Mic cuts out to callers?? - AT&T LG G5 Questions & Answers

Having an issue where my voice is cutting out intermittently to callers. I blew the mic port out with compressed air. It's the single hole on bottom of charging chin, right? They say that they can't hear anything for a second or two and I'm getting tired of repeating myself. Anyone else have this issue?

Going to use that as a last resort. Right now, It seems ok, I cleaned the port out and also cleaned the contacts on the charging module chin with alcohol.

I did a factory reset and it still cuts out. Any ideas? If I get a new charging chin/module, it will include the mic, right? Where is the best source for an OEM charging chin?

Here you go, just make sure you get the one that matches your model (h820 for AT&T). Mic is included in the module.

No Audio out of Headset Jack

Hey Everyone,
So I'm on Sprint with the photon 4g and after receiving the latest update about a week ago my headset jack has essentially become dead. Tried everything I could think of... It's 100% stock. Anyone else experience this? Guessing something good got messed up at the driver level, the hardware, that being two copper contacts hah, didn't experience any damage.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks

Checked mine and it seems to be working on latest update.
May have to try a factory reset from recovery and see if that helps. Not sure what else to do except take it in to Sprint.
Assuming you tried another set of headphones to see if they work.
I had this problem and figured it out. There was some lint in my jack, just use a pin to dig it out, works great!

Wow!
Sure enough, I put the end of a pin down there and came up with a little ball of lint, didn't see it with my flashlight either.
Thanks so much for both of your responses!

Internal Microphone Suddenly Defective

Evening Everyone,
So I have been using these forums as a source of information for quite some time now, however no amount of browsing has solved my issue so It's now my time to start a thread.
I have been using my TFP for Skype for a while now and it's always been fine, but suddenly my microphone has stopped working both on Skype and double checked on the built in voice recorder. There is no sound at all being detected by my microphone.
I wondered if any of you have had a similar problem and if it's a known issue or could someone help Me?
Thanks in advance
Dav3
I hope you did not reset your Prime by inserting a thin object into the microphone hole, I've heard this can actually damage it.

No, not really, but I'm always cautious when it comes to those 'user experience stories'

My mic has stopped working too. I know it worked before with google search. .
And... after a cold boot the mic now works. Well thats nice.
Has no one else seen this issue? The mic stopped working until the tablet was rebooted? Dav3--Uk, did your mic start working after you rebooted?
I have something like this that I cannot solve for months now. I sent mine in for RMA and they never fix it. Mic works for only 1 app (built in "Sound Recorder" app). Everything else from Skype, to Google voice search, to Google voice typing for super note, they are not working at all.
I try to email Gary on here but haven't heard a reply in weeks. If anyone encounter this problem and know how to fix it, please give me some advice. Although wise I'm basically giving up on this tablet. There are so much problems with it and this is one of the major ones.

It did this for me before stopping again. I had called the techs and they had me do the reboot which it started working for a short period of time then crapped out. I believe the way I was holding it pinched the microphone and temporarily fixed the connection.
Soon nothing I could do would fix it and I had to send it in for RMA (got a new one).
Yep...I broke the microphone trying to do a reset

Hanging my head in shame...I did
I'm probably going to wait and see if I can get a replacement module for the microphone. Also noticed I no longer have the flash working either and from what it appears in TechRepublic's tear-down photos, the microphone and flash seem to be on the same board.
In hindsight, should have read the manual so to speak. On the other hand, they could have distinguished the microphone port with two holes instead of one.

headset icon on all the time..no speaker

Basically the headset icon at the top is on and the phone thinks I have a headset plugged in so the only way to talk is to put it o n speaker phone.
Anyone eleven have this issue or do I have to get a refurbed replacement?
There's probably crud in your headphone jack. Clean it out with a q-tip that's got a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on it. Obviously turn your phone off first.
Are you running a custom Rom? Rooted ?
If so, I suggest fist wiping and reflashing a Rom.
If on a new flash u are still having the problem, I would assume hardware problem.
Inspect the Mic jack, look for debris, plug.in a headset, u should be able to tell if there is something inside.
If all of that fails, call 611 and get a replacement.

Not rooted, already tried a wipe, tried inserting headphones and they work but the icon stays on after removal.
Going to take a closer look inside the jack and clean it.

Yeah, this is a pretty common problem. Not with this phone in particular, but phones in general. All that lint'n'stuff in your pockets. You can also use vodka, if you have some of that around.
Cleaned it really well but didn't see anything that would keep it from working right.. still broken so I gotta exchange it.
Compressed air.
Tried everything.. no dice
I had this exact problem. I ended up exchanging under warranty. Odd thing was the day I sent it back it stopped doing it, I sent it in anyway and just told verizon it was intermittent and random. That was a few months ago and my new one works fine.

people cant hear me unless i speaker phone?

so 50% of the calls i receive people on the other end cant hear me unless i switch to speakerphone.
ive tried different sim cards, tried custom rom, reflashed back to stock rom etc with no luck.
fixing to switch to a iphone 5 unless anyone has any ideas? from what ive read online its a android/verizon issue not the phone itself so im not sure if swapping for another note2 will help.
Sounds like you just have defective hardware. This isn't common.
Sure an apple would fix it, but so would a new note.
No, it is a phone issue based on your description. Sounds like you have a bad mic and speakerphone likely uses a different mic.
oh i was reading that it was most likely a software issue because i read that speakerphone used the same mic.

It depends on the device, but most use a different mic AFAIK for speakerphone.

im starting to think bestbuy messed it up. because now that i think of it, i had same issue with my galaxy nexus when i paid them to install a zagg screen protector for me. then i had to replace that phone and it was fine. i bet they used too much liquid and it got in the mic hole or something.

Very likely. You're supposed to keep the battery out for a day for a reason with wet application screen protectors.

First you can try wiping your cache and rebooting your phone, then only then try hitting the back of your phone but not too hard.
This is a common problem that has been seen.

So you can't put the call on speaker or your speaker doesn't work at all.

The speaker doesn't work at all except during call
I think there is another speaker that activates during call
If I enable speaker mode on a call then also no audio
Earphones work fine
Tried many roms

If your willing to you can slap the back of your phone( I have done this when my speaker didn't work) don't do it too hard though then your audio should kick back in.

Before I send you that I can give you one last tip you can try plugging in your headphones then going to the sound settings and moving the ringer slider and finally removing your headphones.

Top, near the speaker.
Still not working
I need to know if there are 2 speakers in this phone, like one loud speaker and another earpiece
As I can only hear audio only during calls not on other apps
i had same problem, what i did to get them working was smacking the back on the phone ( lower half on the back) with my hand

Is speaker still not working? If so slap the upper top back of the phone with my which is parallel to the speaker and every few times try increasing volume to see if you can hear something. You got to slap it a little hard to make it work.

Well if it works in calls but doesn't work elsewhere then something must be blocking it from that. What you could try is something like a reset.
