Flashing ????????

I just recently got the startrek or 3125 and i was looking at the wiki on how to cid unlock it but i follow all the instructions but still i eather get lost or dont know what to do anymore can anyone help
please
try flasing using micro sd card
make sure your micro sd card is formatted to fat32.
download surrealnetworksappunlock.cab and run on your phone.
download your rom of choice to your pc.
(open the rom with winrar and you should see 2 folders, 1 named ruu and 1 named sspl)
open the ruu folder and extract the file ruu_signed.nbh to your desktop.
open the sspl folder and extract the files jumpspl.exe, spl.nb and spl (shortcut) to your desktop.
copy the jumpspl.exe, spl.nb and spl shortcut to your root directory on your device (not the storage card)
on your desktop, rename the ruu_signed.nbk file to starimg.nbk
copy the starimg.nbk file to the root of your storage card.
run the spl shortcut (it is the 36 bit file) from your phones root directory, your will get a prompt that the phone is searching the sd card, then select that you want to replace the os. should only take 20-30 sec, restart the phone when it prompts you.
fyi, you can have multiple nbk images on your card, just create a folder for your images, make sure to name the images accordingly, ie.. starimgwm6 or starimgwm6.1 etc...
then when you are bored or feel the need to change your os, just rename the image to starimg, place it on the root of the sd card and swap os's to your hearts content.
you can use the same process to change radios as well.
Hi, I also just got a used 3125, but no data cable. I used the SD Flash method to update to the last official Cingular ROM with no problems.
I've wanted to flash to the wm6 or wm6.1 roms here, but without the data cable I thought I was out of luck. Does the method you describe above work on all of these "unofficial" ROMs?
Just wanted a better explaination of what you meant by:
download your rom of choice to your pc.
Click to collapse
The SD Flash thread specifically said only official ROM could be flashed from SD Card.
rom choice
has worked for me.
Great. I will try tonight.
I see that the two WM6.1 roms come only as "clean" versions... has anyone made a "Cingular OEM" version of wm6.1? If I use the "clean" ROM, what would I need to do to fully use the phone on Cingular network (USA)?
Lewnetoons - hows the PPC version on the 3125? Do you find youself using fakecursor alot, or only on PPC specific applications?
ppc version
It a little tricky to navigate sometimes, but not bad, after the first couple of days u get used to it, I really don't use it that much (the cursor that is)
I would suggest speeding up the cursor movement with the settings, it moves a little slow with the basic settings.
The nice thing is it runs most ppc and smartphone apps, a few don't work but most do with no problem.

thanks but this dint work i did everything correct and all it got to is were it looks in the sd card but the goes to the bootloader screen and it just stay there until i restart it
is there anyother way to upgrade it
storage card
not that I am aware of, if the renamed nbk file is on the root of the storage card it should work.
Just flashed to wm6.1 using the instructions in post #2. Worked exactly as stated. I thought I had to wait for a datacable to Flash, but this microSD card flashing is perfect.
Thanks!!

Android system recovery

When I go into the Android system recovery <2e>, I'm trying to reinstall packages but I get this error "E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory) Installation aborted". I have the update zip file stored on the sd card I get this error. Is there a work around this?
Are you sure the update.zip is in the correct location on your internal sd card? Stock recovery can only load update.zip from /sdcard/ which is the internal sd card (Default location of the Files app I believe). It can't be on the external sd card or in a folder.
That error means that the file doesn't exist at /sdcard/ so you probably have it in some other folder (or it's incorrectly named, it must be named update.zip exactly)
I can only get to the vibrant screen or the Android recovery screen. the update.zip file is compressed with a rar. extentionn. I can't get to the internal sd card because my laptop won't recognize my device and I can only get to the vibrant screen or Android recovery screen? any idea?
I think my only option to get to work if I can get to read off my external sd card?

uh there you have your source of problem "update.zip file is compressed with a rar. extentionn", it need to be in .zip format not rar. you may need to unrar it, and get the zip file from inside.
hope this help!!
you are luckier than I am, I am having tuff luck get in to stock recovery mode, with the buttons...aaaa hair falling off...
so i changed the file to zip and still did the same thing.
if i could only get read off the external sd card.

ClockWorkMod (CWM) Emergency MicroSD Card

Among the things I have done to increase my enjoyment of my G-Tablets was
to set up a ClockWorkMod Emergency MicroSD Card. I operated and modded by
G-Tablet for almost four months without even using NVFlash! I learned a bunch
of ways to mod and recover -- most of which are in STICKY files are the start
of the various Forums here.
But here is a trick I haven't decribed in detail -- my CWM Emergency MicroSD.
I have always tried to keep one of my G-Tablets as stock as possible, but there
are times you need CWM to repartition or wipe or mount something. To be sure,
you always can with copy from your PC to /SDCARD and install or recover that
way. But sometimes that doesn't work.
When the G-Tablet boots into recovery, it checks the internal memory first to
see if a recovery folder with a command file in it exists. If so, it uses it. If not,
then it searched /SDCARD2 (the microSD external card) to see if it is there and
if it has a recovery folder and update.zip on it.
The key to using a microSD in recovery in the external slot is that the command
file has to point to the /SDCARD2 location. You have to use an editor like
Notepad to go into the command file in the recovery folder and edit the
command line to change /SDCARD to /SDCARD2. Works well, but be sure when
you save to keep the file name as "command" (without the parentheses, of course).
And make sure your editor doesn't add a suffix like .txt to it either.
TO MAKE MY EMERGENCY CWM MiniSD:
1. Download a copy of ClockWorkMod v.8 to your PC. Don't use Rom Manager
and don't use any of the newer versions of CWM. If you do, near-bricks are in
site. (The one exception is that Roebeet has created a special version of this
same software to use with the new generation stock software VS may bring
out -- but you don't need to worry about that yet.)
2. Put you microSD into your PC or depending on what kind of reader/card you
have put it in the carrier/adapter and plug it into your PC.
3. If the download of CWM you have requires it, extract the files so that you
have a recovery folder and an update.zip file.
4. Copy the two files into the root directory of the microSD card.
5. Go into the recovery folder and edit the command file command line to read:
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
Then save the file making sure the name remains "command".
6. You now have a working microSD, but I do a couple of things more just for
my own use. I copy the update.zip to a second file named "cwmupdate.zip"
so I have a backup if I need it. And I copy the edited recovery folder (and
command file) to "cwmsdcard2recovery" as a backup because every time
you use the recovery folder the process deletes the command file and if you
want to use it again, you have to create it again.
7. The Emergency CWM microSD card will work unless something has messed
up your recovery partition -- so many times you can use it without having to
NVFlash back to stock.
Of course, if you create a card like this, you need to learn CWM and the menus
and the commands on them and how they work.
Also, the stock updates always write over CWM if it is on your system. If you
have this card, it becomes much easier to restore CWM if you need it.
I hope this helps.

P. S. -- Afterthought. If you don't have a microSD card and some kind of adapter for it
that allows you to work with it on your PC, you're missing a valuable troubleshooting
tool. It also allows you to load pictures, videos, music, etc. for use in the G-Tab.

Just to give everyone who needs this a chance to read it. Won't do this again.

Greetings to you, Rev.
I appreciated your effort to share useful knowledge. It was well written, clear and concise.
Question, just for confirmation: This process, if used with update-smb_a1002-3588-user.zip (or previously back-up image), will return the gtablet to stock. Much quicker way than nvflash. Is that correct?
mydave1,
If you are saying "Can I do a stock recovery with the microSD card by loading the ROM and a recovery folder (with command file edited to SDCARD2) in it)?
The answer is yes for the ROMs. I'm not sure you could do it with a backup image since they might not be in the update.zip format.
Stock recovery will work to recover or load and properly formatted update.zip so long as you aren't having boot loops or don't need to wipe factory data.
I ran two G-Tablets for almost four months testing everything I wanted to without nvflashing.

Any idea where to get cwm? specifically one that works with the 1.2 branch (e.g. Honeycomb)?
Thanks!

Nook Tablet is rooted, SD card is formatted ... how do I put CM 10.1 on it now?

I come from the Kindle Fire world and TWRP and know how to do that like the back of hand but I don't know how to attempt to put CM 10.1 on it. I followed these directions to root it:
***PLEASE READ BELOW***
YOU CAN ERASE THE FILES ON SD CARD WHEN YOU HAVE ROOTED THE NOOK.
Directions:
1. Download files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?bx6vj6nvfmc...
2. Open the files you just downloaded and and click on Win32DiskImager.
3. After you click on Win32DiskImager, you select extract all.
4. On desktop create a folder where you can put the root files.
5. Select browse on the window that opens after you selected extract all, then click on desktop and then the folder that you just created for these files.
6. Then new window will open again with the same files but Win32DiskImaager will look different. Click on blue folder icon and select the file NT16or8gbV47SDimagefile.
7. Below the device will be 2 letters. If they don't show up, that means you didn't have your Nook connected with usb cable. Click on the letter your sd card is.
8. Click on write and press yes.
9. After this watch video again and follow the steps after you completed making the sd card.
I successfully rooted it and it now has a new launcher and the play store but I want real Jelly Bean on it. I downloaded a CM 10.1 nightly but I don't know what to do from here. I don't even know how to get back to the recovery program that was installed on my Nook Tablet.
Can someone tell me how to get to recovery and how to flash CM 10.1 on my Nook?

Easiest way? Write this image file to an SD card. It's not internal, it runs from your SD card.

How do I do it so CM 10.1 is on the Nook and not on an SD card?

Problem with compression of files

Hello there
Recently I was try compress an image folder with the Huawei stock file manager. That folder has a "." I was added before the compression To keep them secret. For my bad luck I was changed my mind and I stop the compression before it's done.
Now I lost my folder and all of my image's. And the only way to see anything about that folder is by using es file manager but there is no folder anymore only a file with the name of folder and 0 of bytes.
I try to connect my phone to a PC and see the files in my SD card with no luck.
I can't believe that I lost all of my work so simple...
Any ideas was accepted
I was found the solution.
I have to just get out the SD card and put in card reader in my pc and magical the folder is ok. I was create a new folder and I transfer all that files of the original folder. Then I Get back to phone the SD card and woohoo all the files is ok now as before.
