Any update on Quick Charge 2.0 for NA honor 5x? - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

There was talk of working on a kernel to enable quick charge when I posted in July.

Nope. Qualcomm QuickCharge is still not supported on the Honor 5x. However, users (including myself) do see a huge difference in using a 2Amp charger, such as the Anker Chargers.

There is definitely a different while using the 2A charger. I used this Sunday, borrowed from one of my friend, and was able to charge from 16% at 10.16 AM to 100% 12.15 PM (less than 2 hours)

My normal charger (that came with 5x) also charges in the same time... So the 2amp charger doesn't make any difference??

well it takes almost 3 hours with stock charger for most of the users on honor 5x unless they use 2A charger

It takes 2hr with stock charger (for me) and I am happy with it

2hrs top with stock charger,
using samsung 2A charger made no difference.
bt while using the phone and doing heavy tasks while charging then 2A charger does better that the stock one.

The charger which Im using is the stock charger which came with the box. Its a 2A charger.
It takes 2 hrs for me to charge from 5% to 100% by 2 hours.
Hope so everyone is having same kind of charger as I have.

Agreed. I got a 1A charger for mine. Been using an Anker 2-port 2A charger for a few months now and it charges very well.

I enquired on this, that Amazon has mentioned on site for 2A charging, to Amazon when I purchased in Feb, and they had this checked from Seller and Manufacturer both and confirmed they are providing only 1A charger but Honor 5X supports 2A charging. you must be lucky to get 2A

All S801 phones support Quickcharge 2.0, which allows them to charge of currents upto 3A.
Not sure of S800 devices tho.

I think this is manufacturer and kernel specific.
How quickly would they charge with 3A...
I use 1A through magnetic and it's lightening quick

3A would be twice as fast as the stock wall charger and if yours is 1A, it'll be thrice as fast.

Li-ion batteries are smart, so are the chargers. If possible check reviews about whichever 3A charger you pick first. Battery won't get damaged because the chip they use will prevent charges heavier than they accept. Its all about if anyone's willing to spend the extra money to perform this experiment and see if the charger will actually make a real world difference in charge time or not.
those things are just huge!

I'm thinking about buying one... would be nice in some situations to charge with full 3A but i still think it's bad for battery longetivity.

It's actually not that easy, usually a battery charges to 80% in half the charging time and to 80% out of that 80 in a quarter of the charge time. Guess what I'm trying to say is that charging is not linear, meaning the equation is more complicated

Why'd you limit it? Secondly the only way to find out is noticing the charge time I think.

Faster you charge lithium batteries, you reduce the number of charge cycles. I'd rather charge it slower, especially because you can't change the battery.

True,
I have multiple chargers, in the car I have 1.2A (Sony original car charger), in work I have 2.0A ( Samsung original charger )... but near the bed I have 0.35A (Sony bluetooth headphone charger)... while sleeping I don't need fast charging so I went for the lowest possible power...
please dont try high amperage chargers... might burn the chip!

Quick Charge Support?

Does it support Quick Charge 2.0/3.0?
Based on the specifications off the Chinese website, supports only 5v/2a. Not sure hardware, software or licensing limitation.

I have bought a MiPad 4 (3+32).
If the QC3.0 charger is used, it will only up to about 12W. It still needs 2.5 hours.
The tablet does support QC 3.0 but the included brick does not.

Do you have any device that would measure the voltage and amperage??
It would be great to get the actual reading...
I have one Mi Pad 4 (3Gb/32Gb Wi-Fi) and with the battery at 20%, charging in a QC3.0 port, with the screen off it went to 1.85Ah at 5.05V. It was around 9Wh. So i can tell that it probably will go to 10Wh maximum and so it has probably only support for QC2.0.
I used a UGreen wall dual charger (one port QC3.0, the other is 2.4Ah) and the cable also a UGreen nylon that supports fast charge. They are found very easily in ebay and I strongly recommend this brand for charging (value/quality). For measuring I also used a very common usb tester that goes up to 5.1Ah/30V found also in ebay.
I can tell that with that same charger and cable, my Le Max 2 goes to a maximum of 24Wh(!) (around 8V/3Ah) when it was around 10-20% battery. So I can tell that the charger is at least outputing that power.
I confirm that no matter if used original charger or QC3 from Mi6 it can't charge 2-100% faster than 3 hours (usually 3h20m). Besides it doesn't show any notification about fast charging so this function must be locked.
IMO this is the biggest flaw in this tablet and I hope Xiaomi will do the same like with its Mi A1. The phone was released without the QC support, but it got unlocked with the Oreo update.
Xiaomi AD07ZM charger show 5V / 1.9A on USB tester with my Mi Pad 4 LTE at 40% battery.

using various chargers and cables, both with miui 9 and 10.
I can say that MI PAD4 - DOES NOT have QC. it uses regular 5V/2A.
on xiaomi mi6, which clearly stated to suppoer QC, you have a sign of 'lightning bolt' on the top, as well as on the lock screen.
Mi-Pad DOES NOT.
is this limitation in hardware or easily bypassable using magisk?
coz the Plus version got at least QC2.0 enabled.
I have an own QC adapter (not from Xiaomi). When I plug in my Mi6 it shows "fast charging". But on my MiPad4 LTE it doesnt say anything about that... So I also would say, that the normal MiPad4 has no QC support.. Maybe the PLUS has it..

that's what the specifications say, BUT mine does definitely not support any kind of QC, neither 2.0 nor 3.0. I have tried it with a variety of QC2/3 chargers and cables that all work fine for QC (QC3.0 in this case) with my Mi Note 3 ("Jason"). On the Mi Pad 4 plus it does NOT quick-charge: neither does the Pad show any indication that it does, nor do my indicator cables (that have different color LEDs for normal or quick charging), nor is the charging time significantly reduced when using a QC charger versus a "normal" charger.
So, in theory it supports QC, in practice it doesn't for whatever reason. It may be supported by the chipset, but may be blocked by the kernel or MIUI.
I can confirm it does not support QC.

Hi,
I got an MI PAD 4 imported to India and unfortunately lost the charger .
I got know NI PAD 4 needs a 5v 2a charger. Can i use the Mi India standard 2A charger as the voltages in india and China are quite same .
It is is tough to find an equivalent adapter for the MI PAD 4 here in India .
Could you please help me with any suggestions .. i am currently charging it through USB ports in my laptop but the tablet is nearly dead.
look forward to your response.

Input (line) voltage doesn't really matter for this kind of chargers, they do support a wide range of input voltage. What matters is the output voltage. If it is 5V there is no problem using that.

Will an EU to UK plug adapter interfere with the charging speed at all?
I like the look of this Anker one to be able to plug my Huawei watch charging cable into that too and other things when on holiday (going to Nice on Tuesday and the interchangeable plug will be handy!)
wow 35€ only for the charger? I've already ordered the 27w one from xiaomi with the 20w wireless charger and a usb c cable for 25€ let's hope that it actually arrives.

How Do I Know If My Mi 9 is Charging at QC 4.0 Speeds

Hi Guys
Just purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9 along with a razer charger QC 4.0 charger and was wondering if the phone gives any indication that you are charging at QC 4.0 speeds.
Download "Ampere" to see at what rate your phone charges.
Thanks just downloaded the application.

Just the charging speed, QC4+ should be around 4A, if I'm not mistaken? Haven't checked, but I think that's about what you should get. My Mi 9 charges at 3.3A with the stock adapter.

I bought the Belkin QC4+ charger and it seems to charge the same at the stock Chinese model (8/128) adapter.
Mid 4000s mAh @4.4v
Take it for what you will. I bet anything is better than the Global brick I guess.
I know it's working because my phone charges absurdly fast.
Look for rapid charging on lock screen
Or charge turbo on charge animation
I am using the Hama QC4+ charger, no Charge Turbo and no Charge Quick/Fast displayed.
Wonderful charger
It does charge kinda quick, and the text shows Charging Fast, but that's it. Disappointed.
Could always use one of these, they're fairly cheap and quite usefull for checking port/usb output
or you simply look at the GSI lockscreen which integrates usb meter
shows volts, ampers, temperature, battery% and speed status

Take it for what you will. I bet anything is better than the Global brick I guess.

The charger that comes with the Chinese model should be a qc4+ one.

This was not my experience at all. I bought that belkin 4.0+ and it averaged at 2200... I don't think the phone does Charge Turbo or even Fast on 4.0 / 4.0 + because it isn't really a QC 4 rated phone. Offical Xiaomi chargers that do 27 w are running at QC 3.0 (look closely at the brick) they do however have an extra mode which makes the QC 3.0 charge TURBO... here is the confusion I beleive after buying a Hama 4.0+ and this Belkin 4.0+ you said works but doesn't charge Turbo.

I got this app. But it gives me a wrong information. I checked via real usb voltmeter. Recording the app charger itself is charging less than 2000 mah. But I connected this charger to wireless charger and I gave almost 4000. Who is know please explain me, how can I get more from wireless charger than charger itself?
By the way charger I bought from AliExpress, original Xiaomi 27w charger

I am using the Hama QC4+ charger, no Charge Turbo and no Charge Quick/Fast displayed.
Wonderful charger
It does charge kinda quick, and the text shows Charging Fast, but that's it. Disappointed.

Question 45 Watt Charging

Does the Samsung S23 Ultra ONLY accept Samsung Genuine 45 watt charger for Super Fast Charging 2.0 aka 45 watt charging ?!
BTW does anyone know any good 5A cables ?
Welcome to XDA.
Probably as it helps when charging troubleshooting; best to have two. It's on Amazon for $16.
I'm still using my original 25w brick/cable for my N10+, very long lived. Will charge even with 60 VAC input, it does well. It's not necessary though as long as the 3rd party charger complies with the protocols...
Samsung should of at least included a 25 w brick...

It needs to be able to have a PPS mode that can deliver 10 Volts at 4.5 Amps. Most chargers only deliver a maximum of 3A in PPS mode.

The Anker 313 Ace 45W charger does fast charging using the Samsung cable and is the 2.0 version required.
Try Anker 313
It can charge with 40W the S23 Ultra
But the diffrenz in total to 100% are only 8 Minutes to the 25W Charger

samsung 45 watt max PPS 4.05 A.
not 4.5A.
This one has the requisite charging tech needed.

You can check the Overview and at the bottom find the quick start guide which will show you what the charger supports. It's got 4.05 amp PPS.
BTW, does anyone know any good 5A cables ?

That 4.05A is for 11V, not for 10V. If it was 10V at 4.05A, that would be 40.5 W not 45 W...
And the S23 Ultra itself has 10V 4.5A as its rated maximum rated listed in it's settings.
I have seen 43 watt charging on the device. Only available at low level like 15% battery. It'll taper off once the battery gets charged up

Your Samsung.com spec is talking about the charger, not the phone?
And if the phone can only accept 10V and the charger can only output 4.05A which is 40W, why is it called 45W charging?
