why the V30 has quick charge 3 instead of 4 or 4+ ? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Hi
I understand that the snapdragon 835 brought support for quick charge 4 and four plus, yet phones released until now with the 835 have only support for the last year quick charge 3, (notwithstanding the Nuhia z17) I would like to understand what is the reason for it please and whether the V30 is likely to be updated with the quick change four capability in the future thar is to say if that's merely a software issue?

Maybe it's a heating issue and maybe they felt QuickCharge 3 was "safer" for now. You saw the hit Samsung took with the Note 7 last year. LG said they put in place lots more testing and safety procedures to prevent that from happening -- especially in the battery category. They actually sort of bragged something like that would never happen to LG! In testing this phone, perhaps QuickCharge 4 had a few bad results?

It's easy. Find me QuickCharge 4.0 compatible charger at Amazon

LG would make their own charger and include it with the phone.
But you have a point about replacement chargers. I keep several on hand.

And then either loose $50 profits with every sold V30 or put it on shelves for $900 and make everyone angry, frustrated and steered to Pixel 2 XL, Mate 10 or even Note 8
In fact, on reddit people claim that one can use USB-C Power Delivery Chargers to charge newest Pixel2/2XL, but no one link some from Amazon either. They claim that with USB-C PD Pixel can be charged to 70% in 15min. Seems like USB-C PD adapters are still nonexistent as well as QC 4.0 compatible
I wouldn't be surprised that even V30 can be charged in 15 min to 70% either being based on same SD835

Seems legit. Where can I buy it on ebay?

I feel like quick charge technology is a bit like android. It gets released, but you won't get it until much later.

a second turbo charger

i am very pleased with my motorola turbo charger that accompany my nexus 6 and i would like a second one (european edition). Where can i find one? (i have searched everywhere i can!!) Any help is appreciated
I'm not sure about European ones but I would check amazon.co.uk or which ever countries amazon you are in. I have 4 Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 chargers (2 Motorola, 1 incipio and 1 power partners) they all work the same so brand doesn't matter as long as it's quick charge 2.0 certified. I would recommend not buying the Motorola version because its expensive compared to other brand and its rather large in comparison. One of my chargers supports the higher voltage (20v quick charge) but no device so far can take advantage of it just yet. I would just search for quick charge 2.0 and see what pops up unless you are dead set on the Motorola one. Below is a picture of the Motorola vs the Power Partners one.
Couple of weeks ago I've bought Aukey turbo charger on Amazon.de.
Seems to work just fine, but comes without micro usb cable, so make sure to
have proper one (for turbo charging) or buy one.
There seems to be a few new options slowly coming onto amazon.
Anker makes a single port charger for like 20 bucks.
Personally I am waiting for someone like anker to make a multi-port charger that supports QC 2.0 across the 4 to 6 charging ports.
Basically this with upgraded internals.

There should be a plethora of quick charge 2.0 compatible chargers since Qualcomm isn't charging a licensing fee to use the technology. Give it time and there will be more. I know in the US there are 30+ different QC 2.0 chargers on Amazon so the other country specific ones should follow suit.
Can anyone tell me if the Samsung Adaptive Fast charger will work as well as a licensed charger? I only want to know because I like the fact that it is all white and a few Amazon reviews point out that some of the aftermarket versions burned out the charger port or phone. I know that the adaptive charger will be faster than others, but will it be as fast as the stock Moto charger?

Its a QC 2.0 charger assuming your talking about the one that comes with the Note 4. It's even on Qualcomms website if you look for it under quick charge form what I remember. It should work just fine, do you have a link to the Amazon page? Its odd how people claim it burned out their outlets but things happen.

Sure: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B00QTJZ3D0/ref=mw_dp_cr?qid=1425351571&sr=8-6
3 on that page. I think there was one on aukey that a person had updated but I can't find it now. I specifically remember it because they had rated a 5 and came back to update it.
I've looked everywhere on the quick charge page. I don't see the note 4 charger on there. They always run half off coupons, so it would be cheap when back in stock, plus it's not a knockoff if you but straight from Sammy. It's weird because it maxes at 2 or 5v I think instead of 9v like the others. (My numbers may be off on voltage but Sammy's is lower than Motorola)
If not, maybe Motorola will run an accessories sale sometime this decade.

I have no issues with the other QC 2.0 chargers that I run. I read those reviews and I personally wouldn't trust that company given the number if people with complaints until they fix what's causing the issues. I have 2 Motorola QC's a Power Partners one and finally a Incipio QC car charger. I haven't had any issues with any of them and the Power Partners one is rated at a max of 30W. I haven't seen my Nexus 6 go beyond 9V personally so the 20V and 12V that it offers won't really matter until devices support that. I would go with one that people have tried without issues to play it safe. If you own a Samsung phone they do give half off when you register it on their site if I remember correctly. Its been a while since I've owned any Samsung phone besides my wife's S5 which we got rid of a while ago. I use my car quick charge daily and I haven't had any issues at all. I stopped caring about seeing how much battery I could squeeze out of my phone and instead I bleed it dry so to speak then quick charge it when it drops below 50%. I carry my spare Moto charger in my backpack and it works fine (I got it for free using a $50 gift card to Motos site) otherwise I wouldn't psy $35 for another one.

Voltages go in steps usually 5,9,12,20V for phone chargers but the actual charging voltage may vary. If I I recall correctly it does charge at 9V but only in certain situations.

No quick charge 2.0? That's a real bummer

I have a nice collection of quick charge 2.0 chargers around the house, so this is a real negative blow if true.

It still charges very fast with the stock charger.
Old news by the way.
What do you mean "if true"? Google stated that in their reddit AMA and now there is an article with real world test data showing it. Are you still hoping it is all wrong?

I was going to say this as well. Google is all about proper standards and not going proprietary (probably part of their "Dont be evil" motto). It will suck for a while since USB Type C is not widely adopted yet but soon enough it will be.
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/google-nexus-6p,review-3131.html
"Google claims that when the phone's battery finally dies, the Nexus 6P can recover up to 7 hours of juice from only 10 minutes of charging with the included charger. After 10 minutes, the phone's power level went from 0 to 32 percent. At the 20-minute mark, the phone had a 48 percent charge."
I see why they didn't bother with the expense of getting qc certification. This is insanely fast charging. The first 10 minutes is roughly 3% per minute! All I need now are 3rd party charger options and I know aukey, anker and tronsmart among others are working on it and I'm confident we'll see cost effective options available in the next month max.

So they tested a few. A lot of them worked, as in charging quickly, fast or "rapidly". Please read the article...tsk tsk...
It's a good thing I purchased a few Aukey and Tronsmarts that were just on sale recently. And I'm sure a lot of us jumped on those deals too, so a lot of us are good.

I don't know what I was thinking honestly. I guess I just wanted some other opinions. I know it will be all good down the road. It just sucks that I have a good 3 or 4 chargers that won't be able to get the job done as fast anymore. I did read the entire article, but it looks like they've updated it a couple times since.
Actually whichever phone you may get, there would be some missing features always. Better cope with it and wait for the next editions.
Quick charge, fast charge, turbo charge... It's all essentially the same..

WRONG
Quickcharge is more efficient with the same cable. Fastcharge needs a thicker cable to work the same.
/intentionally being vague and not explaining the electronics theory behind my wild claims in order to get a rise out of the un-aptly name sparky.
To add to this, USB Power isn't dumb.. there's a handshake involved where the device says what it needs. You can have a charger capable of 1.21 jiggawatts if you like, if it thinks the device caps out at 2A, that's what it'll send. It needs to understand the chargng protocol in use.

Not true,
Quick charge works by increasing the voltage, with varying charging profiles. The following are the profiles of the Nexus 6 charger:
Standard - 5V x 1.6A = 8W
Turbo 1 - 9V x 1.6A = 14.4W
Turbo 2 - 12V x 1.2A = 14.4W
The Nexus 6P power brick charges at 5V x 3A = 15W

You've probably heard of quick charging, turbo charging, adaptive fast charging, rapid charging, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 before - or at least one or two of these things. What you may not know is that all of them are actually basically the same thing, based on the same licensed technology from Qualcomm known as Quick Charge.
With that basic premise in mind, what I want to dispel in this article is the notion that you need an OEM-branded charger to get the maximum charging speed out of your smartphone, because this generally isn't true. And understanding that could save you a fair bit of money, especially if your phone doesn't come with a quick charger, or you need a second one for work or travel.

That has nothing to do with charging over usb c... That's in regard to qualcomms tech being called different things by the marketing of different manufactures... motorola calls their turbo...
edit: There's a big difference between charging at varying voltage and current, than not. You can't really call them the same thing even know the end result is pretty similar

No, the whole point is that the OP can still use those chargers he already has and get the same result.
Good news folks.
The 5X has a QC 2.0 chip. http://9to5google.com/2015/10/22/nexus-5x-teardown-repairability/
The 6P likely has the same (we'll have to wait and see).
Now the question is when will the devices be certified and the chip enabled.

It is insanely fast. I have a Chromebook Pixel that uses the type-c connector. It's faster than both my turbo charger and Samsung's fast charger. Most of my connectors are the regular USB. I didn't buy a lot of QC chargers other than what came with my phones, and one Motorola turbo charger.
Funny, was just watching the 5x teardown - condensed version - and they mention quick charge 2.0 chip was there.
Then I was reading about the n6 for $270 on eBay, and they mention this about qc 2.0;
can regain six hours of power after 15 minutes of charging with Motorola's special turbocharger that features Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
We get 7 hrs with 10 min charging time on the 6p, with a bigger battery.
Guess which I prefer to have .....
the bottom line is how long will it take from 0-100% charged

Indian users only get a single voltage charger

Didn't anyone else notice that Indian users are the only ones that get a single voltage charger?
That means we cannot use this charger on 100V supply. Which means trouble if you travel around the world or even in the long distance trains.
The other worldwide users get through 100-240V charger so they don't have this problem.
When I saw the specifications for the Indian charger it first mentioned 100-240V and after I raised the issue, they changed the specifications to what is visible now. Luckily I took a screen shot.
My problem is that the charger is useless, not what I saw when I bought the phone and now oneplus will not let me return it.
I actually cannot believe how no one else is affected by this.
Dude, its 200-240V only. At least in my pack. I purchased 24th June.

i just hope, 110v charger will work on my indian op5. since i bought this in india but going to use it in canada. and i had to order canadian voltage charger. hoping it won't effect dash charging.
But they say its a true global phone. xD
I've got the 100-240v charger. Ordered the phone in the Netherlands a few weeks back.
Nerver saw a 200-240 chager, maybe they put this on due to some regulations in the country, but it would probably work on 120v. Since the voltage is lower, it will not damage it in any way. Any modern charger got 100-250v input.
There are no such regulations.
When contacted they say I must use a converter. This simply means that the charger will not support 110V.
I've got a 200-240V Charger!
Yes, whereas all of us should have gotten a 100-240V charger.
I recommend raising an issue with oneplus.
As of the moment, I'm the only one fighting this.

Powerbanks with Supercharge (not just Fast charge)

Hi! I'm aware that QC 3.0 powerbanks do not fast charge the mate 10. I'm also aware that Huawei has 2 variations... Fast (9V2A) and Super (4.5V5A) charging. Does anyone know of powerbanks that SUPER charge the phone (not just Fast charge)?
The main one I've seen recommended is the Huawei AP09S - but this is no longer available in most places, and where it is available, the price is around £60+ with a long delivery time. so not worth it. Are there any cheaper alternatives that people have found?
I found this article: https://www.androidauthority.com/power-banks-huawei-phones-823403/ But I think maybe that writer is not aware of Fast charge and Super Charge, and is just listing powerbanks capable of Fast charge? I'm looking for Super charge. Thanks!
There is only one powerbank with supercharge, the AP09S you already mentioned.
I got mine from tvc-mall: https://www.tvc-mall.com/details/hu...or-huawei-p10-mate-9-black-sku101705094a.html

hmm that's what I was worried about. It's adding to my list of regrets after buying a huawei phone. I'm in the UK, and TVC Mall are quoting $200+ dollars to ship it to my location. Elsewhere I've found it for ~$85- $105 but shipping is slow and its a rip off compared to the fact that QC 3.0 powerbanks can be had for $30. In that case I will probably have to go with a powerbank that supports Huawei Fast charge, and not supercharge, like the ones listed in the android authority article. Do you know how much slower it is than supercharge?

Yes I think I may have to settle for a Fast charger at this point, although it would have been nice to have the fastest! Do you have one yourself?

The Huawei power bank does both, supercharges the phone and supercharges itself. I think other powerbanks fast charge the phone, but do not fast charge themselves (as far as I know)

Thanks! Although postage is actually £10 in both of those, making the total cost £60, which is triple the price of equivalent QC 3.0 powerbanks, which seems like a rip-off to me! For now I need a powerbank for my trip to the US next week and I think I'm going to order a powerbank that Fast charges the Mate 10, and I'm holding out some hope that it might also SUPERcharge the mate 10 - this forum post claims this third party powerbank is able to do it (one user has a screenshot from Ampere and states fast charge and super charge: https://forums.androidcentral.com/h...ing-power-bank-battery-low-cost-mate-9-a.html

There is a video where the guy points out that it says "fast charging" on the Mate 9, so the powerbank probably does not support SuperCharge.
I can use any QuickCharge 3 powerbank to fastcharge my Mate 10 Pro, but only with the AO09s it will say Supercharge.

But if it only Fast charges, and charging isn't quick enough for my liking, then I'll have to order the huawei one when I get back. *sigh, really didn't foresee these problems before buying huawei. Snapdragon phone would have been a lot easier to get root and xposed on, and buy accessories like powerbanks for

Fast charge should get you from zero to 100% in three hours or less, so it's not quite as bad as most people think. Just stay away from the old 5V/1A chargers!
I have to say I'm more than a little miffed by the lack of AP09Ss on AliExpress at the moment - nothing listed and all previous listings have been pulled. Don't know if they're in short supply, if Huawei's clamping down on non-retail sales, or if they've found them too expensive to post. I'll keep an eye out for them; I'm happy with my generic QC3.0 power bank at the moment (and ecstatic with my Huawei SuperCharge car adaptor), but wouldn't mind a SuperCharge power bank if I stumble on one at the right price (i.e., less than the current asking prices).
I guess the AP09S will hit European markets soon.
I saw aGerman seller shipping directly from Germany:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/Huawei-1000...542274719?clk_rvr_id=1439463082090&rmvSB=true
Also, Amazon.de has it listed with price directly sold from them, but not in stock:
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B077TB39W5...de-21&linkId=60427f6a94ffbb08e525910cfb93d18a
Tried to buy one from https://www.tvc-mall.com/details/hu...or-huawei-p10-mate-9-black-sku101705094a.html, have been told it is a problem to send it to US.
Is it?
Did anyone manage to get one delivered to the UK or know of any alternatives?
I've just got my Mate 10 Pro today and I'm coming from a Note 8, so need to replace my Anker PowerBank (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B012SNMWCK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which charges it fine, but would like Supercharge support.

Lol. Just use your phone for a while i think coming from the note 8 you will be surprised how little your need for a powerbank will be.
If you already have a powerbank keep using it. I think the price is not worth the little improvement.
I have seen it is available on amazon.co.uk. alternatively you can have a look on ebay - it should be around 50 pounds.

replacement charger for razer 2?

Good morning!
I am looking to buy an additional qc 4.0 charger for my phone. The stock razer one is 24w, but a lot of the ones I am seeing on the web are 30w.
Will the additional 6w cause a problem for the phone in the long run? I would rather buy the razer one for the extra bucks than create a battery issue or some other kind of problem.
Thank you for your input!

Not even joking, I've been using a 45w charger at work for 2 months now with 0 issues. Always kept a mini fan on it so it doesn't heat up at all as well to be safe.
But I use the device from the attached image to monitor the current flowing.
Ur 45w is a qc4?
I'm also reading that we can use pd chargers as well? I don't mind ordering another one from razer, but was hoping to be able to buy one locally if possible. I also want to know if it's safe to borrow one etc.
Good tip on the meter, I've been meaning to buy one anyway.
Any others?
The hammer has a 28w adapter. If you buy it (the one called Luo Yonghao's cell phone, um, hammer)(Google Translate is very straightforward)
