Screen wake up / unlock without input. - Huawei P30 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

So I have my phone on my desk with nothing happening and the screen phone is waking itself up and then displays "Smart unlock successful".
I have my Huawei Watch 2 set as a smart unlock device and connected but nothing happens on this unless it happens to the phone first.
I turned off AOD incase that had an impact but it still happens.
Also turned off the pick up to wake and other options so really don't see why the phone should want to wake up without me touching it.
Anyone else have this issue?

I haven't tested it on .124 (which arrived today) but I turn the fingerprint scanner off for unlock and when the phone is on charge the phone will keep lighting up every few seconds and saying 'face unlock unsuccessful'. I suspect this is the same bug as yours.

I am still on .115
Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

My screen wakes when left on table every 10-30 secs as well but phone doesn't unlock or anything. Seems like a OS bug for this model?

Yup, I have the same issue.
Fingerprint sensor shows up and goes off on it's own randomly.
Makes no difference if I have AOD on or not, I still get the issue.

while my phone is on super charge with the provided charger, the screen will come on and off and says super charging and %.
however, if using a regular 2A charger it stays off as usual.
i just have swipe to unlock and double tap to wake on.

4.2 broke the battery info screen

In previous versions of Android, the battery info screen indicates that it has been active while the screen has been on (naturally), and you can tell when and how often the phone has been active when the screen was off.
In 4.2 the info about "active" seems to be completely random. You can't tell anything abouth how often the phone wakes up without the screen being turned on, which used to be a great way to discover wheather any app was causing wake ups and possible battery drain.
Is this a known bug that is going to be fixed? Or is it a feature somehow? I'm surprised I haven't found anyone else bringing this up.
It happens sometimes, saw it also on my n7. The problem fixed itself after some hours of usage. A full charging cycle could also fix it.
I have the same issue on my nexus 4 and nexus 7 running 4.2.1. The solution is simple.
When the phone boots up just turn off the screen and turn it back on. Then it will continue counting screen on time.
For me the problem seems to persists no matter what I do.

You could try to plug the charger in and turn of the screen and turn the screen on. And a reboot can't fix it?

It looks like this to me regardless of ROM, on both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. Surprises me then, that I am the only one stuck permanently with this phenomenon.

I noticed it a few times, but it fixed itself ( every time I tried different things like playing, the charge etc). My n7 shows me sometimes that it's charging but it's not plugged in, so...

That may be because of dust in the USB plug, or that the "tounge" in the middle of the port is bent towards one of the sides. Try blowing in it, or bending the tounge back.

[Q] Screens lights on and drains battery

Hi,
Since a few weeks, I've been facing a very annoying problem. I have a samsung Galaxy S3 mini with cyanogen mod 11.0.
When I lock my phone, the screens lights off (as it is supposed to). But about every 30 seconds, it lights on, displaying the lock screen. Then it lights off, and starts the process again. Finally, my battery is being drained. It takes 4 hours to use 50% of my battery.
So I installed Wake lock detector to find the problem, but I cannot find anything relevant, so I cannot really debug by myself.
Could you give me a hand and tell me what I have to look for ?
Thanks.
UP. This issue is really annoying.
Am I in the right section at least ?
Ok, actually the bug is occuring only when the phone is not on AC.
When plugged, it behaves normally. So I wonder, is there a way to make the phone believe that it is on AC ?

Turn off screen while charging broken in 6.0.1 update?

Just got the update to 6.0.1 today. With 5.1.1 I used to double press the side button to put the watch in theater mode and turn off the screen while charging. My v1 moto 360 developed some screen burn in after about a year from the charging screen, so I now turn it off on my v2 while charging. But with 6.0.1, the screen will not stay off, the charging screen turns back on after 10-15 seconds. Anyone else also notice this with the new upgrade?

Yes, noticed it last night - I normally put it in theatre mode too for just the same reason, but now it turns back on after a few seconds. I've tried changing the developer options for 'Stay awake when charging' to enable/disable and it makes no difference
EDIT: Tempted to try the 'Slumber' app, but read some horror stories in reviews...
Thanks for the confirmation... I have an support inquiry into Motorola, hopefully they can fix this in another update. I had some wackiness with the contacts section after the upgrade, so i did a factory reset. It did fix the contacts problem, but unfortunately the screen still turns back on when charging.
please keep us updated. this is ridiculous. they fix one thing and break another. Motorola is ridiculous.

Same Issue
I also have this same issue. (Moto 360 Gen 2, 6.0.1)
Tried a factory reset after upgrading to 6.0.1 OTA and the screen turns on after a few seconds of being off while charging.

Figured out the issue
Hello All,
I have figured out the issue. Motorola changed how it works.
You can no longer double click to go into theater mode set it on the charger and have the screen stay off.
Now, for whatever reason, you need to place it on the charger, wait for the charging screen to open and for the charging animation to finish / slightly fade, press and hold the side button until it fades to black, your screen will now stay off until you remove it from the charger. Took me a while to figure this out, ha-ha.
I have tried this several times in a row and the screen does remain off.
Hopefully this helps you guys as well.
Thanks,
-th3r3isnospoon
PS, if it doesn't work, reboot once then follow the above instructions.

hmm....i couldn't get this to work, even after a reboot. when i press the side button, the app list immediately comes up and if i hold it longer, it switches to the black and white ambient mode screen, which i guess is better than the charging screen. But I couldn't get the screen to turn off like with 5.1.1. If you keep holding the side button for too long, the watch does a hard reboot. Anyone else manage to get this to work?

I just tried this, and couldn't get it to work either. When I hold down the side button, the app list appears, holding down longer shows the ambient watch face. I have the 42mm version and have Always On turned On.
I did try turning off always on screen too, I thought it might be related to that, but no change
Does not work for me either, even after a reboot...
My solution (for now) to reducing the amount of heat the watch is subjected to on the charger (I normally charge overnight) is to use one of these WiFi controlled plugs:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Watts-Clever-Controlled-Monitoring-Features/dp/B00UQOPM8U
I make sure it's turned OFF before going to bed, turn off the watch (optional) and set it on the charger. Set the timer on the InPlug to come on 1hr30mins before I get up in the morning and then automatically switch off. That means the watch and charger come on, get charged before I get out of bed, and the InPlug switches itself (and the charger) off again after 1hr30mins so the watch/screen is only ever subjected to an hour and a half of charging and the associated heat/screen burn.
The other option is to have it on when you go to bed and switch off 1hr30mins or 2hrs later, but then the watch is on all night using up the charge.
You can set the InPlug to do the same thing daily, so it's a 'set and forget' kind of thing. (Other makes are available, for example, Belkin).
I noticed that the charging screen seems dimmer (maybe it's just me) than before the update, so maybe that will reduce the chances of any damage.

doesn't work at all. holding it down brings up app list, thats it.
Hi! Excuse me for the OT question, but since you talked about it...how do you do a factory reset in 6.0.1? The reset option is no longer in the settings menu...
In settings, go to bottom and choose "unpair with phone" that performs a factory reset.

Do you know of a firmware update coming that will fix this or are you just speculating?
I'm currently using Slumber for Android Wear, and it's free with no weird permissions.
It appears in the app drawer on the watch; you just have to activate it before you drop it on the charger.

Just speculating. No new info yet.
Guys there is still a way you have to
First press once then press and hold on the second press.
So press, press with hold.

How could you apply factory reset? I've noticed that this option is gone from Moto 360 menu after 6.01v uprgrade. Thx

Weird QC 3.0 charger effect

I have an HTC QC 3.0 charger that I am trying to use with my G5. It charges the phone ok, but the display will not stay off. I turn the display off using the power button and it goes off. Then after a few seconds it comes back on to the lock screen (I have smart lock turned on and it is enabled by my being at home). After a few seconds the screen turns off again because there was no activity to unlock the screen. This repeats continually. This does not happen with the stock G5 charger. (or with non-QC chargers either) I have lock screen notifications turned off, always on turned off. Any ideas?
My phone has started and stopped charging twice since in have had it. This was happening repeatedly every 20 to 30 seconds. It would turn the screen on each time. Not sure why it was doing it. Maybe That was the case with you?

Sounds similar. I'm pretty sure mine is charging the entire time, the display just keeps turning on and off.

Question Realme GT 5G just turned off - now in bootloop

Hi,
Just few minutes ago my brand new phone just broke on me. I was holding it in my hand, locked screen, like minute later I tried to unlock it to no avail, screen just stayed black. There was a sound when I touched it by the fingerprint sensor, but no light up from behind the screen. I tried holding down power, then power+volume up, phone only vibrated, no reaction on the screen. I've connected it to the charger, and now it seems to be in bootloop - screen is turned off, and every few seconds phone vibrates. I've managed to somehow turn it back on once, phone booted to system, everytthing worked just fine, then I locked screen and it just stayed black, now I can't reproduce that, can't even turn it off, it's just vibrating every so often. Did it really brick in my hand? Software of Hardware? Everything worked just fine, maybe battery was draining a little bit too much for my taste, (15-20%/hour with screen on+lte/wifi) but 120Hz refresh rate+bright setting and AOD turned on 9am-9pm could do that. Do you guys have any suggestions, or I'm expecting trip to the service?
Sorry, but i cannot guess any reason. I am stumped as this bootlooping shouldn't beb happening... Very strange. May be its better to show it to service center guys.
Btw, i had tried this on my previous android phone to shut it down, like a hard shutdown. I had pressed power + volume down + volume up keys together to shut it down completely. Basically by pressing all the 3 keys. If you want to try, you can try it. I have not tried it on my GT, but had used it on Oneplue 2 and Honor View 10.
Hope your issue gets resolved asap...
Okay, I've contacted support via livechat, they told me it's definetly just software glitch, and to resolve this I have to wipe dialer cache (?) and all system settings - I did it, everything worked just fine, but today, again, same thing happened. First time phone just died in my hand, second time it was while listening to music via Pulsar, today I was just sharing wifi as a hotspot, phone randomly broke connection and would not unlock, but still I could tell it was on, because of vibrations and sounds. Not a software glitch after all? If I manage to unlock it I'll just recover it to factory settings, we'll see if that helps, but I don't like the sound of that.
What apps are -you- installing?
Launchers and power management apps are prime suspects...
Otherwise, mobo failure. It may be firmware but how far do you want to take it?
It should run fine out of the box.
Last time I played with launchers was with good old SGS about 5 years ago, only app out of ordinary was AccuBattery to check that SoT drain, but could it make such a damage without root privilages?
