Due to limited unit sold, the development is not as strong as other brand.

Development has rather stagnated. Hopefully this will pickup soon.

Currently, a repacked CM build or modified stock are the only Roms 4 months after release. Community is anaemic at best.

Which phones have the best developer communities?

One+ 3.
I'm actually gonna wait one more month. If this doesn't pick up, I'll trade it for a One Plus 3.

Hi, this does not move anything and that makes me consider getting on with the Z

LG G2 community contribution

Discussion: "Is the device will be supported by the community?"
Hello,
Just to introduce: Android security researcher, Android developer and some things that are irrelevant for us
I am willing to buy new LG G2 , this is no question but a discussion.
The main reason why I have misgivings is : "Is there will be a community to develop with?"
I came from samsung smartphones as S2 and S4, those are known with a variety of community support for roms and other forms of open-source development. Is the G2 will be the same? this question is coming with every new smartphone.
Just to clarify, "Supported by the community" - roms, kernerls and so on.
In my opinion, smartphone is not only hardware or software but the community with it, specially in Android.
Is the G2 will be supported by the community?
What do you think?
This phone has bleeding edge internals. It will be a beast for a long time to come. Even when new flagship devices come out. Everyone who has one loves it. Battery life is great. Processor is pretty great. Screen is incredible. Camera is incredible. Everything about it will match any release for at least the Next 6-9 months. It got root and a debloated stock ROM in it's first week. I can pretty much guarantee it will continue to get support. I'd bet on it.

Support is pretty impressive for the time its been out. Once the N5 drops we'll see about aosp builds.
Given LG's sales figures - I see a lot of support in the near future. Pretty much every top device in the last year has had AOSP-based ROMs and a bit of development. (Given the bootloader is easy to get around.)
I think community strength will come by buying the phone early. And protecting from OTA. If people wait around they may stay shopping them patched against Loki. Its not a wise move to tarry.

Being an old device now, the development is slow but it justifies. Now that there are many new phones far better than 3C.
So sad to see the lone dev to leave.
Well Hassan looks like he's coming back.

not much development
hassan is doing a great job to keep this device alive.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Sony Xperia L1, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Sony Xperia L1 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.

I do dig this device, and it seems much higher end than the price tag would indicate. I do, however, have some questions for Sony, namely why isn't this device listed at all on the Developer World forums? Why isn't there a branch on github for this device? Why does it seem like the L1 is the bad son in the Sony smartphone lineup?
The best thing about this phone is that it's spurring me to dive into Android development, as I've been strictly relegated to MatLab and various engineering softwares. I miss coding because I'm a glutton for punishment, but I digress.
Of course I have no delusions about anyone from Sony actually reading this, as they are clearly in a hands full situation over on the Developer World beat, but in the event one of you drop in to test your smart spectacles, I have a penny for your thoughts, and that, friends, is just my $0.02 for the day.

The activity is overall underwhelming despite the amount of potential the Exynos 9810 has. There are plenty Custom ROMs for people’s needs, but they don’t feature any heavily customized Kernel that makes use of the true power of the SoC, and instead, they rely on a Samsung’s horrible work with the processor on the software side of things. And there still aren’t many good choices, most being port ROMs, they will inevitably have bugs hidden somewhere. Nobody can keep up with the amount of files in an OS and port all of it perfectly.
Custom Kernel development is dead. Only one developer is active on it (ykkfive, that I’m currently supporting).
While there are Kernels for each Android version of the phone in its European variant, there aren’t a lot of choices to meet people’s different requirements.
USA variant not worth talking about. Development is just dead. But the bootloader is locked so it’s not worth it to root to my eyes anyways.
The development scene is overall a 3/10 to me. Not healthy. This device deserves much more.
Well, still second to SM G531F development. As that is by far the worst I’ve ever seen

Question Redmi Note 10 vs 9S

Should I go for this device over the Note 9S? It has an AMOLED display with significantly higher maximum brightness, faster charging, better water resistance and stereo speakers. However, these factors are mostly negligible to me.
The only thing keeping me aloof from purchasing is performance. I'm not a gamer but I wouldn't be happy if the phone became sluggish after 2 years of use. Snapdragon 678 isn't really that convincing. What do you think? You can suggest another alternative below $180 too (no Huawei or Mediatek-powered phones because I would like to install a custom ROM)
