Root Samsung mini j1 prime (SM-J106b) - Samsung Galaxy J1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
I bring a method to root this phone, ive tried with an Asian device but i know is working with South American branch as well.
-Download TWRP for SM-J105B.(link in the post).
-Download SuperSu.(link in the post).
-Enable developer options.
-Enable OEM unlock.
-Enter download mode (home+volume down+power)
-Flash with odin the SM-J105B_TWRP.tar recovery (option AP).
-Enter recovery (home+volume up+power).
-Flash SUPERSU_v276.zip.
-Reboot.
That's all
This method will install su in a boot partition(systemless).
¡ALERT!
Don't modify any file in a system partition or you will brick your phone because system is verified in each boot.
Regards,

Thanks. I'll try it when I'm home ??

Hi, thanks for the method. Unfortunately it wouldn´t work on mine. Odin says it´s a success, but then when I try to get to recovery, it´s just the default android recovery.

I think you need to boot the device directly into the flashed recovery, and not into the system and them into the recovery. It probably flashes the stock recovery after verifying the installed recovery is not the original one.

I had the same problem but i managed to resolve the issue. I flashed via ODIN the recovery and when the device rebooted I imediately remove the battery and disconnect the usb cable. Then I entered in recovery mode and it worked.
Hope this helps.

I succeeded with this tutorial and worked with normal beckup / restore, install costomrom thanks for the developer and keep working on you: good:

your TWRP works on my phone, thanks.
but my first attempt was with the rooting tutorial for J106B on rootmygalaxy dot net
there is a different custom TWRP for J106B
it doesn't work on my phone, but maybe that when one doesn't work, the other do.

How to flash custom recovery in two ways! (PC method and Non-PC method)

Hello! Here im gonna show you an answer for how to flash custom recovery, this is very easy and you only need a pc or some couple of apps and a file.
First things first make sure you're phone is supported, unofficial custom recoveries works fine! Download the tar/img file of the custom recovery and some couple of apps on second method or a program and usb cable on first method.
PC method: Tar file
This one's will work fine and it will have no chance of failing in flash (Depends if something happened on the phone while flashing)(make sure you have samsung usb drivers installed!)
1. Install ODIN3 and Samsung USB Drivers
2. Make sure you have the downloaded tar file of the custom recovery.
3. Turn off the phone and make sure it is in ODIN Mode or Download Mode (A useful feauture for Samsung Devices)
4. Connect the phone to PC via USB Cable
5. Select the AP/PDA button (depends on you're ODIN3 version)
6.Select the tar file
Follow additional instructions from the custom recovery installation instructions or you may fail. (cuztomizing the settings or removing something on the phone)
7.After that click start and wait for some few seconds.
8a. If it leaded you to lock screen, launch recovery to make sure it flashed perfectly and works fine. But if it doesnt work reflash the recovery again/flash it with another version of recovery or another recoveries like CWM/Philz/TWRP (if reflashing dont work). Maybe because the recovery flashed is bugged or corrupted.
8b. If it leaded you automatically to "recovery booting" and then turns into ODIN Mode or Download Mode. Reflash the recovery again/Flash it with another recovery version or another recoveries like CWM/Philz/TWRP. Maybe because the recovery flashed is bugged or corrupted.
Non-PC Method: IMG File
This second method have some chances or RARE chances you may fail and brick or get stuck on a certain point, somehow convenient if you're out of options on flashing.
1. Download and Install Flashify app
2. Select your custom recovery IMG file
3. Wait for it to say that the file is flashed
4. Reboot the device
At this point, this one is the confusing point because you maybe dont know what to do next when you reboot the phone
5a. After rebooting the device, and it leads you to lock screen. Launch recovery to make sure its perfectly flashed and working. If not and when you launch the recovery, it leads you to download mode (recovery only problem), it looks like you need reflash it again/flash another recovery version or another recoveries like CWM/Philz/TWRP(if reflashing dont work) . Maybe because the recovery flashed is bugged or corrupted.
5b. After rebooting the device, it leads you automatically to recovery and not to the lock screen. It shows as "recovery booting" and then turns into ODIN Mode or Download Mode, this is the point you have to reflash it again/flash it with another recovery version or another recoveries like CWM/Philz/TWRP(if reflashing dont work). Maybe because the recovery flashed is bugged or corrupted.
This is some recoveries which include the two recoveries I said in this thread: Credits to @aapav01 @ali.filth for this amazing recoveries!

[Root SM-A320F /FL/Y] Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 - The most advanced 4.7 inch Samsung yet

This device is more reasonable to buy as it is small and elegant at a decent price.
It is IP68 water-friendly device and the display is much better - higher FPS than on higher resolution OLEDs - good for action games.
Root using CF-autoroot
Download the file from CF-auto-root repository:

Unzip the file
Run Odin from the unzipped folder
Browse by clicking AP button the *.md5 file from the unzipped folder
Connect the A320F in download mode (start the device by holding Power+Home+Volume DOWN)
After starting the device in download mode, press Volume UP one to allow the download
A new COM port should be recognized by Odin after the device is connected via USB
Press Start button in in Odin
Rooting will take place automatically and the device will restart twice.
After the first restart you can disconnect the cable from the PC.
Second restart might take a few minutes.
After that you will find the SuperSU app installed.
Other, more complicated methods:
Rooting using custom recovery:
You will need:
SM-A320F with Exynos CPU (waiting for updates on other model)
Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 on your device
Odin v3.0.4 (download link below)
Team Win Recovery Project - TWRP (download link here) or ClockWork Mod Custom Recovery - CWM (download link below)
(Recommended custom recovery: Team Win Recovery Project :good: - more features, newer, works better)
SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815 (latest ZIP version available today - download link below)
SM-A320F TWRP & CWM recovery installation procedure:
On your device enable developer options and then disable OEM lock (FRP lock) for the device to allow you to flash custom recovery
(Activate OEM unlock from developer options menu)
Boot your device in Odin downlaod mode (hold VolDOWN + Home + Power)
Flash the *.tar file of TWRP or for the CWM using Odin's PDA option
(Uncheck Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time)
Force reboot your device (hold VolDOWN + Power for 10 seconds)
SM-A320F SuperSU ZIP installation procedure:
Copy SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip on a microSD card (trough USB data cable or any other method)
Unplug the USB data cable from the phone and shut down the device
Start your device in Recovery mode (Hold VolUP + Home + Power)
(RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCED - this warning is normal when booting into CWM custom recovery but not with TWRP)
The recovery menu will appear
> Using TWRP Recovery:
Swipe to allow modifications
Tap on Install
Tap on Select Storage at the bottom and select MicroSDCard then tap OK
Browse for the SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and tap on it to install it
Swipe to install SuperSU (confirm Flash)
> Using CWM Recovery:
Select Install zip update package (use VolDOWN/VolUP to navigate and Power to select)
Select Choose zip from sdcard
Select SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip and press Power to install Super SU
The installation will perform automatically and the device will reboot twice.
First reboot will take longer. Please be patient. After the second reboot you will have SuperSU and root.
Downsides/bugs:
Knox will be tripped the second you flash a custom recovery (Warranty void: 1 - non reversibile)
(That means that you will lose the warranty for your device and that can not be changed)
(Perhaps that's why I personally can't invest more than $300 in a Samsung cellphone ever)
You won't be able to use Knox-related functions including Secure Folder ever again
Because of a SuperSU bug you won't be able to use Smart View (Miracast, project the screen to smart TV) unless you make an edit as follows:
Lewdog45 said:
Use a file browser such as Root Browser and go to the root of your device then locate the "System" folder and find build.prop and edit it with any application that can edit it and find the bottom line, right at the edge of the bottom line you need to press enter twice and then paste this:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable
And then save it and reboot your device.

Format the SD card on your PC using FAT32 option (use an USB adapter).
Copy the zip on the card, Insert it into the phone and reboot into recovery to test.
Yes... that's what I did. I found the solution into Google.
Thanks anyway for your help.
Do you think that it will be possible to install TWRP instead of CWM in recovery?

Yes. You can flash twrp in cwm and reboot to recovery. Twrp will be there instead.
wich version to choose?
Sorry. There's no twrp for a320 yet, but in general it's working fine to flash new recovery with existing one.
Hey guys, I will receive my a3 2017 soon and I was wondering if it would be preferable to root it now than waiting for the update to Nougat and re-root it then... Any idea when the update will be available for this phone? I was also wondering if I should use a specific brand or type of micro sd card with this phone?
Thanks

Honor 9 stuck at fastboot & rescue mode

Hello everyone,
I am not an IT guy and apparantly not an intelligent man as well.
I tried rooting my phone following a guide I found and was able to unlock bootloader and install TWRP on my phone. When I tried the next step (installing Supersu) all my files appeared encrypted when I tried to install through TWRP. Checked some other guides that said "clean up data". Went to TWRP and wiped phone (genius). now i am stuck in fastboot & rescue mode or the emui recovery which does nothing.
"fastboot&rescue mode
please coonect usb cable to
your computer and open hisuite
Android reboot reason:AP_S_COLDBOT
NA
VOLUMNKEY_DOWN_PRESS_PROCESS_FUNC
PHONE Unlocked
FRP Unlock"
Any help appreciated and sorry about the new post but through reading other posts, the standard language you guys use is way too advanced for my comprehension
Ok so you're phone is PHONE Unlocked & FRP Unlock, good.
You have access to :
- bootloader, good.
- stock recovery or twrp ?
- erecovery ?
In stock recovery not twrp, did you tried to "Wipe Data/Factory reset" ?
In stock Erecovery, did you tried to "download latest version and recovery" (while having stock recovery on recovery, not twrp) ?

reboot
shutdown
after clicking on download latest version and recovery, my screen goes into "connecting WIFI" and from there "getting package info failed"

you have to check if you gave stock recovery or TWRP.
Close phone, and turn on the phone phone holding Volume UP and Power together,. WHITHOUT ANY USB CABLE CONNECTED (otherwise you will have e-recovery)
if you have stock recovery you have to do so:
1) download "stock service B130" from:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...stock-t3696892
2) copy UPDATE.APP and update_STF-L09_hw_eu.app to external SDCARD into /dload folder
turn on the phone holding Volume + and volume - and power ( three fingers way)
if all is good, phone restart in stocj recovery and update firmware....
you will have again bootloader and frp blocked
if you have twrp installed, you have to install again a stock recovery....
you can try:
1) download "stock service B130" from:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...stock-t3696892
2) download those 2 file from
https://mega.nz/#F!Y59nFYbJ!fb1f4UpEdgABZ4NhOfu1JQ
3) put all files in HWOTA7 directory on external SD
4)In TWRP find the folder HWOTA7 on the phone SD and from it flash the file "hwota7_update.zip"
he phone will reboot itself into the stock recovery and it will install the firmware.
++++++ Important ! ! ! ++++++
After have installed the firmware, you need to boot into the recovery and make a full Wipe
if all ok, b130 firmware will be flashed.
otherwise toy will have now a stock recovery installed and you can try whit three fingers mode

Sorry @oslo83 i may be, as i mentioned i lack the specific knowledge...
i can only boot it in fastboot&recovery through "down volume + power key" or in the regular mode which after looping through the Honor logo a few times stops at the "eRecovery" from huawei.
that is basically all i have access to
@angelobiz : if he's on oreo, will it work with these nougat's files ?

https://mega.nz/#F!Y59nFYbJ!fb1f4UpEdgABZ4NhOfu1JQ
3) put all files in HWOTA7 directory on external SD
4)In TWRP find the folder HWOTA7 on the phone SD and from it flash the file "hwota7_update.zip"
he phone will reboot itself into the stock recovery and it will install the firmware.
++++++ Important ! ! ! ++++++
After have installed the firmware, you need to boot into the recovery and make a full Wipe
if all ok, b130 firmware will be flashed.
otherwise toy will have now a stock recovery installed and you can try whit three fingers mode

Hello,
i was able to access TWRP through power + volume up.
i downloaded the files you mentioned (but the link was broken, so i searched for the 130b on XDA and found it) and put them on the SD card.
i clicked install and selected the service full repair zip and swiped to install
my phone rebooted and i got an error instalation failed
hello guys,
after i followed Angelo steps and i got a failed instalation notice, i went to erecovery and it suddenly gave me the option for a factory reboot, which i did and now i can use the phone regularly.
i am back to ground zero
i am not sure exactly what i did that worked, but it worked even though it said failed
thanks for the help
edit: Angelo i sent a donation as thanks
thanks again
thanks a lot.

I think that you have flashed a valid recovery (e-recovery don't give you a choice of factory reset)
And so you can solve.
Maybe I don't know too h
What you have done... But it is important that now phone is ok.
Which firmware you have now?
Check if your bootloader and Frp are blocked and of you still have twrp

Hi
I followed instructions and youtube link.
I got twrp working. But magisk manager says 'Magisk is not installed Latest: 20.4(20400)' . Magisk Manager is up to date Installed: 7.5.1 (267) Latest: 7.5.1(267)(7)
On clicking Install it offers to download zip. I downloaded the zip, went to twrp and flashed it but still it says not installed .
Edit: I have to go into twrp and select boot->recovery , this will boot with magisk. But on reboot simply it says Magisk not installed
Edit: Go to twrp -> reboot recovery. Open Magisk manager, Install -> Recommended Way, reboot. This will make rooting permanent.
Everything working
Thank You

That is long story I think, as I am not wrong in after android 8 or 9 above, It caused partition structure. In android 8 above partition structure has changed, we can not install magisk manually in TWRP anymore, we must patch it in recovery.img, repack recovery.img, boot.img and vbmeta.img to be flashable tar file then flash it. It looks no solution until now..
HELP

TWRP Recovery and Rooting Galaxy J600G (I need help)

So uhm first time posting in XDA, and also first time rooting a phone in my life...
Anyways apparently twrp doesn't have an official custom recovery for the J6... and despite searching for the J600G (specificaly: J600GDXSACVB1), I was unable to find any proper website for my model (ive heard I need the exact file for my exact model)... maybe you guys know any twrp custom recovery for it....
And after that... some are saying just flash magisk, some are saying I need to disable VaultKeeper to really unlock Bootloader to then root the device... so I am getting confused
If anyone can help that'll be great!
Phone Info:
Android Version: 10
Baseband Version: J600GDXSACVB1
Knox version: Knox 3.5 (idk if this is needed)
"OEM Unlocking" option in developer setting is enabled
"USB Debugging" is also enabled

TWRP =/= root. Root means you have SU access in Android system. Recovery mode is a separate environment; the difference between TWRP and stock recovery is that TWRP allows you to flash unsigned images.
If you just want to root your phone with Magisk, you can follow these instructions.
Otherwise, if you want to be able to flash custom ROMs, you can use this to patch your stock recovery to enable Fastbootd which will allow you to flash partitions directly instead of using Odin.

Yes, see the Magisk instructions I linked. Samsung likes to make things complicated, so when you've unlocked the bootloader, it still won't let you flash custom images until Vaultkeeper has been disabled.
Hmm ok thanks.. I saw the Magisk installation help page and I am getting stuck in this part:
Allow bootloader unlocking in Developer options → OEM unlocking
Reboot to download mode: power off your device and press the download mode key combo for your device
Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot.
Click to collapse
I am long pressing volume up button in download mode however nothing is happening...
(Edit) Oh and KG State (which I assume is another word for RMM Lock) is just showing 'checking' and not 'prenormal' or anything...
I think TWRP may be the cause of the bootloop. I flashed a stock firmware of J600G to completely reset it (factory reset of sorts) and then flashed TWRP, and entered the recovery screen. After that the bootlooping issue started... is there any other good custom recoveries?
Hi TUD, fellow J600G user here, I'd recommend you to start off easy by installing TWRP 3.2.3.
Requirements -
Odin installed on your computer.
USB cable
TWRP tar file
To install TWRP -
1. Switch your phone off and hold volume up and down buttons at the same time while connecting your phone to the computer by cable.
2. Open Odin and go to options, switch off auto reboot, now click on AP and select your TWRP tar file.
3. Now after Odin says PASS disconnect the cable from your phone and hold Volume down + power button for 7 seconds and as soon as the screen goes black hold Volume up + power button. This will boot you into your newly installed TWRP.
When it comes to custom roms J6 has some limitations for a few good ones. In my opinion you can install EvolutionX 4.0 (made by @adi_ss) that is based on android 10 as its the easiest rom to install. All you have to do is follow the instructions given by the developer.
Happy Flashing.
