Hello all,
I tried to play a bit with AOSP and thank to phhusson experiments with Treble I managed to have an AOSP 9.0 Pie ROM for our Moto G6, of course this is a WIP, I still have a lot of stuff to work on but it's a good starting point!
Since I use my Moto G6 also for my work I can't backup/format/flash my device every day, would be very very nice if anyone would like to help me to buy a new one dedicated to the development.
The goal is 250CHF (see here: https://goo.gl/mWeKFz)
If you would like to contribute you can donate here: paypal.me/pools/c/88dRQdo7o5
BIG thanks!
What works:
RIL

What doesn't works / Not tested yet:

FM Radio
Fingerprint
Other?
Next steps:
Update to latest Android version
Add GApps
Add Browser
Add WebView
Update the kernel
Cleanup & optimize

I really appreciate the work you are doing here! :good:
What about SafetyNet? Does it pass or fail? It's kinda important to me.

Oh okay. Actually I don't have the device. I'll probably get it next week, and as an android enthusiast, I couldn't stand Lenovo pushing updates late to the Moto G6 so I got excited when a Custom kernel and now your GSI showed up... Thanks for your work again.

@secuflag
I was successfully able to root phh's AOSP GSI.
If this ROM is based on that, root might most likely work on this one as well.
I'm just waiting to be able to flash gapps, that's the only thing stopping me from moving to 9.0

I just tested root access, it works :good:

Anyone tested this with the moto g 6 play?

I have one more question. Is this a 32bit or 64bit firmware? I'm really interested in using the GCam port with this device.

you can flash Gapps just fine, back when treble roms didnt come with android go gapps baked in, you would have to boot the phone up once, reboot into recovery, install gapps from unencrypted sd card or internal memory if you're using the encryption disabler zip, and then wipe/reboot again.

G6 is not 64 bit compatible yet, there's a 64bit twrp out there and progress is being made, but nothing public yet.

But The Moto G6 runs on Snapdragon 450 which is a 64BIT SoC, so...? I thought maybe This GSI would be 64bit?

technically yes, but moto decided to compile everything in 32bit. 64 bit will come in time, but probably not for a few months.

I have used aosp extended the longest and found very few problems with it which is why I stuck with it. Battery is not too great but I'v been testing various kernels for the past month to figure out which is the best.
Aosp pixel experience is also good, but I do hear a lot of issues now about LTE and 3g switching problems...
Havoc os is also supposed to be very good, though I have not tried it, I have heard very good reviews about it, and that would be the next rom I try. If ur willing to test it I suggest u try that first (and let me know how it is), if u have problems u could always move to aex or any rom which is currently stable.
This ROM (Treskmod ) itself may be good, I can't comment because I haven't tried, but you can flash and see if it suits you!

Havoc supposedly has a good battery life, not sure if it has gcam.
AEX battery not as good as stock but it's not terrible either, and has gcam inbuilt.

Experiments with 9.0 build - G8342 Only

I built 9.0 a couple days ago just because science and all that stuff. Observations.
The version of AOSP I built is: android-9.0.0_r6 :: G8342 Only
I built a regular version then I built another version with opengapps micro package built-in.
What I've noticed so far: Dual SIMs issue just like my other 8.0 build, unfortunately again. Only 1 sim is available.
Don't forget your OEM file.
Software binaries for AOSP Oreo (Android 8.1) – Kernel 4.9 – Yoshino
Software binaries for AOSP Oreo (Android 8.1) – Kernel 4.4 – Yoshino
I can make phone calls with sim1 just fine. Camera works but @ 17MP, obviously AOSP builds so no green images(Open Devices).
I'll post some images now.

That is true. I remember flashing and booting all 3 OEM files, if it doesn't boot on your end just go back to fastboot and flash the other.
But as stated, be aware that it's all beta even though the device was actually usable. Maybe 9.0(Pie) is closer to final by now but there are bugs.

I am on MIUI 12 running Android 10, didn't unlock bootloader yet nor any custom recovery. I used to install custom roms back in 2012 when Xolo Q800 was launched. Is there an easy way to get up and running with this ROM here? (Really excited to use this)
I will appreciate if community can point me in the right direction which is easy for me to grasp (I know how recoveries work - but it's just that I am doing this after a gap of 8 long years)
Great rom at the first sight . Good work and face unlock is working i like it

MegaThread was super confusing. Honest feedback. Its making me more paranoid than confident.
I found this video on Youtube which says New Method and meant for people on Miui Android 10.
Can you please tell me what extra (or different) steps I need to take in order to get to this ROM here in this thread?
Very smooth, no issues so far. One thing though, in the "What's working" list, the OP listed FM Radio, but there is no FM Radio App in the ROM or am I missing something?
Anyway, thanks for a great ROM even though it's just an initial/early build.
@prateek.khurana31 I just followed the steps here as listed on the Megathread (CFW Migration Steps), using method 2. Went from stock Global ROM A10 to this in just a few minutes.

Nord N10 5G development

These is nothing in the https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/oneplus-nord-n10-5g-roms-kernels-recoveries-o.11811/ , so I guess there is no development being done at all. I was hoping for a usable lineage, but it needs a working TWRP.
Is there anything being worked on that could be posted there to give us some hope?

Mine is a secondary device, so at some point I will move it over. I think we will still need a TWRP, which may not happen because if the small size of owners.

They have a "recovery" but will it be useful in installing lineage, or will it have to be TWRP ?

I have no idea. I just found this. It would be nice if someone actually tried to run that recovery and ROM. I'm not doing it since there's not enough information and instructions provided. It's nice to see that there is someone working on it though.
It's LOS recovery and booting . It can be used to side load zips. But as soon as you mount /system the block verification is broken and OTAs won't work anymore. If you *really * want to try I can give more detailed information but I wouldnt recommend as it's completely untested

I'm currently working on A11, but I only uploaded A10 trees. I could share a PixelExperience A10 build. Its stable but has some small bugs like, DT2W doesnt work.
I booted A11 already, but its buggy af. @kakatkayakshar helped me.

I tried it too, this was before I found out nord and nord n10 are totally different. I would say looks like we are at the mercy of our benefactor Billaids. I have pixel experience on my one plus 6. I've booted the pe recovery on my n10 but afraid to go further in case wanting to return to stock or try los. I've used msm tool but aways holding my breath doing so.
Hi guy i can't enable developer options in my oneplus n10 5g t-mobile I tap build options and nothing happens any idea Thanks..

Can you point to the C.23 firmware that is a requirement for this ROM?
I don't see that in the list of available firmware for N200.

Are you gonna make more updates to the core version or are you gonna focus on the gapps version now? And what’s the difference because I have the core version but there’s still gapps that can be turned off is it the same way with the gapps version? Also can I just upgrade to the gapps version?
can you use the same method as lineage upgrade os method to sideload this from los 19.1?

No lineage 19.1 is based on Android 11 stock firmware. You have to upgrade your stock firmware to Android 12 before flashing this build.

GAPPS version is the only one I'm supporting now (it just has a few extra apps installed).
The "Core" version was using flags for minimal GAPPS functionality. Builds without GAPPS would have been labeled "Vanilla" if I would have made it. I figure there's no point in supporting GAPPS and gappsless builds when GAPPS is easily disabled within the ROM.

I'm running these builds TMO C.21 firmware. C.23 specifically is not required, though that is what the vendor blobs are based on.

Also, could you test to see if you have the same issue with LineageOS 20 or Pixel experience? Both of those are based on the same firmware.
I occasionally encounter this issue in recovery but haven't had it happen in the ROM

Glad to hear you got it working
If anyone is prepared to do the legwork I have a firmware flashable zip with instal scritps from my op 7 pro which could be modified to flash the appropriate firmware to a n200...replace all the partition images, change the device checks etc. I'm not going to straight out attach it because I don't want anyone trying to patch an op 7 pro firmware file on their n200.
