Can't connect to camera. Try restarting your phone - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

I reccently got my new MI A3. So I was looking for a way to install the gcam. Found the apk version that was supposed to work on my phone and installed it. After that both the device camera app and the gcam app stopped working giving that same message "Can't connect to camera. Try restarting your phone". Tried:
- Cleaning up cache
- Disabling and enabling permissions
- Actually restarting the phone
Nothing worked, so I went for factory reset. At first it worked fine, then I tried the Gcam again, with another version. At the beginning the photo option on the gcam was not working(black screen) only the video one. But as the original apk for the camera was working I just gave up on the gcam. After a while the original camera app stopped working the same way as before "Can't connect to camera. Try restarting your phone". This time I tried:
- Cleaning up cache
- Disabling and enabling permissions
- Factory reset(like 3 times)
None of them worked. Can anyone help me to solve this?
PS: the camera still works on other apps like Instagram

This is very strange, you have already formatted the smartphone and still the problem continued, try to reinstall the ROM, if the problem continues, if the smartphone is under warranty, I would recommend that you replace it. Because I am not having this problem. Do a complete clean install via Mi Flash or ADB.

[Q] I think I bricked my camera.. ONLY my camera

While flashing a new camera driver, the factory test.apk suddenly stopped in between.
Now, i cant use my camera. it always says "Can't connect to camera" when I try to use the camera.
I've tried switching through different ROMs to try and reflash a new driver but the message "Factory test has stopped" always happens.
any ideas?

Might not be bricked
Do you get an option to wait before factorytest force closes?
If so just wait. And wait. It may load and will be very laggy but persist with it and flash your original camera firmware.
Did the same on my old s2.
If you search through my posts you will find more info.

The option did come up but it did force close. The problem now is that I can't get the factory test to open again. it always fails to launch. :/

[Q] my s3 freezes and I cant backup my stuff

Hello all,
It's been almost 8 months since I got my s3 and it was going kinda good till I encountered a problem 2 days ago
my mobile started to freeze very often ( I had to remove the battery to turn it off before I know that I can long press the powe button ) I decided to do factory reset. However, kies can not make the bqck up while the mobile is not responding.
I tried safe mode and the issue still exist.
is there away to fix the whole thing on just backing up when the phone is switched off??
Looking forward to hearing from you soon
Regards
Does the phone still freeze while in download mode? If not then adb can be used to backup the phone storage, or use Mike Skip's tool to automate this.
Try reading the freeze thread, if you leave the phone long enough - once it is frozen, it may start to respond again.
you can't backup a swiched off phone :/

What would you like to backup? I can give you some possibilities:
1. Phone numbers can be backed up through a Google Account.
2. Pictures you can copy/paste to your computer after connecting your phone by a USB cable. So the Media.
3. SMS: you can download from the Google Store the free SMS Backup and Restore App.
4. Applications: The downloaded ones from the Store - through your Google Account. The others: download from the Store the free Super Backup App.

Besides the backup methods - there is a possibility to flash a stock rom without format and wipes, through Odin. It is supposed to keep your data and applications.

1- I have already enabled backing up through Google Account but when I formatted my mobile last time I could not restore them back
2,3,4- When the mobile freezes it stops responding and I can not do any of those
and using a custom or even another official ROM is not preferred

Only if you actually flash or install something .

problem with camera video in lollipop

Hi every one
I have a problem with camera video " camera has stopped ".. In same time YouTube not work must be do clear cache and data and reboot for fix that... And again problem coming
... If anyone have solution?!
Or anyone can upload camera app and file for me
yeah. I've dealt with this problem over one month, flashed different firmwares, cleared cache, cleared dalvik cache, factory reset, reboot in safe mode etc but i found no fix to this problem. Eventually i sent it to warranty: first time they reinstalled the software, but the phone still didn't worked (i checked there for 5 minutes then sent it back), and the second time they gave me a replacement. So my advice: use your warranty for the problem and ask for a replacement. Some users managed to fix it by factory resetting or by flashing other firmwares but this seems to work only to a few phones.
---------- Post added at 09:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 AM ----------
by the way check your led shortcut: turn it on and off several times to see if it works properly: i have noticed that when the camera doesn't work the led will not turn off and the shortcut will disappear.
Thanks for your help.. I found solution for this problem... I flashed stock firmware 23.1.A1.28
In flash tools, Erase every thing and flash recovery in fastboot.... Now every thing is OK

Any status on this brick? Same happened to me few moments ago
I am with the same problem. Please, must be a solution... anyone knows something? Thanks in advance
Me2 same with this like that.
For first poster : You have to flash first FW, THEN .res.
Maybe that's why.
To flash the 2 files, i used Notify & Fitness today and all ok.
FW : 0.1.0.27
And once it's bricked, for now, I haven't seen anyone recovering it...
Mine was brick as well. I followed the tutorial of one of the thread here

I haven't found fix for this one.
https://www.tuttoandroid.net/xiaomi/scopriamo-un-amazfit-bip-un-teardown-inconsueto-525801/
I came across the above link regarding the teardown of amzefit bip and it says if the wrong firmware is flashed and if the watch bricks it can be unbricked by using the testing points available on motherboard of the watch. I don't have a decent electronics background so didn't understood it.
Finally I just understood that it's possible but, not for common user like me (unless someone creates a proper tutorial)
Hi,
I have the same issue.
Do you find something ?

Phone can't even pass the system configuration

Hello mates!
I've sold my Pocophone a while ago and it was working as supposed to. I don't know what the person did but the phone went to the system configuration as if someone did a factory reset or something but it a mess.
When the setup starts it shows a message "Android Setup isn't responding" with a Wait or Ok option.
After a while the message "Android Setup Keeps stopping" also appers.
After that it starts the confituration but when it asks me to connect to WiFi it's completely blank. No WiFi options is showed in the screen.
I can skip that and continue the configuration but in the end a message is showed saying that I didn't configurate a Google Account and it puts me back to the beggining of the configuration.
I've tried a wipe data in recovery menu but nothing changed.
Edit: after I noticed that I can access de notification bar and the configurations of the phone. I discovered that it's using Android 10.0.4.0 and that I can't access WiFi button or configuration. WiFi button is not clickable and the configuration menu is blank and if I wait some long time the options appears but when I click to activete WiFi it says that is activanting but the button comes back to original position.
Edit 2: with Mi Flash Pro I could install the latest version of the system (10.0.6.0) but nothing changed. I noticed that in this configuration menu after a while the phone reboots.
Edit 3: Now I've found something bizarre. Baseband version is unknown. I think that most of the problems maybe is connected to that.

Latest version of miui is MIUI 11 (11.0.6.0).
If the baseband version is unknown it means you have corrupted the modem. Your IMEI number is also gone and you can't use your SIM services.

There are two setups in miui, one is done by miui and second is done by google. So try setting up your phone both times without google account. Once you've made it to the launcher you can figure out the problems.

Thank you for the reply.
That day after hard reset again and knock a little bit the phone, all of sudden the unkwown status changed and the WiFi worked. But was intermittent and also all of sudden the WiFi stopped and sometimes worked on next boot and sometimes not showing again unknown. Sometimes the phone rebooted by itself.
Something is weird with the phone and I don't know if it's physical or software issue.
I returned the phone to the owner. I'm sorry I wrote 10.0.6.0 but it's 11.0.6.0.
