Rooting Compatibility Between the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 models SM-T530NU and SM-T530 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello and good day everyone. I own an unrooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU running stock Android 5.0.2 with the build number LRX22G.T530NUU3U1BOI2. I intend to root my tablet to Android 7.0 and install the custom ROM Cyanogen 14 following a post from user sub77 http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/rom-slimrom-5-0-1-alpha-0-7-t2963906. The rooting method works for the SM-T530--the international model of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. Again, my tablet is the SM-T530NU--the US model. The similarities between the two is that they're both Wi-fi only. Based on this, is it possible to root my model using a method for the other one? Can I do it without any consequences?

It is normally a bad idea to use a different device rooting method than the exact one you own
on Samsung and international variants they normally have less security than the US models so the rooting method will probably just not work Samsung devices are hard to hardbrick as long as they are odin compatible try it if your device is odin compatible

Yes. My device is Odin compatible. And I successfully installed the ROM. I just want root access now, but I need to find a way to do it on cyanogenmod 14. Will Kingroot work?

Go to settings App and click build number 8 times and developer options will show up check root and choose root for Apps and adb there you go

It still wont confirm my root status even with that on. What else can I do?

Make sure you have root by using the root Checker App on Google play

I checked on Root Checker and it said that it wasn't installed properly on my device, so I flashed the stock firmware then rooted and installed 6.0.1 Marshmallow on my tablet instead. It's much more stable and has root access confirmed by Root Checker now.

OK glad to hear that you got it figured out

Did you try Kingo Root? I just got an S4 zoom last week and I rooted it fine with Kingo Root. I just had to let it run for a few minutes and allow it to restart quite a few times until it asked me to accept to root. I used Kingo Root on an S4 I previously owned and it also worked fine. I even un-rooted a few times and re-rooted and it worked fine on the S4 normal =).
i dont trust this root method.
some say its a virus.

Some old news about it did say it was a virus or that it contained some Chinese spy software (vRoot or something) but I believe they removed it or never had it, I forget which one. I just know that I never had a problem with it so far.
Think i used safe root & disable knox

I see thanks I have the AT&T SM-C105A and am trying to find a way to root
I'd be careful with the C105A AT&T version. Nobody outside of AT&T has the firmware and you cannot flash any other C105A firmware to it. On top of that is the stupid AT&T check that essentially soft bricks the phone if the check fails.

just use kingoroot and everything will be done. There is no virus in the software. they do not store your info. They just root your phone and away you go. get it from http://www.kingoapp.com/android-root/download.htm

actually you can flash the mexico Telcel firmware found at Sammobile as the mexico version is still the same model and still uses AT&T LTE service
Do some more research you will find it
Edit:
Here is the Link:
C105AUBUAND1 Sammobile link Here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=28254 Know that Sammobile is having problems with their servers so download will be slow.
My guess would be that only the ASPN's may be different. So right dow your ASPN's from your existing firmware then if different change them back after flash.
That is the same firmware I tried to undo the soft brick (ATT unauthorized software lock), it would not flash.

i want to buy China Mobile version(G8508S) here in Shanghai and i am afraid the bootloader will be locked and this method above won't work.
mine is g850f, don't really know if I have locked or unlocked bootloader.
For information obviously it tripped the knox warranty void, but I don't care

Cool that's it's rooted already, but there's not a lot of support for the phone, no ROMs, etc.

Ditto for me... on the fence with this one. It has the perfect weight and size, I just don't want it to be an oddball version of a phone that no devs wind up supporting. I've been waiting and waiting for the Nexus 6/X but either way based on the two rumors it seems like it is going up in size which is the opposite direction I'm willing to go.
Guys wait a little, the phone was just released!
Chainfire made root, please note: triggering KNOX void.

I'm interested in this device (to replace a Galaxy Note 3 Neo), however I need it fully HMP-enabled. Is it so? For app support, you can try 3C CPU Manager or 3C Toolbox, it should support your CPU 8 cores already, and show if it's HMP enabled.

nope, this is for qualcomm based CPUs
Anyone tried Kingroot recently? It doesn't list it as working..... however I got temp root on a LG with Android 6 and a locked bootloader that wasn't listed (after pushing SuperSU it bootlooped with a Secure Boot Error).
I know Samsung has that KNOX crap. I'm going to download the stock firmware and give it a try. I don't have an active Verizon account or warranty.... so IDGAF.
EDIT: I ran KingRoot twice, no luck. I'm sure China appreciates it though. ;]

Help with CF-Auto-Root.

When I checked the website for rooting my note 3 (n9005),
I took a look at the build number on the website and it's different from my phone's build number which is LRX21V.N9005XXUGBPF5.
I am very scared as to what would happen if I root the phone with this. I just want to know if I can flash my phone with this version of CF-Auto-Root(the cf-auto-root's build number is LRX21V.N9005XXUGBOA5 and my phone's is LRX21V.N9005XXUGBPF5).
Nothing will happen it will work fine i tried many phones it had defrent version phone build version is deffrent and cf auto root version is defrent u need to check only android version like 5.1.1 u need to cf root file is also 5.1.1

Don't even bother. There's no U model listed in the list of models. I think all the 8+ models for the U.S. are U, which was not in the list.

Damn it slimberg. You are clouding the issue with logic.
Doesn't really matter if the model number is supported, the software version also needs to be supported, which it isn't.
Regardless, don't you think that if a viable root method for this phone was available, that it would already be posted on this forum and that ROMs, Kernels and the like would now be available?
Just a thought
