Can I Use More Than One Ad Network? - General Monetization

You can work with more than one Ad Network at once. Splitting your ad inventory and working with more than one Ad Network can get your fill rate up to 100%, maximizing your revenues, but you might spend a lot of time managing them.
My recommendation is to try a mediation solution like Fyber, Tappx, Ironsource, Appodeal… Basically these services connect in real time, with hundreds of demand sources in the search of the highest paid ad for you. They do the dirty job and you only focus on coding
Bonus track: Tappx also get users for FREE for your app/game because of their cross-promotion app developer community

All networks have their up and downs which is what makes mediation such a useful tool. Even without mediation, you can absolutely add multiple networks to your app. In the past, SDK integration was a serious pain, taking up lots of valuable time and resources.
Now, you can integrate all of the services that providers offer without ever having to touch an SDK again. With little to NO coding at all and without touching source code, Enhance® is the easiest way to integrate 3rd party services into your project or to keep them up to date. (Ads, Mediation, Analytics, Attribution, Crash Reporting and more) No more SDK integration!!!
Gone are the days of spending hours or even days implementing and updating SDKs. How does a few clicks and a few minutes sound? Well, follow the link for more information on how to get started with Enhance® : https://goo.gl/kufiQQ

Also you can setup eCPM floors with ad mediation and the ad networks compete with each other to fill your request.

What could be the top 5 best Ad Networks out there? I'm thinking of adding more because others say they do have more than 3 ad networks.

There is really no way to answer what the BEST network is. Your best bet is to go with the ones you know of to start.
Most times, what works well for one developer, doesn't work for the next one.
You can easily experiment with networks when integrating with Enhance.
Add more networks or swap them out for another one with a few clicks of the mouse.
Its that quick.

This will always change depending on the advertiser's campaigns and time of the year. Also, depending on the app's geo, target audience, amount of impressions and DAU, each ad network will provide a different result in different times of the year.
Also, hen you work directly with networks, you spend lots of time adjusting the waterfall manually.
I recommend you to try mediation. With this, you can implement several ad networks at the same time and make them compete, so you will always get the highest paying bid.
Check out Appodeal. And FYI, if you already have a good setup with a particular ad network, you can keep it and still integrate other networks with Appodeal's SDK.

Many of you have probably already read the news:
Apple, Google Receive Phone Users' Locations
I must say, they're doing it to a degree beyond what most of us may have assumed was taking place.
How can we stop this? Do we know if cooked ROMs also do it?

Its not that they care where you are personally, you're more of an anonomous statistic to them. They use these huge mountains of collected data to decide which markets are the most potentially lucrative fir them to invest their zillions of dollars of advertising and marketing money into. You and I will likely never be directly affected by our locations being disclosed, save for more accurate search suggestions from our google search widgets.

What's with the useless comments defending these companies?
Can anyone answer the question - DO cooked ROMs also track your location?
According to this article, Android tracks the last 50 mobile masts and last 200 WiFi networks.
This is a problem, anyone have the solution?
I found this comment on one of the articles, does this explain it?
All mobile phones keep a record of the locations and unique IDs of the most recent mobile masts that it has communicated with. It's called the neighbour cell list and normally it enables the phone to connect to the network more quickly than it otherwise would. GSM mobile phones have done this since about 1992.
To see the benefits storing the neighbour cell list compare the time it takes a mobile to find a network after it is switched on in a new location, e.g., after a long flight, with the time it takes to find a network when the phone is switched on in the location where it was switched off.
The difference in the iPhone case is that the iPhone is keeping this information for such a long period of time.

That is about the iPhone storing, not about a device sending GPS location data day and night.
So far, the only mentioned potential solution is Droidwall.
I'm going to play around with that.
There's a related app named HiSurfing, but one reviewer says that does not work as well as DroidWall. Seems DroidWall does a better job of keeping things from slipping out when they've been blocked.

The only viable option I can see to block is "10052: Network Location, Google Calendar Sync, Google Services Framework, Google Contacts Sync."
Problem is, I use some of these.
I have ultimate juice defender it has a section in it where you can control how and when apps connect to the network, but I don't know if it will stop the Droid from phoning home.

Yea, it uses a different listing number on my device, but "Network Location, Google Calendar Sync, Google Services Framework, Google Contacts Sync" may be the one to disable to stop the device from phoning home. I sync my data locally (via MyPhoneExplorer), so I can't think of any personal need for those, I've disabled that from all network and WiFi connectivity.
I've done some testing (blocking an app I could test with) and the firewall continues to work even after exiting DroidWall and even after killing DroidWall with a task killer. That's good to see so it won't be any burden on the battery.
I'm not any expert that can test for "certain" whether my device has really stopped phoning Google with my location data, but this seems to be the best shot for now.

That's because DroidWall is just an interface for iptables, the built-in firewall. So your battery life will not change at all, that's correct.

I'm new to Droid, I really don't know how to test and see, it does stop other app really well, as far as a OS I don't know.
From what i here it's all stored in a location history file.
One simple solution might be to routinely delete this file.
Doesn't exactly solve the problem.
Might we consider expanding the subject to protecting our privacy? If not, I apologize in advance, as I think it is all connected.
It is probably Darnell's call, as he started the thread.
In the meantime, please consider this article: http://bit.ly/gCynrh
So let me understand this. I buy access to a network for my phone, which I also paid for. My location information, which is the result of my purchases is being used to generate income. So I'm allowing my spent cash to generate data and be leveraged to generate income. My information wouldn't exist with out my investment in the technology, so I own it.
I'm paying to be stalked !!!
Reduce my bill, provide remuneration for my investment in this technology, prove that it's anonymous, remember since I paid for the means to generate the data- the data belongs to me.
BTW for $1.50 I'll wire the battery to switch off, try getting data then.
I'd rather have an app which monitors my relevant info and bills the users for access to it.

[Q] Run multiple Ad Networks at once?

Hello! Two quick questions but they might answer each other:
1) Is it possible to run multiple ad networks at the exact same time, thus showing two ads on one screen from different ad networks?
2) Is it possible with any (popular) ad network to show multiple ads at the exact same time to increase profit?
The reason I ask is because I want to make a page in my app in which the user chooses to go through pages of apps instead of donating to me to show appreciation. Just wondering if there was a way to show multiple ads to get multiple incomes off the same pageview.
Thanks for any responses!

Yes you can run multiple ad networks on the same page, you can even put multiple ads from the same network on a page.
DesktopAd allows you to run multiple ad networks ads on the same page and run multiple ads from DesktopAd on one page. You just need to set you source code, call which one ad interface or both two ad interfaces. I am using 2 banners and 1 pop-ups on one page in my Windows 8.1 games. They bring me more ads revenue as a result.
Yes you can run multiple ad networks on the same page
Here is how I combine multiple ad networks
Admob + Adsota + Appstart
It is kinda weird that the least known Ad mobile network Adsota seems to work best for me. ITs eCPM is decent, quick and smooth SDK integration, quick payment. You will earn more with it. You can find it by googling "ads.appota"
Be careful
Don't use multiple ads at the exact same time. It's a violation of policy.
Think as a user. He don't click more than one ad in one session. If you want to get him a choice use offerwalls.
Maybe you should look at the video ads instead of placing more than 1 banner on single page.
It is more understandable by users and do not violate policies.

Place an appwall in your app, that would be the best solution I'ld say as user is accessing the appwall freely.

Hi!
Have you ever considered using Programmatic Mediation instead of using several ad networks?
There are a lot of problems and daily routines associated to use several ad networks at the same time that keeps you away on your core task (developing):
- many sign ups
- different SDK integrations
- sources of data for analysis
- different payments methods
- etc..
There are so many good programmatic solutions out there (Supersonic, Fyber, Mopub,..). I would personally recommend Appodeal. They are veterans of the industry and IMO they have the best "all in one" solution in the market
Hoping this helps
Cheers!!
Could you contact me, so I will share more details regarding this way of monetization? My Skype: anna_bashyrova.clickky
Also be careful with banner placement - I had a top banner that was obscuring a part of the UI (nothing clickable, just a label+image) and I got an email from google to fix it or they will take down the app in 30 days or so.

[Q] Help with my first game.

Hi I just finished a beta game. Now I am looking to see about making some money from it.
Below are some ad networks I heard of.
AdMob
TapJoy
AdColony
Chartboost
I am also planning on doing some. Crowdfunding.
Am I able to hard code the ads into my APK? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You should check out Avocarrot http://www.avocarrot.com
What I can tell you is that AdColony is really useful for "friendly user in-app purcheses". If you do not have any kind of bonuses go for AdMob. I am not too experienced so don't take my word for sure. It is just what I feel.
Hi,
I think if you upload your app to Google Play, you should use AdMob because with other ad networks, your app could be have some ads which illegal terms and conditions of Google Play Store.
IMO AdMob is by far the best and safest option.
Try it yourself several networks - dynamically connect / disconnect them through admob mediation.
The profitability of the network depends on the type of application. I have two applications,
for the first application gives more income - admob, for the second - mmedia.
If I were you, I'd choose AdMob or InMobi or AirPush. They have each pros and cons but overall, they're good.
I will recomand AdMob, it's by far safest.
Thanks for the recco @Tramphram
OP aka @glascor, I work for InMobi so if you need any help, do write to us at developer at inmobi.com and we can help you out. Love the community here
I will also recommend Admob for a start but I heard some good feedback about Mopub which you can attach your Admob account.
Recommend to Admob, it's safety and great support.
I have used Admob, StartApp, and Adsota. And here is my opinion:
Very safe, but low on earnings: Admob
Safe, high on earning: Adsota
Safe, various ad format, acceptable earnings: StartApp
I didn't use that, but heard Admob and eCPM are bad, and mobfax is ok. you can try.

How exactly are you monetizing uninstalls? Wont that be very annoying for the user? First they hate my app and don't want it, and then they need to watch some type of ad too? Doesn't sound like a good way to get good reviews...
Exactly my thoughts
Uninstall Monetization
$$$$$$$$$
Actually find a new way wanted your opinion about.
I have my flag app with over 1M install called Signal Boosters (Fred Baker)
I was trying to monetize creating my own offerwall and taking offers from the networks, long story, that didn't really hit the jackpot for me.
I had a huge problem of uninstalls (70%) since the walls didn't really work so I got really interested in the uninstall event and how to capture it.
Over a year I was able to capture the uninstall event using and launch a browser at the moment of uninstallation without leaving any traces or processes running on the devices afterwards (no trojans or anything that gets you banned)
(I saw some very popular and known apps use this implementation to survey the users that uninstalled and that was my inspiration)
I wasn't sure how to use it without pissing off someone and if it's actually allowed so I integrated it in my app and never talked to anyone about it.
A month ago or so I came across a company called APPJOLT doing exactly that.
I registered and entered their dashboard and saw they developed a whole system around this technique with the purpose to offer your users an incentive to come back to your app or cross-promote to other apps.
They have an option for free cross-promotion campaign so it hit me right away I can use their system with a CPI offer I took for my offerwall from one of the networks, so at the moment of uninstall it will show the offer and I will get paid for it.
I couldn't believe it but it worked, I see almost 1K uninstalls a day and generate around 70 conversions which generates $30-50 a day.
Not sure if I hit gold or not, just wanted to ask the members of this forum how can I improve this flow? or am I missing anything?
$$$$$$$$$
Please be aware that it might be against google policy. There is no notification about that your app has been uninstalled (or the uninstallation started), so they use background service that checkes if the user is currently trying to uninstall your app. Also, the earnings reported here are very high (eCPM $30 - $50), while ad networks pay usually between $1 - $3 for interstitial ads, I don't think you can get such high eCPM for uninstallations, I would expect something at least 10x lower.
Cool idea but it's hard to make it practical and implement it. So, how exactly are you monetizing from uninstalls I wonder..
I can guaranty you that you will get A LOT of 1 star. I will for sure install the game again just to give it 1 star.

How to make money from app?

Hi everybody!
I am a developer and want to monetize my app.
Can you advice me ad networks? or other ways to do that?
Thank you so much!
2 ways
There are two main ways to make money from mobile app.
One: you create an app and charge people for using it. You decide they should pay you through app purchase or in-app purchase. People usually don't buy an app unless it's very popular. So I suggest you offer in-app purchase. You can let them use one part of the app free (to make them like it) and pay money to use the app completely.
Two: you create a free app and allow advertisers to put their ad in your app. You and advertisers will work through a mediate platform. I have used 3 mobile ad platform: Admob, StartApp, Adsota. And I recommend Adsota & Admob. StartApp is ok but the 2 other two just work better for me,
In case you want to show video ads, instead of banners/pictures. I heard that AdColony is great for video advertising. But haven't used it myself yet.
We are living in 2015, so now free-app model much more popular, then paid
Admob + In-app purchases is the best way, I suppose
In XDA, there is a thread "how to monetize your android application". that is to tell you how to monetize your application. that worth you to read if you want to make money from App.
3 ways is minimum
You should cover all users. Some can pay, some can watch video to get some features in your app, other can see banner or other static ads. The main thing is your app's quality. Good luck!
I would recommend adding ads to your app and create a version that users can buy to remove the ads, win win situation
An amazing website!

Hello! There are many sites like admob.
You should try to promote your app using companies like "Waypedia". They even make a marketing strategy for your app!
Work on building brand awareness by making profiles in the social networks, set up a website, use Google Adwards, create a blog for the user, etc.

Hi there!
There are a bunch of ad networks that are doing pretty good job. But have you consider to work with multiple ad networks at the same time? One way should be signing up on each ad network a be sure that you don't miss any possible and potential revenue. But there's an intelligent way to do that, this is, trying Programmatic Mediation. There are few good companies like Fyber, Sueprsonic or Appodeal, the one I am using and the one I am completely satisfied.
Whatever you choose, the advantages are clear:
- 1 sign up, 1 SDk all the market
- Higher incomes because they operate globally
- Higher fillrate because the pool of advertisers is the biggest, because you will work with all of them
- Because everythiong in Mediation is programmatic you will have more time to focus on developing than managing your ad inventory
- Probably your earning will boost
Ping me if I can help you by providing more info
Cheers!

I would like to monetize my app thanks to Admob, mMedia or Inmobi. Advantages and drawbacks of these mediate platforms?
Explore Clickky monetozation solution
I’m sure that with Clickky ad formats as well as optimization engine you can increase earnings from mobile advertising.
With one of the strongest demand in the industry, we can guarantee max fill rates as well as high eCPMs. For top publishers, our eCPM rates easily reach $15.
In case you may be already satisfied with your current advertisement earnings; however, what we offer is to help you to monetize unsold inventory, to scale up to fill rates in specific geos or overall eCPM increase thanks to integrating Clickky monetization tools.
By being connected to most ad exchanges and mediators in the industry, our Clickky team strives to maximize fill rates of our publishers and; therefore, to increase their revenue. We'll adapt to your preferences – in case your fill rates are low in, for example, the European region – we'll make sure to provide you with an appropriate demand and so much more...
It also depends on your app - what does it do?
If it's a game with somewhat fast level clearing(~1-3 minutes), you could add an interstiital every 3 levels or so.
Add a top/bottom banner and an in-app purchase to remove them completely.
For games you can also reward in-game coins for the user if they watch a video ad. Think there was an article regarding this -> and it was the least intrusive ad, most people would watch a video ad if they got some sort of in-game reward.

Different monetization models for mobile apps:
Premium: users pay to have access the app.
Freemium: there is a "free" limited version of the app for the users to test before they decide to get the full version.
Subscriptions: payments are made weekly/monthly/yearly.
In-app advertising: keeps the app free to play, developers profit implementing ads in different formats (banner, native, videos, interstitials, etc.)
In-app purchases: users need to pay to have access to certain elements or special features of the app. But the app itself is still free.
All of these models can be combined. Experienced developers have had good results mixing in-app ads with in-app purchases.
The most popular monetization model is in-app ads (free to play). To implements this model in your app you can choose an ad network, or go with mediation.
I would say mediation is the best you can do, since it makes several ad networks compete in real time, so you can get the highest paying bid. Try Appodeal! You can integrate various ad networks in one stable SDK. And with the help of their 24/7 support team, installing it in your app should be fast and easy.
