Anyone has the same problem like mine? about yesterday suddenly my fingerprint scanner on Xperia 1 doesn't work properly, always get alert "Not Recognize" my finger when i try to unlock with my finger.
i already tried, re-register my finger, washing my hands, restart myphone, but the censor always keep not recognize, sometime it can read but after 1 or 2 times try it will be back not recognize, anyone has the same issue? is this the software problem or my finger hw problem?

I had the same issue, even after updating to the new firmware. what i did was i restored/reset (Repaired) via the Xperia companion app. Now at least for me the fingerprint reader works flawless every single time.
So if formatting your phone is an option for you, that should work. (Was a pain re-installing all apps and re-setting all logins and all, but this really ironed out lot of issues for me)

I am on June update and I can tell you that formatting the device does NOT help. I don't have the July update yet to say if that they fixed the issue.
I hate the fact that it doesn't recognize my FP. It feels like Xperia Z5 all again. Then again FP is so deep seated and it's really difficult to use it when there's a case on.

Will update the result of update if the new firmware hit my region.
So far my fingerprint work flawless as it should be after no reason lol.

Xperia 1 - July Firmware FPR Lag Solved/Fixed
As i mentioned before, after the july firmware my FPR works mostly every single time. I guess every phone is different or maybe you can try what i did, it may just work for you.
I did a factory reset using the "Software repair" function in the Xperia Companion with the latest firmware, now the UI is amazingly smoother and the FPR reader works flawlessly.
I have made a small video showing exactly how good the reader works now. If you have the time please watch it and also follow the steps mentioned above if you have the time to restore all the apps and setting, but trust me its better than just living with an awful finger print function.

did you already reset your phone after update?

nope cause the prob popped up couple weeks after i bought it new ....so before the update was out

To me alone with touching it is already unblocked

I'm on August update and I get this frequently. There is a bug somewhere on this and when I hit the fingerprint issue, I just restart the phone and its perfect again (well after initial pin login due to reboot haha)
It's quite annoying but haven't had time to figure it out. Something with music app running while locked or?

Strange bug with fingerprint scanner

So I bought XRN3 (Snapdragon) 2 days ago and loving it! There is insignificant bug with fingerprint scanner. So I scanned my index fingers and am using it. I scanned them in natural position (meaning placing finger with nail facing up to the 3.5mm jack and IR blaster). If I scan my finger by turning it 180 degree, phone still unlocks but locks right away, which means it works, but locks again for some reason. Same for other index finger. It doesn't happen all the time through, sometimes it just unlocks. Anyone having these too?
I'm on MIUI 8.1.1.0 Global Stable.
Maybe you are blocking proximity sensor.

Thanks! Tried. Doesn't helped I noticed that on MIUI7 there was less fingerprint reading errors. Tried to rewrite fingeprints settings several times. Don't know. But that doesn't bother me a lot.

Honor 9 Home Button delay

Hello , i own Honor 9 for 3 days and its very good phone.
Only thing that i "hate" is when i press home button there is like 0.5 sec. delay before it goes to main screen...
I tried Factory reset, phone restart, google assist turned off - nothing seems to work
Finger print scanner works fast. No problem with it.
FW: B150
Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks
That because a simple touch is like previous. And if you hold for a second you go directly to main page. So it's normal
Mine has the same. Strange thing is that after a few hours usage it turns fast/instant all of a sudden. Then if I reboot it's back to the delay and then fast again after a little time. My first unit did not have this behaviour it was fast at all times. It had a faster fingerprint reader too. Not sure what is going on other than some kind of hardware differences.
Its normal don't worry about that.I too had a donor phone so I know this
That is strange as the Honor 9 has one of the best fingerprint scanners on the market.

That's definitely not normal. I've made a video https://youtu.be/DG4PvJePUAY
You can see a noticeable difference on the left phone.
I'm returning mine as this seems like hardware defect to me.
I have the same problem. Is it really an hardware problem and it is not possible to fix it by software?
Same here. Sometimes it even stops working, but rebooting brings it back (to delayed mode). Unlocking with fingerprint scanner always works super fast though. Anyone else with the same issue?
I got my AL10 version from china some days ago and i dont have any delay issues with the home button. Its really fast without any delay.
Maybe the ones from you that got problems should write down their version and used firmware. So we can compare. I dont think that this is a hardware issue.
I just assumed it was a hardware issue as it stayed even though I did a factory reset. Maybe a future update fixes it but I wouldn't risk it because my phone was new and I wanted one that was all good.
Settings
You can just go to the developer settings and tick "animation time" to 0,5

Compass Does Not Work

Hi Everyone,
I have a Huawei P20 Lite and updated it this Monday to the version appears as ANE-LX1 8.0.0.146(C461). Today I noticed that apps using the accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer data (such as Compass, Google Maps or a 360 degree video on YouTube) don't react when I move and rotate the device. HiCare smart diagnostics show no errors after "gravity sensor" test.
I would be very glad if anyone can help. Thanks!
Hallo there
That is quite weird, you did it via OTA right? I saw the official changelog of that update and it's only a security monthly patch, I see it causing no issues, altough if you have your bootloader locked you can send it to warranty and they can check it, even if you did that test via HiCare.
Cheers,
AS

Hi, thanks for the answer.
I don't know what OTA is, what I did was going to settings, check for updates and do it.
Today I compared mine with 2 exactly same phones, which were indicating they were also up-to-date; yet their versions were ANE-LX1 8.0.0.046 and ANE-LX1 8.0.0.162; which are different than mine (ANE-LX1 8.0.0.146). I can do nothing but thinking that it's a software/firmware problem because the phone is newer than a week and isn't even dropped yet, whilst the sensor was working.
Thank you very much again!

Yes, weird. I did not test the sensor intentionally, only saw the pedometer count on lock screen. After I updated the phone in a short while that day, the gyro data was gone. Compass was stuck in North 0 degree and 9 degree inclination, even after factory reset. I have changed the phone to solve the problem, I believe it is due to a failure within the inertial measurement unit integrated circuit or its soldering.
But thank you very much anyway!
It's better to send it to warranty yup, might be a defect which is rare but may happen.
Cheers and hope for the best

7T PRO Fingerprint

Just purchased a 7t pro used only 4 months old , now i have had a 7 pro and a 7T oneplus mobile before. The fingerprint sensor on lockscreen is not recognised most of the times . Tried changing fingerprints by putting more than 3 , also have hard reset it and used unbrick tool to downgrade to 10.0.8 That did not work also. wipe cached basically tried everything also taken of screen protector .
I have given now thinking it has to be a faulty sensor.
Anyone else has had same problem and maybe know a way to sort it out

Tried that also its still very hit and miss . Also tried on some of my family , same there hit and miss
I had similar issues but in relation to my second thumb. (I only use thumbs to unlock). The right one worked just fine. The left one was hit or miss. Now it works much better. I can say it'stable .
The best way to configure fingerprint was in my case: 1) try to cover reader area by moving finger little bit, small steps are the best 2) try to configure fingerprint when you actually hold the phone. The angle and the position of the touching finger when you hold it and try to unlock is basically not always the same when your device rests on a flat surface. I think it's worth a shot.
Moreover reader area can be dirty or greasy/and so can be finger. Try to wipe it, and then try lock/unlock couple of times.
I got the impression FR has "learnt" both fingers and it's much much better now. Right finger precision is 9/10 and left one is like 7-8/10.
That is what i dont get its not like i have not had a oneplus device before . but this one seems to be hit and miss, where else others for me was instant
I used devices with analog fingerprint readers and they were instant indeed. In-screen scanners are getting better too. I've owned P40 Pro for a month and I must say that it was almost no difference compared to the analog one - blazing fast and high precision. The one on OP7T pro is not as good (well it's not as modern either), but when you find solution to set it up properly you'll be satisfied. Mine works really good now. Best of luck!
Sent it back now looking for another one

I had this issue just after 4 days of buying. 90% of times my 7T Pro would not recognize the fingerprint. I submitted my device to the service center thrice, even showed them the video recordings of sensor being faulty and they kept telling me that its a software glitch. Well I approached them and literally yelled at them when the issue occurred the 4th time. They changed some hardware component in front of me which is related to the fingerprint and the issue was resolved. Turned out I was right the whole time and they apologized to me. So trust me, it is the hardware issue and you need to get some hardware part changed in your phone. Go with the video recording if you have to and do not leave the service center until they replace the component. We also do not need to factory reset the phone for this so just say NO for factory reset. God knows why service center executives in India always suggest factory reset as the first option to every problem. Hope this helps.

I think the reason is that many issues can be resolved by factory resetting. That it doesn't apply to a lot of situations is the issue with that.
But their philosophy is that if 50 percent of issues can be resolved by factory resetting, they have more resources than if they guide you through 500 steps until a factory reset becomes the only option.
That's why XDA comes in handy
That's actually kind to say but it's a notion to pickup the easiest ( even if it may not be correct ) way.

But this is the same approach by every company. Even at an Apple Store you are presented the easiest option and every other step until you finally get a physical repair.
Just like you rarely get objective advise at a retail store. You are pushed towards a higher priced product so the seller profits from it.
You will never go to an Apple Store just to let the staff tell you a Nokia is cheaper and better for your needs.

Question Am I the only one who things the FP recognition has got worse since Dec update?

I eagerly installed the Dec 2021 update on my Pixel 6 a couple of weeks back - hoping to improve the FP pass rate.
But I am convinced its gotten worse.
It seemed better at first - but soon deteriorated...
Since the update, whilst it still unlocks on the 1st attempt occasionally, I am finding far more instances where it completely fails to recognise my FP and I am forced to put my PIN number in to unlock.
Prior to the update, it would unlock more often on the 1st attempt - otherwise it may have taken 2-3 attempts to unlock and very rarely I would have to enter the PIN.
Same here! adding more of the same finger did not help!
It was better or about the same from 13/12 until 25/12, and now I hardly can use it. have to enter password all the time.

I am not sure where you are located geographically, but in the northern hemisphere it is now winter. As such the overall humidity levels (particularly indoors) tends to be very low and skin is drier. What you may be seeing is your skin seasonally drying out - and the P6 is terrible at reading dry fingerprints.
