[FIX] Fingerprint Unlock in all Custom Roms - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Guides, News, & D

Just like everyone else, I, myself had a very terrible problem about custom roms unable to unlock my phone despite successful registration of my fingerprint under settings.
Here's how I was able to resolved it and this is tried and tested to be working in RR and Mokee rom.
See pictures below. Make sure to register your finger in different positions.
1. Default - thumb pointing upward.
2. Thumb facing the left side.
3. Thumb facing the right side.
4. Thumb facing downward. - this I wasn't able to grab picture of but I'm sure you got the idea.
Also, use the part of your thumb as circled below and make sure to use the same thumb for all registration.
Let me know if it worked for you and which rom.
Cheers!

Update: Tried this on PE and confirmed working.

I'm glad it worked for you both. Please spare the word. There is no such thing as a non-working fingerprint scanner in customs rom. It works for all roms we just need to register our fingers the proper way.
Cheeers!

Hmm, tried on Pixel Experience ROM with no luck "/

EDIT: Just realized you said to add MULTIPLE fingerprints in different orientations. I was just doing one fingerprint, but changing the orientation lol. Thank you! It does indeed work!

Tried registering 4 different fingers in different orientations like you suggested. Didn't work.. Might be doing something wrong. Even tried the same finger in different orientations.
Using pixel experience.

You have to do it with THE SAME finger all the time.

You have tried everything but the mentioned method.
Try registering your finger(any) facing upwards first through out the entire registration process.
Then add a new fingerprint again with the same finger used previously but this time pointing left through out the entire process.
Repeat for remaining two directions(right & downwards) for this same finger.
Enjoy.
Good luck again.

I am also on Havoc 2.8 but it doesn't work for me ?. Very strange.

Hey guys,
The 9T pro is my first Ever fingerprint device.
So can someone explain me why there are issues with customroms and the fingerprint Scanner?

There is another variable that seems to affect this device in particular: humidity.
I've noticed that the fingerprint reader behaves differently if your finger is dry or wet.
This will sound stupid but if you want the best performance of the fingerprint reader, try doing the above method, but make sure you register once when your finger is very dry, and once when it is more wet. This will make sure your fp reader will work at its best in every scenario. This is the way I made the fingerprint reader work like this in PE+:

[GUIDE] Increase fingerprint device unlock quota [29 May 2016]

Since I stumbled over several people recently, who actually have not a good fingerprint device unlock quota (none of them used a OnePlus 2 btw.) due to very dry or also very wet or greasy fingers, I thought I have to share my solution with you as well. Maybe some use this solution already, but for the others, here's the simple way how to increase the fingerprint unlock quota.
It's simple as that:
Add your mainly used fingerprints twice or more to ensure a better unlock quota. Try applying with different conditions, like with dry and wet/greasy fingertips.
That's it. The result for others were better and for me (very dry fingers) it even works faster now or at least it feels like a faster detection.
Please share your experience, if you had problems before adding further fingerprints, I'm curious
Simple yet useful. Thanks buddy.
I did this and now my fps is dead when i try to unlock it says fps hardware not working and i cant unlock via code. Clean flashing new rom doesnt fix it...

What i did is to actually register the fingerprint of the edge area of my thumb as another finger. And i agree, it now detect my thumb faster

But you know, that this defect is not caused by adding another fingerprint twice, right? However, pretty annoying that it's broken now.

Strange bug with fingerprint scanner

So I bought XRN3 (Snapdragon) 2 days ago and loving it! There is insignificant bug with fingerprint scanner. So I scanned my index fingers and am using it. I scanned them in natural position (meaning placing finger with nail facing up to the 3.5mm jack and IR blaster). If I scan my finger by turning it 180 degree, phone still unlocks but locks right away, which means it works, but locks again for some reason. Same for other index finger. It doesn't happen all the time through, sometimes it just unlocks. Anyone having these too?
I'm on MIUI 8.1.1.0 Global Stable.
Maybe you are blocking proximity sensor.
Happens almost the same. It beahve very strange. It started working faster on MIUI8 so I thing they changed smth

I've kind of made the problem go away. Idk if it's a placebo and I've gotten used to it. But I'll end the thread and start another one to state what I've done. You can give me feedback there.

I didn't have something that extreme. But it seems better for me after I turned off mi optimisation in the developers options. Also go to extra settings and pick authorisation. I turned everything off and left settings. I'm about to root my phone as it has been nearly 3 days. There should be a fix in the Mi forums somewherem

Yes. For me it's a functionality rather than a bug. It allows me to use the screen even with gloves on. Also the response will normalise if you install a tempered glass.

I installed tempered glass from the 1st day and getting touch issues. I thought it is software bug. Like, if I swipe left or right and it works as swipe up or down.
Mi post about their miui 10 beta 2, their is written that ghost and multi touch problem will be solved. If miui beta 2 solved these issues then I will install it manually. https://en.miui.com/thread-3935216-1-1.html
I post about the touch issues to poco India in twitter and they replied me to DM to us with contact number and miui version of my device, our team will call you.
Lets see, will they call or not.

Touch issue on 3rd Input

Does anyone have this issue? This can affect in gaming... Like when I am using 4 finger claw in pubg. All most every time, i cant move my camera.
If anyone want to check this issue, download touch screen test app.. When u input 2 finger, the touch is solid...but when 3rd input comes... Its like fading away. Its like i am not touching it at all.
Anyone have any fix?? This is so problematic.

Is it three finger screen capture problem it?
Hi there my friend.
I have the same problem with my POCO. In my previous cell phone, I played PUBG with triggers, but in this cell I can not move, aim and shoot at the same time. I think it's because of the same problem as the toch.
I did the same test with the program and there if you recognize all the touches of the screen in the same way.

It's either ROM/kernel issue, mine was working perfectly with triggers in AICP but broke in MSM-Xtended, didn't work in most of the custom kernel, but it's working on canting kernel (if you okay to test yourself)

7T PRO Fingerprint

Just purchased a 7t pro used only 4 months old , now i have had a 7 pro and a 7T oneplus mobile before. The fingerprint sensor on lockscreen is not recognised most of the times . Tried changing fingerprints by putting more than 3 , also have hard reset it and used unbrick tool to downgrade to 10.0.8 That did not work also. wipe cached basically tried everything also taken of screen protector .
I have given now thinking it has to be a faulty sensor.
Anyone else has had same problem and maybe know a way to sort it out

Tried that also its still very hit and miss . Also tried on some of my family , same there hit and miss
I had similar issues but in relation to my second thumb. (I only use thumbs to unlock). The right one worked just fine. The left one was hit or miss. Now it works much better. I can say it'stable .
The best way to configure fingerprint was in my case: 1) try to cover reader area by moving finger little bit, small steps are the best 2) try to configure fingerprint when you actually hold the phone. The angle and the position of the touching finger when you hold it and try to unlock is basically not always the same when your device rests on a flat surface. I think it's worth a shot.
Moreover reader area can be dirty or greasy/and so can be finger. Try to wipe it, and then try lock/unlock couple of times.
I got the impression FR has "learnt" both fingers and it's much much better now. Right finger precision is 9/10 and left one is like 7-8/10.
That is what i dont get its not like i have not had a oneplus device before . but this one seems to be hit and miss, where else others for me was instant
I used devices with analog fingerprint readers and they were instant indeed. In-screen scanners are getting better too. I've owned P40 Pro for a month and I must say that it was almost no difference compared to the analog one - blazing fast and high precision. The one on OP7T pro is not as good (well it's not as modern either), but when you find solution to set it up properly you'll be satisfied. Mine works really good now. Best of luck!
Sent it back now looking for another one

I had this issue just after 4 days of buying. 90% of times my 7T Pro would not recognize the fingerprint. I submitted my device to the service center thrice, even showed them the video recordings of sensor being faulty and they kept telling me that its a software glitch. Well I approached them and literally yelled at them when the issue occurred the 4th time. They changed some hardware component in front of me which is related to the fingerprint and the issue was resolved. Turned out I was right the whole time and they apologized to me. So trust me, it is the hardware issue and you need to get some hardware part changed in your phone. Go with the video recording if you have to and do not leave the service center until they replace the component. We also do not need to factory reset the phone for this so just say NO for factory reset. God knows why service center executives in India always suggest factory reset as the first option to every problem. Hope this helps.

I think the reason is that many issues can be resolved by factory resetting. That it doesn't apply to a lot of situations is the issue with that.
But their philosophy is that if 50 percent of issues can be resolved by factory resetting, they have more resources than if they guide you through 500 steps until a factory reset becomes the only option.
That's why XDA comes in handy
That's actually kind to say but it's a notion to pickup the easiest ( even if it may not be correct ) way.

But this is the same approach by every company. Even at an Apple Store you are presented the easiest option and every other step until you finally get a physical repair.
Just like you rarely get objective advise at a retail store. You are pushed towards a higher priced product so the seller profits from it.
You will never go to an Apple Store just to let the staff tell you a Nokia is cheaper and better for your needs.
