Can't unlock bootloader - Huawei P20 Lite Questions & Answers

No Huawei site links are reachable.
DC Unlocker doesn't seem to recognise the modem/phone.
Even if it did, paying seems weird to me.
How/where did you guys unlock your bootloader?
(Got the phone 2 days ago, so far so good)

Root done !! with DC Unlocker but you must pay 4 €.. i've rooted the P20 lite into 10 minutes
Guide: download the ultimate versione of the tool
Set Manifacturer to Huawei Phone
re detection Huawei Android phones, enable 'Manufacture' mode:
in dial pad type *#*#2846579#*#* for Qualcomm and Kirin based models and set into Background/Usb ports setting Manifacture mode
Auto detect Model ( just download drive from here : https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei_phones_detect_unlock_tutorials ) you need it for the ports usb check
Buy the 4 credit and login in the app with your DC user & pass. now read the bootloader code and save it... done!
Just follow the root guide in this forum to unlock the bootloader with the code.

Currently Huawei's bootloader unlock website is down.
You are able to request unlock codes via this Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeGwoQ44zqykuTfjCQrVP07JOHBYnBcAxAbz9SAVxPTFqMh9g/viewform
More info here: https://www.xda-developers.com/honor-huawei-bootloader-unlock-page-disappears/
Hope it helps.
EDIT: it seems the Google Doc is no longer available. Let's hope they open it again, or better, get the website up and running. *bump*

They're saying they're looking into it, but meh.
I mailed them yesterday and they said "Huawei Turkey doesn't support unlock codes" like what? Phone country is "EU", not "TR" anyway!

Turkey is an European country my brother, so perhaps when you contact Huawei in Europe they send it to a costumer support in some country. It also happened to me once, got a reply from Huawei France (and they solved my problem)

Where did you talk to them? They rejected me.
Also, what were you waiting for? They'll always say it will void your warranty.
Unless it's not a software issue, they have to take the phone and repair without asking for money.

I've talked with Huawei Customer Service (Hungary) by phone , with their call center, they told me anything happens, even if its hardware releated, its just voids the guarantee, so only paid fixing will be avaiable ...
They gave me an e-mail address, i need to fill a form, and they gonna send me the code.

I'm currently in process of unlocking it.
EU law especially specifies it to be repaired, even the bootloader is unlocked and/or the end-user has root access.
Huawei may talk like that, but that's because they're a Chinese brand. Of course they won't want you to change the firmware.
Samsung talks like that too (when KNOX is tripped after flashing custom firmware via Odin). They repair it.

[Q] help with samsung gio

Hi,
Somebody knows if is possible do a hardreset on Samsung Gio (have software unlock) without lose the unlock ?
The cellphone have Android 2.2
From the data I've gathered so far, the answer to this depends on your CSC customer.xml files.
If the files contain network lock codes, expect the phone to relock itself if there is no SIM in the phone at the time of the reset. It doesn't if it contains a "foreign" SIM that does not match the MNC in the customer.xml file. (I haven't tested with the "locked carrier" SIM to see if it did or not.)
Another thing to note is that the unlock code remains unchanged.
Goodbye,
Darkshado
Hi @Darkshado, thanks for your reply.
I buy this cellphone on ebay.
I only know the cellphone are unlocked via software.
Well... OK... If I do a hardreset... and the phone lose the unlock after this, and I not have the SIM of the original carrier...
Can I upgrade the cellphone to android 2.3.x and do a unlock again (exists unlock for this cellphone via software) ?
I very noob on android :S
Thanks.
It is quite possible the phone will remain unlocked after the factory reset.
You don't need, nor care about the original carrier's SIM.
Don't let the seller con you into paying a premium for the unlock on this phone model, as you can do it for free using information found here. Do not use the stl5 method as there is risk of bricking, bml5 is safe.
Next time, use the search engine right...

Hi, sorry... I'm ask because exists some things about Android world and I dont know this things
I have iPhone 3G during 1 year... and this is my first android...
Well... the principal reason to do this hard reset is because maybe the cellphone have a suspected app or spyware app... and... for security reasons... I want to do a hard reset... or maybe you can recommend me a other solution...
I see too is possible to upgrade the phone via Kies software (of Samsung)... this is true... the seller is from canada... but.. I'm from Peru... the carriers are diferent... you recommend me to upgrade the cellphone to android 2.3.x ?
Thanks.
Huge red flag here!
I live in Canada, and there are NO Galaxy Gio GT-S5660M that were released with Android 2.2. None, zero.
All the Bell Canada/Virgin Mobile Canada Gios are sold with Gingerbread 2.3.4. The model number is also different from the Europe/Asia version, notice the M added, the radio bands aren't the same either. (The 5660M would indeed be compatible with Claro in HSPA. The Euro 5660, not, only 2G GSM.)
The 5660M ROM does not have Spanish as a language option either. Only English, French and Korean (left over by Samsung for some reason...).
There is a 5660L some Latin-American users have mentioned. I'm not sure of the exact countries this is available in though. This would have proper radio bands and a Spanish ROM. It should be unlockable with the same bml5 method explained elsewhere on this forum.
If you think the seller is really in Canada and trying to scam you, contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police here (or just google for RCMP internet scams):
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/scams-fraudes/rep-sig-eng.htm
Last but not least, if the phone really had malware installed, a factory reset would not be enough to clear it, as the malware would likely reside in /system, which isn't wiped clean on a reset. You'd need to reflash the phone with a trusted safe firmware.
So, again, caveat emptor, and good luck.
Darkshado
P.S. Feel free to PM me the ebay link if you want me to look at it.
Hi... I send you a P.M.
Tell me... How I can now the exact model of the cellphone ? I only see in ebay the name of cellphone like "Samsung Galaxy S5660 Gio"
Thanks.
Hi again friend...
I talked with seller... and he tell me the phone is:
GT-5660 and confirm me the languages available are spanish and french... and have android 2.2
Then.... is possible to install spanish language ?
At this point, you'd have to ask the seller more questions.
I took a look at the eBay link you sent me, doesn't look as bad as I thought at first, but you still need to do your homework.
You said the seller was located in Canada, and at first I thought it was an individual trying to resell a single, used Galaxy Gio. It isn't the case, since this is an eBay store setup.
The first thing I'd be interested in if I wanted to buy a phone anywhere online, is to make sure that the radio bands are correct for the networks I want to use.
Not just GSM (most newer phones are quad-band 2G GSM) but especially 3G UMTS (HSPA). The frequencies used by competing carriers in a single country may even be different. Some carriers may have only 3G UMTS and no 2G GSM whatsoever.
The ad does not say what frequencies the phones are supposed to work on. Not something I'd expect from a competent, knowledgeable seller.
Have the seller take a clear, legible photograph of the sticker underneath the battery and show us that (with the IMEI blurred preferably). Also of interest would be the information in "About phone" listing: Phone model, Android version, Baseband, Kernel version, Build number.
With that information you'll be in a better position to decide if you still want to buy.
Or you could just get it from another seller, as there are a number of others offering both the Euro 5660 or American 5660M/5660L (they usually write just 5660 but state that its the North American version).
If it's not included, you should be able to get a ROM with Spanish working, either by using an Euro ROM on the 5660M (possible if you do it right) or if someone takes the time to upload the 5660L stock ROM.
I've said about all I could in this thread. Use the search engine, a lot, and feel free to ask more questions after you've exhausted that option.
A la proxima,
Darkshado
P.S. Yo hablo espanol un poquito: sufficiamente para no morir de hambre o de sed!
@Darkshado, thanks for your help.
I go to recover more information about this...
Thanks again
Hi... currently... I have Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-5660M in my hands now
The cellphone are very fast... I'm happy.
But now... I installed some applications (like a child with new toy ) and now I have problems with battery duration...
I want to do a hardreset... but... I need know if you recommend me this option.
I have this information about the cellphone:
*#1234#
PDA:S5660MUGKG3
PHONE:S5660MUGKG3
CSC:S5660MBMCKG3
In "About phone"
IMEI: 3XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Model Number: GT-S5660M
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: S5660MUGKG3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL413839 [email protected] #1
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.MUGKG3
And I see is from Bell Canada company (the carrier)... but... is unlocked... and I can use normally with my country carrier (Movistar Perú)
Thanks
Big problem... After hard reset I lost the unlock... And I can't root the cellphone

[Q] Debrand Telus RM-819?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to debrand a Telus RM-819 Cyan. I have searched but not really found anything about this particular model. My father has a unbranded USA RM-819 cyan which was won at a Microsoft conference, so If it is possible to "extract" the firmware and put it on mine, I suppose I could do that.
Thanks,
Jared

Hi,
No you can't "extract" the firmware and put it on your phone. (not for now anyway)
But the good news is you can debrand your phone to any variant you want (or like to your father one).
What you need is:
1. Navifirm+ - an app to download the debrand fw
2. Nokia Care Suite - an app to flash/load the fw into phone
3. Install & run "Nokia Care Suite" & follow the prompt and flash your phone
I have flash many many Lumia 800 with using this.
BUT PLEASE BACKUP !! BEFORE DO ANYTHING AS I CANNOT HOLD FOR ANY DAMAGED.
Let me know if you have trouble.
and Wish You Luck !!
Thank you for getting back to me
Can you tell me if this is the firmware I would want,
RM-819_NAM-US_CV_VAR191249_CYAN_V1 (059M190)
It is is listed on .11501. That appears to be the unbranded USA version?

Can you see ..12070 or newer?
It better to flash the newer one.
That appears to be the newest one available. I can always use the cab sender after to update to 12072?
*And also, here is what I have so far, Do I need to do anything or can I click start?

That's completely normal... You have to enter your SIM-card PIN code You need to do this every time you start a phone which uses SIM cards.
I see, well I bought the phone second hand so I was not given the code. I purchased an unlock code for $20 and it fixed the problem. Thanks for your help.

Couldn't you just swap the SIM card? I don't know if it doesn't work that way, but over here your phone number actually is linked to your SIM card. This means I would swap the SIM card anyway when I get the phone, and I'd get the code.
Telus apparently SIM locked this phone so only their SIM cards would work with it. I am in the US using it in Straight Talk (prepaid mvno), so I can't really swap out the SIM card as far as I Know.
one question ,is it possible that an unlocked lumia 800 was relocked after the debranding ?
because that just happenned to me. after installing an Australian firmware on the Telus Lumia, upon restart it said Sim Locked. good thing i still had the email when i purchased the unlock code and the same code worked again, but i dont get why changing firmware would relock the phone.

I guess that the phone, when bought officially unlocked is factory unlocked. Unlocking with a code obviously write something on the phone. That might be erased when doing a (full) flash of the phone. It does not seems to happens when using the zune or WP7-Update-Cab-Sender way (upgrading).

In theory the answer is No as this model should not be relock by after FW reflash/debrand.
Which Aus FW did you use & SW you flashed with?
You sure it said "Sim Locked" not something else?

I don't think it's possible. It's impossible to SIM UNlock it with flashing another ROM, because SIM lock is written on a special place in memory that shouldn't get flashed. So the other way round seems very strange to me...

I purchased the unlock code from http://www.mobileincanada.com/. It took about 2 hours to get. I should note that the previous owner of my phone (Telus RM-819) had it unlocked previously but that apparently gets cleared out when you reflash a firmware.

Good news for EU rooted users

Well, if you root, your warranty isn't void.
Translation from attached Screenshot:
Hello, we inform, that warranty will not be considered from results of unauthorized usage (including flashing new systems) phone will get damaged, or unauthorized system will prevent us from fixing your phone.
So, you can root, flash that audio mod, and you will be still good to go, if something will ever happen
it's regular EU law that protects your hardware defects independent from software.
1st: image can not be opened
2nd: i've had a conversation with zte support germany. they told me warranty would be void if the fon was rooted.
so since i once bricked a fon by trying to install custom rom, i would really like to know, what EU law you r talking about and what the 1st post is all about.

They cannot legally refuse to repair your phone hardware wise on the grounds the software is modified, however they are not obliged to unbrick your phone for free as that is a software issue that you caused yourself, the most you can do is fix it yourself or pay someone to unbrick it for you

Just be aware that the warranty is void if you send the phone with the bootloader unlocked. Unlocking the bootloader doesn't void the warranty, because you can simply relock it, and nobody notices that it was unlocked.
Just read all you have to read and you won't brick anything
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/wip-axon-7-root-bootloader-unlokced-t3441204
there is a specific brick warning for the model i got, hope that proofs to "Choose an username..." i can and do read.
and just for the record, not only zte germany but also the seller "saturn" in germany told me otherwise. just to mention a few opinions from an online forum would not impress them. i was discussing german law with them already.
i am asking for the name of the specific eu-law, since post one is unspecific about it.

It proofs that you can't search and have no common sense, besides that you can't read. Let me enlighten you as of why:
-The guide that you linked to bricks A2017G's. That's no wonder. It's like going to a guide that says [A2017U only] and saying "But this will brick my G, therefore every guide bricks it"...
You didn't search for a guide that actually works. Since you can't search, I'll help you find a couple that work:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-install-twrp-unlock-bl-flash-t3517379
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-unlock-bootloader-easily-t3704595
And you can also use axon7toolkit which is stickied...
And about the warranty thing: Of course the sellers and ZTE will tell you that the warranty is void if you unlock the phone. That's basic. What you can do is relocking the bootloader, in which case they won't notice that it was ever unlocked.
Or, if you DFU brick your phone, there will be no way of confirming that the bootloader had been unlocked. You can just say that it just got like that after a fall or that you woke up and found the phone like that. Then ZTE will change your motherboard for free.
And if you have a hardware problem (for example the screen breaks), they cannot refuse to fix it by saying that the bootloader is unlocked. They will try to, but of course you can tell them about the law and how they can't do that.
thanx for the enlightening advice. maybe we both have a problem reading properly.
i have not asked for help with rooting, i was asking for the correct name of the so called eu law user Flaîm mentioned in post#2.

thanx for the link, i will look deeper into it. its from 1999, but that shurely has not arrived in germany yet. I was going to post a part of an email conversation i had with ZTE Support Germany. freely translated: "rooting affects hardware directly and thereforewill extinguish warranty."
but it does not work (clicking my links do nothing). tried picload.org and de.imgbb.com in FF and chrome.

Just think about this: Let's use Motorola for the example.
Motorola lets you unlock the bootloader officially. You have to get a code from your phone and send it to Motorola, and they will send you another code. Then you have to input the code in fastboot and the bootloader gets unlocked.
What does this do? They get an ID of your phone, therefore they know that your device has been unlocked. If you send it in for warranty repairs, they will look at your phone's ID, run it through their database, and bam, no more warranty for you.
Now ZTE: ZTE didn't give two craps about unlock, they mostly just let Fastboot unlock your phone with 'fastboot oem unlock' which is extremely nice. So, you can just go to fastboot and do that, and voila, your phone is unlocked. Need to send it in for repairs? You wipe everything from it, restore the stock system and recovery, then lock it with 'fastboot oem lock'. I believe there may be some trace that it was unlocked, but they won't look for it. They usually look for the 5 seconds screen, which tells you if you have the bootloader unlocked or not (Though you CAN get rid of it without locking, and I know about one or two people who managed to claim warranty with this trick). One person told us that he went to an EU ZTE store with his unlocked phone (with the 5 seconds screen) to claim warranty for something, and the store guy asked HIM what that screen was about... He told him that it was because of unlocked bootloader and the guy just repaired it free of charge.
One other thing: Could you ask ZTE germany about this? Like, ask them if unlocking voids your warranty even though the law says not necessarily. Make that last part really clear. I'd like to see how they respond
i asked them how they handle unlocking bootloaders and will post the answer here.

the answer from ZTE is the same textblock extendet with "or unlocked bootloader". warranty will be void.
how does this help me or you?

It doesn't help me because I bought the phone on the other side of the world where I live (phones are 3 times more expensive here). But what I said before still stands for you. If you DFU-brick it, say that an OFFICIAL UPDATE went wrong, and the phone froze and rebooted and it was like that. If the screen breaks, don't worry, just send it in and they will replace it; if they find out that the bootloader was unlocked, just claim that because of EU law the screen obviously didn't break because of the unlocked bootloader, all fine. And lastly since you may have an A2017G, you can follow raystef66's guide on how to get rid of the 5 seconds screen, in which case they would have no evidence that the bootloader is unlocked.

P30 Pro India EMUI 10

So, its been more than a month EU devices were released with EMUI 10, in India However the situation is different. 1st of all I tried to flash EU firmware and my device got locked out saying "your device has flashed incorrect firmware" after that I have been to huawei service about 10 times and after a month, I got the device in working condition with replaced firmware. A quick question though, despite being such good phone, they are spoiling it with localization. Is there any way I can rebrand my phone from C675 to C431? It seems this is the only way. Looking forward to replies from experts. I would like to add that Huawei service have no clue when EMUI 10 will be hitting the devices in India, that's a sad state of affairs here in India.

Hi, I got it from Huawei Center in Pune, they flashed 9.1.0.118 and asked me to stay on that version for 1 month, I ignored their instruction and flashed 9.1.0.194 via the e-recovery. But then that's about it.

Downgrade is not possible, even if you downgrade it won't let the phone boot up. I am sure I am on different board.

Hey Guys, I am having similar issues.. the last update I had was 9.1.0.194 via e-recovery a couple of days ago. I had logged a ticket with Huawei support about a month ago and was constantly following up. I just got a call from one of their engineers a few min ago. He mentioned that you need to be on 9.1.0.242 before the phone updates to Android Q (Version 10.x.x.x). He advised me to check on eRecovery again.
I just checked and 9.1.0.242 (around 4.2 GB) is now available on eRecovery and is currently downloading on my phone. Will post an update after it finishes installing and if I see the update to Android Q after that..
Fingers crossed and Cheers !
As an update, no more updates after 9.1.0.242 : /
Tried System update, HiCare, HiSuite and eRecovery.
eRecovery just downloads 9.1.0.242 again..
Will post here if I get an update..
What I have observed is when I use mobile data it shows emui 10 update available. But when im on wifi which is different ISP it says emui 9 is the latest.
