Redmi 6A disable quick settings panel - Xiaomi Redmi 6A Questions & Answers

I recently bought a Redmi 6A for my (aging) parent, and somehow (inadvertently) he keeps toggling settings from the quick settings panel, what is a major annoyance, because more often than not, he disables data or wifi, what leaves him uncommunicated until I go to fix it. I have been tinkering with the settings and found no way of disabling the fu*kn panel, the only thing I can do is rearrange the tiles... any help or hint will be appreciated.

Double tap screen

Does the v30 still come with LGs double tap to wake and lock/screen off that I currently have on my g4? Thank.

Yes. Double tap on and off from the home screen.
Awesome, thanks for the quick response. I hate using the power button, this or a finger print sensor like my Moto g5 eliminates the issue.
I wonder if LG and Google gave the same double tap on/off to the pixel 2xl? The pixel 2 didn't have it, but the XL is a LG. However, it's Google software. Probably a Longshot there. [emoji2]

When I double tap to try and turn off the screen I get a message saying the app is not installed and then I am redirected to the play store to a screen off and lock app. I am using Nova launcher- wondering if that is causing this issue?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
With Nova you need to double tap the status bar to turn off the screen.
It doesn't work on other parts of the screen as it does with stock LG launcher.

The LG launcher is required for double tap anywhere to work. However Nova does support an accessibility option to do it as well. You can set it using gestures, and then select the Screen Timeout option. The screen will go black for 5-10 seconds, and then you will see the AOD, indicating the phone is locked.

How to customize vibration by notification type? (e.g. short for email, long for SMS)

Hi folks, just got a G5 H830 (coming from an HTC 10 due to battery problems). I'm rooted but still running most recent stock LG/T-Mo software (20N).
The problem: I can't find a way to change the vibration notification pattern per app / per notification type. I assumed this was a standard thing across the Android world, but I'm only seeing the option to choose ONE vibration pattern, and customize intensity. The Gmail app vibrates the same way as my SMS app does, which drives me nuts!
How can I fix this? Do I need to install a custom kernel, and/or custom ROM?

No search the play store, there's probably an app for that
Cool, when I searched on mobile all I found was "vibrator" apps and stuff for wearables, but searched on desktop and found: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wbouvy.vibrationcontrol Seems like it'll do the job, it needs pretty questionable permissions to work though. Can't believe this is necessary, apparently even the Galaxy S8 omits this feature (?!)
If anyone running a custom ROM on their G5 sees this thread, I'd love to hear if the ROM you are using has this as a standard feature.

DT2W/S on Pocophone

Hello there,
I recently purchased a Xioami Pocophone F1 after using LG for the past 4 years.
I am so used to double tap to unlock and lock my screen that I find myself constantly doing the same on the Poco.
Is there a way to enable that feature on the Phcophone?
How come LG is the only company that has that feature enabled by default? Is it something on their hardware or is it a part of Android in general?
I find it to be a great feature and personally, I don't like phones with buttons, especially on the right side of the screen.
Thank you,
It´s standard in MIUI 10. You can find this option under Settings -- Display.
If you are on MIUI 9, wait a few days. Xiaomi is rolling out the MIUI 10 stable in waves.

Finally! A contender to LG.
Thank you for letting me know.
I'm on MIUI 9.6.14, and you can enable double tap screen to wake under Settings > Display.

Settings > Additional Settings > Button and Gesture Shortcuts.
I prefer installing nova launcher and use double tap to lock screen.
to turn off the screen I use the following apps:
for dt2s on home screen - DTS Widget
for using the fingerprint scanner - fingerprint quick action
for status bar - all in one gestures (no longer available in play store, google apk)

Messaging app (SMS)

Has anyone else have a bug with the default messaging app? Im on global 11.0.10 and using gestures finding the back gesture doesn't work when you're in a message thread and swiping to go back to main messaging screen. You need to use the arrow navigation button in the top left of the screen. Once in the main screen, you can swipe back to return to the homescreen OK.
Nothing major but just wondering if anyone else had noticed.

Same
Also just noticed the Battery and Performance section of the settings app has changed too. I had a system app update to the Security app so guessing it was part of that. Strange of xiaomi to make changes to it as its totally different again in MIUI 12 which is supposedly landing soon.

a few questions

hi all, i have a realme 7 pro and i want to disable the google screen to the left, cant seem to find the setting anywhere.
id also like to enable keypad sounds and change the volume of it? right now its super loud.
when i cloned my old phone to my new one (realme 7 pro) i chose to not bring any apps over but it decided to install some google apps, such as google photos and file manager, so now i have 2 of each and its confusing, how do i remove the google apps and keep the realme ui apps? when i go into the app settings the disable button is greyed out.
last but not least is there a way to use a stock android launcher? im not a big fan of the realme ui.
Cheers!
