Oppo finally release the bl unlock, but limitation like idots - Oppo Find X Guides, News, & Discussion

Ok, it finally comes, if you want it, search for wuxianlin's website.
There are lots of limitation and the most important one: no beta user can unlock. It is like idiot as for 5.2.1 update, beta users were ****ed once and this is the twice now. What is the purpose of beta if it always gets new feature late!!!!!!!!???????
Never join any Chinese beta program, this is what I learned.

Requirements besides the official room is:
Logged on by using your oppo id on your phone for at least 60 days.
And only limited number of application will be accepted.

Yes, and if you switch back from beta to public, your 60 will be vacated. So does switch from public to beta....

Disgusting treatment of EU Axon 7 users

Hi,
Some really bad news for anyone that's been unfortunate enough to purchase an A7 EU version.
I have contacted ZTEUK on FB messenger directly to ask about the Nougat update and this is their exact response.
"Hi Mike, Please keep an eye out on our social channels for any information regarding updates. We do not currently have plans to update to Nougat though this may change. Thanks, the ZTE UK team."
Taking into account the amount of EU phones out there this is beyond dreadful in terms of treatment, the question is, where do we go from here? I didn't want to bother rooting the phone, but is there any option left now it's possibly not getting the update at all?
No daydream, no patch fixes, no volume fix, the list goes on!!
How do we pressure ZTE into dealing with this, failing that what other options do we have?
Mike
Haha I doubt it, these customer reps have no idea.
There has been an extensive Nougat test going on as well as confirmations on twitter etc.
G Version will get Nougat.

I hope so, that brings some comfort, really the reps should not give throw away replies like that.
Thanks :good:
Don't worry, it just furthers the idea that global organization of ZTE is totally lacking, especially for their EU customers (far behind their american ones). Nougat was announced first by ZTE Germany back in November (originally planned for end of january) and is currently undergoing beta testing as far as I know. The thing is, ZTE Germany is apparently taking care of the dev for the G version but they officially supports only german customers, even if they kinda tried to create an "european" community. Other european branches (it's the case for ZTE france at least) of ZTE seem to be only PR posting advertisement on facebook/twitter. IMO, your rep just copy pasted the basic stonewalling response to this question and has either no information whatsoever or wanted to answer politely without getting carried away.
(If anyone has more info, feel free to correct me)
G Variant will sure get the Nougat Update soon, ZTE UK should know this too dont know why you got this answer from them. But if you G Variant user, follow ZTE Mobile Deutschland on Facebook
Coming from US nougat. There's still bugs, battery drain, etc. Issues that are in the release. I'd rather be back in MM honestly. A stable and complete release would've been better instead of releasing early due to demand. Just look up the issue with whatsapp. Millions of users and they didn't notice such a glaring bug.
I can say without a doubt in my mind that the Axon 2017G will also get Nougat. They are usually a little behind the US team with releases so I imagine it will probably be sometime in March
I wouldn't be surprised if you could just flash the bootstack and modem from LineageOS thread and flash A2017U system on top. I'm totally satisfied with LineageOS, so I'm not even thinking on doing that now or in the future.
The G Variant needs more time than us because they want to fix all founded bugs and increase the quality. like musicdjm said, it will release end feb. or beginning of march. zte could Release it in the end of January but there were too many bug, because of that they started a beta test phase and postponed the Release date

I have the US ZTE Axon 7 (A2017U) and updated to Nougat. What is the WhatsApp bug again? I haven't noticed anything but you can tell me and I will cry in a corner once I know. :crying:
@op When everything else fails, go to change.org and create a petition. The ASUS Zenfone 2 users did that and they are apparently getting the Nougat update in July.

The Axon7 G Variant will directly get 7.1.1

FunkyHuawei firmwares are kinda strange !!!

you see when i updates my phones firmware via OTA method after i turned on the phone 1st time the update included full change log and fixes
then i see FH got a newer FW ( B126 for mate10pro) so i installed that then i look into the system update and there's no change log at all , going back to mate 9 pro which i was updating using FH i remember looking at new FWs in FH reddit page but i couldn't get those updates OTA even a month after he put them up
can he disable OTA updates so people are forced to use his method again and again ?? it costs money to use those FWs

OTA updates are not disabled -- they couldn't be. As long as you change your DNS back to something other than our server, the request will go to Huawei's server for an OTA. Huawei can be very slow rolling out OTAs or not roll them out to your phone. It's Huawei's fault, nothing to do with FH.

Yes. If you keep FunkyHuawei DNS settings, the update requests will be routed to FunkyHuawei's servers, so that you can install updates selected on FunkyHuawei. Consequently, of course your update requests won't go to Huawei's server.
When you are not using the service, you should restore your original DNS settings.

FH gets new firmwares before Huawei rolls them out. Until Huawei rolls them out by OTA, they don't release a changelog -- instead they come with a dummy changelog. Old firmwares which are already rolling out will include changelogs in most cases.

It's your choice whether you wait to install something or not -- Even the changelogs released by Huawei are never very specific about what bugs they fix, what security update is included, etc. It is one of many of the problems with Huawei's rollout procedures.
Waiting until there is a change log to release a firmware would make no sense -- one of the advantages FunkyHuawei offers its customers is earliest access to new firmware versions, before they roll out to the public. If you prefer to have a changelog before you install something, just wait until there is a changelog, or until Huawei rolls it out to your phone.

I think you're missing the point of FH. If you buy a Chinese mate for example and rebrand to UK firmware the only way to get updates is by forcing it via FH or similar due to authorised IMEI issues.
Using FH you get the firmwares alot earlier (sometimes months) before Huawei roll them out officially, it's your choice if you use them or not.

1. Huawei builds a firmware.
2. Huawei rolls it out.
The is a lot of time between 1 and 2. Does this make sense?
Huawei makes the firmware, but before they roll it out, FH is able to offer infrastructure to install it.

Thats logical, but who provide you these firmwares? Is it huawei? Do you pay them for these builds? Or they pay you for providing infrastructure? Btw what kind of infrastructure you are providing to huawei? Are they immature to test their builds before releasing to public and availing your services???

...You're misunderstanding. FH provides services to the public, not to Huawei.
Huawei is very slow about rolling out updates, especially when people use phones in regions they're not sold in, or when updates are new.
FH gives its customers the ability to install the updates.
How it works internally is something that can't be made public.

Not entirely true! You pay FH for their rebranding services, but nobody force you to pay them for a new firmware, you can either wait for Huawei to push the OTA to your device or use Firmware Finder (free) when the firmware is available for your brand.

OTAs are free of charge, nobody ask money from you, so what we are talking about here!?No third party development is another matter, but Huawei never advertised that, as Oneplus, so before buying just have a look on XDA it's easy to understand that Huawei devices are not Nexus/Pixel.
Oh geez,
Just by reading few comments in this thread already make me sad about what happen in xda nowaday,
People simply assume, without even search for more information or try to learn about devices/brand they are using first.

Unfortunately people get used to updates with other manufacturers, but then you read on XDA that if you want the latest update with Huawei , you probably need to pay a third party to get that update. I have a C782, and have been watching as other models have received multiple updates, while my model hasn't had one.
To get round this I would have to pay Funky Huawei to rebrand so I can stay upto date. I may do this at some point, especially if someone brings out a free method.
Its not bothering me yet, as I only appear to have a few bugs with 115, but it would be nice to receive updates. My first Huawei, and I love the phone.

Hello there, I'm wondering why wouldn't you consider downloading the latest firmware for C782 using Firmware Finder app (using the in-app proxy) method so that you can force an OTA update for your phone? This way there's no need to re-brand or wait for OTA. I'm on BLA-L29 .119 (C636) and there's .126 available (listed on Firmware Finder) so i'm considering this option. However, I am holding out to see when the OTA comes to my phone (I have the Asia version and using it in Asia). You thoughts? Glad you like the phone - I do too, coming from an S7 Edge.

Unfortunately there is no update for C782 on Firmware Finder, so I would need to rebrand first. There is a way of doing it for free but you need to unlock the bootloader first. I've tried downloading a full C432 update, as someone said it changed their device, but no such luck I'm afraid.

how's software support

How's software support from manufacturer? Will we be getting regular security patches OTA?
Will it be supported for at least 2 years?
Anybody owned an Oppo phone knows about their history with updates?
Also, is their OS smooth and battery efficient or just horrible?
Thanks for reading
I had the oppo find 7. The phone was very good in his time but the software was very buggy. Os updates were very bad and it tOok a very long time to see an update. At the end, oppo closed his website and community forums leaving europe. Fortunately, there was xda devs supporting the device like omnirom etc...
I like the oppo find x but i m very septical about the support and more about the camera mechanism durability. An other thing, viewing the camera mechanism, i douubt the phone have an ip certification.
Ps: i think oppo will leave the europe maket one more time because of their prices. They are not known in france for example and a basic configuration at 999€, peoples will prefer to buy an iphone or a samsung. Maybe a huawei or a xiaomi wich are more famous than oppo here.

I agree with you, you forgot The Lamborghini version At 1699 €. Huawei and recently Xiaomi are already well known and sold in France, paradoxically Oneplus too but not Oppo
I doubt Oppo will break into the European market. big company in Asia certainly but almost unknown in Europe and bad memories of their rotating camera on N1 and N3....
I'm from germany and i think nearly nobody here or in france/spain/italy/netherlands will ever buy this phone at a pricetag of 999€. Nobody knows Oppo so you can impress nobody with your "Noname Phone". If you want to spend that much money you simply buy an iPhone or a S9+.
The Huawei P20 Pro is only selling good at that high pricetag because of the telekom, o2 and vodafone with a contract. So you have to pay 1-300€ to get the device. An Oppo without contract is nearly impossible to sell.
Thanks guys for your replies.
ColorOS in Oppo Find 7 days were always a year behind. For instance, Android was at version 4.4 Kitkat and yet Find 7 was released with 4.3 Jelly Bean. It's true that Oppo had continued to support it for 3 years, but remember at that third year, Android was at 6.0.1 Marshmallow and yet Find 7's latest final release was Project Something OS which is 5.1 Lollipop.
For people that doesn't necessarily understand how to root, TWRP, or flash custom ROMs, something will go wrong during this process because none of those updates are OTA nor recommended by service centers.
Should something ever go wrong, Oppo official service centers will give you its original 4.3 Jellybean that does not even support unified partition of any kind.
Until this day, June 2018, people still asks me: "What kind a phone is that? The camera is amazing."
The camera is still amazing even for 2018. Unfortunately, Oppo is very bad at releasing software updates. For that department, Oneplus is the better sister company but its camera & audio is not as good as Oppo's.
I was told that if you want good audio, VIVO seems to be the better sister company but I haven't paid much attention to its camera & software update support. I hope this helps.
Anyone having an Oppo contact address? Marketing, developement section maybe. It looks like the support is bot driven. Asked them to forward my mail to the dev section, but well, lol.
To be honest Find 7 support was bad but also typical when considering it's contemporaries. At its introduction there was no monthly security update even for Nexus devices, it didn't exist. A whole bunch of OEMs were going to make you wait quite some time for updates and there would not be many. If they offer support similar to their contemporaries today as they did then it's going to be much better than it was for the Find 7.
Let's face it though; we're all going to have camera lift failure before the phone gets too antiquated.

How will the chinese version fare in Sweden/EU? I don't think localization will be an issue after setting it up, just wondering if there will be issues with 3G/4G etc.
I was looking for freqs but didn't see anything, have I missed it? I'd beware the Chinese model, those can be trouble with the play store everywhere else. That is usually overcome by development but there isn't any way to know how much development this thing will see just yet. I'd certainly wait till I knew what it's play status was and the freqs... Haven't seen anything concrete on bootloader locks if any just yet either when I think about it. You're going to need that to get where you want to go.

Twitter is the best way
I have the Oppo Find 7; bought it in 2014. If I had to use one word to describe the official software support, its 'frustrating'. The software on the phone was always 2 versions behind the latest one every year. It was released with Jelly bean 4.3 and around that time 5.0 was just around the corner. It took them 2-2.5 years to release an Android 5.1 ROM. Every major update from Oppo required the users to factory reset the device and it was very difficult for a layman to perform these flashes every time a new ROM was released. All the official ROMs released were beta - Color OS 2.1 Beta, Spectrum 1.1 Beta etc. Usually you'll find tons of custom ROMs from third party developers from China devs but flashing them on the international version of the phone bricked the device. All of the oppo community was very active in reporting bugs and flashing ROMs, but the official supporters soon closed the community website and all other oppo forums as they couldn't keep up with the updates and bug fixes. Officially the Find 7 got 7 ColorOS ROMS (2.0.0, 2.0.4, 2.0.5, 2.0.7, 2.0.8, 2.1.0, 2.1.5 from 4.4 to 5.1) and all were Beta releases. All of them had at least one or more major bugs. ColorOS isn't user friendly and takes a lot of time to get used to, its a very bad attempt to copy iOS on iPhones. The only good part of the OS might be the camera.
I went to omni and never looked back; had no problems at all. You do bring up a good point though; a person should be prepared and willing to stay on the release software for some time. I myself will want to know who is going to be developing, or if there will be any at all. I'm fine with Oreo but I'm going to need an unlocked bootloader/magisk. As to their launcher, yeah, it's junk. Easily fixed at the play store however; I know I'll have my beloved Action Launcher on there in about 5 minutes. Assuming I buy of course, a lot of questions to be answered first.

completly agreed
So basically unless we get custom roms for this phone - stay away.
I wouldn't go that far, if the bootloader is unlocked and you're good hanging on the delivered firmware it might still be a go. I would be as long as it's possible to enable double tap to wake, I hate having to swipe. The software itself was not that bad with the find 7, it was the craptacular launcher that hurt the stock experience.
All that said if a good developer picks one up and starts development that would make a buy decision easier to make.

I've had a few Oppo phones, and like others have said here, the biggest problem is software update speed. Their issue is that they use ColorOS, which is a heavy skin on the phone. They tapered it back some recently, but it still ends up making them delay updates because they have to do so much on their end.
The phones are always solid, high-quality phones. They just care too much about how the phone looks, rather than how current it is.
I have a NEX from China, and it was pretty simple to add Google services working flawlessly.
I assume same will be for FIND X which i have pre-ordered already should get it by 18th July.

Nope, not yet - S9+ user here. I also following everywhere for news about the beta program, ofc I won't get it first but I want to be informed. I think it will start soon. Maybe even this month?
Verizon usually doesn't let people on their network sign up for the betas in my experience. I was going to sign up last year but it wasn't an option for my S9+ on VZW. You can load the beta builds with odin though if someone posts the firmware online. I will probably skip the first couple of builds and flash when they get most of the bugs squashed later in the beta cycle.

What a surprise ?
Beta is live! Can someone share the update.zip?
Just registered in Germany, waiting for the updated
Edit: just got the update with the November patch but no One UI 2 yet
Edit Edit: Just finished the update, even if it wasn't mentioned in the changelog I'm now on Android 10 and One UI 2.0
SafetyNet Test Error after update
I can use the German update.zip?
The bubble of Tap to Translate of Google Translate is always active even when I didn't copy any text, very annoying, I turned the feature off

Open Samsung Members, scroll a bit down and there should be a section named "News and Tips", click on the Image talking about Android 10, it will bring you to a page where you can enroll in the beta program. Wait a while and check for updates.
Ps: of course you need to be on a German operator to do that
Are there still any free slots for the German based users? I don't get to find the Android 10 News in the Members App.

I've registered few hours ago, so I think yes, also for me the news was not appearing yesterday. Try to force close and reopen Samsung Members (more than once maybe )

Thanks! Short question about that. Do you remember or even know if the post was either on the upper side (like a newer post) or on the lower side (older post)? Anyways, the actual name of the News would be nice. Maybe we can search for it.

Question Should i buy the phone? Will there be any custom roms in the future?

Hi, i was planning to buy the phone. My poor OnePlus 3T is dying and i thought the GT 2 Pro could be a good replacement. The only thing that is stopping me is the locked bootloader. I searched a bit and i read about the Depth Test app and such. Is there a way to unlock the Global Version bootloader? And there will be any development for the phone? I never had a Realme phone, what do you think about it? Did other realme phones had any community developments?
I wouldn't count on it. Only chinese firmware can be unlocked. Therefore, a significant community is not to be expected.
Edit: Happily, I have to correct myself. It's a moderate miracle.
Why would a locked bootloader stop you from this purchase? For the Chinese version I have uninstalled or suspended unwanted or Chinese language apps using ADB/ADB shell.

I try to keep a phone as much as possible, my nexus 5 survived 5 years and my OnePlus 3T is almost at its 6th birthday. If it wasn't for the community i couldn't have used it for this much time. And then i also want to have as much control as i can on what i own, if i can root the phone i can put an adblocker, i can uninstall everything i want and put all the patches i want.
that;s my concern on this phone. samsung promise a four system support and xiaomi ,oneplus do have big community to have custom rom even after they stop providing updates.(xiaomi usually provide 2 years of update)
from my opinion , if a phone can have 4 year official update is a must.
else we better go with iphone, it can confirm have at least 4 big system update , i don't think other than pixel or samsung will have this kind of long support.
Thanks god I read this
Today you can not even trust OnePlus with updates, a Realme is a no go with.locked bootloader.
Why wouldn't you just buy the global version and not even worry about bootloader's? I regret buying the China variant. biggest gripe was Google pay not working and even tho I got Google pay to work without unlocking or flashing anything there was just too much lacking with the China phone.
now that I have the global ROM flashed it's just gotten worse... Yeah I got my Google assistant to respond but now I can't play call of duty and use a bunch of other apps.
I don't think that would be that case if I would have just waited a month longer and got the global version instead.
If you worried about support and future updates, like others have said you should only expect the 4 promised, if that.
Tbh I'm looking to sell mine and dish out the extra for the Samsung.
If you do buy the phone.. do not but the China variant. Save yourself the headache
I would not get the chinese version but also not the global version with "forever locked bootloader"
Most of the chinese brands "forget" their phones after 1y, see OnePlus 9. Even cheap 3y old 200€ Samsung devices get faster updates than last year flagship...
I'm also planning to buy this phone but, no custom rom and development is my major concern.
I think I'll buy something else.

True, but then again Samsung has tons more cash to spend on software development.
In my opinion don't buy it, i bought it thinking i could unlock it ... Well i would have not done. I had nexus 5 and op3 in last years, i think as you about smartphones

How does it work? You can use it even with a locked bootloader and no custom recovery?
Maybe I am confused but I own the GT 2 Pro global version and right there in developer options is "OEM Unlocking: allow bootloader to be unlocked." Does this not work and if so why is it even there?

That's a bit of a bummer. Paid more for the global version just to find out people are having success flashing the global ROM onto the much cheaper CN variants. Then there is even a guide to flash the CN ROM over the global ROM but Im guessing that is just for flashing back to CN ROM on an original CN phone that was previously flashed with global? Meaning we can't just take an RMX3301 and flash CN ROM to it then unlock bootloader from there?

All we can do is email RealMe and keep requesting global bootloader unlocking.
This never happen before so just forget it :/
I think if enough people bombard RealMe with these types of request they might reconsider.
