long as it's not a device with their Auto-Login software crapping things up.
rooted stock atrix on latest rom. same issue.
whatever......
Depending on the store, some have a log in in the browser you have to press a few buttons.

I did do that, but same problem. I'm new to the whole custom ROM thing, and I've noticed that even after doing what you said, it still has issues. Either it will connect, then disconnect, or put the phone into a reboot loop until I leave the area where the ATT wifi is. But, if I revert back to stock 2.3.6, I have no issues. Is there a fix for custom ROMs that I just haven't stumbled across yet?

I always do, but I have it on when I'm trying to use wifi, like when I'm sitting in McD's, I would like to use wifi. But I can't on a custom ROM. Is there a fix besides turning off my wifi when I want to use my wifi?
'Fraid not. CM ROMs are not endorsed by AT&T and so don't support AT&T pecularities. If you want support for AT&T hotspots, you're stuck with stock software or a ROM based on it, for example Nottachtrix or ICSROM or similar.

That's what I was afraid of. I've been trying with Atrics v1.0 and 2.0 with no luck on AT&T hotspots, always sends me into a constant reboot cycle until I leave the hotspot coverage area.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S5 losing network connectivity

My wife and I both have brand new Galaxy S5s, and we both intermittently experience this problem. One of us will send a text message to the other, the text will show as being sent, but the other person doesn't receive it. If the person set to receive the message reboots their phone, the message comes through (as well as any other "pending" messages), and normal phone use continues for a few days until this issue returns. Rebooting seems to always fix the issue temporarily.
This of course is not limited to just communication between our phones, but I was using that as an example. Often times, I'll reboot my phone, and realize I have 3 new text messages, and 2 voicemails from yesterday. Very frustrating.
Phone calls are also affected. When these symptoms are present, phone calls cannot be placed or received until the phone is rebooted. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail.
The worst part of it is, there is no easy way to tell our phones are not connected to the network. The reception status shows good connectivity. Most of the time we're connected to wifi, so email and browsing the internet still work.
I'm just wondering if other people are experiencing this, or have any suggestions of some things we can try. Thanks for the help.

From what I know T-Mobile doesn't care if your phone is rooted because you're not doing any warranty service. If that was the case they will probably tell you that its voided.. I have seen a few that root their own phones at their job so I doubt it'll be a problem. But I guess every T-Mobile store isn't the same..

Yes this is the exact problem I had with last GS5. Tmobile replaced it and I still have this problem with the new GS5. The tried to tell me it was just how the old GS5 settings were set. They had me do Factory reset many times, it never helped. Now with the replacement GS5 the exact same problem. Like you everything looks great on the display. I would just get calls on my home line wanting to know why I never answer my mobile phone. The only thing that helps me is a restart but it is only temporary. Do you know if they have released a fix for this problem?

The only thing it seems the tmobile employees know how to do is a factory reset .. That is their solution for about everything . Like the other guy said they dont handle warranty . That is for your samsung warranty when knox is tripped . If you have handset protection nothing voids it from what i have seen . I think tmobile would rather replace a rooted phone than one with a cracked screen .

rooting And tethering

I have had my z2 for a while now and have been contemplating rooting it the whole time. The main things that's put me off is that the Barclay's app will not work with a rooted device and that's probably the single most useful app I have ever used... However I've come across a new problem which is making me want/need to root more than ever before. My provider (three UK) used to have an amazing contract with unlimited data AND unlimited tethering / hotspot. Unfortunately when I upgraded to my z2, they failed to tell me that whilst I have unlimited data, my tethering is now limited to 2GB a month without even the opportunity to buy more if I need some.
What happens now if I have my laptop connected to my phone is that I will get a text from three every 5 minutes or so saying that I'm over my tethering limit and then when I try to go to w page on my laptop, it ends up with a three page saying that I'm out of data.
I've tried a root free app that was supposed to work but it ended up doing exactly the same thing, so three knew I was using My phone as a hotspot and stopped it.
With a rooted device can I tether without limits? Or will three know what's going on a stop me again?
Suppose I might as well ask this as well; Is there a way I could get the Barclay's app to think the phone isn't rooted so it will work again?
Cheers!
Looks like you've got sane reason I still have rooted my z2 dammit barclays

I know! It was the same case on my iPhone, I couldn't jailbreak because I lost the Barclay's app. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't use it like a million times a day. Its by far the most useful app I've ever had. XD
U tried foxfi before but unfortunately it didn't work, ive come across clockworkmod tether though and it works without issues. So if anyone else is having the same problem that's my reccomendation!
I only use tethering because I'm in the forces and we can't get WiFi in my block but Id rather like to play league in my downtime.. Hopefully its not enough to trigger three into looking at my account, anyone know?
Check out root cloak for Xposed, it has a list of compstible/incompatible apps so take a look

Connectivity issues on the V10 when using the LTE Cellspot after the 6.0 update.

Hi,
I just wanted to put this out there if any of you guys like me relies on the T-mobile LTE Cellspot to get a good signal and data in your house. On 5.1.1 it worked like a dream, with speeds up to 60 mps download. As soon as I installed the update I'd no-longer get LTE using the cellspot. The LTE light stopped blinking (it should always blink when your getting LTE on your phone), and the 3G/4G light started blinking and all I could get was 4G with 10-12 mps download and I'd loose signal all together a lot. Witch never ever happened before the update. So I did all the usual things. I did a factory reset on my phone . I did a reset on my cellspot. I called Tmobile the first time and the guy basically said 6.0 is buggy and you'll just have to wait until LG issues another update to fix this bug. He offered me LG's phone number I said forget it and hung up. I thought about it a bit then called back. This guy just immediately issued me a replacement device, witch they sent overnight. I got it in the mail yesterday and when I set it up it was still on Android 5.1.1 and works perfectly again. I'm scared to update it again. I was just wondering if anyone else on here has a V10 and uses an LTE Cellspot and has updated to 6.0 and had any of these issues? If so please let me know. If your still on 5.1.1 and rely on a cellspot then beware of updating to 6.0.
thanks.

I am in the same situation. I traded in my TMO wifi router for the LTE Cell tower. Great addition since we had 4 phones and 2 tablets that were all on wifi prior to. Once I updated my V10 (via LG Bridge) I immediately noticed a difference in signal strength. Prior to, I had full bars of LTE coverage anywhere in the house. After the update, I regularly see the spinning circle (searching for signal) above my signal bars, and even out in public, my signal strength has dropped. I was going to be patient and see if another update followed soon. If not, I might root and start testing other roms and kernels.

Thanks for the info guys. I got lucky and Tmobile sent me a new V10 with Lollipop still on it so it's working great again. I noticed that that MM update isn't available anymore, the few times I checked anyhow, I called Tmobile, and I don't know if the guy was full of it or not but he said they pulled the 6.0 update and are working on putting out a 6.01 update that works better. But if you hurry and call Tmobile they may send you a new phone that's still on Lolipop like they did for me. Let me know if an new update comes out that works with CELLSPOT otherwise I'll wait for root. Thanks for the feedback though I really appreciate it.

According to the Marshmallow update page for T-Mobile devices as well as the support page for the V10, they have not pulled the update nor is there any mention of them doing pulling it so the dude who told you they did us full of, well you know what. Never believe anything the customer service person on the phone says because 9 times out of 10, you will know more then them, and they are clueless most of the time.

yea your right buddy.. they just sent me another OTA to update for MM. I figured out a way so it would stop bugging me about it. I'm not upgrading again until a new update comes out that I'm sure works with my cellspot. the only thing I miss about MM is the new Google Now... that is really slick. I wish there was a way to get that without updating from lolipop
Ok, T-Mobile is aware of this issue and are currently working on 6.0.1 to fix the problem, I don't know how long, but I was lucky enough to get a replacement phone with Lolipop, and I'm not updating it until the 6.0.1 is out and somebody successfully did it and it works, until then I'll stay on lollipop, all I really miss is Google now on tap.

Ok, I just got off the phone, with both Tmobile and LG, I can confirm they are working hard on a 6.0.1 update for the V10, they claim all bugs will be fixed with this update, thank goodness I got back to Lolipop. But they are working on this update to come out in a month maybe 2, both people at LG and Tmobile said. So good news.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe that freezing the update center Will Stop the MM upgrade because I tried that & it seems to have have been the cause of the notification disappearing. I had to restart my phone after freezing it to make the notification go away, but it did go away without my hiding the notification for Google play services. I hope this is able to help you
Saw that they finally have root for MM but I do rely on the T-Mobile cellspot at work. Also you guys mentioned that you random signal lost while out and about. I'm not gonna take the chance to update my phone. Will wait and see what v6.0.1 brings. Otherwise, I'm content with lollipop, does all I need it to. I used Siraltus's methods to disable the OTA notification.

Sorry I haven't looked at this thread in awhile. I got rid of the notification by going to. Settings >General >apps>all> then scroll down to the update center and just hit disable. That stopped it for me. Let me know if that worked for you as well.
Any News on this?
I went into my local tmobile store, they claimed that LG has notified them on the mistake on the 6.0 update and that they are working on a fix. My wife and I have the V10's and are tired of the network drops.... getting old. worked fine on lollipop. I guess it's a waiting game now, since there are no publications on this issue. every time I call customer support, they have no idea that this is a problem.

I was told the same thing and I was sent a replacement phone with Lolipop still on it and I haven't upgraded again. I don't know if that's still an option or if they're shipping the V10s already with the 6.0 update. It might be worth looking into. If you raise a big enough stink they'll send you new phones. I couldn't live with this phone on 6.0, it was horrible. All I really miss about the update is Google now on tap and that's not really a huge deal because this phone is so awesome running on 5.1.1 on the cellspot.

I just picked up a lg G5with 6.0.1 and already exchanged device...drops signal with cellspot every 1 minute...no signal, full bars...Tech support no issues noted on their end with G5 and said sorry go back and get a different device

i did see that turning off GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto and switch GSM/WCDMA,seems to be holding a signal and staying connected to LtE cellspot...so just the people getting a G5 and reading this..1st thing i would try do!
I wonder if that would work on the V10 6.0 update.. Hmmm, I'm scared to try, if anyone already has the V10 on 6.0 and you try that let me know.

LTE Connectivity now working
Came home today and LTE connection from cellspot working. I don't think T-Mobile updated phone, as there were no updates. I think they may have updated the LTE cellspot via internet connection. Did a hard reset of cellspot yesterdat. LTE connects with 35 mbs speed (same as internet connection). Greensboro,
NC

New update today PJ4

Turned my phone on this morning to a new update. Still 6.0.1 with a build number of PJ4. Not sure what it "fixes" yet but noticed a new bloat app called Fullscreen.
I received this update as well. Just to be clear, this is bootloader 4, correct? I'm not sure how to verify. I am about to flash you're U version you posted, and hopefully get wifi calling and texting working on it. You said you flashed back to at&t version, may I ask why ?
Yes, everything's 4 now.
I flashed back to stock att too get wifi calling and volte back that wasn't available on the U

I am about to do that as well
I like the U firmware, but that damn WIFI calling is too important for me ( My house and work have no cell service). Damn AT&T and not having a streamlined WIFI calling system. Do you use the samsung disabler app at all? i use it to pretty much remove everything.
Even though for me wifi calling seems to not work as well after the update.
I do the same with PDP, I disable all I can!
Here what's new
Opps, I rooted the other day and then this update hit, thought I could ignore it but it applied it anyways. I tried to flash the "unroot" files, API2 seems the latest available, but I can not flash those. Do I just have to wait for Pj4 files to be available to flash?
My WiFi calling seems to be working fine. I usually turn on airplane mode though then WiFi. Forces WiFi calling

At my work it used to kick on wifi calling as soon as I got there. Now it rarely does. I haven't ever needed to try the airplane mode trick but Ill give it a go.
I do it because I have the slightest hint of service. I forgot where I read it, but WiFi calling is for when there is zero service . The airplane mode works pretty great. Hope it helps!

It wasn't until this most recent update AND a cache wipe/factory reset that Wi-Fi activation finally went through. I have it enabled and it over rides my cell service regardless of signal strength and airplane mode state. It's been clear as a bell for me, however, I've only tried it over my home network. I'd imagine it wouldn't work too well over an open public or overloaded network but I could be wrong
