How to restore the A2017U Axon 7 to stock B20 with TWRP and locked bootloader - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

How to restore the A2017U Axon 7 to functional stock B20 ( System,Wifi,ETC ) with TWRP and locked bootloader
1) Download rczrider's TWRP System backup
2) Extract the A2017UV1.0.0B20 folder on the desktop.
3) Copy the content of the A2017UV1.0.0B20 folder in /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/DEVICE_SERIAL_CODE_HERE/Stock
4) Download tenfar's B20 root kit and extract it on the desktop
5) Turn OFF the phone.
6) Hold both volume buttons and plug the USB cable in the phone. The screen should stay black when the cable is plugged in. (Make sure to have the Qualcomm 9008 drivers installed).
7) Open CMD in tenfar's B20 root kit folder and type: axon7root.exe -p (com port) (See tenfar's thread for help).
8) Once the boot.img and recovery.img are both installed successfully, hold volume up + power to restart the phone. You should arrive in TWRP.
9) Click on Restore->(Folder where the recovery is).
10) Make sure the System partition is checked and Swipe to restore.
11) Wipe Cache/Dalvik and then restart the phone. It should boot fine in Android.
12) BE PATIENT COMPLETE BOOT WILL TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES
NOTE : Step 3 - TWRP uses your device serial number to create /restore your backup , if you are not sure what it is just do a simple TWRP (Cache for sample) it will show now
Thanks to @DrakenFX, @tenfar, @rczrider and anyone else involved in this!

Wow thanks and the fixes are pouring in!

Not that I know of The only problem I had was that I had no WiFi (bluetooth and NFC still worked) and I fixed it by flashing the right boot.img file.

TWRP
So I have twrp installed already, should i just restore the folder? What do I do with the stock imgs?
Edit: Yes you do need to (without it wont pass ZTE Screen)
TDLR: When you go to wipe cashe. . .dont factory reset. Its a pain in the ass to fix.

I've pulled aboot, bluetooth, fbop, and modem. They can be found via the same link in my "untouched B20" page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/untouched-b20-boot-recovery-files-t3443818

Hello many thanks for your post.
All content inside the zip file (forum.xda-developers.com/axon...files-t3443818 ), has to be extract into /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/DEVICE_SERIAL_CODE_HERE/Stock?

Yes. If you want you could just do a small backup in TWRP of the boot and it will create the right structure for you, after that you just have to drag the files in the right folder.

I have same problem and I don't know what to do. When I tried to flash modem via fastboot i get error message. I can't find nviram files on phone . If you will find solution to fix that let us know. I think maybe stock image can help but for now isn't released yet.

How did you flash the boot.img? (through twrp, fastboot, etc). I'm having the same problem as well; my Wifi doesn't work after this process.

normally you'd use "fastboot flash boot boot.img" from bootloader mode.

I need to return phone. Does anyone have the stock US bootloader? The one I have called stock shows as A2017UV1.0.0B20_boot, but the Build Time is in Chinese and I don't recall this being the case when I got the phone.
Thanks

Following this guide, I was finally able to get my phone to boot again (not even sure what I did wrong in the first place, following a well-known guide).
However, I have no radio/modem functions.... no cell connectivity, no wifi, bluetooth, etc. I've tried flashing rczrider's untouched modem backup, but I get an error about flashing a critical partition not being allowed. Here is the error. Can anyone help?
Code:
c:\Users\chris\Desktop\Chris Phone\Axon>fastboot flash radio modem.bin
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'radio' (97280 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.148s]
writing 'radio'...
FAILED (remote: Critical partition flashing is not allowed)
finished. total time: 2.170s
**EDIT**
I flashed tenfar's original modified boot (the one that is now crossed out) just for giggles, and now my phone boots AND has wifi.

hi
i have an honor 7 from switzerland and i tried to install on him the PLK-AL10 6.6.1 - B651 full, ofcurse the instalation was stuck on 19% and i can't go to recovery,
what i can do to fix these?
thanks
update, i can't get the product ID (to find this, open the dialler and enter *#*#1357946#*#*) - cause i don't have dialer..and system....
what you advice me to do next?
First of all, I would guess you have a model PLK-L01, not AL10. Anyway, we need more information if we should help you. What does "can't go to recovery" mean exactly? What have you tried? What happens and what does not happen when you try? What happens when you connect the phone to a PC ?
Not sure if of any use, but try to connect the phone to a PC via USB Cable, then press volume UP and Power to boot into eRecovery, a second (and I think identical) recovery. Maybe that works? If you make any progress, try the Honor 7 MultiTool.
Let us know if you can make any progress.
yes its PLK-L01
i worked on the day with these and finally what i did is that i put the update.app into the micro sd card and than start the device + vol up+vol down and than the device probebly tooks the update.app that i add to the sd card and installed him correctly.
the case was that i probebly install at the first time locally version for AL10 and than i start MultiTool but the multitool request to open the bootloader in order to install the bootloader something that needs the productID that i can get if i have a dialer and enter *#*#1357946#*#* but i don't have any dialer since i don't have any system so...i don't know how, but it's worked as i wrote from the sd card
So you managed to install the UPDATE.APP package??
yes

Just don´t forget, if you root the device, you must first unroot, flash stock recovery.img and boot.img and THEN update to whatever stock ROM version available.
no i won't be root the device,

Hi,
I'm unsure if this method will work for you, but I also had "preloader Error message" in FlashTools trying to flash TWRP in Stock Rom 2016810 while trying to flash the Eragon ROM.
As the Stock ROM you are using (20171201) is kinda newer than stock 2016810 Im kinda assuming it should work the same.
In order for it to flash without errors, I did the following and worked fine :
Use FlashTools ver v5.1612 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424940027
Download your stock rom 20171201
https://mega.nz/#!atZAyKxb!i6jpNQNR_VZZ3nS79LhL2xi78WHx7XI4gKFllc8 RJKw
Then download TWRP_3.0.2.8.zip here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24727369092696060
Unzip all and and copy the "MT6755_Android_scatter" & "recovery.img" from TWRP_3.0.2.8 folder into the Elephone_P9000_20170112 Rom folder.
Then open Flash Tools - add the scatter file from the Elephone_P9000_20170112 Rom folder
Untick everything in flashtools except the recovery and then try to flash, hopefully it will work for you too. without errors '

Hi, I think this maybe to do with the new preloader etc..
I read this in the thread for TWRP for Elephone P9000 3.0.2-8:
1. load scatter.txt in earlier post.
2. select preloader, lk and boot imgs, location of these from the stock 20160810 ROM.
3. select recovery, location of TWRP img.
4. unselect everything else.

So maybe Unzip the 20171201 Rom, copy TWRP scatter & recovery.img to this folder, open flash tools and select recovery and point to recovery.img
But also select preloader, lk and boot img (double check they are pointing to corresponding files from the 20171201 ROM
Again, I am unsure if that will work but as I noticed the above post in the TWRP thread, thought it maybe relevant to your issue
PS: Windows 10 can be awkward with splash tools at times, I have windows 10 but in order for it to work - I have to press the Download in SplashTools, kinda count to 5, then hold vol + and then attach USB to my phone and it works fine
If your device already rooted, you can also install flashyfi and flash the .img file.

I've wasted countless hours trying to get spf to work with my windows 10 machine. Your solution worked like a charm, the flashing was successful (managed to get the process to work when before I was getting only preloader errors), however I still don't have twrp but the standard android recovery. Have you got any other solution that I should try? Cheers.

Have you tried pressing power and then keep finger pressed on vol up to go straight to TWRP recovery and then flashing a new ROM in TWRP ?
I didn't do that as I didn't have another rom saved in my phone. What I eventually managed to do was flash the official nougat via spf tool. I'm saying eventually because this piece of crap windows 10 didn't want to make the connection even with the volume up button. When I was going to give up and order a new phone, it connected and now I am happy even though I don't have twrp nor root, but not going to risk it again. Thanks again for your help though, greatly appreciated.

Mate 10 Pro Bricked

Hi guys, long time ago, I bricked my phone (hard brick i think)
I was trying to install exposed or root, not sure what I was doing back then,
then the phone always in loop when I try to run it, there's only two thing that I can access to, eRecover (useless) and fastboot.
all I know about my phone is BLA-L29
I tried to download and use fastboot to flash system.img, I did that, but nothing happen.
I'm so bad at this, I have no idea what I'm doing, I searched a lot, but apparently I'm stuck.... help me out please. thanks

You should try the DLOAD method, but you must know the cust (c432, c636, etc.) too, not only the model (in your case BLA-L29).

Try with this fastboot command : fastboot oem get-build-number
Or check on the box. You could also try checking with IMEI/SN on Huawei's website.

Good, I'm downloading BLA-L29 8.0.0.129(C185) update.zip file, I'll extract it and copy the UPDATE.APP file to a folder named dload in the root of a memory stick, plug it in a USB Type C to USB Type A
then turning on the phone by pressing volume up + volume down + power button until Huawei logo appears.
and that's it, hopefully everything goes well.

Just drag the "dload" folder into the root of otg storage, then proceed with the buttons combo.
Better to format the usb storage as exFAT

Probably this firmware will work for you - > https://androidhost.ru/7oq <- read the instructions inside the firmware. You will also found infos about DLOAD here on Mate 10 forums.
Just drag the "dload" folder into the root of otg storage, then proceed with the buttons combo.
Better to format the usb storage as exFAT

Thanks, I'm downloading yours as we speak,
I've downloaded this one:
http://huawei-update.com/firmware/6343/huawei-mate-10-pro/bla-l29
but after I tried the combination, I got massage says "Software Install failed"
is it because of my copy? or was it something else?

I just downloaded your file, I dragged and dropped the dload folder into a formatted USB stick (exFAT) but still, gives me the following error: (Software Install Failed)
maybe worth mentioning, I did (a year ago) install TWRP then I uninstalled it, does this have to do with anything?

Probably you have a "hibrid" firmware, what version did you tried to flash with fastboot?

You mean a year ago? I don't really remember, but if you mean now, I tried this post:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76060051&postcount=10
it doesn't say which version
and for some reason my phone is unrecognized when I enter Fastboot. I tried multiple drivers, but I always end up with usb not recognized by windows

Try this :
1) Download BLA-L29 C185 8.0.0.129 firmware from Firmware Finder
2)Extract system, kernel and recovery_ramdisk from update.app
3)Flash the extracted images with fastboot
4) Try again with the DLOAD method
P. S. You could also try to do a Factory Reset before step 4.
Edit: Windows 10 might require a fix for the drivers, iirc. Otherwise you could try a Linux Live setup (you can find one on XDA, especially designed for ADB and Fastboot use).

I have two problems now :/
Extracting system.img takes for ever, as I'm writing now, it's still extracting, even tho the bar is full.
the second problem is, I couldn't find "recovery_ramdisk"
there is "RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img" and there is "RAMDISK.img"
which one is it?

So I flashed 4 files:
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
fastboot flash ramdisk RAMDISK.img
fastboot flash kernel KERNEL.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
using the Live Linux you mentioned.
Now I'll go back to the dload and see if it works

Hello, I dont speak russian but you can search around google for a firmware file and then use ofp extractor and SP Flash tool to recover.

I tried 1000 different ways nothing works, I need a backup file from the same phone as mine) can you extract the backup from your phone and download it for me.????

I don't think you find a specific oppo_custom for your device.
I uploaded this collection here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ui-function-please-help.4420657/post-86750983 you can flash it and try booting one by one.
You can use mtk-client to write them onto your device, and take a backup from the one you actually have.

I tried everything one by one, nothing comes out, the touch screen does not work, there is no wi-fi

Strange, I have RMX2151, at least 3 of them worked.
Keep in mind that, you have to flash one and try to boot, either to recovery or to system, to check if the touch is working, while you are not able to boot to any of these modes, you couldn't check that, I mean, an oppo_custom file can get your touch, to work again, but any of them have the ability to let device booting.
Baseband and Wi-Fi issues are fixed, flashing any stock RUI2 ROM.
Khanbeats said:
now I can go into the recovery and it almost loads into the menu but crashes on the yellow realm logo, wi fi has earned but the touchscreen does not work, what should I do next ???

Well, be sure, that now like you can boot to recovery, to try, methodically, one by one of the oppo_custom images, and see if the touch can work. Be sure to back up the oppo_custom, that actually you have, that at least allowed you to boot to.
Apart those oppo_custom, that appeared with "download not complete..." warning, those that didn't boot at all.
One tip, you can realize that the brightness is maximized, when the oppo_custom works.
Did you flash a RUI2?

rui 2 что это такое и как прошить?

English is required.
RUI2 is Android 11, C07,09,15,16, there are many versions. Like any ofp ROM can be flashed through SPFT, I didn´t see an ozip to flash through recovery
Use rui1 ofp and flash with bootloader unlocked.

<Moderator Edit>: Quoted post removed since I've deleted it.
1. setup device after reboot
2. stop going after me because you bricked your device and randomly switching up languages.
not my fault :/
These modifications are not related the kernel correct? This Pixel Experience ROM works on top of the existing kernel install? As far as I've seen the kernel source was never released for the rmx2111.

If you emailed realme kernel open source team, they would tell you they will be releasing kernel of RMX2111 on Q4, 2022.
Looks like this didn't come true unfortunately. There is hope. I see they created repositories for the Realme 7 pro but they are empty.
Edit: The realme 7 pro folders are now populated!

sir, realme 7 Pro is a complete different phone compared to a realme 7 5G...
the naming sounds like it's the same series since they look similar, but the inside is different
