Can any Mate 9,10,20 & Pro variations record video using dedicated external mic? - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Accessories

Hi All, seeking any insight into the above issue. When recording video, the audio is so important, and a dedicated mic is required. I cannot seem to get definitive info on this issue - phone specs do not state if ext mics are supported - and my reading is that the Mate 9 cannot support a ext mic (the native camera app has no such options to grab audio from an ext mic). Do any of the other Mates support ext mic? Anyone having such a setup be so kind to share their experience and equipment and settings?
I'm also gathering the video in our Mate series leaves us a bit wanting - I know my Mate 9 in FHD 30fps exhibits jelly and its embarrassing - I read it may have something to do with having the video stabilisation switched ON (so the IS is not exactly doing a great job, so need to turn it off). The colours and brightness is all great enough but the jelly is just deal breaker. Am trying to work with the video camera's limitations esp what speed to pan/move the camera to avoid the jelly. Failing this, will seek to move to LG V-series or any others known for better video (I feel video is the bigger requirement for me, all cams are now pretty much on par w photos really, so not fussed w photos).

Google is your friend

I am using Shure with Mate 20 pro via USB C Port. And it works awesome as it records Stereo sound with the default app.

Sorry, but no, it happens because of your hardware, x10 mini Pro camera is very good, but still not enough to capture in HD. Fox example my friend has X10 and its 8.1mP so he spoke me he can capture in HD. Its because of his camera (8.1 )

It's because our phone don't have the power to encode video in HD the camera resolution have nothing to do with video recording.
For example some tablets (xoon) or phones (galaxy R) have 5mp camera and record video in HD.

Sorry for my ignorant answer
VGA 640x480 is the highest possible.
As it has been said before, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro simply don't have enough power to encode video in 720p and higher.
Just an idea... What about saving the raw video stream and encoding it on a pc... (yeah i know it takes a lot of space.)

Not sure what class of sd card you'd need, but the mb/s could still be greater than even class 10 could handle! HD raw is a lot of bits a second.

most probably no
to check just play a 720p(mp4) on arcmedia ,it lags alot
i think it might be possible to record vid on lower framerate(15 or lower)...
Edit1
it has nothing to do with megapixelzz eg:web cams have 2mpx with 720p
For me, X10mini & mini pro is enough powerful to record 720p because many less powerful Samsung or other featured phone can record HD. Also camera does not matter cause iPod touch has a VGA camera which is capable to record 720p at 30FPS. It is just about kernel & camera driver. It is not impossible but may be it is very difficult.

I think you are missing something....by power, i assume, u'r tryin 2 point 2wards "processing" power????...were did you find a cell with less than 600Mhz processing power and YET encoding 1280X720 videos???????!!!!!!!!!....it is just plain impossible......can u site any example to prove me wrong, please??????

is there any video player which plays 720p videos??
My media player only uses a 400mhz processor and 256mb RAM and can encode HD video from either DVB (already encoded to be fair) or analogue RGB input... However, the processor is geared towards media processing, in fact it was built to do that and that alone, if it was asked to render a simple vga 3D game it would probably output 1fps if anything at all!
Some processors are designed for specific tasks which they can do remarkably well, others are design to do many things but not quite as well. Software does play a mighty big part but it cannot overcome the constraints of the hardware in question.
Maybe other phones with HD recording have an inbuilt subprocessor or utilize functions inherant in Arm 7 but not Arm 6.. it might be possible to emulate the functions but the results might not be great.

ITS very very very difficult
but nothing is imposible
see this:::

I don't think that processing power is the limitation here for higher quality recording. This is what SE used to say for froyo or gb and it's plain crap proven repeatedly.
The problems are:
a) the sensor, i.e. is it capable of higher res. for video recording? 5mpixels are more that enough for 720p (i.e. like the N1) but there's more than the mpixels in the camera sensor to be able to do more.
b) we don't have kernel support for anything more than VGA. And this is sensor specific. If we ever got lucky and another msm7x27 device used this sensor and had better resolution we might have been able to investigate if it's usable.
c) we can't load custom kernels (this stops any other thoughts for the time being).

My friend, by the term "powerful" I meant the processing power too. If it is possible with Omnia HD's 600MHz then it is possible with 600MHz too. I have modded my old Motorola E2 which have a 1.3MPx camera & now I am able to record 720p at 17Fps with that. I just worked with kernel, because E2 runs linux & android is also using linux kernel I think it is possible. I am currently working on that. Let me see If I can prove you wrong

nd of omnia hd, or n8 or SE vivaz....dey r symbian. symbian is a lot "lighter" os dan android but as sed, processin power is not actually da problem....lets keep fingrz crossd
now that we have kernel support.. is HD video recording possible??

[Q] issues with recording audio (clipping)

Anyone else out there try to use their Atrix to record audio, specifically loud-ish audio?
I am in a band, and as we work on new songs, we like to record what we've worked on to listen to outside of our jamspace to remember and to think about parts... our guitarist has an iPhone 4 and we have always used his phone to record. it does a pretty good job, and i think it has an on-board limiter to prevent clipping on playback. i got my Atrix a few months ago, and of course wanted to 1-up my iPhone4-using buddy, but when i record just about anything with my phone i get massive clipping and the resulting files are useless.
Has anyone found an app with a useful recording interface (preferably with a limiter). Ive tried Tape-a-talk, Hi-Fi Recorder, and Tape Machine Lite, and none have provided a helpful alternative to the iphone :-(

[Q] Possible to use the Prime as a Monitor for DSLR Video Shoots/Edits?

So I have a Panasonic GH2 that I use to shoot short films and music videos, and have been looking into getting an external monitor for it to see more details in the while I'm shooting, but since the Prime has an mini HDMI port, is it possible that I can just use that? The GH2 has an hdmi output (micro I think) and there has been some developers hacking it so external monitors can be used. Since I have under 8 posts, I can't post a link to it just yet.
Also, I know it wasn't possible with the first Transformer, but since the Prime has a quad core processor and has proven it can handle HD video with some demo's we've seen, would it be able to handle and playback raw footage from the camera straight from an SD card? The GH2 produces is AVCHD 1080p, it shows up on computers as .MTS files If that helps.
If all this worked, this would make the Prime even more of a bargain. Being able to view footage on a 10 inch screen and then even show it to actors and crew right after would add a ton of convenience.

I don't think it's a matter of the CPU being able to handle the load, but rather, whether or not the system is built to accept incoming video signal, which I'm pretty sure it can't.
I see, and there would be no way possible a modification or hack such as Cyanogenmod would allow it to accept incoming video signal? Or even have an app designed to do that function?

There was an app a few months ago, that was made for the iOS that let you extend to an iPad/phone and was mentioned to be ported to Android as well. But I can't remember the name.
However you could only interface via a computer, essentially reverse-remote desktop. I'll do some digging when I get back from class.
Sorry if I am not answering your question directly (at least not for your specific video camera), but you reminded me of an alternative that I will definitely explore if/when I have my own Android device i.e. DSLR Controller:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnxvFYza6Y4
In this case, the software takes advantage of Canon DSLR cameras and a USB connection to 'view' (and control) the camera remotely.
This guy used a Toshiba Thrive tablet (rather than an Android phone) to test and comment on it:
http://androidandme.com/2011/08/applications/dslr-controller-brings-live-view-canon-shooting-via-usb/
Now THAT is kinda neat.

How good is it to record lectures?

Hello!
I need to replace my digital recorder and I've seen a good offer for this cellphone at a popular chinese site and I was wondering how good is it to record audio lectures (90-120 minutes each) because that would be the main reason I would purchase it. It's cheaper than buying a new recorder nad I can use it a backup phone
It would be wonderful if someone can show me an example of a recording.
If you know of a cheap cellpone with great recording capabilities, please let me know, too
Thanks a lot!

Thank you!
I don't know if every cellphone works the same. I own a Moto X 2014 and the audio I get from a video is excellent but using a audio recorder I get almost no sound. It seems it uses different microphones for those two situations... Is is the same with this cellphone?

lack of apt-x hd got you down?

so far i'm really liking this phone. however, there are a couple things i wish were a little different:
1) i wish it had a dedicated, not-behind-the-screen fingerprint sensor (one thing my old LG did right).
2) i wish it supported apt-x hd for use with my (non-sony) wireless headphones.
so, i went looking for a solution to #2. for now, it appears that samsung just doesn't support apt-x hd-- and future official support is looking somewhere between doubtful and hopeless. additionally, i have a us version; my bootloader is locked and there does not appear to be a feasible software solution to the problem without root.
however, i stumbled onto this: creative bt-w3. i ordered it today and most likely won't have my hands on it for another week, buti wanted to make this post to:
--let people know about this possible solution to a vexing problem
--solicit any feedback or reviews, in case someone has already received one.
thanks for reading.
Vexing? This is vexing?
I just use LDAC, it's better than APT-X HD...
The Note9 when came out with Oreo, it had AptXHD then it was removed with Android Pie.
Now, after complaining, they out back AptX yet no HD support or HiRes audio support.
Seems Samsung is all about gimmicks but not audio.
The Dolby Atmos is crap if someone wants to defend them, try the Dolby Atmos on a Xbox One, then try the Samsung version and it's just an equalizer setting.
I'm currently saving for the Xperia phone, I'm done with Samsung.
Hey zagtastic, did you get this creative device working on your phone? I'm curious if it did in fact work for you. I'm looking into getting an S20 5G and was surprised by the lack of aptx-hd support on the specs.

If memory serves me correctly it's not; AptX-HD has better overall audio qualities. LDAC is the next best.
Even rooting won't give you AptX-HD; all these latter generation Samsung's lack the hardware support for this codec.

Bump, so does this thing work on a Samsung?
My Soundpeats TrueAir 2 buds sound bloody awesome with Dolby on but also running Poweramp. If anything they sound better than they were on my Mi10T Pro that has Apt-x built in.

No. whats vexing is buying the Note 20 Ultra 5G "unlocked" from Best Buy at $1300 only to realize it is still impossible to unlock the bootloader despite "right to repair". I will never buy another Galaxy or any other overpriced, overgoverned Samdung product. I should have bought another OnePlus. The lack of Apt-X is irritating but not a problem Id call "vexing" when there are so many other complaints that dwarf it.
Any Bluetooth codec will never be as good as a wired set of headphones anyway, UAPP or Poweramp output to 1 More or Similar in ears will sound a lot better, (inexpensively)

SSC is a better choice for Samsung Buds, etc. then APTX. Sample it...

LDAC streams at a max of 990kbps, translating to a sample rate of 96kHz and a bit depth of 24 bits while APTXhd stops at 48 kHz.
So LDAC is the top one followed by APTXhd

If you bt device doesn't support LDAC but its a Samsung bt that supports SCC that's probably the next best choice.
APTX HD is off the table useless it's hardware supported to begin with. Samsung does not support it.
