I'm planning to get the HTC One this week but the only problem is deciding which color to get! I played with both at the AT&T store and loved them both. I know it all comes down to which one I prefer more but I would like some input on the positives and negatives on both colors to weigh it out.

Anyways I think I would like to prefer silver because i feel like it would be harder to see scratches on it but black is just so sexy looking

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either. The silver pops more and has a more colorblocked appearance (as you have the black, silver and white hues) while the black is more uniform and sleek. The black can be a fingerprint magnet, but when I had the white, part of the white plastic band on the back started becoming very dirty with no way to clean it off, effectively staining it. YMMV.

Well like you said it comes down to personal preference, but I elected to go with the black and I love it.
Just get both I have the silver, and my black should be here any minute now and I'm just going to keep both. The One might actually be a phone that I hold on to until my next upgrade is due and then some (which is a miracle for me since in the past 2 1/2 years I've owned 9 different android phones)
edit: Black just came.. wow.. I love it. Like it more than the silver, but still love the silver as well, just love the black more. lol
IMO the black looks sleeker and sexier, the silver looks more classy/elegant

I went with silver because the black one wasnt out yet. The black one would look better in some cases rather than the silver.
The black version is supposed to get scratched more easily, or at least, make scratches more visible from what I've read

I feel the same way! LOL
The white on the front is harder on my eyes than the black but I like the silver back.
I went black. It's much sexier. It doesn't stand out as much as the silver, but there is something abnormally sexy about an all black phone.

That's because the colors are just finishes over metal. If the black is scratched, you will notice the grey aluminum very easily. If the silver is scratched, you won't.
SILVER must be better.
It also depends on the case. Like today My Poetic Atmosphere case came today before my Black phone. It looks great on my Silver version. Like really nice. On the Black version it still looks nice, but looks MUCH nicer on the Silver. The Black looks better with my Gloss Black TPU and my Matte Black TPU case, Not so much with my frosted clear tpu case. I also have a black Icipio Frequency case coming I think will look awesome on the black version. I do like how a black lipped case looks on the silver. It gives it a nice contrast so black cases look nice on it as well.
I think I'm going to alternate between the two either every two weeks or once a month

I think you need to upgrade your devices in your sig to have a shiny new black HTC One
I've got the Black and my Wife the Sliver.
Both have cases on them so doesn't matter that much.
But if your going caseless then the silver feels a tad better to hold and it stands out in the crowd. I used the black for the past 3 days without a case and had NO issues with scratches or finger prints on the back. By new case just came and with a case it actually feels better to hold.

Same here. It cant be too hard, someone made one for the nexus 5 that you were able to 3d print at home and assemble it, i made it myself at school amd it looked really good! From there to it being printed on metal was a small step for a big company :/... I beleive the same can be done for the nexus 6

I saw a few OP5 "leaked" pictures with cases that had various accent colors around the top/bottom edges and camera hole. I really liked the one in gold. Thanks for the link.
Edit: I just ordered one with the gold trim for my Midnight Black 8GB/128GB OP5 also ordered today.
Are there any cases on Amazon in the US? I can't find any.

I agree that that web site sucks for clarity around selected the color you want. First and this is my assumption from the web site pictures, all the cases are actually transparent plastic/silicon but include accent colors on the top/bottom, trim colors on the camera/flash hole and on the buttons. This is backed their rambling product details description.
Assuming that is correct the color of your phone always shows with only the accents altering the look. So my phone is Midnight black and that web page allowed me to pick either a black or a gold trim color. That despite the gold trim photo shows a tan OP5 cover with gold trim. I'm expecting that I'll still get my desired black/gold look after applying the case.
Unfortunately for you, I can only see two trim color choices one black the other gold. This despite your desired blue included in some of the case photos. Thank goodness the case is so cheap or I would not have bought one. For me this case will likely only be temporary until the usual top brands make cases that I prefer and have in stock.
I like this case's transparent back as I can further customize the look. I have a clear backed bumper case on my current phone where I photoshopped a fitted picture of my favorite NBA team's logo that I printed then cut to fit inside the cover.

Oh, I didn't look very closely at whether it is opaque or transparent. If it is transparent, I may just have to do what you are suggesting with adding a picture in there of my choosing. I ordered the black one. I can report back once I receive it, which may take 2-3 weeks to arrive in the US. That red and black Otterbox case looks awesome too! Maybe someday I'll splurge on that one.

Still nothing on Amazon US, but Ebay now has the official Oneplus cases listed, as well as a bunch of other ones. None of them ship from within the US though so who knows on shipping time. Still wait and see at this point.

Don't get me wrong, I will probably put a case on my phone too... but did you catch the Jerryrig Everything review of the OP5? It seems pretty resistant to scratches... only a razor actually managed to scratch the back of the device. Looks pretty robust.
