[APP] [Note FE] [2020/22/06] Boot Logo Changer [PIE Update] Error fixed! - Samsung Galaxy Note FE Themes, Apps, and Mods

Boot Logo Changer - Works for PIE and OREO - No mods needed to my original post
Change the boot image (NOT the bootanimation) that shows BEFORE the boot animation.
22 June 2020: Version 2
Found tar app to be corrupted. Changed tar app and minor mod to install script.
/* Disclaimer */
Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this zip file
before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. Hard. A lot.
This has only been tested on the Note FE (SM-N935/DS).
If in doubt, check to see if your UP_PARAM partition is /dev/block/sda10.
There are programs on the Play Store that can show the partitions, there names and other info.
This app does make a backup of the original UP_PARAM partition and stores it on your /sdcard as UP_PARAM.bak.
Running this app multiple times will not overwrite the original UP_PARAM.bak
MAKE SURE YOUR SDCARD IS MOUNTED WHEN YOU GET INTO TWRP or CWM.
(Have NOT tested in CWM as I have TWRP installed).
Many thanks to @hanspampel from Android-Hilfe for the original script.
I originally used this for my Tab A 7.0.
To change the logo (.jpg file), replace the logo.jpg in the .zip file with your own .jpg file.
Remember the original Galaxy Note FE (SM-N935/DS) logo.jpg is 1073 x 1464.
DO NOT make the your logo.jpg file too big. I would keep the file size under 250K.
Samsung reduced the size of the logo.jpg file to fill a little over 1/2 the screen. You cannot display anything above the top line in the logo.jpg.
See how I changed my logo.jpg below.
/* Installation */
Steps to install:
- Reboot into recovery
- Select Install from recovery menu
- Select NoteFE-chng-logo.zip
- Follow recovery install prompts
- Reboot and enjoy!
If you need a restore script, use the attached NoteFE-chng-logo-restore.zip

First of all, please to not copy the entire "LONG" post when replying. Just a couple of lines will suffice.
Secondly, I am not a graphic artist. You would need to find someone versed in graphic design to replicate the Note FE 'Heart'.

Is there any way to change boot logo with adb commands without root privileges for Note FE (N935F)?

You do not need root. You DO need a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM. The installation takes place in recovery.

Check Post #1 for PIE update.

[OFFICIAL] Cyanogenmod 11.0 (Android 4.4) nightlies

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*
* Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
* cause of male impotence.
*/
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed.
This rom is for both the Nook Tablet 512M/8GB and 1GB/16GB versions. The device code name is "acclaim".
Prerequisites:
A CWM recovery. To install CWM when coming from a stock device, you need to prepare a special SD card. Installation instructions can be found here on xda.
Installation:
Grab a new recovery (e.g. here http://goo.im/devs/chrmhoffmann/cm-11.0/acclaim/recovery-20140502.img) and flash it with fastboot. You will need to update the recovery in case you have an older one from CM 10.2 or older.
If you have a recent CM 10.1 installed, flash the new recovery and try the updater, otherwise download the zip from nightlies, boot to CWM and flash it.
Once a version is installed, you can update with CM Updater
Settings->About tablet->CyanogenMod updates->Refresh
Building:
The CM wiki explains that here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_acclaim
Returning to stock BN firmware:
If you have installed above rom and the CWM recovery and you really hate it and want to go back to stock, you may wish to try to flash the original acclaim_update.zip from BN. You have to unzip that file and edit META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script. Drop the first two lines here:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "blaze" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "blaze");
Zip the package again. Then go to CWM, flash the zip, wipe, and reboot.
Support:
For any issues encountered, please post into this forum, but add steps to reproduce and dmesg and logcat information. If you don't know what this is or how to get them, try to find that out first before posting here.
Developers:
hashcode, ntemis, kuzma30, fattire, mik_os, chrmhoffmann, and many others that contribute to cyanogenmod and especially this version
Thanks:
kuzma30 - great kernel job
hashcode - we have reused lots of your work and effort for the various omap devices (esp kindle fire). It is thanks to you mainly that we are now official CM device.
mik_os - great touchscreen firmware flasher and other efforts
fattire - for helping us everywhere he can
ntemis - thanks for giving so much energy to this - esp for 4.4 I have copied lots of things from you
DISCLAIMER:
- update the CWM if you come from older versions - otherwise you'll see funny error messages when installing zip
- It is possible that you need to wipe your device. I did not do that, but...
- Also you must flash 4.4 gapps. It can be found somewhere....
- The SELINUX policies are not yet enforced.
Known issues:
- Wifi "works" but a clean fix has to be thought of...
- from time to time boot hangs/crashes. In that case, you need to reboot - I don't know how to fix that - seems that surfaceflinger randomly crashes on boot, but it was the case in older releases (cm-10.2), too.
Get it from http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=acclaim

edit: appears to have installed with no errors thru twrp 2.6.3.1 (as altboot on same sdcard)
thanks for the work !
I am getting constant android.process.media force closes. Only way to get around them was to delete MediaProvider.apk in /system/priv-app. Probably not OK to do this?

So far, this too is my biggest problem. I can't open Play to install any other apps. WiFi does work though, so hallelujah! I'll try deleting MediaProvider.apk when I get home just so I can install some other apps.

Yep, it works OK after that. If you want to change the wallpaper however, you can't do it using a longpress in the home screen, it must be done using settings->display->wallpapers. Even with that, I keep getting Google search force closes when I try to use the stock KitKat wallpapers.

Ok what I meant was, is there a zip to flash the new cwm to internal emmc??
In addition, MX Player says it is an incorrect android version, which might be related to MediaProvider being deleted.

You can install it from a terminal emulator, if you want to.
1. Download the cwm-recovery.img file referenced in the first post of the thread.
2. Copy this file to the internal memory of your Nook Tablet. Rename this file to cwm.img.
3. On your Nook Tablet, launch Android Terminal Emulator (ATE).
4. In ATE, type in 'su' [ENTER]. Grant it access when prompted.
5. In ATE, type in 'cd /emmc' [ENTER]. This will change your file system current directory to /emmc, which corresponds to the internal storage drive.
6. In ATE, type in 'ls' [ENTER]. This will list the contents of the /emmc directory. You should see the cwm.img file you copied over and renamed earlier (step 2).
7. In ATE, type in 'dd if=/emmc/cwm.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3' [ENTER]. This will write the contents of the cwm.img file to partition 3 of device mmcblk0 (internal memory).
You should now be able to reboot and use cwm. CAREFUL, as you could brick your device if you get step 7 wrong.
Nevermind my phone finally did the job
I see process.media crashes a lot. I'll see what I can dish out.
Well I have one solution..disable the Media Storage app in the App section of Settings. That should flush it away..

You can find a flashable cwm zip (e.g.,from Succulent's recovery repo http://goo.im/devs/succulent/acclaim/recovery), then use an archive file manager (e.g., 7-zip) to replace the copy of recovery.img inside that zip archive file with the new recovery version you want (remember to rename it to recovery.img first).

[GUIDE] Enable Bootanimation.zip support for Galaxy A Series

I. Introduction
Samsung Stock Roms use a special .qmg format for the bootanimation. This makes changing the bootanimation difficult because of less support.
Android uses a binary called bootanimation (/system/bin) to run the bootanimations, and Samsung has tweaked it to load .qmg formates. But we can tweak that binary to load the bootanimation.zip instead of bootanimation.qmg.
NOTE: You must be rooted with TWRP installed.
II. Installation guide
1] Download the proper zip according to your android version
2] Reboot your device to the recovery and install bootanimationzipsupport.zip
3] Install PACM Bootanimation.zip (This is just to test bootanimation)
4] Reboot your device
Now, once you reboot your smartphone, you will see the stock Android Bootanimation:good::fingers-crossed:
Did you get a softbrick?
The zip automatically creates a zip that allows to restore the previous bootanimation binary. Reboot to recovery and install the StockBootanimationRestorer.zip inside the /vr-theme folder in you sd card.
Tested Deiveces
Galaxy A5 2016
(Actually this will work for any device)

Yes, it should work. It will automatically create a backup of the original binary and place it in your SD Card in vrtheme folder so that you can restore it incase of any problem. Also as per my experience it will not cause a bootloop. Just a black screen will appear after bootlogo, and then it will boot.
To be in a safer side take a backup of /system.

[MOD] Pixel 2 Boot Animations - Huawei Ascend XT 2

Pixel 2 Boot Animations. (Huawei Ascend XT2) (H1711)Preview - White - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrXHzTr2TrM
Preview - Black - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR6wrGwHYvQ
These were originally posted in this thread by TECHNO_THUNDER (Please go over there and give him thanks!)
But the files over there will not flash correctly onto our Huawei XT2 because the bootanimation.zip file that we need to replace is located in a completely different location on our device.
I solved this issue by repacking and making a new flashable zip file that will flash the files to the right location. These boot animations look pretty awesome on our device so i thought I would share my zips with the community here.
This is my first time ever creating flashable zips so bear with me. I tested all of them multiple times just to be safe so you should have no problems.
Please back up your phone before installing mods. I cant be responsible if you brick your device
Instructions:
1. Place zip on your External SD.
2. Reboot to TWRP recovery.
3. Hit KEEP READ ONLY.
4. Go to INSTALL and SELECT STORAGE and then select Micro SD Card.
5. Find your zip file and select it. Then swipe to Flash.
6. Delete Cache and click reboot system. (Make sure to hit Do Not Install before the reboot)
Your phone will reboot and there might be some lag after the first boot but that should go away after the second reboot.
Download:
Pixel 2 Black Boot Animation 720p - Google Drive Mirror
Pixel 2 White Boot Animation 720p - Google Drive Mirror
And if you need to return to stock. Simply flash the zip below
Huawei Ascend XT 2 Stock Boot Animation - Google Drive Mirror
Alternatively you can extract the zip file and copy the bootanimation.zip inside into the /version/special_cust/H1711/att/us/media folder using any root file explorer and then reboot your phone.
Enjoy! :good:
