Thanks for posting this. I "just" returned mine yesterday! Even though the promo is supposed to start today it says you will still get another $75.00 if you were already getting $25.00.

Is it Samsung offering this only or are the carriers offering this as well?

Looks like Samsung via Carriers and Retail outlets. Here's Samsung's Notification.
My AT&T store told me today that I'd get $25.00 then another $75.00. Samsung is footing the bill for everything including refund of the Notes and All accessories (even non-Samsung accessories, I got a refund for the screen protectors I bought).

If that's all they are doing then they will probably lose a lot of customers. This has been nothing but a headache for the last month. Getting $100 to change to a phone that will be replaced by a new model in February doesn't seem like much to me. Especially when they still expect you to pay full price for it.

When the N7 came out, I swapped my N5 for it via a Next trade-in. When the N7 was re-recalled this week, I swapped it for an S7e, which is the closest alternative.
But the S7e, though it has some improvements (especially IP68), is in other ways a downgrade from the N5: smaller display, excessively curved edges (corrected in the N7), no stylus. Even after the $100 refund, I've paid hundreds of dollars to switch from the N5 to the S7e, which I would never have chosen to do in the first place.
Therefore, I think AT&T has an obligation to reset my installment balance and my upgrade-eligibility to what they were before I traded in my N5. The current situation amounts to a forced purchase, for hundreds of dollars, of a product I never agreed to buy.

Return your note 7's and buy a axon 7 or oneplus 3.. you won't regret it!

What others would regret depends on their own needs and priorities.
For reference, AT&T's exchange/return policy is here:

I'm extremely annoyed like many of you. All I can say is that at this point, I hope there's a class action lawsuit coming, because I WILL be jumping on that. No to make money or anything, but to recover my losses.

Anyway, AT&T does not sell the Axon 7 or Oneplus 3, and is only offering an exchange, not a return, on the Note 7s:

Are you sure they are not accepting returns? It's my understanding you can return it but will not receive the exchange incentive.
My question is when does the deal expire? Good until the S8 in FEB17?

Are you saying att is not taking returns and not giving back refund?

Sorry, I was mistaken. Halfway down the page they do talk about returns. I've revised my post accordingly.
I'd be interested to hear from people who Next-upgraded to the AT&T Note 7 and then returned it for a full refund. Did that work?

Yes I had the Note 7 on Next upgrade , I had the actual replacement one, I never had the original one and I had it since 23rd of sept. and returned it this monday the 10th and they took it back with no questions asked, refunded my 52.00 for tax, waived the 45.00 restock fee and reinstated my upgrade i had on my line, only thing I didn't back get was the 20.00 upgrade fee for the Next plan.

I paid cash for mine on the release date. Customer Care just said I am able to return it to a store for a full credit and close my account if desired. Now I need to look into my options. I'm not happy with AT&T in general. If I move to another carrier I must have WiFi calling. I do have a microCell if I remain with AT&T. I may just go back to my Note 3 until February (S8 release).
It gets a little sticky because of the S2 watch I got as part of the deal. I will walk away with a 256GB SD card. Decisions Decisions. What a mess this is.

Sprint Galaxy Note 3 discussion (Info, accessories, colors)

Folks who are getting the Galaxy Note 3 on Sprint who aren't being scared off by the FUD being spread in the triband thread, here's our own discussion topic!
Now that Sprint has officially announced the Galaxy Note 3 launch on October 4, let us discuss! It's kind of strange they haven't set up pre-orders yet. This leads me to believe they probably won't. With a little over a week left until the launch, it appears that those who order online won't be able to get it until October 7th/8th. Also heard rumors that Sprint won't have the pink option or 64GB version available. It sucks but oh well. At least 32GB is the base model this year!
What color are you getting?
Are you getting the Galaxy Gear smartwatch too?
Accessories?
-I'll be getting black, since white has LED light bleed.
-No Galaxy Gear
-I have two bumper cases (clear and white/black) and a crappy S-style tpu kickstand case with a few screen protectors. I'm not sure If I will get the flip cover yet.
Are you guys excited? I sure am!

I bought my SGII Epic 4G Touch through them back in 2011. I bought it for the same price as directly from Sprint while convincing them to give me a discount equal to the activation fee (~$36) - essentially to "waive" it. I also accumulated some best buy reward zone points
Best Buy is a fine option when purchasing on contract if you can find a deal. I'd probably look elsewhere for off-contract and full-retail purchases, though.

I have been doing a time analysis of how (email, calendar, social media, video's & gaming, music) and where (location) I use my phone the most etc..
I have come to the conclusion that the places where I happen to use my phone the most and during its most intense use of bandwidth also happens to be the places in which I have access to great wifi signal. I know this isn't how most folks use their phones but its really how I use my phone and when I don't usually have a great signal. I just pop out my mifi and I am having a great signal once again. Is it irritating that Sprint dropped the triband? Yup and Yup. Is it a deal breaker for me to go to a slower and smaller phone? Nope and Nope..
The things that I am more interested in hearing about is
What Dac are they using for the audio processor?
Can I use usb 3 as a digital for my audio amp?
What will the transfer speed be on my USB3 HD which is running a 500gb SSD
Battery life
Has anyone been able to use a 128GB sd card in the unit, and have it recognize all 128GB?
What screen protector works best in direct sunlight.

just so you know. I havn't had a problem with best buy increasing price for products but if that is the case, they price match with the carriers. they also give you the lower price for pre-orders. for example if you order an item and its fairly certain it will retail for say $50 and then release rolls up and it is $60 they will sell it to you for the $50. you may just have to mention it to the employee checking you out but the managers know whats up.
Can't link to BB price match due to new user =) but google "Best buy price match" and it will be the first link
I have had to mention the PM once and the employee just had to get the manager to sign off on it which he had absolutely no prob doing. took maybe 2 min after I had mentioned it. then the lady behind me did the same thing because she was there for the same product for her son I would assume. My experience was not that bad considering I did a number swap with my girlfriend. Essentially she got my S3and I took her EVO 3D to do the One up. I did the number swap Friday the 4th so I actually couldn't do the One up til the next day. Went in at 9 was out of the store before 9:15. Compared to my S3 the N3 is a beast all its own and I love it.

Note 3 versus Galaxy Mega
Hi, I'm thorn between the Note 3 and the Mega. I know the Note 3 has a faster processor, more memory, ram and better screen resolution. currently I have the Note 2. I need the biggest screen I can get. don't use the Spen too much so no need of it. Anyone have tested the Mega?
A heads-up that Amazon just got the black model in stock -- I got an email saying that my earlier order has shipped, and it shows 2 more in stock currently. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Black-Sprint/dp/B00FJ8WBJG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1
Price is $299.99 for an upgrade, and they don't charge tax to most states (including IL), plus my Chase Freedom card is offering 5% cashback from Amazon purchases this quarter... so my bottom line is $285... pretty good, I'd say.

Just a heads up to anyone considering moving from the HTC One to this phone should do it. I loved the speakers on the One but the battery life, screen size, and expandable storage are completely worth the switch. I'm really loving this phone and I use the stylus and S-Notes way more than I ever thought I would.

Ok... I was eligible for an upgrade so I went to Amazon and picked the Note 3 for Sprint. Sero obviously isn't a plan Amazon offers, so I chose one of the plans they do offer and ordered the phone. The phone showed up the next day. Before turning it on, I called Sprint and said I bought a new phone and want to activate it, but stay on the same plan. They said no problem and activated it. Done.
Two years ago when I was eligible for an upgrade that was the method Amazon told me to use if I wanted a plan they didn't offer. Just in case it didn't work, I didn't turn on the phone until I had confirmation from Sprint it would work.

Note 3 vs HTC One Max?
I picked up my Note 3 on 10/5 and have 14 days to return. I'm thinking about checking out the HTC One Max but the non-removable battery may be a deal breaker for me.
Note 3:
My Cons:
Call quality is so bad
I rarely use the SPen (only to show off) so it's useless
hardware power button moves around alot (super minor)
WatchON and My Magazines sometimes pops up with it not responding (I don't use them)
My Pros:
Screensize/resolution is AMAZING (I came from an S2 Lol)
Battery life: WOW. I stream Pandora all day, utube, txt/emails, and I can still get about 24 hr usage with my HEAVY use.
SD Card slot
Removable battery: Awesome for traveling
Charging: WOW. charges from 0-100 in about 2 hours and 30m
HTC One Max(rumored specs) :
My Cons:
Battery: Non-removable battery???? May be a deal breaker for me.
Size: It was looking to be 5.9 view-able but now they think it will be the same 5.7 as our note 3? The phys size looks like it might be half an inch or so bigger then the Note 3. Will be disappointed if the view-able screen is 5.7 instead of 5.9.
My Pros:
If screen-size will be 5.9, this will put me one step closer on making me want to switch.
Similar battery life as the note 3
SPEAKERS!!! I'm a media person, and stereo/front speakers might push me over the top to switch.
Just minor things that I've though about. Please let me know of your thoughts!
10/18 will be the last day I will be able to undo my note 3 purchase with no penalties (besides the $35 restocking fee). I think the HTC One Max will come out on 10/15 as rumored so I'll be trying it in store to get a better feel of which phone suits me best.

Advantage to buying 6P at BestBuy: $99 device replacement plan + $0 deductible

After deciding that I wanted to make the jump from my 5X to the 6P, I spent some time trying to figure out if it made more sense to go directly through Google or through BestBuy, instead. While in the store, I stumbled across what appears to be a big advantage to buying the phone at BestBuy over ordering from Google with Nexus Protect. If you purchase BestBuy's 1 year $99 accidental damage protection plan, they will replace your damaged phone with absolutely no deductible. Meanwhile, Nexus Protect requires a $79 deductible for replacement.
The mobile department sales person and I stumbled across this when I asked for the details on their damage replacement plan. When she said there was $0 deductible, I figured that was just too good to be true. She pointed out that when a phone is purchased through a carrier the T&C's stipulate a $70 - $199 deductible, depending on the price of the phone. However, she said that this did not apply to unlocked phones and said that instead, they are considered the same as an "appliance or TV". The replacement plans on appliances or TV's don't require a deductible for replacement. We pulled in a manager who agreed that there is no deductible on unlocked phones.
Now, we all know that retail stores are great about making promises they don't intend to keep and then changing their tone when push comes to shove, so take this with a grain of salt. With that said, the manager assured me that if I came in with a broken phone, they would replace it with the exact same phone/SKU at no additional cost and gave me his cell number to use in case I find myself in that position and run into any issues while he isn't there.
Here's a breakdown of the difference between BestBuy's damaged device replacement plan and Google's "Nexus Protect" plan:
Nexus Protect:
- $89 up front cost
- $79 deductible
- Overnight replacement
- 2 year plan
BestBuy Replacement Plan:
- $99 up front cost
- $0 deductible
- Replacement provided same day or shipped to you within 1-2 business days, if out of stock
- 1 year plan
I figured I'd share this information for anyone who may also be figuring out the best purchase method with the intent on getting accidental damage covered. Do with the info as you will.
Nexus Protect:
- $89 up front cost
- $79 deductible
- Overnight replacement
-2 year plan
BestBuy Replacement Plan:
- $99 up front cost
- $0 deductible
- Replacement provided same day or shipped to you within 1-2 business days, if out of stock
-1 year plan
Fixed it for you.
Blah! I meant to add that. Thanks for adding it in. The 2 year plan will be a deal maker for some. Others, like myself, only keep a phone for a maximum of 12 months before changing to something different, so the 2 year plan isn't a selling point for me.
Also you left a big part out Best Buy won't cover LOST OR STOLEN DEVICES!
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Neither of them will. Thats an interesting plan though. I still prefer google for customer service if something goes defective. but this makes it a much closer choice especially because you can buy the device in store and potentially take advantage of in store deals.

Yeah, Google's customer service has always been great. But the idea of just taking the device to the store, 15 minutes away and potentially getting a replacement the same day, is quite appealing.
Fully agree. If you have a store with good staff and good management, take advantage of it.

This is BEST BUY we're talking about, right?
The one thing that is missed is that Nexus Protect is a better plan since the up front cost is lower AND it covers for two years.
In year #2 what do you do with the BB plan?
Cost is only lower if you never have to use it. If you need to do a claim Nexus protect loses because of the deductible. Year 2 may be irrelevant as OP doesn't seem to care to keep their device past one. I personally got it thinking year two would be a good selling point when I sell the device and could bump the price up a bit.

Yup
I was speaking to sn0warmys point about him having a good relationship with the people at his location. That helps.
In general I'm weary of BB staff as a lot of them don't have good product training so a warranty return can come with quite the hassle.

If you CAN'T get extra when you sell it, or lose it, or don't care, you can get a pro-rata refund if you cancel it (as long as there have been no claims).

I personally got it thinking year two would be a good selling point when I sell the device and could bump the price up a bit.

Interesting. Good to know

How many replacements do you get in that year? With Nexus protect you get 2 a year so up to 4 over the two years.
I don't think so. I think Nexus Protect is 2 replacements over 2 years.

I have the V20 and it still technically has $476 on the device payments, but I get a $28/month credit on my account which will pay off the device in the next year and a half. I contacted Verizon directly and asked If I can give the phone to a friend or sell it when I buy the Note 8 and they said Yes as long as the phone keeps getting paid for with the $28/month credit.

Going to be an iPhone 5 or s5 for about $75 and do this. Does it matter if the phone is actually on Verizon or not? Or just a working phone?
Thanks for sharing! I noticed the unlocked version is less expensive than carrier specific. I've never gone the route of unlocked - does anyone know of advantages/ disadvantages of going this route? I'm assuming the updates would come from Samsung rather than carrier but, again, unlocked is foreign to me. Thanks, in advance!

Unlocked meaning you can pop any sim in and it'll work - no carrier bloatware - only samsung's P). No commitments, no contracts.

Hi! How can I help you today?
You
I want to know if the previous Note 7 owners who were forced to turn in their phones for other phones will be allowed to upgrade to the Note 8.
Verizon
Welcome to Verizon Wireless Sales chat! With whom do I have the pleasure of chatting today?
You

Verizon
It's very nice to meet you, Stephen!
Verizon
Any customer can upgrade to the new Note 8!
You
We were told that if we turned in our Note 7 after the whole exploding battery incident that we would be allowed to upgrade when the new one came out. Is that going to be honored?
Verizon
There shouldn't be any issue!
Verizon
Do I have permission to access your account so that I can better assist you?
You
Yes
Verizon
Which line are we wanting to upgrade?
You
(Blanked by me)
Verizon
You are definitely eligible to get the Note 8 however you still have 17 payments left on the current phone.
Verizon
That would go the same as if you still had the Note 7 on your account.
Verizon
You would have to pay off that balance in order to get a new phone.
You
I know that. They told us that wouldnt affect us and they would waive that. So in other wor4ds Verizon lied again. They told us we wouldnt have to do that. I guess I will be changing carriers since I cant trust Verizon to keep their word.
You
I didnt change phones by choice. I was forced by your company to do so. I was assured by verizon that Note 7 owners would be upgraded at no penalty when the Note 8 came out. So you company lied again.
You
As long as we got another Samsung phone we would be able to upgrade at no penalty to us.
You
This is beyond messed up. Now I am stuck with a phone I never wanted in the first place and cant get rid of it.
Verizon
Stephen, you may of very well been told this. Did you hear this over the phone or in store?

They even released a press release stating the same thing!

Yeah thats bull****. My phone was never at risk to explode. Never even got warm.
You
Only 35 worldwide exploded and they were all in Korea. None in the US. The oneshere were found to be fraud.

I understand you are frustrated. Everyone had to do the same thing!

Do you straight out them these payments or are you getting a monthly credit from Verizon that will pay off your device like I am? I came over from Sprint back in February when they revealed the unlimited plans and it was a promotion where I traded in my Galaxy S7 Edge and I got the LG v20 for free with a monthly $28 credit that will eventually pay off the phone. Yes I did multiple chats online and in my case, I can swap out my line with the Note 8 and still get the account credits. I even asked if I could "lend my phone to a friend" and they could use the V20 on their account (I'll be sending it to Samsung to fulfill the $425 off obviously) and he said yes that's not a problem because the installment plans don't put locks on the phones. Here's some text of a chat I had earlier.
Verizon
To give you a reference that your device payment credit will continue please keep this agreement number: XXXXXXXXX. This agreement is based on the active line where you device was linked to. Now, just as long as the line is active, regardless you'll use a different device and just as long you will not pay off the DPA (device payment agreement), the credit will continue.
You
Thank you! I have a few more questions.
Verizon
Yes, what questions do you still have while you have me?
You
Can I lend the LG V20 to a friend of mine, since I will no longer be using it?
You
And he can use it on his account?
Verizon
Yes absolutely he can use it on his own account. As long as the device payment will be fulfilled in 24 months, there will be no problem.
Verizon
Yes you are correct
What sucks is I had to give back my note 7 twice and I am using a note 3 there not going to give me anything for it lol

They can give you $425. They told me to place the order and then give them a call and provide them your order them. They will note the order that you will be sending a note 3. As a precaution I paid with my Amex so if they try to screw me I will file a dispute. I'm not going to trade in my S8 Plus

I wonder how I could dispute an issue with Samsung financing...I wanted the 0% instead of my 10% credit card. I don't think they will have issues unless the trade in is in poor condition.
btw, there are folks buying note 7's for 300-400 on craigslist. apparently, samsung is quietly buying them back. i'm meeting a guy in a place with cameras tomorrow to sell mine for 380.
i kept mine - i said bugger off to all those stupid letters and boxes.
and for all those folks who told me i was wrong for ignoring the harassing letters from verizon/samsung: pffft!
i have been using it as a really cool wifi tablet and now it's become my personal trade-in program for the note 8 i just pre-ordered from best buy.

I got the deal you wanted, let me give you some advice.
It's about three things. One, don't use chat. Chat is impersonal and doesn't allow you to convey appropriate tone. Two, don't get rude or verbally aggressive. Three, you need a strong account. By that I mean like I have been toting a 250-350 monthly bill with Verizon for over 8 years with a good payment history as well.
After a good hour on the phone, and being told multiple times that I would have to pay off the 500 bucks still owed on the S7Edge I never wanted... and politely explaining that I needed someone to speak to that can work outside the usual box of rules they work within.... I finally got transferred to a supervisor who looked at the account, and said okay, I can make this right. He forced the contract as paid in full which pushed that 500 bucks onto my bill, then immediately went in and issued a credit for the same amount. This made my S7Edge paid for in full so I could not only upgrade early but get the same promotion as every Joe off the street that never went through 5 phones during the Note 7 fiasco. So I got it half price still like everyone else. It will be here tomorrow.
That was the kicker I think. I simply explained that if they had A. returned my old paid for Nexus 6 to me (which they said they couldn't do) or if I had the Note 7 still (which had the annual upgrade available), they would have exchanged it for a Note 8 right away no questions asked. So I simply said, I just wanted them to honor the annual upgrade I was entitled to beginning August 2016 when I agreed to purchase the preordered Note 7. They didn't have to pay off the 500 bucks on the S7Edge. But I promise you my approach combined with my logic and my account strength made it happen.
They even added 12gb to our data plan. The supervisor also personally called me the next day to confirm the transaction went smoothly and to be sure I was happy. I have never received that level of customer service from any company. It was truly refreshing.

Now that's a shame! I too ignored everybody and kept my Note 7, it takes a full charge thanks to software blocking the charging update that makes it a brick. Also, as predicted, T-Mobile was not able to cut us off if you were paying your bill, so I've had full service this whole time. I, however, won't be selling this to anyone, it's going back to Samsung for a full refund! There is no expiration date on that recall! That's $850.00+ and use of a free phone for a whole year! I'll use an iPhone 5 to get the Note 7 owners discount.

After this I waited until the next day an called. I told the nice young lady what the situation was and she put me on hold. She came back and told me that I would still have to pay off the phone. I told her that would not be financially feasible because I owed $586 on that phone and I pay $521 a month on my bill every month (Have Me. my mom, my son and my wife on my account plus a few other devices). I told her that if I would be required to do that then I would explore my options of going to another company and having them pay off all of my stuff and then I would only have to worry about getting the phone. She put me on hold again for about 7 minutes and when she came back she told me that they were going to pay off the remainder of my phone. Problem solved.

Samsung.com Prior N7 Owners Trade-in - How Much Did You Get?

I wanted to start this thread to find out if people will be/are getting full credit for their trade-in phones through Samsung.com via the Prior Note 7 Owners Trade-in Program. $425.00 was promised but this is a wait and see situation.
1. What are you trading in?
2. Condition of your trade-in.
3. When did you ship it back to Samsung?
4. Did you get an email confirmation (and when) that the trade-in phone was received and does it state the value they determined for your trade-in?
I'm trading in an iPhone 5S that is Mint. Shipping out today (Sept. 9, 2017). I printed out 2 copies of the FedEx shipping label from my order page on Samsung.com. One for the outside of the box, one copy for the inside of the box wrapped with the phone in bubble wrap. I took photos of the phone, photos of the "About" page in the phone (includes serial number etc.).
If they are basing the trade-in value on the condition of the phone then I'd expect the full $425.00 trade-in value. If they base it also on the age of the model of the trade-in phone and do not give us the full $425.00 then that's a big screw job on us from Sammy.
I received a $250 credit for trading in my old Note 4, which was only worth $63 without the promo for being a *cough* "Former" *cough* "Note7 User"...

Meh... I've been using a flawless, full battery, FREE Note7 on the same Verizon unlimited data plan I've always had, for over a year AND got a shiny new Note8 a week before the official release date, AND sold Verizon back a glorified paperweight at 400% of it's market value... I'd say that I'm still coming out on top!

Yeah. However, you have to register for the promo prior to adding the Note8 to your cart, or else they'll only give you the standard trade-in value for your device. I made that mistake initially, hence the $63.00 Note 4 Trade In Value.
I just dropped off a pristine Galaxy S7E at FedEx. My fingers are crossed that I get the full $425... Anyone know how long it usually takes to find out?

I sent in a fairy used condition Galaxy S3 after talking with numerous promo CS reps. It arrives to Samsung on Wednesday and I am confident I'll receive the full $425 trade-in value for it based on the previously mentioned conversations.

Look forward to hear from your for the trade in result. Samsung CS agreed to let me sent in a good condition Note 3 for the $425 trade in promo last week. I also got conservation ticket. But don't know if they will honor their promise for the MAX $425 discount or just partial trade in discount...

Per the promo CS reps that I spoke with, Samsung is going out of their way with exemptions for the previous Note7 owners during this offer. They will give the full $425 trade-in value for any phone as long as it works.
As mentioned by @Arjun403, the pre-paid shipping label will show up once your Note8 ships.
Good luck man.

How are you guys trading in Note 4's and other older phones? When I go to the trade in program link, there are only specific phones that are available for trade In like the Note 5, S7 Edge, IPhone 6s etc. I wanted to trade a Note 4 but it wasn't even listed as an option. @done12many2

IIRC, it took them more than a month to get back to people during the s8 /s8+ trade in promo. And I remember them taking as long to approve the pre-order bonuses for the Note 7. Hopefully, though, they'll speed this particular promo up since it's for people who got burned by the Note 7, and it looks like the preorder bonuses for the Note 8 are getting approved faster this time. So fingers crossed.

How are you guys trading in Note 4's and other older phones? When I go to the trade in program link, there are only specific phones that are available for trade In like the Note 5, S7 Edge, IPhone 6s etc. I wanted to trade a Note 4 but it wasn't even listed as an option. @done12many2

Call (855) 726-8721 as that is the direct line to the Sales/Promo Department. Don't bother with chat or 1-800-SAMSUNG. Go straight to the source.
Good luck man.
