how to rrot my z2 marshmellow - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i updated my phone to the new firmware 6.0.1 build 23.5.A.0.575
any one can tell me how to root it?

U'll have to downgrade to lollipop root it and install recovery and flash any pre-rooted android M firmware + bootloop fix, That's the only way for now to have root access on android M.

3. Same as 2.
Have u followed all the steps, I've provided above.?

I hear sound from loudspeaker and ear speaker but in digonastic there's no sound

Here is the main page for downloading flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Ps.: Since your device is D6502, remember to flash the correct baseband files for your device. Most roms uses the D6503 files, but if there is the necessity, the OP always provides the download link for the correct files for your model. If there is none, ask before flashing if it is supported by your device, or you will get network problems after that.

Flashtool will work with your device, dont worry. I said that because if you are trying to flash a custom rom on your device, you have to know if the rom have support for your model.
Baseband is the partition of the system that "guides" the software to recognize the chip on the logic board of your device to receive GSM signal, that is what you use to make calls and accsess the internet over 3G or 4G. (a very simple explanation)
The difference between D6503 and D6502 models is just the frequence bands that the chip on the logic boards are compatible. So, you have to flash the correct baseband files for your phone to work properly.
I've made it clear? I don't speak english very well because my primary language is Portuguese.

First of all u speak english v well. Don't worry.
Secondly thanks. As of now i just want my device rooted with mm. I accidentally did something wrong when i was on lollipop and i had to repair using PCC. So i m wout root. And now theres this tedious process. But i m ready to do it after reading so much. So no custom roms as of now.
I m only gonna use lollipop firmware in the official thread for my device. That will not cause any baseband issue if I flash it using latest flashtool...right??

No, if its the official firmware from the thread for your device you are ok to go, just make shure to install all the drivers necessary to the connection with your PC for a perfect flash. There is a folder inside of the flashtool install folder called "drivers", make shure that theyre installed. :fingers-crossed:

I have one more question if u don't mind. And i think i ll keep on asking wherever i have doubt. Sorry. First time u see...
After root and recovery of lollipop, i have plans to make pre rooted ftf for MM. I have read in few thread that dual recovery does not work with MM and to use recroot otherwise it gives bootloops. But i saw a youtube video where that guy used dual recovery to make prerooted ftf. And he flashed and succeeded.
Do u have any idea, whats the correct thing?

IMPORTANT !!!!!!
ONCE ROOTED,
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en and backup all your apps(on SD card)
Step 3(next step) of this post will reset(factory reset) your phone.
BACKUP ALL YOUR CONTACTS AND CALENDER ON GOOGLE
BACKUP ALL YOUR MESSAGES AND IMPORTANT STUFF !!
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SD CARD ON PC FOR SAFETY (THIS WILL BE DONE AFTER ALL BACKUPS ARE DONE I.E. LAST BACKUP)
Step 3: UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
If you have no idea about this, read this
Why exactly is this a big deal? For the general population, this doesn’t matter. However, for the modding community, locked bootloaders are simply a pain. When the bootloader is locked, certain portions of the device are unable to be customized such as recoveries or kernels. A lot of the time, when rooting a device, the first step requires the bootloader to be unlocked or bypassed. So, depending on the device in question and the will of the developer, creative Android hacking has allowed some devices with locked bootloaders to run custom ROMs. Generally, these devices aren’t as stable as they could be if the device was able to be completely customized from the ground up.
1) http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and follow the steps carefully ( skip step 13, we've already done that )
IF YOU GET STUCK ON STEP 14,DO THIS
to navigate to android SDK folder, use this command(without quotes)
"cd location_of_your_android_SDK\platform-tools"
for me, it was - "C:\androidSDK\platform-tools"
2)If you followed the rules, you will have an unlocked bootloader
3)Yipeeee !!!
4)Dont worry about your apps, they're still on your SD card
5)Restore only the apps which are very important and you cant live without them for a day..
Step 4: INSTALLING CWM(CLOCK WORK MOD / RECOVERY)
if you dont know what cwm is, just read but dont follow the steps to install it
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
1) http://www.mediafire.com/?73xv18tht0e8zt4 download cwm
2)Connect your phone in MSC (mass storage mode) mode and wait until SD card available to PC
3)increase your display time out to 2 minutes
4)Enable USB debugging and allow 3rd party/unknown sources
5)open the downloaded folder(extract first)
6)Run install-cwm1.cmd
7)sit back and enjoy!!!
8)once finished, you'll have cwm installed!!!!
9)to check if you have cwm, turn off phone
10)turn on and when sony logo appears, repeatedly press vol down button until you reach a blue colored menu, if successful, cwm is installed properly!! if not, please comment or reinstall it.
11)navigation in cwm-
go up-vol up
go down-vol down
select option-home button
previous menu-back button
thanks siddharthsure93
Step 5: TAKING A NANDROID BACKUP
if you have no idea about this, read this
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/38468-nandroid-backup-what-is-it-and-did-i-need-it/
make sure that your sd card has at least 1gb free space and you have 50% battery charge
1)Hoping that you have cwm installed, turn off phone
2)Enter cwm by repeatedly press vol down button when sony logo appears
3)go to "backup and restore"
4)select "backup"
5)wait for 10-15 minutes till your phone is backuped
6)now you have a copy of your current phone and rom memory
we do this to restore phone if something goes wrong
NOW YOU HAVE PREPARED YOUR PHONE TO GET CM9 OR ANY FU*KIN ROM !!! :good::good:
IF I GO WRONG SOMEWHERE, PLEASE CORRECT ME WE ALL LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.
PLEASE PRESS THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU

Im with a neo v with A.0.62 firmware
Which cannot be rooted
But i have already unlocked bootloader
what can I do now?
If i directly flash in JB Kernel and rom, will I be able to have root permissions? Do i even need to care about my .62 firmware if i want to go into CM10?
What should i do? Thanks!

You will need to root your phone first. Installing a custom ROM won't automatically give you root acces. In fact, I don't think you will be able to install a custom ROM without ClockWork Mod Recovery which needs root access first. Follow Sony's own rooting guide here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0. Then install X-Parts from the Play Store to get CWM.
Once you have CWM you can install any appropriate custom ROM you like.
Oh is that gonna be painful
Iv unlocked bootloaded with .62 firmware
So i cant get to official ics and stucked with the .62, flashing an older firmware for the root is risky? After that i have to go back to .62 again?

Use flash tool and an ftf file to update to ICS. You can go with 0.587 version for example.
After update as you are on unlocked bootloader you should flash a custom ICS kernel like suave, night elf or any other ICS compatible. This will give you root and cwm.
Look at the stickys. You will find all you need.

You can always relock the bootloader (don't know what method you used to unlock, so can't advise on how to relock - I only know how if unlocking was done through Sony). Update the firnware to stock Sony ICS using Sony's PC Companion. Then root it using Sony's rooting guide. After rooting you can unlock the bootloader again. Install X-Parts and CWM. Then try out the custom ROMs+kernels to your heart's content.

On the other hand, unlocking via official method gives you an easy option to Relock bl via flashtool!
There's a thread by Blagus on how to do that!
Btw even Relocking via setool is an option for unofficially unlocked bl users!
So there's always an option!

Yes. That's the tutorial I'm talking about. I only mentioned what I did because I've done it before. After relocking use PC Companion to update your phone. Or the Sony phone repair program. I don't remember which. If you try both (like I did) one (or both) of them will work. But still you are out of warranty. You know that, don't you?

Basically its all about DRM loss. What do I exactly lose? Only trackid? I suppose the newer versions run on unlocked bootloaders as well.

I think you are right. It's basically about losing DRM. I don't know what it is and of what use it is. All I know is I've never missed it. If you are into trying out custom ROMs then unlocking the bootloader is a must because certain custom ROMs need custom kernels. To install custom kernels you must have an unlocked bootloader.

Yes, I installed drivers, when I go to import device it just says that there's no device to import.
Also, after trying one more time, when I press the confirm button (step 5 of the tutorial) it says that an error ocorred (it says something about memory and to try again),

For this you will need Flashtool and Xperia drivers intalled on your PC. (Installing Sony PC companion will do)
Well, what you need to do is download the kernel of previous version. I have attached a file but I am not sure if its the old version. (.10)
Flash FTF of your desired STOCK rom ICS via Flashtool.
Flash kernel of any version before 6.1.1.b.1.54 .
Root it using the file attached.
And you are done!

Just tried to flash the kernel and when I start the phone all I can see is a black screen (as wallpaper) and the normal icons on top (baterry, etc.) and I can't do anything else with the phone.
Is that normal? If so I just have to root it now with the file attached on your post right?
TugaSonic said:
Yes, I installed drivers, when I go to import device it just says that there's no device to import.
Also, after trying one more time, when I press the confirm button (step 5 of the tutorial) it says that an error ocorred (it says something about memory and to try again),

NO, but don't worry.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
if not, this must be the reason.
if ýou have unlocked bootloader then,
Flash kernel again and root it using .10.
I am thinking you must have disconnected the phone in the middle.
Were you on administration when you tried to flash it ?
You must give administration rights to run the programme.
Were the drivers properly installed ?
A screen came and said to restore and then you didnot disconnect your phone till the programme asked you to ?
Have you followed instructions properly ?
IF all this doesnot work, Flash FTF of ICS of any ICS you like . Root it again !
I have rooted my phone so many times with the file i sent !
And you are using the option 1 when it asks you to root. You are rooting a mobile and not a tablet.
If anything you need to ask, I be writing you back!

Hi again, I still haven't tried rooting since I don't have bootloader unlocked.
I tried following this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
But when I went to verify if I can unlock my phone's bootloader it says No. Do I have to follow another tutorial? Or is it impossible?

As I suspected, your phone has come with locked bootloader. This means that Sony will not support your phone to be unlocked. The reason simply is they do not want to give out cheap phones so you can use any other sim on your phone. However, you can only run roms which support locked bootloader and you can not experiment much with your phone as it will brick your device. There are quite few roms which support locked bootloader. Further, the tutorial is simply from Sony and thus will not work for your phone!

OK, one last thing, I found this rom (it says that works with locked bootloader): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=194647
But in the instructions it says to flash it via CWM (I know that it's a custom recovery), I searched and the tutorials I found either ask for root or unlocked bootloader.
The text file attached in OP doesn't help much as I am not able to know which FW are you using.
I assume that the FW is greater than B.1.10 which Is why u are facing problems while rooting as the FW used in the guide in OP is B.1.10.
FYI, B.1.10 was directly rootable without much hassle just by following the guide but if you have a C.1.0 / B.1.89 / B.1.100 Stock Rom on your device then you will have to do some extra steps

On my phone it says, Build Number: 6.1.1.B.1.54
Here's the Rooting Process for you.
This Rooting guide applies to all FW versions above B.1.10.
1) Open Flashtool.
2) Click the Flash icon.
3) Select Flash Mode. (Make sure USB Debugging is ON in your Mobile Settings before connecting to PC)
4) Select & Flash the B.1.10 kernel. Then Reboot.
5) Select the Un-Lock icon and choose your preferred SU app & proceed.
6) Follow the on-screen instructions.
7) Now you have rooted your device.
8) Flash B.1.54 kernel and let the device reboot.

You don't need to unlock your bootloader in case of flashing stock kernels.
Unlocking bootloader is necessary to flash custom built kernels.

4.4.2 can not be rooted (proper permanent root) !
You will have to install stock JB (4.1.2) via .kdz , then root, install CWM recovery, update or flash to stock KK (4.4.2), and then from recovery to root agin.
All you need is in this threads first page:

//the hole point so far is so u have a custom recovery so that u can "force install/patch" the root
4 - flash 4.4.2 kdz / or update via normal ways (LG update from phone, or from LG PC Suite )
5 - enter CWM Recovery, and apply the root for 4.4.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2754633
And u are done !
The phone cant be hardbriked (from what i know, and most moder phones cant be hardbiricked). If u softbreak it, try the steps where it crashed, untill will work. (i had to try to install the kdz 20 times - i belive i had some cable/power issues with the pc). Also, do all this with the phone battery fully charged !!! (in case it does go wrong, u have enough hours of battery left to make it work)

Download links work fine for me !
U can download czech or any country, doesn't matter.
After u install the .kdz, u must reset the phone (it formats the cache , davlik, data, etc....) (when u put 20A again, all the original user data was intact, because the phone was not reseted).
http://www.hard-reset.com/lg-optimus-l9-ii-d605-hard-reset.html ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkzJlLY3T1k )
After u install the CWM you will be able to clear cashe, data, etc .. from the CWM Recovery menu.
A bit of reading the forums, wouldn't hurt either .....
edit: also note that the first boot takes a lot of time .... if it is more than 20 minutes than something went wrong. Try a few times to be sure, and then reinstall.
Sure, I have read it, but now I have problem with booting. I reinstall it several times, but the logo of LG is there for a long time ( sound and animation are repeated) - I left it maybe 5 min (could not be turned off - only remove battery), when it didn´t work, aj flashed again v20. So I am going to try it once again with czech kdz and leave it more time. I will prey

[Q] How to boot to CWM without root?
[A]
1. Reinsert battery
2. Hold Power+Vol Up+Home for about ten seconds a white text appears, that says "Release all buttons" you have 500ms time if it reboots start from step 1 again.
YOU HAVE TO BE VERY EXACT! (If you once installed CWM you have it even when you flashed KK .zip)
or activate in settings, developer options, and then usb debugging. Connect with the pc and issue the command from there. I dont know the exact command, u shuld read the forum thread above... i belive is there (not sure). Anyway on this, google is a good friend.

Let me guide you to fix the problem reboot recovery using root by mohan
Note: Using Baseband AOD1

Does it work to any Baseband version of G530H?
Can you explain me what is that file is for, and what does it do. I know it will fix the auto-boot recovery problem but... how does it work, I mean what file will be overwrite.
Please

I guide you fix problem .
I just wanted to share their knowledge . but I do not understand why there was an error when you flash boot.tar
Hope you collaborate. I 'll help
I'd love to, but I'm sorry. I already flashed my stock firmware (saudi) even if I'm not from there or the phone...
My baseband version is G530HXCU1AOA2 ( SUADI ). I already rooted my phone with Kingroot, so no problem about auto-recovery...
BTW, Before you hit the post for some tutorial. make sure it's detailed so the others are not making any noob questions.
Don't make yourself busy with this, the others are already switched to kingroot.
My suspect of root by mohan is the recovery that isn't fit for everyone's phone. so if you want to continue fixing that I think you might also want to look at the recovery.img. It's like this, you flash the SU and the recovery BUT the recovery isn't perfectly fit for your baseband version so that's why everytime you turn on your phone It'll automatically promt you that the recover have a problem. same phone same recovery but not for your baseband version. That's why i'm asking you what does the boot.tar do to fix the issue? I don't get it and also why and how did you fix yours. Maybe you did something about the recovery.

[ROOT] How to root Samsung Galaxy J500F.

Hello guys...!
Recently I've successfully rooted Samsung Galaxy J5 using CF-Auto-Root-e53g-e53gxx-sme500h.zip (Root files of Galaxy E5)
So I'm sharing this to Galaxy J5 users
My phone build number- LMY48B.J500FXXU1AOFA
Warning : I'm not responsible for your device if bricked.. do it on your own risk.
Requirements: Your phone should be charged at least 40-50%
Make sure that the OEM unlock option in Developer option is enabled otherwise it will prevent flashing process.
Step 1: Download and Install Samsung USB Driver on your computer. If Samsung USB Driver is already installed on your computer then Skip this Step.
Step 2: Download and extract the root files on your computer. https://download.chainfire.eu/718/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-e53g-e53gxx-sme500h.zip?retrieve_file=1
Step 3: Now, Switch off your Smartphone.
Step 4: After switching-off the phone, you need to boot into Download Mode. To boot into download mode Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power button at same time for 5-8 seconds until download mode is active.
Step 5: In the Download mode you will be able to see a Warning Yellow Triangle Sign. In this situation you have to press the Volume Up key to continue.

Step 7: Once you have connected the Smartphone to the computer, Odin will automatically recognize the device and show “Added” message at the lower-left panel.
Step 8: Once your device is detected by Odin, click on the PDA button and select the CF-Auto-Root.tar file (you have downloaded this file in step#2).
Step 9: Now, click on the Start button in Odin to begin the Flashing.
Step 10: Flashing usually takes 30-50 seconds to complete the rooting process on your Samsung Galaxy J5 .Once Rooting process is completed you will be able to see a Green Box with Pass written on it in Odin. During this process Smartphone will re-boot automatically.
Step 11: Once you see, the Pass message in Odin, you can disconnect your Device from the computer.

Yes it will. Knox will detect changes in Rom and will not be activated.
So, You have lost your warranty ?
If you flashed original stock rom again, you would get warranty back .
Am I correct ?

Clean your junk files. That will help you get rid of the misc. files that mostly include caches, backups of apps etc.

Are you runnung lollipop 5.1.1 or marshmallow 6.0.1?
---------- Post added at 11:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 AM ----------
I suggest to root it with TWRP made by Nick Verse for 5.1.1 lollipop and TWRP made by Ganesh Varma for 6.0.1. Besides rooting your phone TWRP is going to be usefull for you in the future like partitioning your sd card or flashing some patches, even at flashing custom roms, kernels etc.
Hey, im having a problem and im hoping someone can give me advice.
I wanted to root the j500fn with android 6.0.1. in a similar way but there seems to be no according autoroot file (.md5) on the internet. There is one for this type of phone but only for previous android versions.
I tried some apps to root without a pc but they dont support it either. So is there something else i can try or should i just wait and hope they release one in the future ?

You could just search a bit more it's all over there man. Also if you look at the comment upon yours I already suggested the rooting way. Do it with twrp recovery by ganesh varma.
Sent from my SM-J500FN using XDA Labs
No it isnt ' all over there' and has it ever occured to you that for people with no experience at all this is like a maze?
Anyway thanks for your helpful comments.
