[HOW-TO][NO JTAG] Unbrick the Galaxy J5 SM-J500h BOOTLOADER (2015) (Marshmallow) - Samsung Galaxy J5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Here a guide on how to unbrick your hard-bricked Galaxy J500H 2015. Adapted from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660566 and edited to work with the J5.
Code:
WHILE THIS IS VERY LIKELY TO WORK FOR ANY BOOTLOADER/MODEM/FIRMWARE BRICKED PHONE,
THERE IS NO UNCONDITIONAL GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL WORK FOR YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION,
THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE ARE SOME BRICK STATES THAT THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR,
but almost all cases can be resolved by rewriting the sdcard with correct partitioning.
Well, let's get started.
REQUIREMENTS
16 or 32 GB Class 10 Micro SD Card and a card reader
Your bricked J500h
The debrick image

DEBRICK IMAGES
This is the folder where I keep all the debrick images atm. Download the correct one there (only J500h at the moment): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B-R9lQbH9_gCeTAtMmQzZEUtOXc?usp=sharing
If you have another model (FN, F, G etc.) and you have a custom recovery (TWRP), you can flash this file to create a debrick image of your model. You can send it to me (PM) and I'll update the download links here.
STEPS
1. Take the sdcard and insert it into your computer
2. Download the correct image for your model
3. Back up all the data on your SD card, as the SD card will be wiped.
4. Use the program that you've downloaded earlier to burn the image to the SD card (View attachment win32diskimager-v0.9-binary.zip)
5. Remove the battery from the J5
6. Insert the SD in the J5
7. Put the battery into the J5
8. It may boot automatically, or you may have to manually boot it by holding down the power button for 5< seconds
9. Boot in Odin mode and flash the stock firmware, which will reset everything (stay aware of this:
dreamwave said:
the only known method of getting it to boot without the sdcard is reflashing stock firmware, which completely wipes the phone and resets everything back to complete stock. Also, Odin mode has, at least for me, objected when I've tried to flash the stock image back onto it, and even if Odin mode was sure of working, backing up ~16GB of data isn't a fast process, especially with the most reliable means being ADB. If you try to flash a stock image and it fails, your device will almost definitely come up with a version of dmode when you try to turn it on with the sdcard (still bricked otherwise) that says something about Kies update failure, the only way of correcting this that I've had success with is flashing an image that won't do much, such as the same recovery that you already had, over odin mode from that special dmode, as while that won't correct the actual brick, it will at least make you able to boot from the sdcard again.

If it all turned out well, you should be able to boot again.
Press "THANKS" if this helped you unbricking your J5 SM-J500h!
I don't know of this is needed with the J5, but to be sure I'm just putting it here:

"Restoring stock bootloader
1) You were able to boot into the ROM
2) Plug your phone into a computer and use MTP mode
3) Move the debrick file onto your internal sdcard (/sdcard/debrick.bin)
4) Disconnect your phone
5) Open up a Terminal Emulator on your phone and input this code
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/debrick.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0
6) Reboot"
Of course this should be modified for the different versions and types of debrick image as some are img, some are bin, I think there might even be an ISO hanging around somewhere

Sorry for the late response, I'm currently very busy.
Search on Google! It's the best way to find it. If you can't find anything on Google, look for someone with an old J500FN who is willing to sacrifice his warranty (if he still has one) to flash the ZIP which will give you the debrick image.

Unfortunately there is no debrick image online for this model. Thanks for your time

Ok. Please tell me where we can get the debrick image after flashing the "Unbrick Creator" via TWRP? I mean, the location to which the img will be dumped.

Yup, sorry brother. Instead of replying to the OP, inadvertently, I pressed the quote button of the last post and that came to be your's. :highfive:

A friend of mine has a working j500fn. I will create an image if I remember.
In case you wonder, it's just the first 200mb of the eMMC. You will find the file in /sdcard/Unbrick_files .

Please Help me my device honor 5x kiwi-L21 is bootloop

Hi everyone guys,I'm from Dubai.United Arab Emirates. I'm in trouble.
Maybe i bricked my phone.
I Rooted it, installed TWRP, and then i updated it not with the TWRP.
Since then i have got a bootloop issue, stuck with the Honor logo.
I can access the BOOTLOADER and the stock recovery (i tried to wipe and reset the phone here, but it do all the things and don't solve the problem) and ERecovery (same here i've got an error)
Try to put an update firmware on the MicroSD and make it run but didn't do anything, what can i do
U sure its a bootloop? First boot after update can make about 30 minutes. Anyways Flash stock recovery and try the update with the SDcard.

So to clarify you flashed your stock recovery, put your extracted stock firmware on your external sd card under \dload. Then you entered recovery and installed the local update and it did not work?

can u give me this stock recovery download link
What's the exact model ? KIW-L21C432 ?
You don't need the stock recovery, just plug the charger, then the phone will boot on erecovery (second/alternate recovery)
You need the full ROM though, not an update.
If it's a KIW-L21C432, here is the stock ROMs:
KIW-L21 B140
KIW-L21 B330
unzip the dload folder, put it on you sdcard, then bot with the three buttons pressed.

to piggy back on that he may need to extract his stock recovery from the update file, am I mistaken? Since the return to stock update to marshmallow guide does not have his stock recovery in OP.

- Make sure you have a stock recovery
- Unzip the downloaded file
- Remove your sdcard from your phone and plug it into your computer using a sdcard reader.
- Copy the dload folder with the UPDATE.APP file to your sdcard.
- Remove your sdcard properly from your computer and plug it back to your phone.
- make sure you have enough battery, so leave your phone connected to the main power supply.
- Hold Power On+ both Volume buttons at the same time : it could be tricky to pass this process, so you may have to repeat it many times.
- Once done, the update should start !
- Once you get a success message, wait long enough until the process complete.
- You could then search for newer updates.
- Finally, stop using Cyanogenmod if you're a noob.

Galaxy Note 4 Unbrick/Debrick.img for N910G/F/T/W8 [unbrick] [unbrick image]

First of all,
I would like to thank @Trex888 , for providing the debrick creator .
A special thanks to @dyasten for providing a working method of debricking n910f .
NOTE: DEBRICK IMAGES ARE AVAILABLE FOR N910G/F, IF YOU HAVE N910W8/T, SEE THE REFERENCE SECTION BELOW.
************************************************
●Read this before proceeding any further.
>Please mention your model number while posting a query.
>Before trying any of these methods, load your note 4 in a bag and put it in the freezer (not kidding, i am serious).
>Keep it for a whole night, before removing it from freezer, these things should be ready:
○ Recovery firmware or stock rom loaded in odin, with every file in its respective slot, if you are using the recovery firmware, then uncheck auto reboot and tick f.reset time, repartition in odin's option tab.
My advice is, try to flash the stock rom first, if it doesnt works, then go for recovery firmware.
>Once you remove it from freezer, without any delay, connect it to pc and flash the firmware.

●This is the procedure:
-Open win32diskimager, load the debrick.img(3.74gb for n910f and 16mb for n910g).
-Flash it on a blank sd card, the card should be completely formatted and should be in fat32 format.
[/B ]-Once done, put that sd card in your bricked device.
-Connect it to your pc.
-Hold the power button for at least 10 sec or try the download mode key trio.
-It should vibrate.
-If it doesnt, hold it in front of an air conditioner,
let it cool( this has been tested).
-If it still doesnt vibrates, remove the battery, hold the power button for 10sec and then insert the battery.
-Now again try to press power button.
>So, once it vibrates, leave it for around 5min.
-Then press the volume down key+power+home.
-It should boot in to download mode.
-Now you can flash stock rom or recovery firmware.

>PREREQUISITES:
-APQ 8084.pit file ( get it from here: https://mega.nz/#F!GscxXTgL!vBFl9ovSxsHM3xNo2jK40w)
-a Bootloader of your device(use the one from your recovery firmware)
-Any Samsung device having download mode.
-A SDHC CLASS 10 micro SD card(4gb, 16gb), it should blank and in FAT32 format.
- ODIN.
>PROCEDURE:
-Load the APQ 8084.pit file in the PIT section of ODIN.
-Load the Bootloader file in BL section of ODIN.
-In the options tab select: Auto Reboot, Re-Partition, F.Reset Time and T flash.
- Insert the blank sd card in a Samsung device and put the phone in Download mode.

First of all, I would like to thanks @Trex888 , for providing the debrick creator .
Note : If you want the debrick img , then you will have to make one for yourself.
I will be doing it for n910g , it will take some time, cause i will need a spare note 4 .
Anyways , if you want , create it and share .
Procedure :
So basically , you have to flash this zip file in recovery :
https://mega.nz/#!fJlWwawA!tsRI-0DMFyMcw8SVP1b7_nTyLK6xjiLzS6l1eZcJzxM
As stated by trex888 , this will create a file named Debrick.img in your internal storage .
Then you will have to put that debrick.img file on a sd-card(it should SDHC and I would advice a 32gb card ).
This can be done through PC , by using win32diskimager .
You can download win32diskimager from here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2598667&d=1393277797 )
Before putting this file on sd-card , make sure that it is formatted.
Once you got the file on your sd-card , just insert it into your costly paper weight (bricked note 4) .
Try to enter the download mode with the three key combination, if it doesnt enters the download mode, try all the possible key combinations .
Hope it helps .

Hello...!
Try googling "YU YU4711 stock rom". There seem to be enough answers there to your problem.
Most likely you will need:
1. stock firmware
2. Qualcomm USB Driver
3. YU USB Driver
4. Qualcomm Flash Image Loader (QFIL)
Take a look here also!!! https://forum.xda-developers.com/yu-yunique/development/guide-flashing-stock-rom-yu-yunique-t3219897

Thanks for the quick reply , I will download these files asap and flash the firmware , A question , does flashing the stock firmware fixes the partition problem , there are no /internal storage or /data partitions to be mounted .
I had this problem before , it's so simple , learn how to use the ADB SIDE LOAD method so u can push the ROM into the phone storage from PC.

To my knowledge, flashing using the QFIL method (and using correct stock firmware) almost completely wipes and repartitions the device to the new (stock firmware). (the correct flashing software is QFIL since your device's processor belongs to the Qualcomm famiy)
You will see pretty soon, if you get on with is, that a scatter file is required for completing the flashing process. If you take a look at the file with a text editor, you might get a better idea of how you device will be partitioned (most likely from scratch).
Look a little bit more around, just to get a better idea on how to use QFIL. There are options on the software to force format/ wipe if nothing else works, or there is also the option to either download or upgrade. You will see once you get the program running.
My concern is that you don't just rush to flash the firmware. Try to understand the process as much as you can, and then give it a go!

I am not sure if you really need to have enabled usb debugging for this particular method to work. Perhaps more experienced members can chip in here??? Heeeelp!!!!
Still there are a couple of things you can try, provided that you have correctly installed the drivers to enable at least some communication between your phone and the computer.
1. Try just connecting the phone to computer (powered off) after having pressed the download button in QFIL.
2. Try holding the volume up button and connecting the phone to PC (powered off phone) after having pressed the download button in QFIL.
3. Try holding the volume down button and connecting the phone to PC (powered off phone) after having pressed the download button in QFIL.
For all of the above, it would really help if the battery was out of your device (if it is removable).
I really do hope that you will get a chance to revive your device... For the time being, I am out of ideas myself... I wish you the best!

[Solved] Qualcomm China Phone hangs in a bootloop Hisense A5 (HLTE202N)

I have a bricked Hisense A5 (Qualcomm, China) device which stays in a bootloop and I don't know how I can unbrick it.
Facts are:
Device: Hisense A5 (HLTE202N)
Firmware: Stock L1657 6.03.02.00 / Kernel 4.9.112
- I could flash in edl mode successful a stock firmware, but nothing changed after a reboot
- Device stays with "Hisense and powered by Android screen".
- The bootloader can't be unlocked
- teardown device and disabled battery for some minutes and tried to charge it with a wall charger -> bootloop
What I can (like before flashing in edl-mode):
- Entering edl-mode with a xiaomi edl-cable (Qualcomm HS-USB 9008er mode and diagnostic mode 900E after flashing)
- entering fastboot (pressing volume up while rebooting and connecting pc)
What I can't:
-flashing TF-Mode (Firmware on microSD)
-rebooting to system
-shutdown
-recharging wall charger (bootloop)
-not detected as usb-drive for filetransfer
This bootloop mode you can read quite often. The Xiaomi guys can fix this by flashing a fastboot Firmware, but they have an unlocked bootloader
Anybody knows a solution or what I can try to fix this?

Yes, sorry forgot that to mentioned. Good point. That was the first I tried with some other guys in the thread but it doesn't work at all. Tried different microSD and formatting.
Well if the TF Mode not working with 6.0.9 and you have 6.0.3 which is already rooted logic say to try not with 6.0.9 but with 6.0.4 update or better with 6.0.3 but original i.e not rooted. I think something in 6.0.3 is not compatiblle with something in 6.0.9. Simply as that. I remember I say guy in thread for Hisense A5 root which had all update files and WeChat group?
I think you have damaged the recovery or vbmeta partition. You can try to flash back the original boot, recovery and vbmeta partition of 6.03.02. I think this will unbrick your phone. I have uploaded these files to Google Drive. You can try to flash back these files to see if this can save your phone. These files are the original partitions from version 6.03.02. If you still fail, then you may need to flash back system.img or vendor.img, these files are huge. You can ask me later if you still fail.

Great, these files are working flawless in qfil. Could recover the system and then update in Tf-Mode to actual 6.09
These are the original boot, recovery and vbmeta image from 6.09.06.

I'm sorry for asking what is probably a silly question, but how exactly do you flash files like boot.img using Qfil ?
I can get into fastboot., but not edl mode.
I know old thread, but am having problems with a bricked A5. After a lot of trial and error, it sometimes gets into Fastboot mode. I can then ask for fastboot device and it responds with a hex number and fastboot.
When I try to flashall new partitions, it fails with:
fastboot: error: ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT not set or non allowed.
Once I could flash individual partition with:
fastboot flash boot boot_recovery_vbmeta_6.03.02/boot.img
Sending 'boot' (65536 KB) OKAY [ 2.113s]
Writing 'boot'
But then it just sits there and nothing seems to happen.
Anyone has suggestions on what to try, am running out of ideas
.
It would be amazing if anyone could share:
- Stock ROM 6.12 full QFIL backup.
- EFS/QCN backup files.
Thanks

Hi. I have the same problem as you, but I don't know how to flash those files with qfil. Can you please explain it to me?

Question [SOLVED] Phone's bricked, either need an answer or 11.0.4.0's image

NOTE: Will just clarify, probably am an idiot and messed up a simple thing, so please do take everything I say here with a grain of salt.
The phone was rooted with Magisk v25.1, and I had also installed the unofficial TWRP from this very forum. I also believe I was on 11.0.4.0 of OxygenOS. It is the factory unlocked version.
I was following a guide to update the phone through fastboot, since stock recovery was just showing a screen with a keyboard, which appeared to be impossible to get past. Said guide is here.
Linked in the guide above is the 8th step of that guide, where you then flash the files from the OTA file after extracting them with payload_dumper. I believe the version I was extracting was 11.0.7.0, but to be honest, it was whatever I downloaded off of the Oxygen Updater app, so I'm not entirely certain. I had installed "boot.img", "dtbo.img", and "modem.img", then getting to "abl.img", before receiving an error: Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions. "Well," I thought, "I suppose I just can't do it then. *shrug*. Back to this version of OxygenOS I go." That was before remembering to attempt doing "fastboot flashing unlock_critical", which, gave me: Device already unlocked! Well, clearly not, as I should've been able to write abl.img. Attempting to flash again gave me nothing, so, I said screw it.
Well, upon trying to hit start in fastboot, I noticed the phone were now bootlooping back to fastboot over and over. So, I'm lead to a few conclusions:
a) I'm gonna need "dtbo.img" and "modem.img" (I already have boot.img) from the 11.0.4.0 stock image. I cannot find the actual image, so I'm lead to now needing some help here.
b) There has to be some way to continue flashing the files in fastboot (that is, if that is the correct course of action; I am assuming, please feel free to correct me).
c) There is a different way to fixing this than I am thinking.
d) Worst case scenario, this thing has to go back to OnePlus.
Would really hate to have to get to Step D, as this phone was a birthday present to me, and I'd find it wholly embarrassing to throw my hands up in the air a single day after getting the damn thing for my birthday just to need to send it back already, but if nobody can help me out here, then that's where I'm at.
Would appreciate any and all help/suggestions! Thanks.
EDIT: Phone is stuck in Qualcomm Crashdump mode now, bootable into fastboot with vol up+down+power. Looks like it's irreparable. Already working with OnePlus to get it replaced.
EDIT 2: Fixed it!! Big thanks to this thread for the help.
1)get a usb otg and pendrive
2)download and tranfer pixel experience full build zip file in you pendrive
3)go to fastboot and flash twrp recovery misc and vbmeta and boot to recovery
4)insert pendrive in usb otg and connect it to phone
5)click on install then click on select storage usb otg and flash the pixel experience like you flash other files
6)reboot the phone
7)after setting up download the rom you want to and go to fastboot then flash twrp again 3rd step
8)flash the rom you want to install and flash g-apps reboot your phone
9)complete all steps and you have your phone with custom os/rom

No offense, but this is a pretty dumb response. I don't think you're very familiar with how TWRP is on this device, nor the state of my own. I cannot mount storage, and even if I could, I don't even believe this rom exists for the N200 5G. Along with that, why would a USB OTG be necessary when there's.. I don't know, an SD card slot that works fine and is readable?
Also step 3 is a little laughable. That's why I'm even here in the first place; I couldn't flash every damn thing!
I'll share Oxygen OS 12 if you want it, and let me know if I should keep searching.
Just use payload dumper go to dump the payload and then flash the files with this guide.
Edit: Uploading it via xda didn't work, so here's the google drive link.
