So I found out that Tmobile US cannot connect to data and now cannot unlock bootloade - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Questions & Answers

So I recently found out that I needed to get a sim card and connect to mobile data in order to unlock my pad 4 plus and so I thought I could use Tmo's 4g/3g network, went to the store in order to get a nano sim card because my old tablet used a micro sim, then I found out later that there's not even a 3g band for tmo that can connect to the tablet. I could just be dumb to buy the tablet from China but in reality I was going to use to on WIFI only and 4g would be a plus. But since Xiaomi doesn't allow for Mi Unlock Tool to be used on WIFI, I can't even unlock the bootloader, I have a useless sim card and mobile line, and am looking for another way just to unlock this device.
It's disappointing to know that I can't even unlock the device on WIFI.
Please, I would greatly appreciate it if someone can find a solution to unlock the device via Wifi

I'd like to know too. I figured lte meant it could take tmobile, but I'm a bit disappointed. Any work around to get it working for tmobile?

a quick check here: https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-wi-fi shows that it should support at least B5 on the T-Mobile network. But we don't know the band coverage over the country, so you might simply be living in an area without any usable bands.
Looking at this list, we can see that Sprint apparently has 2 supported bands (B5 and B41) so maybe you can try a Sprint SIM? Maybe someone you know has sprint and can borrow you their card? Or maybe Sprint offers a cheap prepaid plan you can use temporarily?

[Q] Unlocked Aria Getting Error with T-Mobile SIM.

I recently decided I loved my Aria so much I was going to purchase the unlock code so I could use it on a prepaid service (I no longer use at&t).
I am ROOTed, and am running the Liberty Sense 2.2.2 ROM.
After I inserted my T-mobile pre-paid SIM and got the message "enter SIM unlock code" I did as instructed. It said it was accepted and My phone booted without that annoying please insert sim message. Yay right? Nope it can't connect to the mobile network. After doing a little googling and hunting around I found that the phone has to be compatible with the GSM frequency that the company your planning on using has.
Well this is what my device supports:
HSPA/WCDMA:
900/2100MHz
Up to 2 Mbps upload and 7.2 Mbps download speeds
GSM:
850/900/1800/1900MHz
(Band frequency, HSPA availability, and data speed are operator dependent.)
Which is apparently compatible with T-mobile. Well whenever I try and connect it says it fails and gives me and error message:
"SIM card not provisioned MM2"
After doing some google searches on that I found that it may mean you need to replace your sim etc. I've tried 2 different T-mobile SIMS and they both failed. Yet they both work in the T-mobile phones.
If anyone knows a work around to get me past this crap I would GREATLY appreciate it. It's been turned into an all day project and I'm nearing a tired and disappointing end.
Also info that may help:
-Neither of the SIMS currently have minutes on them but are both still activated under the owners names and display signals on the T-mobile devices.
- My HTC aria IS unlocked and IS rooted/loaded with a custom rom
-I can locate the 2 networks available in my region when I click on search for networks in my "wireless/network settings"
If you need anymore info to help answer the question please let me know and I will provide it as soon as I am able.
The phone is fine. It may be because you don't have minutes on the plan, or because the SIM card is too old or something. I'd suggest going into a T-Mobile store and getting it squared away.
Yes after several hours of hunting I was able to find someone who had the same problem. Apparently whether the SIM gets signal or not from the device it came from it will give you an error on the device you put it in until the SIM has actual minutes on it. The guy had said on his post he tried around 3 different cards and all had the same effect.
Sorry for the double post just wanted to update.
The reason I wasn't able to get signal on the phone was because the T-mobile sim card I was using was an un-paid Flex Pay SIM card with T-mobile. The actual prepaid SIM (which im using now) gets a signal even when there aren't minutes on the device so you can add funds to your account through the mobile phone.

will data work without a broadband plan?

i have an unlimited prepay t mobile data plan i use to mess with various gsm htc phones. i picked meself up a t mobile 3g flyer, fired it up,and while it looks like 3g and 4g are working, little arrows and all, data is not really working.
ive tried adding a different APN,and flashed leedroids HC with phone enabled rom in efforts to get it working.
im assuming that t mobile somehow knows i have a phone data plan, and as such is not letting the data work correctly.
i can make phone calls and send sms just fine. but no data.
question is simply, anyone know of a way to make this work??
thanks for any info
Did you get it from T-Mobile or is it an unlocked international unit? If you got it from T-Mobile, you may have to get the MSL to unlock the system first.
I do the exact same thing with an international unit and a T-mobile prepaid SIM card and my data work great. I'm on the $3/day of usage plan, as I normally have either wifi access or my phone has a 4g connection and I can tether the 2 via wifi.
thanks for the reply. any idea how to get the flyer into diag mode? i found !!3424! on the calculator works for the view, but its not working on the flyer
it is a t mobile branded device,so if i can figure out how to get into diag ill give this a shot
update: i still cant figure out a way to get to the diagnostic menu to find the msl and unlock. i believe the t mo flyer is not subsidy locked,as when i put my vzw lte sim into it,it does not prompt me to enter an unlock code.
i dont know if the difference here is the fact that youve got an unbranded international unit,or the fact that youre on the $3/day prepay. i called t mo and played dumb, and eventually they confirmed that i would need an internet "broadband" plan, wich would make the sim card not work in phones, and be more expensive
hoping maybe the $3 prepay plan maybe is what is letting it work,i ordered another sim that i plan to activate with the same
failing that,i guess i need to either sell this one and find a international unit,or find a way to make the t mobile unit "look" like the international one to t mobile.

Sprint Photon abroad on GSM

So i just picked up a used photon to use in Europe but have been reading some disturbing info. Some of it is rather old so just wanted to get updated info.
1. I want to use a local foreign sim. Can i just put one in and use it?
2. Do i need to call sprint to unlock it? I did put in an old Wind sim from italy while I am still here in the U.S. and it asked for a PIN. Is that a PIN I get from Wind or sprint?
3. I read somewhere about renaming two files to bypass the Sprint activation screen. Is that still recommended even though this phone is activated and i using it as my normal cellphone in the US? Pros and cons of doing this?
4. I read somewhere that I will not be able to use foreign sim data/internet? Is this still true. Is there any workaround for this?
Any recent real world experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

1) Yes. Depending on the carrier you may need to configure the APN's for data / internet. Orange UK was just plug and go for me. Vodafone Romania and Tigo Colombia needed APN's configured. If you buy the SIM at the office of the carrier they will help you configure it at that time. If you buy the Sim online, Tweakker or APN Global can help. Both are available on Google Play, or you could always go to the carrier's office.
2) No need to unlock. The PIN would be from the operator (Wind in your case). Normally the PIN is on the little card that the SIM card pops out of of.
3) I never did this. I think that was just for people who were not going to be able to activate the phone in the US. Since yours is already activated I would not worry about it.
4) You can use 3G data assuming APN's and your Sim / plan are current.
I had a few annoyances trying to get prepaid sim cards to work for both voice and data in Iceland and Germany, but I was eventually able to get them to work.

Can I Use T-Mobile Phone SIM for Data on Unlocked ATT Tab S7?

So I have an issue with my current tablet that is locked to T-Mobile not getting any data using a normal phone sim. I'm not about to risk buying a different T-Mobile locked tablet or even one with T-Mobile Firmware as I have a feeling I will run into the same issue, and I can't get any clear answers about it.
Does it make sense for me to buy an ATT Unlocked S7 and use a T-Mobile Phone SIM in it then? Surely an unlocked Tablet from another carrier wouldn't get caught in the data-only SIM mess right? Or are there other ways around this issue? Ironically all I really need is data, but I need to be able to use a normal phone sim from my T-Mobile plan.
Usually t-mobile doesn't care if you use tablet plan sim cards inside phones but it does limit the usage of phone plan sim cards inside tablets.
So with tablet from popular/well known brands, no matter if it's from another carrier or a factory unlocked version, you are almost certain to be detected by t-mobile and it will either block the tablet or limit the speed to 3g speed, especially with those free phone lines with unlimited data.
You would better go with an imported tablet not dedicated for US market.

Last update is from June 2021. I'm still on Android 11

T-Mobile sim card doesn't work on Verizon locked Galaxy Tab S7 5G

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 5G TABLET that is locked by Verizon. I put a T-Mobile sim card in it and it says it is not a Verizon sim card and shows a ? on top of the icon for the sim card. There is nothing asking me to enter a reset code. Under the phone number it says Unknown. So using an unlock code wouldn't work unless I can find a place to enter it. I tried to get Verizon to unlock it over the phone and they said I had to take it to a store, at the store they said it had to be done over the phone and the person saying it had to go to a store gave me inaccurate information. Samsung won't do anything and T-Mobile said go to Verizon. It hasn't had any service with Verizon for over a year and it was with the prior owner. I've wasted hours on this and accomplished nothing. What's my best plan of action here?
This may be unrelated to your problem, but I tried unsuccessfully to move my Verizon Tab S8+ (fully paid for) to T mobile, and was advised by the T Mobile engineers that it did not have the necessary drivers for their 5G network. Indeed, I tried using a T Mobile Sim card, and it would only connect to their 3G network.

Good to know. I trust about half of what T-Mobile 'experts' tell me on the phone. Are you able to text to anyone on the tablet over their network?
Sorry, I only text thru my connected phone account. But the only limitation I had w the tablet was an inability to connect to the 5G bands, but 3G did work on T Mobile. My Tab was not locked to Verizon. It just does not have the necessary radio bands to connect to their 5G signal.
Nobody here has a clue how to unlock this tablet?

Have you tried opening the dialer pad and doing *#2263# and enabling all the network channels that way?

If it has been a year, then it should work. Who was the previous owner? You may need to contact them. It is possible that it is still associated with his or her account. I had a friend that had the same problem with an iPad that was Verizon plan and he wanted it to work on T-Mobile. After several calls to Verizon he got it to work. T-Mobile can't do anything until Verizon fixes it.
Update: After thinking about this a bit more. The person who said that you need to take it to a Verizon store is probably correct. For Verizon to remotely unlock it, it has to be on its network, meaning you need a Verizon SIM.
On a more cynical side. It is possible the person you acquired it from never paid the device off. Here is how the scam goes.
- Person buys device on a payment plan with a CC.
- Verizon sends device and activates it on its network.
- Person then ghosts Verizon on payments
- Person the sells device at near retail price and pockets the difference between what he or she has already paid Verizon
- Verizon does not unlock device because it is now considered stolen
- New user (you) are not able to get the device unlocked to work on another network
