[APP] Toggler: Toggle Tilt-to-wake and Always-on screen on Wear OS - Wear OS Software and Hacking General

Toggler is a Wear OS app to quickly change the state of "Tilt-to-wake" and "Always-on display". It uses accessibility for that (it reads screen of Settings app and simulates user input). The two toggles are accessible just as any other apps in launcher/drawer so they can be mapped to hardware button or put on watch face as complication.

}
What Toggler accomplishes is already be possible with AutoInput (which I never tried, I confess) but I believe that the single purpose of Toggler allows it to be fully event driven, efficient and faster. Plus it also should support all (up to 28) language variants of toggle texts. If you grant Toggler the "Display over other apps" permission, it will try to cover screen when it simulates input (it worked fine on emulator but was too slow to start on my real watch).
On first run, you will will be asked to enable Toggler in Accessibility settings
I tested Toggler only on emulator and single watch in single language so I desperately welcome your feedback to continue with this app.
The app icon looks like toggle which doesn't represent actual state of the toggle. I guess here things could improve a bit - to report state changes and possibly provide enhanced complication that actually reports current state.
Video of Toggler in action on Youtube.
UPDATE: v0.2 adds support for "Power off". To prevent accidental shutdown, the confirmation dialog ("Are you sure?") is kept open and needs to be confirmed by user.
UPDATE 2: Made it available on the Play Store.

Hi nice work! Could you add "toggle touchscreen lock"?
I have a small problem. If I use your button launcher I can find both shortcuts of your app, but when I try to use it with autowear or gesture launcher there is only one app called "toggler" that toggle the aos.
Regards

Hi, great! Could you please add this for 4G toggle?
Its very complicated to get to en-/disable 4g option (many submneues)
and to save battery this is a very usefull option

Hi, very good app. Thank you.
The app works perfectly on my LG G Watch R.
In combination with your other app "Button Launcher", it solves (partially) the missing setting of Wear Os to toggle easily the "Alway On Display" mode.
I say partially, as for instance, there is on my Amazfit GTS smartwatch (with its proprietatry simple OS) a very efficient setting allowing you to set the range time when the AOD is active or not. Perhaps could you improve your Toggler app by including this range time. Or create a new app, called for instance "Apps Launcher" which could launch an app (Toggler for instance) at specific times.

Hi is possible toggle Mobile data for esim users??

Hi. Love the app but as above I'd like to automate using tasker and autowear. Could you please supply the command line syntax to toggle the tilt function?

Hi is possible toggle Mobile data for esim users??

Is posible one new version that can be rotated clock 90,180 and 360ยบ ?
Some chargers of watchs have horizontal position and and the sphere is rotated.
THANKS !.
Good job !.

Hello
@moneytoo Thank you for the nice solution. I wonder what are the action names for Tilt-to-wake and AOD activities? I'm looking for the way to automate it using Autowear Tasker plugin. Besides, is there a way to run these two activities at once?
Regards

apk version not compatible or source to compile myself available?
Hi.
Nice app. I used it with a fossil watch successfully.
Now I switched the phone's ROM to a custom ROM (the watch not changed) and can't install toggler neither from the play store nor the sold from this thread any more.
The play store tells that it's not compatible with my phone.
The new ROM of the phone is lineageos latest 17.1 (Android 10). As said, the watch itself is unchanged with the fossil stock ROM.
Any ideas where to get a compatible apk of toggler?
I'd also compile myself if the source sold be available somewhere.

I tried the toggler app, but on the ticwatch pro 3 it is broken. That is, the toggle for tilt doesn't work at all, and the always on toggle requires another tap and is not automatic. I think that it has not been optimized for the dpi of the ticwatch pro 3, and therefore the automation carried out by the App is not correct

You're probably right, as far as I know it doesn't work on watches with newer WearOS

Just so I'm clear, what kind of help are you asking for at this stage? I can help test the product but I haven't done any mobile development.
If you haven't done developement just Keep trying it and report bugs! If you have special wishes or ideas for the GUI you are welcome
Im just programming the Launcher Part
All I'm after is an app that uses motion for unlocking. In the purest form it can be like the iPhone unlocker where there's a bar to slide but, unlike S2SU, the bar should be positionable and it shouldn't write over anything else on the screen. That means if you have something like SpB Mobile Shell, when your phone is locked it shows the Now screen. I would want to see the Now screen still. Here's a mockup:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

}
More advanced features can be things like custom-defined motions for unlocking including no visual hints which in effect will function like a password. As for functionality outside of unlocking...it doesn't really interest me because so many other applications already do that. Is there something you need tested now? When I ran it, it didn't seem like it was at that stage yet.

IMHO, "Invisible Lock Screen" and "Gesture to Unlock" are 2 distinct challenges. I agree it would be cool to combine the 2. But you may need to prioritize those 2 efforts.
My personal opinion would be to implement a small, very efficient gesture recognition module that generates an event based on the a successful gesture match. It would be like "Gesture 2 Action". Then others like A_C could perhaps integrate or make it an option for S2U2. With G2A, then again, it could be used to do anything - launch an app, set an alarm, disable bluetooth, etc...
The invisible lock screen would be nice also, but I think it presents entirely different challenges.
I will reupload Preview B in some minutes, there you will be able to Launch programs by Gestures
You can configurate it in a text file
Scilor, aren't there already apps that launch programs via gesture? Touch Commander is one. I'm sure there are more. What are your development priorities?

But those are usually simple one-directional gestures. Not more complex ones.

I guess what I'm after is what's not available now. To start, a very simple low-impact unlock slider that doesn't override the visible screen, and to finish a custom-motion unlocker with option to hide the visible hint i.e. slider track.

That's true. If the primary purpose of this new app will be to one-up Touch Commander with complex gestures, I guess that would be something new.
I just Uploaded the new Version!
now you can launch programs with it (configuratible in the gestures.cfg)
interesting app, works on my touch. Thanks!
I just uploaded a new Version Alpha 0.0.1
I little improved the gesture recognition and made it a littel bit Skinnable
Iam Primary working on a Launcher, because i dont' know how to block buttons, if iam able to do this, i will implent the Locking function
interesting project but in future it should be possible to make gestures in any app!

[How To] Launch Tasker tasks from the G Watch - AutoVoice integration possible

This isn't really a full tutorial, more a merge of two separate ones so that you can start tasker tasks and / or autovoice, in order to do home-automation or basically just start any tasker task you want.
Let me show you what I'm talking about:
What you need:
Tasker
AutoNotifications
AutoVoice (optional, if you dont want to launch a task directly)
Basicly you need to set up a notification using AutoNotification (You can use this tutorial to set up a notification if you do not know how).
Important:
You have to use Buttons for the actions, as only these will be visible and usable on the watch.
Do NOT select "Persistent" mode, else the notification will not show up on the watch
You have to select a sound for the notification, else the notification will not show up on the watch
Do NOT select "Dismiss on Touch", else the notification can only be used once
Also useful: If you do not set a text, the notification will only be visible on the phone when the status bar is expanded. This keeps you status bar clean, which I prefer.
Create the necessary profiles and tasks for each button (as shown in the tutorial). I have one button to start my task and one to dismiss the notification.
This being done you can now run the task to open the notification. The notification will show up on your watch and you can launch the actions you set for each button. If you don't want to use AutoVoice profiles, you're done here
If you do though (like me) in order to (for example) start more tasks using only your voice (useful for home automation) continue reading.
Setup AutoVoice profiles in tasker (you can use this tutorial if you don't know how) for each voice command you want to use. Then create a task to launch AutoVoice recognition. Set this task as the task that will be executed when you press the button you created above. Done, you can now use your watch to start AutoVoice recognition and execute any task you want by voice.
My setup:
A notification with 2 buttons: The first one opens AutoVoice recognition on my N5 so that I can say for example "Turn the lights on". The second one deletes the notification when I don't need it anymore.
I have seperate Tasker profiles with AutoVoice to start several home automation commands (control my lights, pc, etc).
That's it, it's really not that complicated.
I hope this was useful, as soon as the Google Now API Xposed Module will be updated, you can also start tasks from your watch directly by voice without the need of this notification. But until then this is a good alternative, in my opinion at least
If you want to start tasks directly from your watch with your voice you can now do this again (watch the video). Google Now API has been updated to 1.31. Combine that with AutoVoice like I did here to unlock unlimited possibilities. Requires Xposed Framework. Or you can use the method above instead.
I had some fun with this last night - I couldn't get IFTTT to launch with standard voice commands, so I ended up putting together "launch if/then" which launches it properly.
I had some Google Play credit left over, so I ended up buying Tasker and AutoVoice Pro.
Thanks for sharing this!

You have to set a profile which activates when autonotification receives a message. That message must be the name of the button. This profile will then launch the task.

[AOSP/CM/HTC][LP-MM] Gesture Unlock with Custom Shortcuts

[AOSP/CM/HTC][LP-MM] Gesture Unlock with Custom Shortcuts
This Xposed module enables gesture unlock for Lollipop and Marshmallow devices . The gesture unlock is highly customizable, from changing colours to visibility, error messages, background, etc. You can even hide the emergency button.
What's more, you can use gestures to directly open specific shortcuts from the lockscreen, for example use U to unlock, W to open WhatsApp, M for email, etc. These shortcuts don't have to be just apps, they can be anything on your device, like Direct Dial, open a specific Contact, etc.
The module is pretty self explanatory, and will prompt you to set a pattern on the lock screen, because that is what it replaces. Other than that, there are no specific instructions to use it.
The only caveats are because of the way Xposed works.
A. Your gestures will be visible to any one or any app on your device. No root required.
B. You need root to restart the keyguard after changing the gesture full screen option. It is not mandatory, you could manually reboot if you require. All other changes will be reflect automatically, but not this one.

Source code : https://github.com/Rijul-Ahuja/GestureUnlock/
Compatibility :
I personally test on CM13, and I will support CM12.0, CM12.1, AOSP 5.x and 6.0.x and derivatives. HTC support is limited unless I find a tester. Support for other OEM ROMs is absent beyond basic working functionality.

FAQ
My ROM already has gesture unlock, how is this better?
The module has a lot of customization options, like, gesture colours, gesture visibility, text visibility, show gesture correct or incorrect, show or hide emergency button and text, and even full screen gesture. You even launch custom shortcuts directly from the lock screen.
Does this work with screen off?
No, that is device specific and I can't implement it without having a device in hand, and even then, it is beyond my abilities.
Module does not work at all
Give me logcat, SystemUI.apk or any other lockscreen.apk which your device uses, I will try to implement it.
Some features, particularly emergency button related, do not work
Give me logcat, SystemUI.apk or any other lockscreen.apk which your device uses, I will try to fix it, but if it gets too difficult to manage because of your OEM ROM, it will not be done.
I am stuck on the lock screen, please help!
Long press the gesture view 3 times and draw a gesture. Your stock pattern will be restored.
CM / HTC / Xperia / TouchWiz support?
Works on some HTC, Xperia and TouchWiz devices and not all features work properly.
CM is supported before 20th June nightly I believe.

working well, thanks so much
Hi again. I disabled the knock code module as you said and it worked. However, i noticed that there's something wrong with the gesture entry. I feel like it's not working as it should. Sometimes the gesture gets recognised from the first attempt sometimes it requires multiple attempts. I don't know if it's something from my side but the gesture entry feels so laggy and not working properly.
Great work. One thing, it just feels a little slow.

I think there is a lag when using custom shortcuts to unlock, but not when unlocking normally. Is that what you're talking about @Tyaginator?
EDIT : Cannot reproduce any longer after reboot it seems?

No i was talking about normal unlock only, it's just minor. Currently i'm back to knock code coz I've kinda habit of that and maybe i feel it slow coz i'm too quick in unlocking via knock code. I'll keep on checking further updates.

Working fine, great job!
Just some improvements is needed
1. The D-pad, too big and the app screen behind it react together when touch, so in a map app, when move the dpad the map turn together.
So should be able to avoid the mocked app to "react" while touching the road, and make the dpad able to collapse or minimize.
2. When choosing the map location in the module, if I search, for example, Central Park, it is not shown to me the map and I can't select the exactly location I want of it.
But great app anyway, thanks
Great app. Best part is you can select which app to spoof the location.
Making you can fake the location without affecting other apps like Google map

Yes I still research how to make the touch event not propagate to the target app screen. Not all apps react like this, need more time to fix it.
2. Next release will customize the location picker, maybe include new feature for saving favorite places.

Same for me, application Pokemon Go crash on startup.
It's annoying because module was very useful.
I'm guessing spoofing location for system apps is not possible? I can't find system apps in the app picker

Which system apps that you need to spoof?
Actually it may work, but.. I take an easy way to just block it, because there was a problem on passing preferences config through different apps.
Great app and by far my favorite. The only down side I've experienced is that the map (stops, pokemon, etc...) in Pokemon becomes unresponsive after a while when this is running. The rest of the menus, nearby monsters button, etc all work still but you can't click to move/rotate the map or engage monsters. This is on a rooted LGG2. Other than when that happens, the app is perfect. No "gps lost" errors or anything. Good job!
This is the best fake gps app that I used. Would you consider adding auto-walk function? So that we don't have to hold our fingers on the screen for a couple minutes to hatch eggs.

Thank you for using this application.
Auto walk is a good idea, let me think first and look for its possibility. :good:
From all fake GPS programs I tried, this seems to be the one that fakes better. I use the app gpsWifiPosDifference to see the differences between the apps. This is the only which works well with GPS precision and altitude. Most of the other GPS fixes the altitude to zero or to some weird values like 7!

Trying experimental version 1.5 the crashes stopped.
First, thank you for the great app! I really like it and had no issues since I started using it more than 6months ago...
Do you still develop or did you stop working on it?
Bug:
- Deleting Elements from the Favorite List sometimes messes up other elements in the list.
Feature Ideas:
- Maybe start the Map Selector already zoomed to the current location
- Maybe have "Save as Favorite" not checked by default
- Autowalk
- Joystick "Speed" Setting (limit max speed to customizable value: like 5km/h for walking or 22km/h for bicycle or 50km/h for car)
- Joystick Minimize (remember location of "dot" if moved e.g. to the corner)
-- EDIT: Actually, it works as long as I stay in the app. but e.g. Minimizing/ScreenOffOn reset it to show the controller in the center.
But as said these are ideas which might be nice to use but the app already works great as it is.
Thanks again, Regards

How To Guide Force full screen on all aps and force rotation to landscape

Forcing full screen:
Navigate to Main Screen > Display size under settings and set each app to Full Screen
Force Rotation:
Install the app called Rotation | Orientation Manager by Pranav Pandey from the play store
Set it to Full Sensor OVERRIDE SYSTEM and give it any permissions it asks for.
Set it to Start on boot within its settings.
I expected to, but did not have to, set it to run in the background or tell it to auto boot within battery optimization. It has been working for over a week now.
I turned off notifications so it runs silently.
Thanks for this, its a very useful app! However, I just realised I don't really need it!
When I first setup the Find N, I set every app to Full Screen (as you do), thinking why wouldn't you want as much screen as possible for every app? Some of those apps will only display in portrait, hence the problem that when they start up on the folding screen, they automatically rotate 90 degress, and therefore you have to turn the device to portrait to use the app.
But I just realised that almost all the apps I have (like 99.9%) that will only display in portrait, do not need the extra width of the folding screen, and in fact end up stretched width wise. As such, if you just put those apps back to a 4:3 ratio rather than full screen (which still uses most of the screen), then they display on the folding screen in landscape (though with grey bars down each side). Another benefit is that they also don't look stretched anymore.
Great alternative, thanks.

No worries. Having just been through all my portrait apps and done this, I've also noticed that almost none of them benefit from the extra width even when they have it as they haven't been written to take advantage of it, so are either streched or have loads of space either side. Most are also the types of apps I don't care about using all the screen for, such as banking, parking, or food delivery, etc. All the apps that really benefit from spreading out such as messaging, media, video, and productivity apps, etc., already work in landscape and don't rotate.
I like to use side-by-side when unfolded, so this isn't an issue for me. Would be nice to easily swap out apps when I'm in SBS tho, currently I have to change one to floating, close it, then do the 2-finger ale again...

There is another one called Rotation mentioned above; however, other than I rarely need it anymore, it is not folding phone aware, and therefore you can't have different settings for the outer screen versus the inner screen, so if you force landscape on the inner screen then it will do the same on the outer screen.
Does this app allow you to set different preferences for the outer screen vs the inner screen?

You can swap out apps in SBS if you put them on the pop out sidebar; then you can drag the icon to replace the app in which ever of the side you want.

Ah great, thanks for the info!
I love the forced rotation setting. Is there any way to have the settings attached to the system drop-down settings? For example, if I turn auto-rotate on the phone, it automatically turns on 'Forced Auto Rotate' from the app? Not sure if that's a possibility.
Since the last system update, the app no longer works properly for me. Does anyone else have this problem?
No problem there with ROTATION app

I've been trying to find a fix for my old J3 (2016) that I'm using for a personal project and now I can have it (almost) permanently in landscape mode!!
Thank you for sharing this
