Please, we need Lineage or AOSP for our Phone. - Huawei P10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Why there is still no Lineage or a different Rom out yet? I dont mean the fRoms with stock, i mean stock Android.
Please i want stock Android on the Phone, i hope in future there will be roms.

I'm on your side, but I thing it's not gonna happen. Nobody wants to make a new rom for 5 users. The P10 community is way too small and Huawei made it not really easy.
One thing, I would miss with AOSP is the usage of the finger print sensor. I don't know if it's possible on stock.

I mean for the P9 there is lineage 14, it would be enough to me, there is no need for the newest android 8 lineage 15 rom, it would take also long until we would get lineage 15 for the p10, but stock android 7 is all i want to have.

And why do you want that?
Huawei kirin is not the best one for Lineage but for emui it is.
You will lost some great features if you install lineage.
If that's your favorite Android you should think about change your phone to Pixel or similar phones.

Yeah I can understand your point of view, and maybe it's not the best for stock android, but my P10 was a gift and in the moment I ain't able to buy a pixel sadly. Is it really that hard to build lineage 14.1 for the P10? I don't come along with emui it's just don't my thing, it's for me just like iOS for android and I don't like it, I love stock android and it would be amazing if there would be coming out a aosp or lineage rom.

I also had difficulties getting used to EMUI, but with the right theme (you can even install a pixel theme!) and Nova launcher, the look and feel are quite ok, I think.

Yeah thats true, there are a lot of themes out, but sadly not one has it all right. One theme have different colors in the download-section some gray and black statusbar icons and other one have false status bar icons on it self then it would be in stock, so i tried to get a complete theme by using the theme editor from the play store but it isnt working at all sadly, so i have to make compromises and thats not feeling nice if u want to have a stock oreo/nougat experience. So i really hope that there will be roms in future, if its needed i would have with all i can, test alpha builds etc, somehow the development must going to start at least now.

I wasn't a fan of EMUI at first but have to say I have gotten used to it and really do like it. Not a fan of most OEM overlays but this is one of the better.
Have you tried Lawnchair? On my G4 I used that from the get go and it was still in development and new versions released all the time but was only getting better for fully stock N/O feel. I haven't been following it since this but may be worth a look?
Haven't looked into yet either to see what it's like as still at work, but just had this YouTube recommendation come through on my phone too.

You dont even need such a launcher like nova or lawnchair, u can download the official Pixel 2 Launcher from here, from xda, just the official apk.
And i think when i use the Pixel 2 Launcher, i need to have the complete Android Pixel Stock expierience, its not mention to have any of the Pixel Launcher with that EMUI around it, its my opinion and i am maybe to much pernickety in such things, but thats how i am, and because of that i really wanna have a Android Stock Rom on this device.

[Q] MIUI ROM on MEDIAPAD ???

possible MIUI rom ported to MediaPad?
I see MIUI rom on Nexus 7 it's so cool... :crying:
miui nexus 7 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841208
I've never been a fan of miui roms, they look so much like iphone ui, and all those colored icons and layouts make the device look like a tablet for kids.
if it's even possible to port a rom to the mediapad i prefer something from samsung 7" tablets, the look of touchwiz is really special.
I don't think anyone is working on a MIUI rom. I personally wouldn't want to turn my tablet into a giant phone, since to my knowledge they haven't implemented a tablet UI yet. It seems like there aren't many developers working on ROMs for our device as it is, I say let them work on trying to get HDMI on Jelly Bean instead.
HTC sense from flyer would be great if someone port it

There's a very large library of themes to change the colored icons and menus. Even still, I don't think the default looks at all like the iPhone.
I have MIUI on my phone and absolutely love it. Menus, toggles, drop down/pop-ups are so much cleaner. Would be awesome to have on my tablet too.

Remember when cyanogenmod team brought life back to all our old phones? i was one of the lucky ones to get my HTC WILDFIRE supported by CM. at the same time MIUI pulled the middle finger and said F**K YOU!! we only develop for the the powerul devices.
what's the point of an after-market ROM when it dosn't support devices with few features.
after all, we are still stuck with two CM and AOKP ROMs that are not qualified enough to be used daily! how can we now start on MIUI?
it's useless
i'm sorry but that's the truth :crying: and i'm sad as F**K seeing all other devices on xda having tens of working ROMs.
we need more developers. i'm not one, but i help testing and do all my best to get something working.
huawei published all ics sources long time ago. It doesn't seems that's not helping, we already have an unlocked bootloader by default... pointless complaint imho, we only need interested developers

From my understanding, the T-Mo springboard is a redone Huawei Mediapad. The Springboard here has a very very small userbase, however the mediapad in China (from what I understand) has a much larger base. Given that MIUI is developed in China... I would think that the tablet might get some attention.

[Q] Time to think beyond stock?

Ive been using stock roms from the time i got my kenzo. Stock roms are great and so much feature rich. The recent launch of MiUi 10 has many interesting features and it has made me think if I should go back to MiUi just for the visual experience. I mean user experience is also important right. What do you guys feel?
Quite a subjective question. I only use miui like a week. I don't the visuals nor the amount of crapware it has.

Agree, few like MIUI and few like me hate it from the core of the heart. I kept my phone in drawer for 14 days until I was able to unlock the bootloader. I can't stand MIUI, I can still use buggy AOSP rom instead of stable MIUI.

Miui gives u good features. Good camera quality, audio experience, battery life too. It also has inbuilt call recorder. But it has stock gapps which u may not use all and consider it as unnecessary bloat.
Even if it has so many features people mostly prefer higher android version and go with custom roms. Coz it has better performance, security and new innovative features and much improved core structure.
As mentioned before, I've never seen anyone neutral about miui. This ROM is made and optimized for xiaomi devices and there are many features only miui can give compared to others. The convenience and the visual experience, the smoothness of miui kept me going back to it again and again - Epic ROM Miui9 was the best build I've tried and used for a 6-8 months. Now I use oreo RR, because this is now on a level to compete user experience with miui... I mean this was... before miui 10.
Now I really hope that both, android P and miui 10 will be ported to this device, and I can try both before decide. I love my oreo setup now, but this is getting boring after months of use...

Its the same thing with me.. Oreo setup with AEx rom is cool bt its getting boring now and all stock roms have more or less the same features. Miui 10 videos are too tempting to give a try wen its out.

MIUI GSI

Hey guys, I found this
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/gsi/MIUI/
Do you think this images could work on our device?
Why did you get a mi a3 if you wanted miui? Redmi note 7 or mi 9cc have miui.
And why would you actually want memeui on your device in the first place.
Better to stick with something with little bloat

Because of the features, I know some people who prefer MIUI over stock because of some of the features that it provide. There are people who likes the MIUI look than the stock look. I know people who really adore the so called "bloatware". Also MIUI used to provide better battery life than stock android back in the day, but I don't know how's that situation right now.
That should explain your "Why?" concern

And so ..... Will it work or not? Because your answer does not solve the question at all. I'm glad you're happy with Android stock, but there are other people who want to try MIUI (by the way, calling it MEMEUI wasn't funny the first time, so you can end calling it that way) so just let other people do whatever they want without judging them..
Stock android is really boring compared to miui. I always root so adverts are not a problem. Miui has matured into a very good rom, which useful features & battery life. I wanted to give android one a try, but so far not impressed. I am sure its the same way many others feel too. You can move from miui to aosp (treble) but cant move from Android One to Miui, which makes me admit that Miui phone is even a superior choice.

For me stock android is the best rom ever, i really don't care about bullshits that xiaomi call features ? The faster rom have one name : Stock Android

To every smart developer out there.

devs are all busy making their own roms/Kernels or whatever, for example my poco f1 Has tons of roms while most of the users prefer to stay on the stock miui, others use Pixel Experience or LOS. The other 90% Of roms didn't change that much, so the idea is to be on the top of this game with a rom looking exactly like an ios device, based over miui but the main difference would be the theme, keeping the performance of miui with the look of ios, it would beat absolutely everything out there. I know that it would be more than difficult, but more than worth it simultaneously. So instead of developing many roms that may end up as a useless failed project, work on this idea and just imagine it being GSI too, would blow like hell, share your ideas about this if you can be helpful.
Skinning roms to look like IOS was a thing about 10 years ago. It never really took off.

Question Is the stock firmware buggy?

Okay, I might be pre-biased, but I have heard about Sony firmware being exceptionally buggy even after many updates. (By all means, this is not Sony-exclusive problem.)
Can people still using the stock firmware confirm whether it is acceptable for daily use? How often do you reboot the phone?
I was actually planning on buying the phone with the suspicion that I will have to install LineageOS right away. Is there any experince of running LineageOS on it? Do all the nice features, like 4k screen, work?

Hey there, I hope you're doing okay
Answering your question, yes, upgrading from a stock rom to a custom rom will make your experience a lot better. not only in performance, in battery , and customization
and even better if you root + stock rom, that's it. your phone value will increase because not only can you experience the latest Android 13 but you can also do multitasking work very smoothly
Also, battery consumption will be reduced twice, and you can customize it starting from the icons, status bar, and lockscreen. Not only that, you can also install root modules
i mean, you can also use xiaomi camera app on your sony phone camera
think about it with sony camera and xiaomi camera software
If you can do everything, i will consider not buying a new phone rather than saving that money and investing it to make more money and buy an iPhone, but still, Android is better
I hope you liked my reply
Please like it and follow me. I will be very apreciative. Thank you so much

bro and also, there are more roms than lineagos, so think about it

Sony Xperia 1
The Sony Xperia 1 is a 6.5" phone with a 1644x3840p display. The Snapdragon 855 chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage. The main camera is 12+12+12MP and the selfie camera is 8MP. The battery has a 3330mAh capacity.

It makes no sense to install a custom ROM on a phone like the Xperia 1 close to launch. All the unique features of the phone (mainly the cameras) are locked behind the Sony custom API that is used by the stock apps running on the Sony app framework.
So at the very least you will need a Magisk module that ports over the latest version of the app framework to any generic ROM, and then install the stock (camera) apps.
Personally, I find the stock ROM close enough to AOSP that I haven't felt a need to install any custom ROM for the past 5 years now. When you install a custom ROM you are simply trading Sony bugs for things like missing implementations, partial hardware support etc.
There is nothing buggy. It's close to the os pixels launch with, their custom version of AOSP.
Just has a few more apps for camera stuff.
As an owner of the major flagship devices, this is the best all around experience and the best camera.
I recently had a Xiaomi 13 pro and thought it'd camera was best, nah this beats it and the os is leagues better. I have a pixel 7 pro also and I honestly won't ever use it again in comparison and I have the best roms I could build for it.
And as the others have said lineage is not an immediate thing anyone should just flash, and it's one of a gazillion roms and definitely not the first ROM I would flash...
